Absolutely fantastic place to work, I did work experience there not long ago, And it made me feel like I was at home.😊 I felt safe, happy, honoured, supportive etc....... and i was also presented by the staff in a respectful and delightful Manor which was a really warm welcoming.🙏 everything there is just perfect Including: the Eco friendly products, the food, the atmosphere and everything else. ☺️ I would most definitely recommend it 👌 😃😄 To all the people out there who are thinking about doing work experience for a year, Roots is your best bet. 🤠

Quite the surprise. Not the best of areas yet a delightful cafe and store. Much cheaper and better than chain coffee shops. GF stuff, seeds and nuts, eco kitchen chemicals, the lot. Charming staff. Take time to go out of your way and visit.

Great cafe and refill store behind, inc accessible entrance to cafe. Friendly, helpful service, vegan food and drinks available, the mushroom soup was divine - gutted to hear their future is so uncertain. Good accessible toilet. Stairs and lift up to community hall, only issues was the worktop for the kitchenette was really sticky asking the edge. Great range of stock in the refill store, everything from dry groceries, tea, locally roasted ethical coffee (inc decaf!), flour, rice, pasta, sugar, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices, sweets, personal hygiene, toiletries, gifts, laundry & cleaning products, candles, reusable chill packs for bumps and grazes. Prices are reasonable too. Will definitely be coming back!

Online says brunch ends 11.30 Arrived at 11.25 Sunday for brunch told too late to have brunch nothing left!! Drove 30 minutes especially for brunch Would not serve us it Avoid!

Really sorry to learn Root's is closing, another victim of the parking permits scandal. I feel particularly sad for Beth who when shes there, makes a difference to my day.

It is a special place not only for its magnificent food but also because it is a space for social gatherings. Conversation is part of the menu. A place that serves the community

A great Community Cafe where the combination of simple good food, good prices, warm , clean and safe comfortable environment for anyone and everyone is a credit to our Community. A hub for local groups and gatherings, well stocked reading and games area, immaculately clean ....immaculately clean..what more is there to say? Big hearted lovely people and, not forgetting their coffee which is fab! Xx

Nice independent coffee shop, we had coffee and cake. Good value, friendly staff. Also zero waste shop attached with loads of great products.

I love this place - good food and great prices and a real sense of community. They even have a plastic free shop out the back!

Lovely friendly, relaxed cafe and everything is delicious. I've been with friends, with the kids and am happy enough to visit when I'm on my own too. Great ethics and community spirit too x

Lovely place and great activities

I had the delicious lunchtime special of a fish finger sandwich with a tasty gherkin dressing. Excellent all round! Clean loo too!

Went to the tiny tots group. Was very uncomfortable and awkward. Very limited toys and things to do for the little ones. The people running it seemed nice. But unfortunately the atmosphere has put me off going back again. Would not recommend.

Had Saturday breakfast. It was OK. Reasonably priced with a wide choice of Coffee's and tea's.

A LOVELY PLACE, TO SIT IN PEACE AND QUIET TO HAVE A MEAL OR FOOD AND A DRINK. THERE IS ALSO A SHOP AT THE REAR TOO.

Great Community Cafe and more....Fabulous service, great well priced food, immaculately clean and welcoming. Discovered three months after moving to Gloucester and is now one of our favourite places. Everyone welcome and made to feel so. Definitely the best coffee in Gloucester that we have found!! Thank you x

Lovely friendly welcome at this immaculate Community Cafe. Delicious EA Coffee (Ethical Addiction) and great brownie and flapjack. Will definitely revisit with my friend and children. Well priced and Menu looks simple and tasty! Thank you!

This is a lovely place but we will not be coming back. Today a friend and I ordered two babycinos for two toddlers and they were given to us boiling, scolding hot!!! Of course, we are the parents, we should have checked before a two year old picked it up, tried to drink it and spilled it onto her jumper (thankfully it didn't soak onto her skin) but regardless, this is not a temperature you serve an obvious babycino at to a toddler and it is a mistake we will not forget.

Was early for a meeting - on purpose so I could have lunch here. Had a wonderful Brie'n'bacon panini, plenty of tasty filling and perfectly crispy roll. And a decent strong coffee too.

Forget your chains… Costa, Starbucks etc. pay a visit to Roots. Lots to choose from on the menu and very friendly staff. Loved it ❤️

A lovely, spacious coffeeshop with good food and drink, a short distance from the centre of Gloucester. There is a small play area and a community room for hire. It's a great place to meet.

Lovely little community café... Really nice vibe in here. They do a scheme where you can donate your free loyalty card coffee or buy a voucher for their notice board to help someone who may just need a free hot drink or some food! Hopefully those in need know about this great idea!

Just a nice and cosy community cafe with a nice atmosphere. The fried egg bap is brilliant and great hunger filler! The prices are slightly pricey but that’s to be expected with a small community cafe. Keep it up!

Absolutely love this place......staff are so helpful and kind.....they don't mind if you stay for just a coffee or you stay for a couple of hours.....food is fab.....all homemade.... quite a basic menu, breakfast menu or sandwiches, toasties, panini's, soup, bacon or sausage rolls plus plenty of cakes, what you get is delicious.... everything is made to order so you know it's going to be fresh. I would say if you happen to pass this place pop in for a coffee and something to eat. I promise you won't be be disappointed

I attended the Roots Café for a Mindfulness Session for the first time yesterday. I received a warm welcome by the volunteers & the group members. The Mindfulness Session was educational and gave me a warm peaceful feeling. I came away with hope, knowing that with practice I will be able to help myself manage my chronic pain. Sending a huge thank you to everyone. I will be comming back for more.

Lovely. Such a lovely place to have a coffee and cake. The downstairs is spacious, open and airy and the upstairs is quieter with books you can borrow. So many events are held at Roots also, which i keep meaning to get involved in. A wonderful place run by wonderful people. I would highly suggest popping in if you're local.

Siempre es un ambiente divertido y animado. Mi única queja sería unas pocas opciones más de pastel, en lugar de todas las rebanadas y bollos, ¡podría ser bueno, ya que a veces solo el pastel servirá!

Such a lovely cafe! The veggie breakfast was very tasty and delicious pancakes. But the best thing was the wonderfully friendly staff and community feeling.

Roots is a wonderful local family cafe.

A great place to enjoy a quality, fairly traded coffee, and the best chocolate brownies! Lovely staff. It is located in a less salubrious area of Gloucester, but just like The Sherbourne Cinema, for example, is quite unpretentiously one of Gloucester's several hidden gems!

Cheerful local café with a relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of room on the ground floor, including a small play area for little ones. There's additional seating upstairs with a selection of books for all ages. The events room for hire is big enough for a large meeting or kids' party. The menu is simple but the food quality is high: cakes and coffee are particularly good. The presentation is as good as any coffee shop chain. Prices are very reasonable too. All the staff are always helpful and cheerful.
