Roochi Real Indian Cuisine in Wealden

Extremely disappointed as booked nearly a week ago having been here before and accused of not booking when I clearly had Turned up this evening and the restaurant was empty apart from 6 people but told it was full and had emailed me that he had cancelled my booking and emailed me which he clearly hadn’t and when asked couldn’t show me the email Last time the food was good but service was frosty and put it down to the fact they were busy but not acceptable when there was no one in Stayed around here on business to go to this restaurant and had to drive and park up Def won’t use again

Terrible service and rude staff. We booked our table for 715. We had to wait 20 minutes to be seated whilst constantly being told 2 more minutes, 2 more minutes. We ordered two drinks at the bar and I asked if we could have the drinks on the house as we'd been waiting 20 minutes. Which the barman said yes to. Once seated we had to ask 5 times to put our order in and again kept being told 2 minutes, 2 minutes. When the bill arrived I pointed out they had charged us for the free drinks. The manager completely shut me down, wouldn't let me speak and said he was the boss and if he didn't ok it the drinks weren't free. I gently tried to point out that we were going by what we had been told and that to receive complimentary drinks for a 20 minutes wait was fair. He wouldn't let me finish talking, kept talking over me and insisted we paid for the drinks. He was rude, abrasive and unpleasant. I felt so uncomfortable and it was a really unpleasant way to end what should have been a lovely anniversary dinner. WE WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN. The staff at Khans are much more friendly.

Bad experience. The food was average with the lamb quite tough and the chicken dry. The worst part though was although we had booked a table for a meal we were rushed to pay after eating our mains with the waiter constantly coming to get our payment although we were clearly talking. Each time it was "no rush" and minutes later someone was back again. Felt unwelcome to stay if we weren't actually eating. Not my idea of going out for a meal. Might as well have got a takeaway...from somewhere else.

Ordered a delivery to EG and turned up 20 minutes late, I called when 10 minutes late and a very rude man told me "its only 10 minutes late, we dont deliver to exact times" I told hime this happens many times, or it comes 30 minutes early, we once returned from the shops to find the delivery sittin on the doorstep. I said to him I found their service and his attitude very poor and that we wont use them again. He said "whatever, its your choice" unbelievable. We definitely wont order from Roochi again....

Was recommended this beautiful Restaurant years ago and now when even I’m in the area head down. Tasty food, wonderful atmosphere and the staff are incredibly welcoming. If you would like something just ask and if they can they will happily help you out. Headed again tonight, great service and lovely atmosphere

Probably the best Indian around. 15 quid on Sunday and Wednesday gets you starter main side and rice or bread. Banging

Booked a table and had to wait 25 mins for table Food not as good as last visit sadly won't be returning Offer on a Wednesday evening was drastically over booked and waiters running around like crazy not a relaxing evening at all. When we were ready to give food order waiter was rude and said you said you were ready now your not.??? Sorry sadly bit of a caged in meal at the table too Need to monitor your bookings and seem to favour people that have been before and not interested in nee customers at all

Have a broken leg, can't get around properly. Roochi manager has just delivered a huge free meal with all the trimmings. Major thanks for their kindness and great meal shared with two neighbours.

4th AUGUST 2024 ..Visited here 6 times in the last 3 months . Tonight had table booked for 5 people, had 4 staff staring at us all through the meals and taking plates away before we had all finished. And to finally take the piss brought the bill out before we had finished our deserts or order more drinks to finish . Spoke to manager about disgusting behaviour and service , he said they needed table...... you've lost hundreds £££ from us now 👋

Went here for a meal with friends. As always, the food and customer service were the best. My partner and I came from Billingshurst to Forest Row to have a meal here as it's the best Curry I've ever had. The atmosphere and ambience are amazing.

It was great to be back in Forest Row on our normal dog-and-house sitting duties as it meant we could eat at Roochi again! We booked a table, knowing how busy this restaurant is, particularly on Wednesdays and Sundays when the banquet is available. Like normal, we were warmly greeted by the owner, Saiful Hussain, and his friendly and attentive staff. The food was superb, still excellent value for money considering the size of the portions and quality of the food and service. Looking forward to coming back again, but that probably won't be until February next year. Thanks to Saiful and his staff for such a lovely meal and enjoyable evening.

Another fantastic meal at Roochi. We come here all the way from Hassocks- it is that good. We always enjoy our delicious meal, attentive service and authentic atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit.

Visited in Kune 2024 and tried the Wednesday special - eat-in only for £15 - starter, main, Two sides and a free chocolate to finish. There was enough food to fill a takeaway tray for tomorrow's dinner too. Take the staff's recommendations on what to order - you won't be disappointed ✨️

Riochi is our favourite Indian restaurant we have tried a few other restaurants but no where matches the flavours or service of Roochi...dinning in is the best quality take away is very slightly different sometimes but not that noticeable and still the best food

Had the chicken tikka jalfrezi and I was waltzed straight to India it was like an infusion of Indian spice with kick of an Indian tiger in my gob unbelievable and very tasty! Be back for another!!

We had a table for 12 people to celebrate my husbands birthday. We all had the Sunday Banquet. The food was excellent and really good value for money. We had so much food that the staff gave us boxes to take home the extra. (Which I very much enjoyed the next day! )The staff are here attentive and we were given a complementary drink with the bill. Would highly recommend.

Awful experience!!!!! 4th time to this restaurant. But tonight I am very disappointed...a very RUDE owner / chef who can't take a customer feedback on the food. Chicken tikka was dry, the rest of the dishes are warmed up in the microwave pretending it's fresh. I cook too so I know. Personally, I will comeback here again.

Gone downhill over last few months, we have been using Roochi for the last 12 years even though we have closer Indian restaurants nearby. However the previous high standards of customer service have dropped and now despite delivering to us for 9 years we are apparently out of their area. Waited almost 30 minutes beyond my pick up time yesterday, would previously been offered a drink for the delay whilst I wait or an addition to the food, nothing offered, also food order has had items missing several times and again this week. What a shame your standards are dropping, there is plenty of choice and competition around

Ordered food the food was every where splilt in the bag called told them said 3-4 mins drive will be back then called and said driver doesn't speak English, then hung up wouldn't pick up so called on another phone then said they would call the police, now I have to wait the next day and show up with there rotten food bad service bad people and I'm not having it I have ordered from surma and alot cheap and amazing service

By far the best Indian style restaurant in the South East. Literally no competition, from food quality and portions, through to service 🙂 Can not recommend enough.

We are back in Forest Row dog-and-house sitting for a few weeks whilst our friend is on holiday. We both have birthdays during this period so obviously it made sense to celebrate them at Roochi (mid-way between the two occasions). Yet again, we were warmly greeted by the boss, Saiful Hussain, and his staff who are so friendly, helpful and can't do enough for you. Every dish we had was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection, and the portions are huge. Please remember that this is a very popular restaurant so it is advisable to book a table in advance, not forgetting that it also does take-away service as well as eat-in, so the kitchen gets very busy. Many thanks to Saiful and his staff for making us feel so welcome and feeding us so well. It is excellent value for money particularly considering the quality of the food itself. We look forward to coming back again when we're next staying in Forest Row - probably mid-July!

Having only heard amazing reviews from friends local to this restaurant for 4 years I finally managed to find time to go myself. From the moment we walked in the staff were friendly and very helpful. The food is some of the best Indian cuisine I have had. Can't wait for the return visit!

Went in after a wonderful day at lingfield races to witness possibly the best curry experience I have ever had, and I’ve had a lot of curry’s. The staff- amazing, the environment- beautiful The food- well where to start, all I can say is go and witness for yourself. Highly recommended and will be returning!

We are currently staying with our friend in Forest Row for the month of December whilst she recuperates from a hip replacement operation. The added bonus is that we have managed to go to Roochi twice during our stay, once just my husband and I then the second time our friend joined us. Like normal, we were warmly greeted by the boss, Saiful Hussain, and his staff who are so friendly, helpful and can't do enough for you. Every dish we had was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection, and the portions are huge. On our second visit I left my gloves behind, and one of the staff ran out to stop us getting into the car to return them to me. Thank you! Just one word of warning: it is advisable to book a table in advance as this is a very popular restaurant, not forgetting that it also does take-away service as well as eat-in, so the kitchen gets very busy. Many thanks to Saiful and his staff for making us feel so welcome and feeding us so well. It is excellent value for money particularly considering the quality of the food itself. We look forward to coming back again when we're next staying in Forest Row - probably the end of February!

Had a takeaway,usually very good,arrived after an hour,stone cold.straight in the bin.disappointed..

Where do I start , the meat was so tough in both curries, unedible, the lamb samosas greasy to the maximum.. sag aloo the potatoes were raw ! The naan bread didn't even get delivered.. delivered cold too .. phoned the manager and totally rude wouldn't issue a refund but offered a discount on next delivery and if we took the discount we were told we could never order from them again.. I would never recommend this place

Awful customer service. Piling £75 of food into one bag and when it splits no offer to fix the order. Thrown away money and was told by their staff that we would return as their curry is the best, horrendous arrogance and way to treat a regular customer.

Hi, a very bad experience staff very very rude got a takaway the curry's was awful absolutely terrible never ever go back there again I would recommend monsoon in east grinstead best curry's ever but I gave these guys a chance absolutely disappointing and disgusting food not sure why they are rated so high they should be shut down the worst curry's ever staff are so rude they all need training !!!!!! I ordered a lamb shank and a chicken cori both came like a tika masala.very bland not enough original flavour. Taste wastnt great and i was gutted as we like to treat ourselves on takeaway.. I spoke to the resturant about our upset who were not customer service focused at all. Gutted. Try monsoon in east grinstead instead.

Visiting from Kent and celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary at Roochi. Good service and very welcoming. Gorgeous food, plenty to eat, definitely worth considering sharing as portion size is more than adequate and affordable. If we're ever back in the area, we will visit again and would highly recommend this gem. Love the Roochi chutney😍

What a terrible experience! We were visiting Forest Row and craved some Indian food. After looking for an Indian restaurant, two locals pointed us to this place. We placed order for fish pakoras and mains. My fish pakora felt way too stretching and with one bite (IT WAS STONE COLD IN THE MIDDLE) I returned it and wanted it cancelled but still the manager came with another batch where I politely requested that I'll wait for my mains and didn't want fish pakoras anymore. The manager was very arrogant and pretty much forced me to accept the redone ones saying "YOU'LL HAVE TO EAT THIS AND I WON'T CANCEL AS YOU HAVE BEEN CHARGED FOR IT" and I was still trying to talk and say it was OK to be charged but I didn't want it anymore where he made an absolutely annoyed face and left. That was it, my husband and I paid for the starters and drinks and left. Never going back here.. Ps I am from India and that's not how you are treated in India!

Absolutely stunning experience. The food is very, very good - lovely thick, rich and tasty sauces. The portions are also very big so you won't worry about going hungry. I can recommend the South Indian Garlic as that's what I had on this occasion. The restaurant is very well kept and nicely furnished too. And the service was always very attentive - all of the staff were very friendly. 👍 Planning very much on coming back again soon and we'll bring more of the family with us!

Manager was so exceptionally rude to myself and my friend when we arrived for dinner. All over which chair she was to sit on. Told him he was being rude and he said we could leave the restaurant. Couldn’t believe it. This was the said Manager. So we left. Won’t go there again. Additionally we subsequently found out they cook with GMO oil.

Decent, if not great, food coupled with shocking customer service that I have never experienced before!!! Have ordered from here a few times and food always good, if sometimes a little later than stated. Ordered online at 5:50pm for delivery at 7:30pm on Valentine’s Day. Understand that it’ll be busy on this day, so waited until 7:55pm before calling to find out where our order was? Spoke with the owner, who was incredibly rude… “Not our fault”… “the time on the website shouldn’t be believed” - why have a preferred delivery time on YOUR website then?? I then said that I now didn’t want the food, but he hung up whilst I was speaking, only to receive a call from their (very polite) driver stating that the food will be a further 15 minutes!! Again stated that I don’t want it. Two minutes later, received another call from the self proclaimed “boss man”, who said that I was going to pay for the food! When I declined his kind offer, he proceeded to call me a wa*ker and never to order from his restaurant again!😮 It’s obviously my fault that they were going to be 45 minutes late! ORDER FROM HERE AT YOUR PERIL AND NEVER PAY BY CARD AS YOU MAY BE WAITING A LOT LONGER THAN THEIR WEBSITE STATES… but it’ll be your fault!!!!!!

The food was absolutely delicious! I couldn’t stop eating! Butter chicken was very soft, prawn biryani was so generous with prawns, rice with cashew nuts was amazing. Great service. I would definitely recommend this place.
