Klassisches Dorfpub. Sauberkeit lässt etwas zu wünschen übrig, aber gute Auswahl an Draftbier. Sehr freundliches Personal.

Awful pub - grumpy barmaid and they clearly didn’t want tourists in. Much nicer and friendlier places in the village. Would avoid completely!

Been to all the pubs in Bellingham and this was by far the worst. Walked in and it was like walking into a wake, a few worthy’s sitting at the bar, no atmosphere, felt like we were disturbing their day. Basically had one drink and left. If your a tourist avoid at all costs and save your money, they don’t deserve it. There are plenty of other places that are fun and welcoming.

I love this little pub. It's a proper pub filled with locals who are all as friendly as they are welcoming. The barmaid was very helpful, kindly allowing me to return to pay for my meal the following day, after leaving my purse at home! I spent time outside in the Square, chatting with locals and visitors to the area, enjoying the sunshine and drinking cheap and cheerful wine, then indoors for a hearty seafood platter, with chips and salad. Smashing! Reasonable prices and a place at the table for my best friend, Clarence the Schnauzer.

Been in here drinking about 4 times on holiday. Its a real locals pub. Barmaid is busy, efficient, but certainly not rude. Got a friendly welcome from her & others in the pub. You won't get swanky cocktails, fine wines here, but an honest pint & chat. Lots of TVs showing sports, jukebox and a pool table. Toilets not easy to get to if you have issues with stairs

There was no food. They were unable to tell me where I could get food. The beer was freezing cold keg - I prefer real ale. By the time it had warmed enough to drink it didn't taste all that good. The pub was coolI had most of 1 pint and left

Sadly, what used to be the best pub in Bellingham has now hit rock bottom and become the worst. If you can manage to push your way through the smokers who block the door and get inside, the atmosphere is hostile it just does not have the feel of a nice country pub anymore. Have been calling into this place for over 30 years on and off and have no intention of going back. Really grim!

This place was dank, dark and dirty. Loud music blared out and forced us to use outside. No food. No credit cards. It could be so much better. So disappointing after a brilliant walk up the North Tyne.

We went in here looking for some food at around 3pm. It looked reasonably OK from the car. After we had squeezed past the group smoking in the doorway we got inside. It smelled of old beer and dirty carpets. We asked about food and the staff just laughed and said no food. Couldn't get back out fast enough.

Went in for a drink only, and found the atmosphere very pleasant. The pub was dog friendly, and all the locals in there were very approachable and welcoming, making a fuss of our Black Labrador. The beer was good as well.

There's not much in Bellingham apart from the "Co-op" and a nice bakers. We had a meal in the Rose & Crown which was nice and reasonably priced

Finding ourselves in need of refreshment we opened the door, and immediately retreated. The dark interior was off putting enough, but this was compounded by the most awful stale smell. I should have checked TripAdvisor before hand to locate a decent pub.

I came here with my boyfriend following a 26 mile bike ride so we were understandably hungry and wanted something to eat. We chose this pub as it was local to our hotel. The inside is vert grotty and dirty and needs a major refurb. As we entered the pub we asked the bar man for a menu. Everybody sat in the pub laughed and told us we wouldn't get any food round there. We were advised to get a meal deal from the Coop or wait for the Chinese takeaway to open. It appeared to only welcome locals so we decided against getting a drink in there and left promptly.

The bar staff in this pub were not very friendly or helpful. They only accept cash which is an inconvenience to have to go to the cash point. They couldn't tell us the correct wifi password and were not really interested in helping us out or phoning someone to find out what it was. We were not offered any ice or lemon or lime with drinks. not a very nice experience. I won't be returning any time soon. The Cheviot pub over the road is a far better bar for service and atmosphere and you can get access to the internet.

I enjoy a couple of drinks here before eating elsewhere. It is frequented by locals who were friendly and created a lively atmosphere. The wi fi signal was excellent which was helpful for me. The bar staff were very efficient and also friendly.

Although rather dark and a seemly drinkers pub, we were given a friendly welcome, got a very good pint and a chat with the locals. The owners made a genuine effort and that was so nice.

Very disappointed today with customer service and food quality. Did not realise you had to order your meal from the till so stood being ignored by staff as if I was invisible!! Eventually ordered bacon and sausage bap which was greasy in a less than fresh bap. 7.70 for this including a cup of coffee. Come on Tesco. You can do better than this!!! Sad as this cafe was pretty good the last time I used it a couple of years ago.

I don't know if it's just the day that we visited, but the experience was pretty bad. The person at the check out was very chaotic and tried to charge three completely different totals for my order before figuring out the right one. And she first made me wait while she ran after another customer to ask them to pay, but actually that customer had already paid. I don't personally have an issue with the pricing as long as the product and service was acceptable. The coffee was completely undrinkable. I mean, I took one sip and could not bear to put any more of it into my mouth. I even went back and paid for a Coke even though I don't like it, just to find a way of getting caffeine in for my drive that I could get down. I already suspected that any of their espresso based drinks would taste awful, so I ordered filter coffee from the menu to be safe. However, they just made an Americano (that's adding hot water to espresso) and when I pointed it out, they claimed this was filter coffee. If I knew they were still going to use the espresso machine I'd have picked a milky option to counteract the terrible coffee. The toasted sandwich I ordered was fine. I got the sense that the food is fine if you like greasy spoon menu items but I wouldn't risk anything else there.

I was there with a group of six. A wonderful place to stay, drink and eat. There are some odd reviews below that the owner was grumpy or miserable, which aren't true at all and we can assume those who have commented on such things have rigid standards of social norms that they think apply everywhere. Yes the owner doesn't smile. But he was pleasant, courteous, and checked in on us to make sure we were ok. He welcomed us warmly when we arrived in the cold, made sure we got to our rooms ok and made sure we were looked after. For lunch I had a lovely warm bowl of homemade tomato soup and a nice cheese and ham sandwich, it was very homely. For dinner I had fish and chips, a classic, and it was nicely beer battered. In the morning I had an English breakfast and again was well prepared. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The owner also directed us on what we could see on the island during the winter season. Again, a lovely place with lovely staff. Would recommend.
