Pollino in Calderdale

Nice enough food. Friendly staff but waiters not particularly trained/experienced (nobody seemed capable of carrying more than 2 plates of food, and each time the table was cleared the staff just stacked the plates vertically on the table then carried them off). Obviously not the end of the world but it's not hard and at the prices charged it's fair to expect basic waiting skills. The tuna was nicely cooked but quite a small steak sliced up and spread across the plate to look bigger. Also, avoid sitting in a high traffic area - the flexing laminate floor made every passing member of staff feel like a bus going past. Strange decor choices in places do not create a premium feel to match the price - are those shower panels on the ceiling and some of the walls?!

Food was good. Cocktails amazing and service was great. Brooke was behind the bar and listened to specific adjustments to cocktails so they were perfect for each of us. Definitely recommend the cocktails (and obviously the food!)

Attended here last week a large group of friends. Had a drink upstairs first, lovely bar with fantastic views. Then downstairs for a meal. Great service and lovely food.

Absolutely fantastic experience at Pollinos for our wedding party. From our first meeting with Brooke to discuss what they could do, to the actual party yesterday nothing could have gone easier or better. The food was amazing and all the staff were lovely.

the best italian!!! the food was absolutely stunning, i had the best lobster ravioli ive ever had, it was gorgeous. value for food was perfect! the staff are so so friendly, really welcoming and it’s just a great atmosphere. we will definitely be coming again and will be recommending to everyone we know. thank you for a lovely evening!!!

Born on Burnley Road Dad still lives here so always come to Pollino when I/we visit they have done wonders with the venue the food and drink is fabulous magnificent range. Always given five stars in the past but four on this occasion as everything above was as before but as this time there was only two of us we got overlooked in terms of service so passed on any additions to the main course.

Amazing food,pre ordered lobster was fantastic, staff were so friendly and attentive, food was 10/10,, wasnt keen on the prosseco so said to waiter can we have a diffrent bottle next, to which he swapped the bottle instantly and didnt charge for it, wasnt expecting that and was very greatful fantastic customer service, cant wait to go again,, me and my partner have been a few times befor and took family with us this time, they cant wait to go again aswell, always nervous reccomending somewhere to people incase they dont enjoy but there experience was as amazing as ours,,, highly reccomend if your looking for italian food,, this is defo our favourite Thank you guys x

This was my partner and I’s first time coming here and we were made so welcome! One of the servers (I didn’t catch his name) recommended the special pistachio sea bass which was to die for! Thank you for making us so comfortable and we will definitely come back!

This is a fantastic restaurant, the food is exceptional and at a decent price. The portion sizes are great and the drink selections are brilliant. The menu is great with a good variation and the service is really great. Because of this the restaurant is always busy and booking is essential especially on a weekend. This is the the 3rd and best visit to this restaurant and there will be a 4th in the future.

We have been to this restaurant twice before and had a really good experience. This time it was really special due to the quality of the service and more importantly the food. On arrival the restaurant was very busy however we had booked a table (recommended) and were shown straight to it. Despite this we ordered with the assistance of our server (Bitila) and the first course came at the right time to allow a decent conversation and atmosphere to build. The second course arrived in equally timely fashion as did the extra's. The quality of the food served was first class and tasted beautiful. I always tend to stick to my favour which is carbonara and they readily agreed to swap the spaghetti for tagliatelle . The potion size was just right and was very well presented as was all of the food. The server (Bitila) was very attentive and check during the meal without being a pest. There was ample drink choices the same as the menu and a specials selection. The price was not excessive and give what we had it was really good value for money. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Thank you and we will return.

Absolutely love it here, the staff are very friendly and treated my grandma like royalty throughout the meal. The food is some of the best Italian I've ever had, even from Italy! If you haven't yet tried it, you really should!

We were made to feel very welcome upon early arrival. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Food was very good We enjoyed a warm friendly atmosphere even though it was very busy. Atmosphere was excellent, it allowed us to enjoy each other’s company all the more.

We had a large booking of 20 at this, initially unknown to us, amazing venue on the 11th Nov, for a 70th birthday celebration. My wife actually made the group booking, and she has an extensive background in hospitality management, so she knows her stuff... She initially tried booking other establishments before Pollino's, but wasn't happy with the cut of their jib. We were all so glad she stumbled upon this absolute gem of an Italian restaurant, it was just fantastic, from initial booking, to the very last spoon of dessert. Myself & my wife had our 7 year old daughter with us, and the waiter that looked after our clan (I think his name was Chip?) was truly brilliant, not only with our full group, but especially with our daughter. He really went above & beyond, in looking after the whole party. We honestly cannot sing his praises highly enough... When dining out, the service is a HUGE part of the experience, and he really did ensure our experience was enjoyable & stress free. The food was absolutely on point. Not a single person in our group had any complaint, which when catering a group of 20, is not easy & pretty exceptional. Lots of credit to the chef's. So finally, I message the management/owners direct,,, Your venue is lovely, but your staff (Chip especially), are absolutely amazing. They make the dining experience the best it can be. Please please, recognise & reward their professionalism, with a cash reward, they really deserve it. We shall definitely be returning, now that we know of Pollino's. Many thanks to the whole team, for a lovely evening.

The place was packed, but the staff are obviously used to dealing with a fully booked restaurant, as the service was spot on. The food was really well cooked, well presented and reasonbly priced too. Can't fault it!

Meal was nice but some of the portions were tiny. Pizza good size and pasta dishes. Hardly any veg and no potatoes with the fish, turkey dinner needed more veg and orators too. We were sat in the entrance area which was cold. Wouldn’t rush...

Must have been stuck in traffic next to this for long enough for Google to think I'd been in for a bite to eat! It was actually over a year ago we visited here, as a group, we were really well looked after and everyone's order was spot on with no issues (there were 18ish of us so that is not always a given). Really nice atmosphere, staff friendly and helpful, available without hovering. I had a Calzone, was cooked perfectly, the filling was nice but found it a little on the bland side overall. Was reasonably well priced if you compare prices to current takeaway restaurant prices where the quality is far inferior. Keep looking for an opportunity to go back.

A bit on the pricey side but delicious food. 😋 Our table wasn't ready when we got there but that was quickly remedied. Would recommend if you fancy something just a bit above pub food.

Really beautiful food and excellent service, but the front conservatory room was absolutely freezing. With the external door being continually opened, you had no chance of warming up and the ceiling height heaters are never going to win.. We are only in October so goodness knows what it will be like in the peak of winter. I would refuse to sit in that area in future. Such a shame as the food and service was excellent. I’d recommend the rack of ribs with mash - delicious!

I have food intolerance with gluten and lactose. The waiter was excellent, served me off the menu but made sure there was nothing on the plate with gluten and lactose. Restaurants usually give a limited choice and its not good. The seabass was excellent. Nothing but praise. Oh and everyone else enjoyed their food.

This was a last minute booking they managed to squeeze us in for 8 pm. We arrived early. They showed us up to the rooftop bar which was very smart pleasant with great views . The staff were very accommodating and they came and got us when the table was ready. Food and drink arrived in good time. The food was very tasty. My pizza was the best pizza I’ve eaten in a very long time. Would highly recommend this place for a pleasant evening. Busy with a good atmosphere 👍

WOW! What a restaurant! I have been meaning to leave a review for a while now as we have been here lots of times, and every time it's the perfect experience! The venue is in a stunning location with beautiful views, and the restaurant itself is beautifully set - very spacious, great design and welcoming. The food is out of this world (I highly recommend the calves liver), and I still have so many more things I want to try on the menu! As well as a fantastic main menu, they also have wonderful specials which are really creative. If that wasn't enough, the very best thing about this restaurant is the staff. They couldn't be more welcoming, friendly or knowledgeable about their food, and they really treat visitors wonderfully. They are especially great with my children which is lovely. I really can't rate this restaurant highly enough, it's my absolute favourite! Thank you to the wonderful staff and chefs, we will be back soon!

Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. Didn’t have the steak we wanted so were advised on something similar. Very disappointed with the more expensive steak that we received! The chicken liver pâté was delicious but the garlic mushrooms were not as tasty as many other restaurants (or even what I cook at home) Overrated food wise but nice staff and a beautiful view.

Recommend this place by a friend and great choice to. We booked a table and asked for a seat near the window as they have some great views. We asked if we could have a drink at the rooftop bar which was nice, staff were very accommodating. When we were ready we went down to our table. Food was really nice and the portion sizes very generous. All staff were friendly, we were one of the last to leave but we never felt rushed. Will definitely return.

Service was good apart from the main meal took 45 mins to come out maybe this is average as it was buzzy but seemed along time, the starter was mediocre and the bread was burnt, the main was a carbonara but the added chicken was over cooked and rubbery, the desert caramel was also burnt, for 4 drinks 2 starters and 2 main the bill came to almost £100 little disappointing that the food was very low quality but the prices remained high, I don't think we would return after this evening there are better places to eat closer to us, the alma is fantastic food for half the price of hear the food at the alma wipes the floor with pollina, you will not be disappointed sometimes stick to what you no I guess
