Il Mulino in Calderdale

We had such a great experience we went back for another meal a few days later. The welcome was very warm, staff were really efficient and clearly wanted us to have a great time. The food was absolutely lovely and a great atmosphere. Could not fault this place.

I was unsure about Il Mulino at first as it was closed at the beginning of the week and the mill house itself seemed deserted. BUT it sprang to life on Wednesday! I'm so glad we gave it a try as the food was delicious and the staff were great. So just check opening hours! It really is a hidden gem.

Blink and you miss this place. We were recommended it by our Airbnb host. Popped in early on a Saturday evening and got a table easily. We both ordered a starter and main. Whitebait for the partner and king prawns in lemon and garlic for me. Followed by a chicken dish for him and spaghetti bolognese for me. Neither of us can fault the staters and my partner loved his chicken. The bolognese was light on meat content and very creamy. Don’t get me wrong it was lovely but not quite what I expected a traditional bolognese to be. The bill came to £52 excluding drinks as teetotallers we just had water. I felt it was a little pricey and think the meal deals through the week sound better value. However it’s a local independent with friendly efficient staff so I’d happily recommend. It was also filling up quickly with groups and couples as we left so clearly has a loyal clientele maybe I just made a poor menu choice.

Lovely building, lovely food and great, friendly, helpful staff. Not sure what else people can ask or want from a restaurant to be honest. They have a small selection of vegan and GF options. The restaurant is on the first floor of a Victorian building but, they do have a chair lift so please make them aware before you arrive if you need this. The toilets are on a level with the main eating area but, there is an eating area that has a couple of steps to it so again, please let them know if any of your party can't manage steps. This is not a dog friendly place to eat. Other than that a lovely local gem that to my mind doesn't always get the recognition it deserves. At the moment and for the foreseeable future this is the only Italian restaurant in Hebden.

We waited 45 mins for our starters (we couldn't have the bread to tide us over) but the bruschetta (bread and tomatoes) was poor - stale bread, tasteless tomatoes, barely dressed salad. My partner had prawns with an undressed salad because of her soya allergy - which we suggested could be overcome with olive oil, balsamic. Lovely, apologetic staff but the food was really disappointingly like a Harvester.

Really great place. A lot of people recommended it to me which is always a good sign. Great menu and choice of drinks. Very friendly and attentive staff. I opted for one of the specials a sword dish spaghetti but I was a bit disappointed with the flavour and lack of fish if I am honest. Think it might just have been a bad choice as everyone else enjoyed their food. Good size portions. I would recommend the bruscetta it was delicious. We got limoncello on the house and a dessert for the birthday girl. Next time I will just have a traditional dish.

The restaurant is not noticeable however the food is great. Service is excellent as well. Would like to come back again.❤️

Really good food and a beautiful place

Went here on February 14th, but it was for birthday. Absolutely great service and good. Loved the limoncello mojitos! Happen to mention that is was for a birthday. Staff came out with our dessert with a candle and staff sang!

Great little Italian restaurant.

I have been eating here since it first opened many years ago. I haven't been for a while as money is getting tighter. However, tonight I decided to take myself out. I was met with a warm and friendly welcome by one of the staff and quickly shown to a table. I was given a menu and the special board was pointed out to me. I started with a garlic pizza bread with tomatoes and it was lovely, tasty topping and a crunchy base. Then I had swordfish steak with capers, olives etc. Once again it was very tasty and well cooked. I had too much food and so I asked to have the leftover fish boxed so that I could take it home for my dog. This was done without any issue, unlike some places that I have eaten in. The special board included both a vegan started and a vegan main course which I'm sure some people would be happy to see. The main menu has lots of veggie options as well. They also offer all of their pasta meals with gluten free pasta. This restaurant is on the first floor of the building. However, if you or anybody in your group cannot manage stairs they have a chair lift just to the right of the main entrance.

Lovely food, good company, great service - what more do you need.

Always wonderful I love it here, would highly recommend, but wish they would make the bathroom look cleaner and more presentable, it's run down and scruffy to the point that it looks dirty, it let's this fantastic place down.

We had a really good meal here. The Arabic I was really good definitely worth trying. The pasta is really good as well. Staff very friendly! Wish I could bring my dog here as well though as if we visit Hebden Bridge likely to have him with us.

We visited for the first time while staying in hebden for our golden wedding. What a great restaurant full of character, the staff were very helpful , and the food was excellent. Will definitely return the next time we are in hebden.

Honestly love this place. Wish we could come more than we do

It’s rare to get that combination of genuinely caring and attentive staff with great tasting food at superb value. We had it all and returned for a second night on recent visit to Hebdon Bridge. Portions are big, mot that size is key but great taste. The front of house and servers were all excellent. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Enjoyed our mid week visit for our son's birthday. Lovely food and great service. Will definitely be back.

We had dinner at Il Mulino and were greeted warmly by the staff and shown to a table in the corner. The restaurant is attractive, spacious , bright and comfortable. We chose the house white wine which was very good and had meatballs as starters which were delicious. The owner served the food and was charming and extremely efficient. We had pollo con funghi with pasta rather than the chips which were on the menu. Everything was beautifully prepared, piping hot and delicious. The deserts looked wonderful but we were too full to order one sadly. The cost of the meal was extremely reasonable. This is a great restaurant and we look forward to returning.

Absolutely fantastic once again! Myself and my partner visited in July for our anniversary and decided to return to celebrate our engagement because we enjoyed it so much. Wonderful,professional but friendly staff and the food is to die for. I can't stop raving about it to our friends and family. It's such a beautiful setting, truly a one off type of place. We've decided to make it a monthly visit from now on and I can't wait to go back!

Lovely building & setting, food was great, bit pricey. It was a busy Tuesday evening, waited in the bar area with drinks, was told 15-20mins for a table but frustratingly it turned out to be 45-50mins.

The first experience me and my partner had here was amazing we came for our anniversary in July and enjoyed everything from the food to the atmosphere 🙌 this time round we came to celebrate our engagement, same again the food was sublime, the atmosphere was on point, the service from all the members of staff was great and the wine was amazing, if we could eat here every day im sure we would, will definitely be returning again soon to enjoy another lovely meal here!

Nice atmosphere & friendly staff but a Disaster Chef with a heavy hand on the salt cellar spoilt what might have been a reasonable sauce and not enough rice to hoover it up.. cheap for a reason

Chose Il Mulino when looking for a last minute dinner options for a group including a vegan. There were a number of vegan friendly options outside of the usual stuff you'd expect, and the whole group seemed pleased with the dishes they'd received, although the menu overall seemed quite limited, with nothing that particularly stood out from the usual mains you'd expect at an Italian restaurant. The calzones were particularly generous in size, with those who ordered them finding they had to get through several mouthfuls of dough before getting to the filling. Overall, dining at Il Mulino was great for our group at that time, but when we return to Hebden Bridge, we're hoping to try some more adventurous options instead.

Fabulous Italian Cuisine, friendly and helpful staff and sensible menu pricing, definitely a place to recommend and we will visit again next time we are in Hebden Bridge.

The food and service were perfect! Spaghetti carbonara was creamy the fillet steak and de pepe sauce were amazing and cooked exactly how we asked for! I couldn’t fault anything about Il Mulino and couldn't recommend it enough! We will 100% be returning! Thank you for an amazing meal

We went for the Early Bird weekday menu and enjoyed 2 courses for £19.95. There were 5 adults and a toddler and we all left clean plates, every dish was excellent from the child's pasta to the calzone, the carbonara and the chicken with mushrooms. Generous servings and great service.

Roberto is Italian, friendly and happy to chat in either language. The larger room is a bit noisy, would recommend the smaller room.

Great atmosphere great food. Lovely little place. 5 of us had food here, when it came to paying it was a bit disappointing to be given the bill and calculator and told to work out how much we owed ourselves, last thing we needed on a Saturday night.

Initially, we struggled to find the restaurant as it is well-hidden away and, when we started going up the stairs, expected to find somewhere fairly small. Il Mulino is anything but. Quite often, large restaurants, particularly on a busy Friday evening, struggle to provide a consistent quality of food , but our three course meal was excellent. Our son wanted soup as a starter and wasn't keen on either of those on offer. But, despite being so busy, he was offered and served his own bespoke one! All three courses were excellent, as was the inexpensive house red. There really was nothing to fault. It is just a shame that we live so far away.

We went for a meal and got the 2 course early bird. The staff and service are fine as is the restaurant setting in an old mill, quite attractive. Our main criticism was how very average and bland the food was. Poor lasagne and strange arancini, tasteless lobster ravioli. We went because of the good reviews but found it very disappointing.

Delicious, fresh and homemade food (some of the best pasta I've ever eaten). Great, attentive service. Beautiful building. Very nice espresso martini! We were really pleased with our meal which we had when visiting Hebden Bridge to celebrate a big occasion. We couldn't have picked somewhere better! We were staying very close by so walked into town but the restaurant is situated near some parking places for those driving in.

This place is fairly well hidden up a staircase at the end of Bridge Street but really worth finding. It has a cozy, bistro feel to it and a comprehensive Mediterranean-themed menu. We arrived (having pre-booked) at 5pm and we were the first through the door but within 30 minutes it was busy and we could see why. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and immediately made us feel at home. We started with the meatballs (huge) and breaded mozzarella and followed these with a prawn linguine and the peppercorn chicken. Delicious and generous serving sizes. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and we will definitely be back.

What a fantastic place. Went early (5pm) which is when they open. Warmly greeted on arrival and given the option of being seated immediately or a drink at the bar first. Our order was taken by a lovely waitress and our food was delivered piping hot. The food was absolutely superb. Full of flavour and beautifully presented. We had starters and a main course. We never felt rushed, nor were we waiting long between courses There is a great menu with something for everyone. Il Mulino pay attention to the details. Fresh bread is provided as is water to the tables. The atmosphere is friendly yet professional and all three front of house staff we spoke to were evidently passionate about their restaurant. When you go make sure you look closely at the building. The wall lights utilise the old pulley brackets. The decor is in harmony with the mill building.

Today I went out with friends, to II Mulino in Hebden Bridge for a meal. when we got there, staff showed us to a table that we had booked, the day before. The staff, gave us each a menu & we then ordered our meal along with a drink. This is the first time, I've been here & I'm very pleased with the service that we were given here. II Mulino, is located in St George's Street in Hebden Bridge & is well worth a visit, if you are looking for a bite to eat, while you are visiting Hebden Bridge. One of my favourite restaurants to visit, the food is always great and the staff even better. Both Josh and his team do a great job in looking after you.

I’ve got to say this was a very nice experience. You need to book and get in early . We had a nice chilled time here. Sat next to the window where you can see the river. I had a HUGE calzone . We all share half and half garlic bread. Staff knew how to please . I would of tried dessert but there was no room. Thank you for a lovely meal guys.

Probably within the top 5 restaurants I’ve ever visited. Our son says it’s number 1 on his list, he scored it 10/10. Where to start! Josh and all the staff there are incredibly welcoming and are extremely helpful. The food was out of this world, delicious home made bread, meatballs in a sauce to die for, pizzas of the best quality and a little birthday surprise for the little man. Absolutely loved it. If you’re ever in Hebden Bridge this is an absolute must to try. Thank you Il Mulino, it was well worth the drive from Manchester ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Third visit this evening, gorgeous food, friendly staff would highly recommend, great choice and attentive service.

We wandered in by chance having liked the look of the menu choices outside. A good decision! We arrived at 6pm and were politely advised that there was a spare table overlooking the main square, but it was booked from 8pm. The food choice was good and the choices we made were delicious. The house red (Merlot) was £16. Very good value. The restaurant was amazing and we will be back soon Thanks to all the staff for making our evening in Hebden Bridge so enjoyable.

A small entrance door, but when you get upstairs it is quite spacious. A warm friendly greeting and absolutely great food. A very authentic Italian menu to choose from. Would definitely recommend and will certainly be back when we’re next in the area.

Amazing food and service was spot on. Reasonably priced too, was expecting to pay a lot more as food was so tasty. Would 100% return if ever back in Hebden Bridge.

My partner and I have just enjoyed an amazing dinner here. We were a last minute booking but they managed to fit us in. The service was great, all the staff were friendly but professional. The setting was lovely but most importantly the food was delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely come again when we are in the area.

The food, the service and the atmosphere were all spot on. My daughter had chicken tagliatelle, the portion was generous and it was very tasty. I had a vegetarian calzone, again it was a good size and delicious. The food was excellent value for money and l will visit again next time I'm in Hebden Bridge.

Very average food. My calzone was tough - massively overcooked. Some of the other pizzas in our group came out ok, but all of the calzone orders were disappointing. The staff were good and it is a nice place, but we won't be returning

Best pasta we have ever had at a restaurant, however the calzone was a little bland but still nice. Not a choice of ales other than a few bottles which is disappointing for the area. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The place itself was beautiful. Would definitely visit again

Booked a table earlier on in the day for 8.30pm after we’ve finished our day. Place was buzzing, really lively but in a way that doesn’t disturb your own evening. Greeted my smiley and friendly staff, seated immediately even though we were early. We had both been eating during the day so wasn’t too hungry. We split a starter and a pizza and had a nice surprise that everything came out pre split so no messing around! Mozzarella starter was superb and Funghi pizza delicious. Took some home and had it this morning, still as delicious! Full of herbs. Helpful staff making sure we were happy and drinks flowing. Always 10/10

Quirky little restaurant almost hidden away in the centre of Hebden Bridge. All the staff were super friendly and we never felt rushed. We shared a mix of starters - the olives were really good. I had the fishy linguine main course which was delicious with loads of king prawns & squid. Slightly disappointed I was too full for a pudding, but others had the tiramisu which they said was beautiful & light! Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Me and my family have been to il Mulinos loads of times now and the food never misses! The prices are very affordable considering the quality of the food.

A fantastic setting in the heart of Hebden. It has a warm, welcoming appeal and the locations and building are spot on. This time we had the spaghetti Bolognese and pizza Napoli; both meals arrived quickly and were excellent. The portions are of a good size which means (sadly!) there is rarely room for pudding, the desert menu always looks tempting though!

Stumbled into this place looking to use the facilities and grab a coffee. Decided to eat. What a wonderful menu... plenty for vegetarian and meat eaters... very large portions so take care when ordering! Although you can take a box home. Food is lovely. Attentive service. Absolutely worth a visit

Excellent service and excellent food

Sorry friendly staff. I live in Hebden and this is my go-to restaurant when I want a cosy evening with friends. Not going to be winning any style awards, but it's warm and welcoming. The staff are always lovely. The food is traditional Italian-restaurant fare which has always been lovely in my experience.

The restaurant was a bit chilly luckily I had a warm scarf with me. However, it was a particularly cold night outside so I guess the restaurant didn't get chance to warm up. It didn't spoil my evening as the food was lovely. I had the sea bass fabulous.

After a slight mix up with the booking us/them? We were made very welcome whilst the manager quickly resolved the matter for us. This didn’t spoil our visit at all in fact they served an excellent varied selection from the menu and the service was friendly and attentive despite having a very busy evening.
