DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE. They are no longer in business but somehow you can still place an order, and have payment taken, online ! No answer when trying to contact. AWFUL

We have been ordering from Romna for years, everything has always been great. Until tonight we ordered a takeaway at 6pm, it still hasn't arrived, tried calling got voicemail box that was full apparently. Really disappointed that there is no way of contacting the restaurant They have now lost regular customers

Went on the Romna website to order takeaway. Put in the order, it was accepted and we received an email to say so. Waited an hour, no show, rang and all we got was their voicemail inbox. No meal ever arrived. Have no idea what is going on with this restaurant, but we will be avoiding now. We gave up on eating in but thought we'd give the take away a go, never again! Disgusting service. Close your website down and stop letting people order if you don't intend to provide the meals ordered!

I arrived around 30 minutes before closing time, I apologise and was assured that everything would be fine. However, the food turned up rather quickly (microwave?) And was made to feel uncomfortable and rushed.

After a long time a had an amazing taste of curry and service is good friendly staff, under new owners its an amazing place in Rugby for family and friends dinners.

Don’t order from here!! Took 1.5hr to turn up, missing most items, prawn cocktail was yellow sauce and was absolutely disgusting couldn’t even open the tub🤢. Poor customer service and just couldn’t be bothered to help out. Won’t be ordering from here again.

First visit since being taken over by new owners. The food is really really good, all new chefs and feint of house. Worth every penny

My Indian takeaway meal was really disappointing. Not to the usual standard.

Ordered Indian chicken biryani and was very disappointed as it doesn't even tasted like biriyani. Not used any of the Indian biriyani spices.

No longer serves alcohol! Still have wine and drinks list on the tables despite only stocking soft drinks. We were offered a discount for this inconvenience but this never came to fruition. Despite this; the food was good but we will not be returning.

Food was good but no longer serve alcohol. This is not mentioned on their website so when you book a table online you don't know this. The restaurant was freezing too which doesn't make for a pleasant environment to eat in. We were the only people in too so no atmosphere. Will stick to take aways in future.

Have used and recommended Romna for over 12 years. They've recently come under new ownership. Ordered on the website yesterday. Order accepted. Payment taken. After an hour, I called to see where it was. No answer, so I left a message. Hour and a half. Nothing. Two hours and I drive into town to find out what is going on: sign on window saying that they are not open Mondays. Website and Facebook page say they are. Messaged. Emailed. Called tonight. Twice. Waiter calls the Boss who I hear say that he won't call me from his home phone to refund and that I can wait. Only email I have received is saying that my order has been cancelled... 24 hours later. Checked bank: money not refunded. Terrible, terrible service. Felt sorry for the waiter. We won't be using them again. Maharajah next door were very helpful.

I feel so sad having to write a bad review as we have been using the Romna for over 30 years. We went out with our family, including a nearly 2 year old, for a meal on a Saturday evening. We booked a table for 5 pm. and asked for a highchair. No highchair was available so we had to sit her on a normal chair. We haven't eaten in the restaurant for some time so we were very disappointed to find they no longer sell alcohol, not sure why but I would have thought this should be put on their website for when you book so if you would rather enjoy a glass of vino or a beer, you can choose to go elsewhere. The restaurant was cold, the atmosphere was awful (we were there nearly 2 hours and were the only people in there) and when I mentioned that we were not aware of the new rule (been no alcohol served since 28th February) and I thought it might be advisable to put it on their website the waiter just walked away without a word! Not even an apology or a yes we should! The food when it arrived was OK, lots of meat, but one of us had the butter chicken and the sauce was more like soup. Everything else was fine, and the man who was running the place (covering for his brother who owned it) was very helpful. A real let down and sadly this will be our last visit for a meal, we will stick to take away in future. I really feel that they either have to become just a take away, get their licence back or have a bring your own booze rule! When you treat yourself to a meal out (which for many of us isn't that often nowadays) you don't want to sit in a cold empty restaurant without the opportunity to have a nice drink with it!

Way above your average curry for sure, lovely quality meat and some unusual choices. Thoroughly recommended.

Well had Indian last night me and my partner from the start we turned it out on to the plate partner said it was watery and tasteless witch it was popdoms was lovely the yougurt sauce was off !! To it was so sour and like slime I wasn’t going to do review but today I woke up at 6am throwing up I have been on the sofa all day with stomach cramps throwing up 100% sure I have food poisoning from this place never tried it be for now and wow never going back

We went out for a meal for my daughters birthday it was well disappointing four of us got our food small portions with little chicken pieces wife ordered kemma nann bread it stunk of fish she didn't even attempt to try it we are all curry lovers this is the worst ontop of that the soft drinks were over priced and no fizz to them £3.50 I nearly fainted. We never going back there.Hill Murray indian is the best you wouldn't be disappointed with them

Unfortunately I’m having to delete my previous 5 star review and re-do it as 1 star. I’ve been a few times for the Sunday buffet and it’s been worse each time. They obviously don’t like this deal, so I’m not sure why they offer it. They make you feel really unwelcome, rush you and try to force you to order the mains at the same time as the starters. Once you order the menus are swiftly taken away, making it clear you shouldn’t order anything else despite it supposedly being unlimited. On the most recent visit we said we wanted to have our starters first and then think about mains after. He said ok, then came back when we were mid way through our starters and said we had to order our mains right now as the chef had to go home. This was 3pm and the restaurant was open until like 10pm so I don’t really get what that was all about. It’s not just us either. I previously recommended this place to lots of friends and family - all of the ones who have been back recently have had similar experiences. I just don’t get it. If you don’t want people to use the service, don’t offer it. Why not do a set menu deal instead? Makes absolutely no sense, makes customers feel unwelcome and is generally rude. I’ve totally blacklisted this place now and won’t be going back. Will be passing on my feedback to the people I introduced to this place too. Shame as the food is generally really good.

Amazing food excellent service overall an amazing experience would recommend

Visited on a Tuesday night and it was very quiet. Not sure why, couldn't find fault with anything. We had a variety of dishes including starters, sides, mains, breads and rice, 4 different curries, everything was fantastic! Food and drink prices very reasonable, staff are polite and knowledgeable. The restaurant itself is modern and clean. We even got a complimentary drink afterwards which we weren't expecting. All in all a very pleasant experience and I would highly recommend a visit to Romna.

Three of us went for a meal, two were fine, however the lamb in my husbands was very tough. I think it died of old age! We were the only people in there all evening, which says a lot when the one next door was busy. The waiter was very attentive, though you got the feeling that he was waiting for us to leave so they could close. Will probably try somewhere else next time.

Worst Indian I have had for many years ! We ordered 4 different main courses and all was not good !!!

Not sure why this place is not the highest ranked in reviews. We have eaten at a number of Indian restaurants in Rugby ranked higher than Romna and their food is no where near as good. We discovered this place a few weeks ago and have been back twice since and every single time the food has been constantly brilliant. Highly recommend!

We went for a curry on a Sunday evening & didn't realize it was a buffet. Waiter sat us @ a window table which was nice. We were the only 2 in there. We had a poppadum each then a starter. I was halfway through eating when the waiter wheeled out the main courses & stood by my side. I said I'm still eating but he didn't move so my husband asked him to take the food away please as I hadn't finished my starter. This the waiter did & returned saying how long do you need five minutes? ten minutes. I quickly tried to finish my starter & then he brought the main courses out. I asked the waiter why he was rushing us & he said they closed @ 10pm. My husband replied "but it's only quarter to nine". The waiter offered us a free drink which we declined as by then we just wanted to leave. As we were finishing our main course 2 gentlemen came in & were seated. I asked the waiter why he was prepared to serve other people just before 9:30 when he was rushing us @ 8:45. Again he offered us a free drink which again we declined. We asked for the bill & I went to the ladies whilst waiting. On my return my husband was standing by the bar & asked me if I had any cash because the waiter said the card machine had broken & was cash payment only. The waiter told my husband where the nearest cash point was however we didn't know whether he expected me to stay whilst my husband went to get cash, whether he would have trusted us both to go & go back with the money or whether he would have escorted us to a cash point. Luckily we had enough cash on us to pay. Food was really good but the service was so bad we will never return

You go for a meal and you get so much more, really friendly waiter, amazing food and all for a reasonable price. I definitely recommend the chef specials. If I had to pick a bad point it would have to be the price of the drinks.

Ordered via Uber Eats, wrong order delivered. Called Romna thinking they would rectify. How wrong was I, they were not interested whatsoever. Disgusting customer service, lessons learnt will not be using ever again

Will not be using again, ordered via Uber eats and received someone else’s order. Called Romna and they were not interested at all. They kept saying Uber eats will sort it out. Disgraceful customer service. Shame as the food was always good, but you’ve lost a customer who’s spend per month was substantial.

Ordered a takeaway via the internet, phoned before hand to check on waiting times as it was new years eve, was told would be ready in 30 minutes. Ordered and arrived to pick up 30 minutes later to find my food was not ready, was told it would be 5 minutes. 25 minutes had passed with no food in sight despite being told several times it would only be 5 minutes. My order was brought out to me only to find it was not my order. By now 8-10 other orders had left the restaurant for delivery or pickup. All staff disappeared from the front desk and my order finally arrived 50 minutes after it should have. On arrival at home found that we were short 1 portion of Onion Bhajis and all of the Naan breads were not as ordered. The food was warm at best and not particularly tasty. Overall not impressed and will not return again.

The first curry I’ve had in this area that wasn’t the regular sickly sweet sauce and dry meat. The lamb in the red curry was properly tender and the standard chicken tikka masala was delicious. This will definitely be my regular from now on.

I ordered a takeaway via just eat for 8.05 pm. The order didn't arrive. I inquired about the delay and was told the driver was stuck in traffic and the order would arrive by 8.45 pm. The order still didn't arrive until well after 9pm. I'm sceptical about traffic being a problem because I only live 10 minutes from the restaurant and our area was quiet. The delivery person gave a different excuse - simply that the restaurant was busy - and walked away rudely as I started to explain (politely) that the lateness was inconvenient. The food was nice but the lateness and lack of clarity spoiled the experience. We'd had a long day and just wanted some dinner at dinner time. I'd much rather this restaurant didn't accept an order than deliver one so late. In short, highly recommended if you want nice food at a significantly later time than expected.

Found this place after a quick internet search and call to ensure they had a table. Friendly, warm welcome, relaxed atmosphere and great service. Very tasty, well presented food, piping hot. Will be sure to return when next in the area.

Not great, Tandoori mixed grill was dry and clearly not fresh, dry hard lamb, leathery Naan. Bland Saag Paneer Prawn dish was okay

The food was over an hour late . I rang the restaurant and they said 2-3 minutes . Obviously that was a lie . Don't even bother with this restaurant , it would be quicker to fly to India and bring the ingredients back yourself. Food was cold , what is the actual point of a takeaway if you have to heat it up yourself ? I might as well brought a microwave meal from Aldi if that was the case . Save your money and shop elsewhere . Also I bet they reply with customer satisfaction is our motto looking at the other reviews , more lies . Also I've never had to walk to go pick up a delivery order because it ended up in the wrong place ... AVOID AVOID AVOID

I was so disappointed with this takeaway- I have been to the restaurant on several occasions and had me excellent food but this takeaway was one of the worst I’ve ever had. The kids had chicken and chips - both of which had clearly been cooked hours before and were rock hard. My daughter snapped a chip like a crisp!! We ordered 6 popadoms but got enough sauce for 2. My madras was chicken in dolmio sauce with added spice. Nothing else. Whole thing was a complete waste of money. To reiterate- I’ve loved visiting the restaurant bit this meal means I never will again.

Only tried Sunday buffet but it was outstanding. Particularly pleased that it was all cooked to order rather than self serve. Absolutely bargain at a tenner. Watch out for drinks, as usual that's where the money is. Go for tap water!

Been coming here for years and always get a tasty curry and one of the better naan breads for takeaway i have found. Always very friendly and food tasty.

We always used to go to Romna if we were going out for an Indian. Service and quality was always good but when we went quite recently, on a Saturday evening, there weren't many people eating and the restaurant seemed to have lost it's character. Service was poor to the point that we had to ask staff to clear the table after we'd finished our meal. Don't think we'll be going back there.

Delivery driver rude when he was lost. I was told I'd got my own address wrong! Restaurant kept ringing me telling me it was the fault of my post code!!! AVOID unless you'd like no dinner and rude drivers.

We came here initially as we had a groupon that was quite a good deal. Never been before as we are new to the area. We would definitely return. The food was really good and quite big portions with a lot of meat in the curries. The staff were really nice and welcoming and you couldn’t fault them.

Decided to go for an Indian for birthday meal this Sunday. I was pleasantly surprised that they had buffet menu for only a tenner per head for an adult. Unlike other places you could still choose whatever you liked off the menu and it was freshly cooked to order. As previous person said poppadoms and chutneys are extra but naan are included on buffet price. The dessert choice was ice cream but superb for the price will definitely go again. Great attentive service.

i came here we a group of work colleagues for a Christmas gathering, on a quiet Thursday evening. The food was OK although my lamb pasanda was low on meat and tasted overcooked. Certainly wasn't the best indian meal I had but I would eat here again when i'm next in the town. Service was slow on our visit and we waited a long time between courses which was surprising considering how quiet the place was on that particular evening.

Sunday all you can eat buffet, great value, lots of choice, very tasty food all cooked to order, just the very slow service for ordering drinks and food that let it down otherwise would have been 5 stars.

Tonight l ate at the Romna in Albert Street, Rugby, Wks and had a really delicious meal. The best Indian food l have ever tasted. It was perfectly spice and cooked beautifully. The lamb melted in my mouth. An excellent menu,reasonably priced and friendly staff. If you are quick you can go on Groupon and get a voucher for £19.95 for two people to have a 3 course meal and soft drink, but go anyway.

.We visited midweek and enjoyed a lovely meal. We were impressed with the variety of dishes on the menu , some we certainly had not seen anywhere else. Portion sizes were generous and the use of spices was very good.

Second takeaway from Romna and once again it was brilliant. It arrives hot, has been earlier than stated both times and included several extras which are a lovely touch. The quality has been excellent, consistent and I thoroughly recommend.

Treated by hubby on Wednesday when the Romna have a midweek deal. Starter, main, rice or nan and a side for £11.95 each! Not a choice from set choices these are choices from the whole menu.

Went in for the Sunday buffet and was really surprised by the quality of the food which was tasty too. It was relatively quiet but the staff were friendly and polite, even though my son was playing up and refusing to sit down quietly. My only warning is the poppadoms aren't included in the buffet so you pay extra for them, it may be in the small print, but I didn't check.

The food was very good and the service polite, however it took two and a half hours to eat two courses. We went early because we had small children in our party and the whole thing took far too long.

I went here for the Sunday buffet, and overall was impressed with the quality and value. The food was delicious and plentiful. It's not like a traditional buffet, you order from the menu, and the food is cooked freshly and brought to your table. The staff were also very kind and attentive.

Not what it used to be, had a take away of Tandoori mixed grill which was very over cooked. My partner had a combo option which was bland and tasteless. Had popadoms with a poor selection of options. Over all a very poor meal and will not be ordering from this business again. A real shame as this used to be my go to restaurant.

We visited here on Saturday night, it was pouring with rain so very quiet in town, started with poppadoms, 6 different condiments which were all good, I went for Tandoori chicken tikka, my other half tried a special king prawn with ginger, the smell was lush before the food arrived, sizzling we also tried cocoanut rice and peshwari naan, the food was really good and not too oily! But the best thing was the service, the staff could not do enough to please. Also a good sign was although quiet inside, the takeaway service was bonkers. will be back!

This was our first visit to the Romna, First appearance was a neat,clean and tidy establishment with Asian carving on the wall. We were greeted very well and shown to our table. The beer was cold and tasty, we’ll kept. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Jay introduced himself and was very attentive. The menu had over 100 items , we ordered the starter which came very quickly and was very tasty. Then came the main courses which were delicious. We were sent on our way with “ please come again “ which was a very pleasant experience. The bill was not excessive for a Sunday meal . We will certainly re visit this establishment.
