Pretty poor, I wouldn't rush back. Wine glasses were Filthy. The waiter threw the cutlery on the table. The food was lovely, but not what we ordered or were expecting - my aubergine side was clearly courgette and my partner's pasanda was a satay. To cap it off they tried to overcharge us for the wine. Not a good experience

We really enjoyed our curries tonight, we had takeaway which we hadn't had for a long time, delivery was prompt, food delicious nice and hot.

We booked a table of eight people for dinner when we arrived hardly any customers there, then another two table walked in, the staff are friendly and welcoming, service very poor. the food is gone downhill, bland and tasteless, it’s a shame really. Ate here whilst on hols in a caravan park nearby. Greeted warmly and was lead to our table lovely decor low ceiling with black beams staff were all dressed smart .We had poppadoms to start and when we ordered our mains my mother has a nut allergy so the waiter checked what she ordered was ok for her,i had chicken rogon mum chicken dupiaza we shared a veg rice and onion bhajis food was lovely i had 2 bottles of cobra mum bottle 00 kingfisher.When we asked for the bill were given mint chocolate and complimentary baileys bill was £40 i was expecting more will definately eat here again.On the way out a guy who i think was the owner shook my hand and bid us good evening recommend

Have regularly driven past this Indian Restaurant for the last 20 years as it is on a main road but only decided to go in on the Basis they where the only restaurant open on Sundays in the area that interested us as in the menu with an extensive range of dishes at reasonable prices. + a very nice touch at the end of the meal with a shot of Bailey s each Thank you.

Have ordered from Romney spice a few times and food is always excellent. They are very thorough when it comes to gluten free , and went through all the ingredients to make sure. Staff are really helpful and happy to accommodate to my dietary requirements. 10/10 - best curry in the area.

Table for two and chose the Thursday night 5 course menu for £14.95 p/p. We really enjoyed our meal. Very tasty, plentiful and nicely presented. Served on hot plates by very pleasant staff. Would highly recommend.

Greatly food and some good deals on different days

We visited the Romney Spice on Monday evening, so unsurprisingly it was very quiet in the restaurant. The waiter was very helpful, advising us on our choices as the menu was extensive with a number of "Chef's Specials" which we had not come across before. My husband had a mutton special which was recommended and I had a mixed massala with peanuts. We were both very happy with our meals and the service we received.

From booking through to service whilst there, cannot be faulted. The food was very very good, delivered by cheery attentive staff. Will be back for more. I'd give 6 stars if the system allowed.

Stopped off here while staying in the area. Arrived dinner time on a Friday. Only 3 other tables were taken. Quite empty! Staff were welcoming and friendly, although hard not to hear some of them coughing phlegm up, which was distracting to say the least. Food arrived quick. The food arrived with a skin on it (previously mentioned in another review). The curry’s all tasted a bit bland and sauces were gloppy thick. Not the worst Indian food I’ve had. Wouldn’t visit again if in town.

Ordered a takeaway a few times now - each time the curry was cooked to absolute perfection - and as hot as I asked for!! The staff were attentive and good natured and made me feel comfortable with my fussing over the order

Pretty poor. 2 of 5 were happy with their food, the rest were bland. My madras was a poor imitation of one. And the waiters! Didn't understand what we were saying, appeared surly or rude. One off the list I'm afraid.

Great strong flavors. The tandoori chicken is amazing. Nice tables with a view of the highstreet.

Always use as our choice of Indian for take away/delivery. Always had great food and lovely service.

Pretty bad. I don't usually leave a bad review but this is deserved. We were served randomly by 3 different waiters. Not very organised. Waited over an hour for our mains and sides. Massala and chips were warm at best. The saag paneer had a skin on the top where it was sat for so long. Naan was pretty good but how much can that save the evening? Staff weren't very attentative atall. One waiter even hacking with a phlegmy cough as he was laying our mains down. I wouldn't come back or recommend based on my evening. All other tables were served chocolates and shots of baileys which we didn't receive. I spent £55 and had a double rum and coke. I'll thank captn Morgan for that as it was the best bit of the meal 👍🏻 2/5 (piss poor)

This is a new venue to us and it won't be the only time we visit. Lovely old place with head banging beams, uneven walls and a proper old layout. The staff are really good at their jobs and unlike many, they smile and have a laugh with you, personally I like this. The food is delicious and not swimming in ghee, I always have a jalfreze which is aromatic, spicy without the sting of a vindaloo and here it was perfect, so very tasty, my guests ate everything that they had ordered proving that their food was also perfect. We were treated almost like family rather than just customers, thank you all at 'Romney Spice'.

Ordered a take away from here, the service was very good but I felt the naans were small, dry and chewy, chicken in korma was not great, mango chutney was strange, rice and popadoms were fine. Wouldn’t race to find there again.

A lovely India restaurant. The food is very good and attentive staff make your time there special. The smell of the food being brought out is quite distracting.

We had to give this restaurant a try after checking out nearby restaurants. We didn't book ahead but managed to get seated straight away. The food was really good and the service was excellent. We recommend the lamb mirchi, chicken tikka sally, keema rice, and peswari naan. Happily recommended.

I think these guys just serve you what’s left at the end of the night. My food felt like a mix of anything that remained in the kitchen come the end of the night. I have given this place a few chances but never again !

A fantastic Indian restaurant and takeaway, which provided an excellent meal for us all before the estimated time to our holiday park for a reasonable price. We all enjoyed the meal and would recommend the food!

Most of the Indian restaurants we've eaten in so far in the UK have been great, but this one was one of the worst experiences. Not that the food wasn't good, but everything else was disappointing: the high prices for the skimpy portions, strange service staff who gave the impression they'd never waited tables before. We had such a strange feeling that we preferred to pay cash.

Lovely food and great atmosphere. Went with my family and they loved the food, they have a kids option but the kids didn’t want that and chose Indian dishes which was customised by the manager lll to their liking. Staff are very friendly and attentive.

Haven’t been here for over a year, sadly staff have changed , no attention to look after us ! Watered down yogurt and mango dips, salty poppadums. Ordered a dish that I’ve always had it didn’t even look the same let alone taste as it should. Won’t ever go back to this restaurant they need to up their game in all respects 😞

Went here with my husband and three friends, we live local and have been here before but quite a while ago and was reasonably very good. Sadly we all agreed that this was the worst Indian meal we have ever had. The poppadoms was salty, the mint, yoghurt, and mango chutney were like water! My friend asked for hers to be mild, but came out extremely hot and spicy and complaining. They took it away and talked her into having butter prawns which is a mild dish. Again, this was watery and had no flavour, she didn’t eat it. It was so horrible. They knocked off the price of the poppadoms and her meal, but all of us agreed. It wasn’t nice at all.. There was no table check, and no one came to see if we wanted another drink. The service was diabolical and begrudged, leaving a tip. Needless to say we won’t ever be going back!

On a long weekend break at Marlie Caravan Park. Ordered delivery from restaurant. Delivered well on time. Food first class. From Luton with many fine Indian restaurant. Romney Spice as good as and better than some. Reasonable priced and good portion sizes. Well done .

Things did not start too well with the first service of pappadums tasting badly as if cooked in old oil. The second lot were better and things improved from there. I always think that if an Indian restaurant can produce a good Naan bread then that says a lot and they did just that. Charred and crusty on the outside, soft and buttery inside. My main was likewise excellent with chilli spice level as described in the menu. An excellent dish with a name I did not recognise but which was rich and very tasty. Decor is fine inside and service was adequate. So worth a try if in the area.

Went on Sunday afternoon, just after regular lunch hours. Found to be open all afternoon. Food hot, good quantity and leaving us wanting more.

Don't go by the price of the 4 course listed as £11.95 outside - as it's gone up when you get inside, to £13.95 for 4 courses!

BEWARE to check your takeaway order, last time papadom missing, this time one rice missing it realy spoilt the meal and has left me very cross, oh and you can't ring them to complain just goes to automated third party system.... the food we had was nice such a shame

Stumbled upon this restaurant whilst on our travels. The restaurant has made available copies of their menu for passers by to take and peruse at their leisure....We were quite impressed with their vast selection of meals available... ...so it was decided to take advantage of their services and we ordered some food to be delivered.. Meals ordered were a Chicken Tikka Sally and a Fish Shatkora Bhuna together with a couple of popadoms special rice and a Nan.... In fairness the food was delivered in a timely fashion and was hot... However the quality of the meals was something else....The Chicken dish was found to have little taste from the sauce and the chicken itself was dry....as for the Fish dish this was tasteless and very bland with regards to the fish? What fish??? certainly no obvious signs that any such creature had been mixed in with the sauce.....All in all a very poor experience and it is unlikely that any further interest will be considered in the future... Value for money??? perhaps 6/10 Certainly unable to recommend

Really dissapointed. Ordered a takeaway for two people.... The poppadoms and bread were great but the rest of it was shocking. A madras which was basically water, not a sauce. The same for the mint yoghurt, and the whole meal was at best luke warm, and im being generous, when it arrived. I would never order again.

This was the best Indian take away we have had in years! The curry's were cooked to perfection and sauces were full of flavour and grease free, the rice was fluffy, the breads were soft and tasty and the popadoms were lovely and crisp. Will definitely be coming here again to try the rest of the menu!

Excellent food with an extensive menu. My wife and I had salmon tikka masala which was a first for both of us. Despite being busy and not having booked, we were found a table and the staff were attentive. The food was excellent.

Waited 55 minutes for food. Wrong food when arrived. A Main dish was far too salty. Another dish contained nuts when wasn't asked about allergy. We had young kids too. Waited at the bar for bill then got accused of not paying!

Poor service, long wait times for food, seem more interested in fulfilling takeaway orders than looking after customers in restaurant, wrong food provided, can't even provide bill promptly waited over 15 minutes and accused us of not paying (they actually walked down to where I was parked to accuse me of not paying, whilst my partner was still waiting at bar to pay!) Just awful really! Will not be returning.
