Romeo & Juliet Restaurant in Calderdale

Came yesterday for the first time, we've been meaning to come for ages. So glad we did, we had curried goat meat plus rice and peas with salad. Oh so nice, we came early so had to wait but it was all freshly made so worth it, dumpling on the side too, forgot that. Staff so lovely, helpful and cheerful, also we had a plate of freshly made chips, not french fries, proper chips. we asked for some more dumplings and they made some extra for us. It is Carribean food, not sure if they have it every day, looked on website it said Italian but we wanted the carribean. Delicious

Stopped off for a meal before a concert at the Victoria. It was wet outside but lovely in the tastefully decorated restaurant. The food was delicious, I recommend the jerk chicken. Large portions and great service.

Romeo and Juliet's has recently reopened as a Caribbean restaurant. We went there before going to the Victoria Theatre, just up the hill. The staff were friendly and helpful and the chef came out to talk us through the menu. We started with a delicious fruit platter followed by a mixed starter with salt fish, crispy chicken, dumpling and plantain. For our mains we chose jerk chicken and brownstew chicken with rice'n'peas and sweet potato chips. The food was delicious and the service was prompt and friendly. We would certainly eat there again!

This place has recently reopened as a Caribbean restaurant. A group of us (5) thought we would give it a try and we were not disappointed. The staff were excellent and once seated, the chef, Paul, came out to meet us and told us what he had planned for our evening and asked who was for chicken and who was for lamb (2 chicken 3 lamb). Out came 2 massive fruit platters, followed by 2 baskets of bread. Then came a tasty mix of 4 delicious starters which went down very well. Finally came the mains along with 2 side dishes of salad and some sweet potato fries. I had the lamb and it melted in my mouth it was so tender. I’ve never known us to be so quiet. The presentation of all the food was amazing (see photos) and we had a fabulous evening. So fabulous we have booked again before we left. Very reasonably priced too!

The restaurant is in a hotel and it lacked finesse. It was quite cold and I requested the heating be turned on but it wasn’t. The restaurant owners family were there with a noisy young child who was chased around by an adult with little appreciation for others. However, the food was excellent and a lovely surprise. Green lipped mussels in a tomato sauce tasted fresh. The lobster ravioli was served with a creamy sauce. Mick had the lobster linguini, another scrumptious dish. The chef came and spoke to us a was a friendly Italian. This place serves authentic food, a breathe of fresh air from your usual Prezzo or Ask.

Dined here with my husband before an event at Piece Hall. Really enjoyed and would definitely return. Food was delicious, even the complimentary bread! We had starters of bruschetta and ribs - the portion sizes were huge! My husband had a pizza and I had the garlic and Rosemary chicken, with rosemary roast potatoes. Absolutely amazing!! Could do with a non-alcoholic wine as would have made a good accompaniment. Also didn’t really enjoy the radio being played with DJs talking and adverts. The young waitress was absolutely lovely - really helpful and polite and a credit to the restaurant! Can’t wait to return!

I would love to see this place packed to the rafters. An unexpected find that exceeded all expectations. Lovely staff, amazing food and immaculately clean (pls can I have your cleaners details!) Cannot recommend highly enough please try this unassuming venue x

Delicious lunch, was very quiet for Saturday lunch, but lovely food and service, delicious pizza and spare ribs, will call again

We ordered a takeout on Saturday for 5 of us . Some had starters all had mains and a couple of side salads. We were picking the food up and it was ready at the promised time. We got home and found very generous portions and the food was lovely and tasty also piping hot . Have recommended this to all my family and friends. We visited this place regularly before it changed hands. As soon as I am more relaxed about COVID we will definitely eat in the restaurant. Thanks for a lovely meal guys .

Ordered online for the family. Over an hour later and the driver called to say he was lost. Apparently it was our fault the council had closed a road, told us we should have notified them that a road en-route was closed and they cancelled our order. Incredibly rude and obnoxious staff, never got to taste the food. One disappointed little girl. Definitely won’t be ordering/visiting again. Appalling attitude and overpriced to begin with. Willing to give them a go to begin with, never again.

Exceptional Service - I had never signed at this restaurant before and I was really surprised by the quality of the food for the price I paid. Excellent Value 3x course meal x 2 people and 4 X soft drinks £40 ish using there Early Bird Menu and with Eat Out to Help Out.... I paid just £20.... The service from all the staff was excellent. I really enjoyed the Venue, the Food and the Banter with the staff.... Special Mention to Super Mario.... His recommendation for the main meal for myself Chicken, Cheese and Ham on Pasta with tomatoe sauce it was Excellent 2x meals in one. I can't thank the Staff, the Owner and Venue enough so much so we have been back 4x times in total throughout August. I know friends and family have been aswell, on different dates since our 1st Visit and they have all commented the food was excellent. And we have booked to come back in the next couple of weeks in September as well. I would strongly recommend anyone to give the restaurant another try Under The New Management. This was our first visit to this venue. For starters we had Calamari and bread with Olives. For our main courses we both had Calzone. They were very large and had great fillings, very enjoyable. The service was good and the tables were socially spaced apart. We were given a 25% discount which was a bonus.

Party of 4, booked a table online and was seated as soon as we arrived for lunch. Early bird menu is fantastic, I had bruschetta to start which was delicious and a traditional vegetarian pizza for 12.95. both were delicious and good portions. Lovely, friendly service and a bright and airy dining room. Definitely recommend!

Exceptional service. Romeo & Juliets has always had nice food but now under new management the food is fabulous. Not overloaded and presented in a professional manner. The staff were friendly and approachable. I highly recommend this Italian restaurant.

Had a lovely meal. We had the garlic tomato bread to start. I had sea bass and OH had lamb shank. Both were very good. Staff were attentive and friendly. Special mention for Mario [Super Mario] our waiter. He was fantastic. Will definitely be back.

We booked a early evening meal for two. When we arrived it was a shock to see only a small difference in the table layout from when we had visited before. It was a good job there were not many people eating at that time. The meal was very nice but we won’t go again until the Coronavirus problem has been sorted out. Such a shame!

Romeo & Juliet restaurant was great! This was my second visit to the place- both times my meals have been tasty along with great service.I feel I am in an authentic environment along with great English and Italian food!They were more than welcome to comply my needs and change the starter mussels into a main dish for me... they were amazing! I had bruschetta to start and mussels for main, my boyfriend has the garlic mushrooms to start and salmon with shellfish for his main, all fantastic- would highly recommend.

went here to celebrate a 21st a group of 7, booked a table to eat at 7.15, still had not got a table at 7.50 we complained-no apology staff rude and they even charged us full price for our soft drinks robbing gets as it 50% off during eat out to help out! we needed to eat at 7.15 as had to be elsewhere at 9, too many booking had been taken they said it is very busy so why do we book a table for a certain time?? a lady i know was in the restaurant and said they were trying to rush people we LEFT and will not be returning , people came in 15 minutes after us and got tables straight away??TERRIBLE SERVICE STAY AWAYUNESS YOU HAVE ALL NIGHT TO WAIT

This restaurant is under new management so I was willing to give it a try, so glad I did the place is nicely appointed with a comfy area to enjoy a pre meal drink, attentive staff and a pleasant ambience. The menu is very good, offering plenty of choice to suit both your pallet and wallet. Authentic Italian food was my choice of antipasto, a scrumptious buffalo mozzarella caprese, I have only experienced this in Milan as being the same quality in both taste and presentation. I love steak and ordered a tomahawk steak for my main course (I know not strictly Italian) it was cooked to perfection, served and carved at our table by the chef, Giuseppe (formerly head chef of Prego in brighouse) the meat sourced from a local butcher and you could tell the quality and taste was excellent. The choices of wine is also very good, not extensive but again enough to suit most tastes and pockets. I cannot recommend Romeo and Juliets enough, definitely the best authentic Italian restaurant in Halifax.

My husband and I came here for my birthday and we weren't disappointed. My husband had the t bone steak and I had the chicken a la creme. They were cooked just right and tasted amazing. The service was really friendly and efficient. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

Having dined here twice in the last week, I found the food to be superb. The surroundings and menu are fairly simple, but the price point doesn't suggest otherwise. The food is an example of home-cooked Italian at its best. I was particularly impressed on my first visit, my steak was overcooked (there must have been some kind of mix up in the kitchen) and before I had the chance to even comment, the chef came out and with many apologies whisked my plate away insisting on cooking me another meal. A lot of restaurants these days would just either hope that the diner didn't notice or that they remained quintessentially British and didn't complain. The food is delicious and plentiful, and affordable enough to call in for a tea time bite to eat. Looking forward to my next visit.

Looking for somewhere quick and easy to eat on a Tuesday night in Halifax. The town was dead, everywhere was shut but we stumbled upon here. It felt like we'd stumbled into Fawlty Towers but it smelt amazing and actually the food didnt disappoint at all. Huge portions, I was even asked if I wanted to take my leftover spaghetti carbonara home!! Pizza for breakfast yes, spaghetti no!!!It was so quiet in the restaurant, no atmosphere whatsoever, it felt like I was sitting in a train station waiting room of old. Everything could do with bringing up to date by 20 years but having said that the food was pretty delicious and at the end of the day that's why we were there. Don't expect a romantic experience but if you're looking for large portions and decent food, this could be the place for you.

The staff are really friendly, especially the waiter. The food was also very nice and the portion size of the food is very generous.

Dinner with friends on Christmas Eve was a delight. Not especially busy so ideal for quiet conversation and after the meal Carlo had time to come for a chat about our experience. My starter of home-made pate with chopped salad and toast was well presented and delicious, while our main courses of steak Diane with mushroom and Marsala sauce, Lamb chops and Sea Bass fillets were all cooked to perfection. Though I was full of pate my friends had room for the largest profiteroles I've seen in Britain, equal to the best in Central Europe and smothered in chocolate sauce.

Great little restaurant. Went with family for a lunchtime meal and the staff, especially our waiter Petrit, were welcoming and friendly. Food was excellent, I had a Calabrese pizza which was delicious. Great value and highly recommended.

Very disappointed with the food and service. We were told they had only one chef on as the other had gone on holiday, even though this was the busiest time of the year. We waited over half an hour for the starters to arrive, even though there were only 3 other tables with couples (so 6 others in the restaurant. Another hour for the main course. The food was dreadful. 3 out of the 4 meals ordered were not good. My husband ordered chicken in a peach sauce, which was tasteless and chicken tough. My daughters chicken Milanese was the worst she has eaten and my pizza I had one slice. When we asked for the bill there was no apology about the food. They charged us full price as they said there was nothing wrong with it, even though 3 meals went back hardly eaten. Will never return again.

We decided to try the restaurant as most Italians in the area were booked up. We were one of the only families in the restaurant however are food took nearly an hour to come. My mums pizza was piled with large amounts of cheese she only ate one piece. My dad had the peach chicken which was vile and overcooked in a dirty looking tasteless sauce. My sisters chicken was overcooked and tasted of rubber. We complained and they wouldn’t even offer a discount after my mum only eating a slice of the pizza. WILL NOT BE RETURNING!!

We visited tonight for the first time.Terrible experience. Very slow service - we were told a chef missing -Soggy garlic bread starter with far too much cheese.Main courses Salmon was good .Two chicken dishes - totally over cooked and the sauce with Peach sauce tasteless and unpleasant.Pizza - very uappitising with what looked like slimed onions spread over top. Most of chicken dishes and 90% of pizza not eaten.Nothing deducted from bill . No sign of manager .Totally poor service- food and unbelievable bill not reduced.Steer well clear of this place.

Awesome food, nice serving, nice atmosphere. 3 stars because it’s not baby friendly. No changing room for baby, no pram ramp. We’ll visit again when our baby grows 🤩

Had a meal here when we stayed in Halifax. It was superb. Well worth a visit. The owner was very friendly and service was great.

We had put our orders on weeks ago so when we arrived to find out they did not have the starters ordered was not Good! The food tasteless considering the owners are authentic Italians. I will never return.

What a great find, the food was excellent once it cooled down, piping hot and plenty of it, we were stuffed. Carlos is a good host and likes you to enjoy your food.

Fabulous, greeted by lovely waiter,prompt service lovely food very generous portions , value for money 4 people each 2 course 2 bottles of wine £84 ! Can’t wait to return thank you 😊

We only went into this restaurant because all the other italian restaurants had or were about to close for the night. We were the only people in there but we didn't think much of it because it was after 9pm on a Wednesday night. We had meat cannelloni, garlic bread with cheese and tomato and rosemary potatoes. The portions were quite generous but the food was not great. We're not sure what meat was in the cannelloni - if it was covered in sauce it tasted ok but if it wasn't it tasted like kebab meat! The garlic bread was nice though and really the only tasty thing we had. It was fairly cheap though so we don't feel too badly done to but we wouldn't go back.

We booked a table here after finding all other restaurants to be full at the time we wanted. We had theatre tickets for 8pm so we arrived at 6pm.

Our usual Italian, Julio's, was fully booked so we took a chance here instead. Our advice is DONT. We both had chicken pancake to start which was piping hot but to be honest it wasn't tasty and we could have been eating anything. The chicken was tough ,so we progressed to the mains, I had risotto which I love usually. This was more akin to separately cooked arborio rice

We went here with friends. The booking was for 7-0 We got in at 6-55 so they allowed us to have the early bird. My friends pate was served on a bread bun and not Melba toast. The portions are very large they would be better to do smaller portions and better quality food. The minestrone soup was good. The prawn cocktail I had was large and not much taste would have preferred less and better prawns. The spicy meat ball starter was nice. The mozzarella starter was nice. The bread served with the meal was very dry and tasted a little stale. Should have been served warm. The mains were spinach and ricotta cheese lasagne far too much spinach and hardly any cheese. Our friend said the pizza was nice. The chicken a la cream the sauce tasted like Campbell’s soup. The salmon was good the best bit of the meal, the mash was like smash instant the bro all I over cooked kept warm for too long. The chips were too many and tasteless not very Italian. The veg was not bad good choice. Carrots were nice. The portions were so large we were stuffed and no room for pudding. They need to focus on smaller portions and better quality food. Excluding salmon which was lovely. The service was very very slow. The chairs were very uncomfortable. Although most of the food was palatable it was not good. We would not eat there again. There are better Italian restaurants in Halifax. Ok for pizza and salmon mini stone so.up there the story ends Disappointed

We stumbled into this place as a result of not finding another one, and how lucky were we. The food was simply excellent, some of the best Italian we have had anywhere including in Italy - it is hard to do calamari really well, for example, and this place did. It is quaint and atmospheric, down to the Italian radio programs being played. The service was terrific, every dish we had excellent, and Carlo was a wonderful host. Real old school and really well worth the visit. Go - you will not be disappointed

We got lost in Halifax and missed the booking at our restaurant. We parked next to and decided to try Romeo and Juliet. It was fabulous.

I can only imagine that from the good reviews on here there must be a different chef from our visit.

First evening in Halifax had a look inside looked ok nobody there we took a card a booked for an evening meal

We came as a party of 10 as a family celebration. We normally go to Julio's in Halifax for family occasions but had heard about Romeo and Juliet's and thought we would try something new as the early bird is the same price. This is a decision I will definitely regret. As soon as we arrived the atmosphere was not comfortable. We were asked to take a seat in the waiting area to look at the menu, where we were sat for at least half an hour as the elderly woman behind the bar stared at us with the most miserable face I have ever seen. Three of the party then ordered Fosters at the bar which tasted like watered down cider and was served with the same miserable face. A waiter then came to take our orders and we were then guided through the strange saloon doors to our table. The starters took a long time to arrive and were average at best. Some of the party felt that their food was straight from a freezer (such as the fishcake and the calamari), however some of the party enjoyed the prawn cocktail which was large. We then had a long wait again until our starters were cleared. The mains were then delivered, however there were problems with many of these. One of the party ordered a vegetarian cannelloni but quickly realised there was chicken inside. This had to be taken back and they had to wait for their original order to be made. My risotto was just boiled rice in water with some undercooked mushrooms on top. I have never returned a meal in my life but other members of the party agreed that my dish was disgusting. The other meals were not as bad, however my partner and sister commented that they had eaten better pasta from Tescos and another party member had sliced sandwich ham in their calzone. The food was definitely not restaurant quality. I understand that this restaurant is cheap however there was no pride in the food or anything homemade or authentic about it whatsoever. I wouldn't be surprised if all the food we ate came from the Heron Foods up the road to be honest. The service was also very slow and was not welcoming. I had to ask for the risotto to be taken off our bill as I did not want to pay for something I could not eat which the restaurant agreed to. I know the restaurant isn't 'expensive' however I have been to many restaurants in the area that offer similar priced early bird menus that are amazing quality and this was not even mediocre. Will definitely not be returning.

We go regularly for lunch and the food is always great. The surroundings are warm and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for Petro, the waiter.

Great authentic Italian food and huge portions. Look out for the Italian owner who comes out for a chat and cooks everything himself

Decided to try here on my wife's birthday.For our starters my wife ordered fishcake. Hmmmm nice and fresh? No it was a frozen. I ordered meatballs. Had 1 mouth full and said to my wife. Just try this. It tasted disgusting it had either been stuck in the fridge for a week. Or it was off meat. We complained and left. Will never go again.

Had Christmas Day Lunch with family - I had Turkey - it was terrible - glupy gravy turkey slices in a roll as if they had come out of a packet veg was hard potatoes, a couple of carrots, cauliflower soggi and a cold yorkshire pud - what a great Xmas dinner (thats a joke) pudding was no better tasteless with a sauce that had been watered down - and the topping was the drinks so expensive - I must thank you for a horrible christmas day

Total Xmas Day disappointment - Completely shop bought throughout from starters to desserts.

We went here on Saturday, early evening, there was only one other table dining . The service was incredibly poor, everything, even taking the drinks order, took forever. After half an after, late, starters had arrived I was told the mains would be 2 minutes, it still hasn't arrived after 15 minutes, again told it would be 2 minutes, I explained we had to leave in 15 minutes. They finally arrived giving us all of 10 minutes to eat. We were in the restaurant for almost 2 hours. Did we get an apology, NO! Just excuses and arguing, and to top it all off we were over charged!!

I was impressed with this restaurant. It’s the first time we’ve been it i’ll definitely go back. Just up from Halifax train station so easy to get to.

Food was freshly cooked, HUGE PORTIONS and absolutely delicious. Our starter was bruschetta and next time we will get one between us. It was so tasty and a generous double portion of toasted bread. Probably the best I have ever had.

Managed to deliver 5 meals for 6 people and not notice till served. Then the 6th meal was wjat was ordered as run out of ingredients. Yet nether bothered to tell us

Just got back from an excellent lunch at this hidden gem of a traditional Italian restaurant. I had the seafood pasta.....the portion was huge, full of mussels, prawns & squid in a wonderful tasty sauce with just the right amount of heat.

Came here for lunch with my parents and wow what a find! It’s a very authentic Italian restaurant with fabulous food and friendly attentive service! The portions were huge and the food fresh and delicious! We paid £42, that was for 3 people having 2 courses and drinks which we thought was pretty reasonable!

We had lunch here and only a few tables were occupied. There was a special lunch menu, with plenty of choice, but when I ordered a pizza I was told that all pizzas were off (in an Italian restaurant!). Instead I went for a steak pie (at a £2 supplement). It was absolutely enormous and came with a large portion of chips. It had a good home-made taste, but I couldn't manage it all. Maybe they could shrink the portion size and remove the supplement? My dining companion's pasta dish was also very large.

Warm welcome relaxed atmosphere food just like Nona used to make the pizza's are amazing!! You won't go hungry 🇮🇪🇮🇪 And just one Italian restaurant 2018 for Halifax.

Friendly professional service, attentive to detail and very helpful. Extensive choice on the menu, which made me a little dubious, however we weren’t disappointed, all the starters and meals were great. Portions generous, quality of the food and presentation great. All fresh ingredients and freshly made bread, bonus. We would highly recommend this restaurant for a resonably priced meal with good service.

Lovely food in beautiful Victorian setting. Started with a complimentary bread roll served with a tangy tomato paste. Tip - if you’re having pate as a starter, try to save some of the paste - the two are absolutely lovely together. Had chicken a la creme for my main - again, it was lovely; the chicken was moist and the sauce was gorgeous.

I couldn't recommend this enough if your looking for a fantastic meal, great portions, and at good price. Had the seafood pasta, and couldn't fault it.

Visited here for the first time with family,busy and good atmosphere,starters were lovely,mains were excellent,sirloin steak was lovely with the mustard and mushroom sauce and tasty fresh veg,lasagne was good and a huge size,pizza's were a good size and tasty also,was disappointed in the wine,to get a decent glass of wine you have to buy a bottle as the glass of wine on offer was awful,waiters looked stressed out and seemed to be under a lot of pressure,will visit here again as the food was good but mayb as a couple next time.

Held a works do party for 10 people fernando and his team worked hard to make ours a memorable evening. Most opted for the 3 course menu with plenty of choice for each course. So I had the Brushcetta (large portion), then spaghetti Pescatore large portion) with the massive choice king prawns being delicious, finished off with large cliche of chocolate fudge cake with cream! All for under £15. The complimentary chips was a nice touch!

We visited this restraunt for a family meal I was very excited as it was mine and my family's first time going requested by one of my close friends who had told me how good the service and foods and presentation was we was seated to a table very quick and ordered our starts main course rump steak and sirloin steak/steak it was fabulous well pretended and defo well cooked as a looked around the restaurant I could see that it was a busy place we went early and as we was going out more people came in I can see that the restaurant was really elegant and the open kitchen we had a very good evening marvellous place......definitaly we will be back here soon regularly and we will inform our friends and family come visit aswell try this elegant place out .......

Birthday meal party of 12 we were greated and seated near the kitchen aromas of fresh food was hitting our taste buds while we roamed throu the menu we nibbled on the fresh baked cheffs secret ingredient bread rolls we orderd starters they arrived all well presented we all wer saved togher while we waited for our main meal we chatterd spent quilty time on catch up our mains arrived without any delay we was supprised as each dish was diffrent generous portions werr served nicely flavoured repsented we will defnatly come back with further dinner dates

My wife and I visited this restaurant to see whether it was suitable to take friends. We visited on a Saturday lunchtime. The restaurant was quiet, though there were other customers.

Called in tonight 23/1/18 for food to celebrate my birthday with my partner and son. What can I say, food was fantastic, service was great too. 2nd time here and can't wait for the next visit

This was the first time we had eaten here and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of our meal, for 17 diners, booked the previous day within the Christmas period, a potentially difficult time for ordering stock etc. We assembled in the bar area, where the order was taken. We were then shepherded politely into the main dining room. Most of the diners had chosen off the two course menu, with an odd steak added to the order. The waiters were courteous and delivered each course efficiently. I must add, the staff showed tremendous patience with a young child in our party, who wanted to visit and see the chef making a pizza. They not only accommodated that but even let him make his own ! Bravo!

A great birthday meal for our party of 12, ranging in age from 11 years to over 80s. Lots of choice on the very reasonably priced 2 course deal, portions were large and food was hot and delicious. Spaghetti pescatora was a particular favourite. No problem providing a doggy bag to take home pizza which was simply too much for one teenager. Waiters friendly and efficient. We will return!

We visited this restaurant in the week leading up to Christmas. We don't live in the area but we're taking a granddaughter to dance in a pantomime. The food and service was excellent and very good value for money. When looking for places I had seen some adverse reviews on service but we found the complete opposite. If every in Halifax again would definitely return.

16 of us booked family & friends. Which included 6 children. We booked for 5.00pm. So we were offered the early bird menu. The complimentary bread was hard as rock, my starter was pate. This was not homemade, very cold with burnt bread that again was a bread roll with a bit of lettuce in the side. My main was goats cheese pizza, it was a margarita with crumbled brie on top. Other meals in the party were steak pie which was very dry and smelt awful!, overall very disappointing when advertised as fresh,homemade italian food. Clearly short cuts were being made & substitutes. I wish I had taken photos, nothing like the reviews I've read on trip advisor prior to us visiting. Staff were made aware but offered no explanation. It was clear to see the place was overbooked.There were 2 waiters with no personality, clearly very busy. We felt as though, we needed to go as our table was needed. No offer of any money off either. Not the kind of Italian Restaurant I've ever been to. The children wanted ice cream, to be honest this was the best bit for them. We definetley won't be going back!

Amazing tasty Italian food. The owners make you feel welcome and everything is cooked fresh to order. Pizzas are fab and the portion sizes are very generous. Go visit, you wont be disappointed.

Having spent a lovely autumnal Saturday afternoon exploring the shops, market and The Piece Hall decided on Romeo and Juliet's Early bird menu as love prawn cocktail and lasagne and at £11.95 for two courses, it offers excellent value. It was nice to see a mixture of families dining and couples, I didnt feel at all uncomfortable dining alone. The waiter was so welcoming and courteous, was really impressed with how he looked after all the diners without being overwhelming, he flowed around like good waiters should!Nice to be brought a bread roll and butter with the starter and some tasty spicy tomato dip, don't really know what it was but it was tasty! The prawn cocktail came on a plate but was well presented, my only gripe would have loved some more Marie Rose sauce, there was only a drizzle. Lasagne was cooked perfectly, had trouble finishing it as such a generous portion! Unfortunately that meant couldn't fit in a sweet but the other diners seemed to be enjoying theirs! I enjoyed a large glass of house red along with the meal. As I was tired from walking around all day and full from my meal I asked the waiter to ring me a taxi to my hotel, which he did and it arrived swiftly. I would eat here again as the food and service was so good.

First time we've visited this place! It's a hidden gem in Halifax town centre! Fresh, homemade food, delicious dishes and big portions, we had 2 courses, but couldn't finish it. My personal favourite was the chicken stroganoff with the chef's secret ingredient added to it, to make it even tastier! Definitely will be returning! Highly recommended! Friendly owners too!

Visited this restaurant as a couple numerous occasions & we're never disappointed. The Mozzarella En Carozza for starter is delicious & the Spaghetti Bolognaise is fab. Definitely need to give this family run Italian restaurant a try. You won't be disappointed.

Myself and my wife decided last minute to go out. Saw this place on internet and gave it a go. Absolutely brilliant , got there early and thought we would give the early bird menu a try. Loads to of choice to go at and what we had was lovely. Looking forward to going back and trying some dishes of the main menu. Value for money and great service

We hadn't heard of Romeo & Juliet before but our friends are regulars so we tagged along with them last night. Everything from start to finish was very good and the service was spot on.We all chose differently from garlic mushrooms to whitebait to lasagna and pizza to 'Chef's surprise.' Nobody was disappointed, the food was tasty and well flavoured.Definitely one to return to.

Great service, food came quite quickly. I ordered a calzone, it tasted lovely and it was very large, came with a side of sauce also. It seemed like a couples restaurant, there was also lovely decorations and a waiting room bar. However, I went with my mum as a reward for doing well on my exam. Varied choices as well. It had a nice, quiet atmosphere. Definitely recommended.

Good service and the food came promptly. Salmon mains was tasty. Starters also good. We cannot finish the mussels starters so make sure you are hungry. Car parking on the road ok for Sunday. Free.

What a great time we had. Food was delicious, restaurant very clean, food on time, Carlo & staff very nice. When Brian had his ice-cream all the staff came out & sang Happy Birthday. Had a lovely evening, price for twelve of us very reasonable. Will certainly be going back.

I've been wanting to try this restaurant for ages as I love Italian food but unfortunately I was quite disappointed.For starter we had bruschetta and what they said was home made pate. The pate did not taste homemade but instead tasted very much like a low quality one you would buy from the supermarket. The bruschetta was alright but I've had better.Mains we had tortellini, mine was really nice but as it was so creamy was extremely rich and so couldn't eat much of it.Price wise it's extremely cheap so cant complain too much. We went on a Monday and starters were only 3 pound.Service was alright nothing to shout about, could have been a bit friendly.Wouldn't return.

This place is great, what a gem! Staff is very nice, chef came out to say hello. Most important of all: the pasta we had was excellent. It was fresh, tasty. Perfect. A memorable meal and not expensive either; around £20 for two, including drinks.We weren't sure standing outside because it just looks like an old pub. Once inside, it's a different world. Can't believe Ive never visited before. Will definitely be going back.

The food was tasty, but very heavy I had creamy garlic mushrooms... nice and hot, the complimentary bread and red pepper tapenade was delightful! I had pasta afterwards which was extremely flavourful with spicy sausage and chicken... again smothered in a cream sauce. The people who run it were very nice to us and wanted us to know everything was fresh on the menu.The atmosphere was a bit lacking for a Friday night and they were ready to shut up shop at 22:00! If I do go again I will choose differently... I was going to go for the grilled meat .... that looked lovely.I hope people do visit this place it's good for Halifax and it regeneration. Well done guys.

Came with family for a birthday meal and we was very disappointed. The service was very good and we can not complain about that and the bread and starters were fine but the mains were awful. We ordered three steaks and all of them were not cooked to order - we all asked for rare and not one of them were pink. The steaks were so chewy that we couldn't eat them. We sent one back and it came back out exactly the same. It was the worse steak The lasagne was very dry and had no meat within the pasta sheets. The pork steak was dry and plain and the chips that came with the meals were hard.When the bill came we was charged full for the steaks even though we couldn't eat them and the manager was fully aware. I have never been to a restaurant where the staff are not apologetic and a discount was not offered for sent back food.Very disappointing and spoilt the birthday celebrations. Unfortunately we won't be returning.

This is an excellent restaurant, the staff couldn't be more friendly and welcoming. The food was very tasty, the service great and the menu extensive. This restaurant is well worth a visit and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. My wife had a meal here with our daughter who's working in Halifax, from what she said, I just wish that we lived nearer to this restaurant, as it's miles better than the Italian restaurants where we live.

Called here for an evening meal for two. We had the garlic prawns and a pizza to share. Both were spot on with a very good bottle of white. The prices are very good value. All in all very good. If you have a wheelchair you may need to ring as they open access at the rear of the building.

Booked a table for a family reunion and Carlo did not hold back in the welcoming service and the delicious finger licking menu selection. Full marks from me and the family. Food was cooked to perfection and I even got to say hello to my favourite chef Aldo !Once again thank you for your hospitality to all at Romeo Juliet.

We ate here regularly but since xmas hadn't been as often as it wasn't as good -it seemed something was missing. We went on Saturday and realised what had been missing - it was Aldo the chef and now he's back. We enjoyed our evening it was like it use to be. Good move Carlo!!

We dinner in this restaurant on Friday night with my family, the restaurant was busy, nice food, the chef Aldo come to our table to make sure the steak was cooked to perfection, the service and atmosphere was fantastic, we come back again.

Brilliant service, nice atmosphere, food it's great, Aldo the chef cooked our t bone steak at perfection, Mario the new waiter looked after our table all night, thank you, will come back.

Booked for a birthday meal- just the 2 of us. It was Mon eve , fairly late, but restaurant was empty. After great service, the best lasagne ever, and lovely, large portions we were at a loss to understand why it wasn't busier. Never been before but have recommended it to lots of people and we will definately be back. Thankyou

It was my wife's birthday in Januart 2017.I had eighteen Guests. We held the Luncheon on a Friday. The waiter Petra, was Fantastic. his personel atttendance was a vice touch to the meal.The choice of food ranged from Prawn Cocktails(,reguested on plates) lovely, Fishcakes for starters. The Mains Ranged from Stake pie, to Veal Tee bone stakes, som had Lasange,some Pizza. The food was wonderful, the chef cooked the stake to taste, nothing was too much to ask for. the desserts were realy mouth watering. The Teramaso was realy a very good choice. My friend had a great lunch experience. we now go every Friday for the pentioners, special. This is Great

I go to the restaurant often, as in time the food has changed they used to be authentic italian food... which was why i love the restaurant but as time passed food was getting a bit disappointing i dont know if their changing chefs or using cheaper ingredients, calamari rings changed to calamari figures, (urgh) the food standard needs to improve for me to return!

After having some very good reports from friends about this restaurant, I visited it, along with my wife,at lunchtime on Friday 13th January. We both ordered two courses, a starter and a main.The starters were quite nice as was my main course of salmon. My wife ordered a chicken kiev for her main and, because it was very hot, she cut it open to allow it to cool down. She was shocked to see that part of the chicken was raw. When we showed it to the waiter he asked if my wife wanted something different. She the decided to change to salmon as mine had been cooked ok. The salmon eventually arrived after I had finished eating. My wife started eating the salmon and to her amazement the salmon was raw inside. This was a very disappointing experience and we will not be visiting this restaurant again.
