As always the best restaurant for a perfect Sunday lunch hot plates meat tender plenty of fresh vegetables and lovely gravy service spot on this is a lovely small but friendly restaurant all in all we always enjoy our lunch

This is a fantastic restaurant. The food is wonderful (every course is a great success) and the service is brilliant. We have eaten at Ronnies many times and we will keep coming back!

Outstanding meal prepared by chefs who understand and can cook food to the highest standard. We had a 3 course set menu which was interspersed with treats and surprises as you went along which made the evening interesting and fun. Great service. Would not hesitate to recommend. This was our second visit to Ronnie's and, yet again, it was an excellent meal. The service is first class - the waiter was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly; the food is delicious; and we love the different approach to a tasting menu. Basically you choose your three courses and they bring small appetisers before, during and after those three courses. The sweet sticky brioche buns seemed an odd substitution for standard bread rolls, but they worked! The mushroom amuse bouche was sensational, and we could not fault a single item on the menu. We will definitely be making a third visit.

Cosy restaurant with nice ambiance. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly and helpful. They can recommend a good wine to accompany any dish on the menu.

Another excellent evening meal at our favourite restaurant. Every course was superb, using fresh ingredients prepared in a unique way only Ronnies can do. Definitely Michelin star standard. As usual the service was very good and overall a great evening. We will be back again soon.

Booked for a Thursday lunch the food was as tasty fresh as you would want all served on very hot plates which I like no need to ask they know a very 5 star lunch service from Richard as good as it gets

We’ve been coming to Ronnie’s for years, but today we went for a birthday celebration/treat. Delicious tasting menu with scallops, sea bream, rhubarb and fondant amongst other things. Lovely, friendly service and a lovely vibe in the restaurant. Everything tasted fresh and seasonal and super delicious.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our evening with delicious food of Michelin star quality. There were 6 of us and we every course was perfectly cooked and tasted delicious.

This lovely place survived the pandemic and came out of it stronger than ever. This time, we opted for the fixed menu, which offers exceptional value. All three courses were spot-on. We went for a bin-end of wine, which also offered great value. Relaxed and friendly, but extremely high-end food. Highly recommended.

Our favourite restaurant and it didn’t disappoint, fabulous atmosphere great food and wine and impeccable service. We had the festive menu, each course complimenting each other, starting with a carrot and swede soup. We chose the tasting menu with wine and the pairings were perfect. Courses ranging from Scallops through to Christmas pudding, perfect menu for this time of year.

We were back again at Ronnies this week, service great as usual. This time we had the festive tasting menu, meat and veggie. Both were excellent and good value for money. Another wonderful evening at one our favourite restaurants. You really must try it! We will be returning again soon for another enjoyable evening.

We came here on spec and were absolutely thrilled. Ronnies has so much going for it: the interior is warm and welcoming and beautifully appointed. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. Our starters of Scallops and a Ham Hock were beautifully presented and really well thought out. We both had Loin of Venison for the main course which was served with poached pear and sliced parsnip that was caramelised with a delicious jus. A pudding of Bramley apple crumble with Calvados cream completed the meal. Everything was seasoned beautifully and nothing too salty so we were really happy. We shall certainly return and feel this restaurant deserves more accolades.

I’ve eaten in many restaurants over the years, with the most important element for me being taste, atmosphere and great service, and Ronnie’s not only ticks every box but simply blasts them apart. Invited by friends for a meal, based on their recommendation alone, with no prior research - I approached the unassuming frontage with excitement and trepidation. Sad as it may sound, seeing the highly burnished stainless steel kitchen surfaces from the window filled my heart with joy as I approached the entrance. Greeted with a smile, a nod and swept effortlessly to our table, the anticipation was building. Comfortably seated in a small yet perfectly positioned dining space it wasn’t long before the joy began. Not one, not two but three amuse bouche arrived in equal turn, dancing around my palate, presentation matching taste in equal turn! Let the tasting menu begin, sad to say no photos were taken, such was the excitement. Crab, scallops, cod and lamb were all on show, and were very much the stars of the evening, at such a level as only previously experienced in restaurants with Michelin stars. The wine flight throughout was spot on, providing some insight into some niche producers, but also good to stumble across noble rot, my old friend. I’ve said too much already, and you’ve probably lost interest by now, but this restaurant is something special. The chef obviously has a passion for outstanding food and flavour, the waiting staff have a passion for creating a warm, friendly yet efficient convivial atmosphere, and the wine knowledge was excellent- often missing in many restaurants these days. This place is amazing, shame it’s almost an hour away, but I will be back and will encourage everyone I know to go. Ronnie, I salute you.

We arrived for dinner on my special birthday, after staying at the castle. What a fabulous cosy place this is, we were served by Richard such a lovely friendly guy that took the time to talk to us and made us feel very welcome. The velvet scallops and cod option were sensational and something I will never forget, my partner had the lamb and although from Wales said it was the best he'd ever tasted. Thank you Richard and Ronnie's for making my night one to remember.

Visited this fabulous restaurant for Sunday lunch with friends today, and cannot recommend it highly enough. The environment was truly spectacular. The old school building was decorated beautifully, and when combined with a warm welcome and friendly staff we had a thoroughly enjoyable meal. However, a beautiful setting is not always a guarantee of a good meal… and we weren’t disappointed! From the starter (salmon and haddock fish cakes which I could have eaten all day!) to the fabulous roast beef, and then to the melt in the mouth crumble, I thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. We came across this little gem when wandering around the lovely Thornbury and deciding where to have lunch. Now, it didn't have a menu outside, but because it looked so inviting didn't stop us from going in totally blind. The welcome was exceptional and continued throughout the meal. Very attentive and discreet, and considering we were the only patrons for a while, it didn't feel awkward nor instrusive. We had the express menu which gave us a chance to expand our palate, and I'm so glad we did. The dishes were presented, cooked and flavoured exceptionally. It was a real unexpected treat for our weekend away.

We keep returning to Ronnies. It’s such an excellent restaurant with innovative delicious food. The service is excellent as well. Everything you need in this small, friendly restaurant. I’m sure we will be back again soon.
