Ricci's Place in Calderdale

Absolutely superb! Beautifully cooked food, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere. Say no more…would give it 10 stars if I could!

This is an odd one, I've had a lot of people recommend Ricci's for being good food and a good atmosphere. I found the atmosphere lacking and the food was bland. The open kitchen brings a great vibe to the place, the drinks were nice and the staff friendly. Though when the food came... We had the 2 simplest things on the menu and they were both very lacking. The antipasti was confusing, cheese and no bread, a pile of "things" with no thought or structure. Then sadly my pasta was bland and just drenched in oil, the fresh tomatoes were bland, then a handful of capers and olives thrown on top, I'm pretty sure they forgot to add the garlic also. Though the burratta on top was nice. I feel like the chef could use a heavier hand when seasoning. Maybe offer cheese with the pasta and had the waitress (though lovely) had asked if we had liked the food, we would have told her no. I believe maybe a second try is needed as we arrived at 5pm though it's still no excuse for bland food.

Came here by chance for a dinner weekday. It was everything that's good about Italy - lovely Italian food, nice drinks selection, open plan kitchen & dining space. Lovely atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. Had a vegan option pasta, It felt like I was in Italy 😍 I'll probably be coming back as a regular.

Beyond excellent food and service. Elevated attention to details. Superb ingredients. They simply can’t (hardly) do anything wrong. So effortless pleasing and incredible value. Only niggle. Toilet door looks like it needs some cream cleaner and a scrub as discoloured and looks like multiple hand stains and the basket a the back needs a hoover as a bit of dust.

We cannot fault this place. The quality of food is exceptional and the service is great. Thank you, we will be back again very soon.

Only problem was we looked at the menu on there website and the prices have not being updated, so for eg we looked at fillet steak website £24, restaurant £30, large wine pinot , £6.75 ,restaurant £8.75, big difference if your looking at the online price and have a budget, and get there and order, your in for a shock, so update prices, otherwise everything was ok

Tasteless food, my requests were completely ignored and my pasta sent back to the kitchen instead of being thrown away was put back in the pan.

Great cafe/restaurant. Had breakfast there. Food was delicious and very fresh. Great to see beans in their own dish! Very busy with a good atmosphere. Staff very pleasant.

We eat here all the time and every single time we love it! The food is always a little different but delicious 😋 great portions and very reasonably priced. Great service and the staff are always very friendly. Lovely setting. Would highly recommend. Never lets us down, one of our favourites.

28th February. I ordered cod and chips. The cod was the size of my thumb covered in batter. The chips were burnt and came with a pinch of watercress. Complained to the waitress ,she ignored me . At £20 overpriced.will not go again . I will keep my loyalty to Da Roccios Thornton Rd.

Here for business in Halifax,imagine finding a high class Italian restaurant,when you least expected. Needs to blow its own trumpet,was a pleasure dining here,from the exceptional welcome,to watching the young chef prepare the food,with a passion and gusto, I would recommend you visit this restaurant, and transport yourself to sitting by the canals of Venice,the food is excellent.

Amazing. Just amazing, the food is maginificent and it is a generous portion for quite a fair price. Would totally recommend this restaurant.

Two of us went for Saturday lunch and had a fabulous meal. I had a spinach and walnut filled pasta which was tasty and a huge portion and my husband had the meze, again, a huge portion. I finished with the delicious torta barozzi and my husband squeezed in an affogato. The service was great and we really liked the ambiance. I’m sure we’ll be back even though we are not local.

Absolutely beautiful place First visit after being to Halifax many times and living here in the past .. very unsure why I have never been to Ricci’s Place. Food & service exceptional Lovely to have my birthday treat here Just a pity my best friend couldn’t join us. My fourth visit to Ricci's place and each time the food has been better and better. I can't recommend it highly enough. This time I ate the Belly pork from the specials menu incredibly tasty and a huge portion.

First timers tonight- we will be back, simply brilliant, it’s a friends local and for over two years been going to meet up here. A medical appointment found me in the vicinity and what a wonderful place. I am gluten and lactose free. Wow you served me well brilliantly fresh cooked food, with a very pleasing bill at the end of it. We will be back. Cocktails -3 courses -coffee - liqueur at less than £60pp - what’s not to like.

Ricci's is definitely on our favourites list after just one visit. All the food was excellent, the staff professional and very hard working. Great value for excellent food. Definitely recommended.

Cool vibe, and the food was amazing!

Ordered the prawn starter and bread, the prawns where impressive and tasted nice, the mains however where incredibly disappointing, the crab linguine wasn't anything special and was picking bits of shell out, the seafood risotto was impressive to view but the muscles where gritty and the prawns still had waste in. I can understand that it can't be perfection every time, but I believe their issues could have been avoided, especially for the price you're paying. In the end, we should have paid the £40! cancellation fee not the £73 bill. The waiters and waitresses where however very friendly.

Delicious food and exceptional service, whether going for breakfast, lunch or dinner, Ricci's will never disappoint. The pasta was cooked to perfection, the sauce had a fantastic depth of flavour and was balanced perfectly, didn't feel too heavy or overwhelming. The specials are always fantastic as well

The atmosphere is amazing and the staff are on top providing an amazing service, got taken here for a date and no idea how much it cost per person but absolutely worth a visit

This has become our go to place when we visit Halifax. We have experienced breakfast, lunch and dinner services and on every occasion we have eaten in Ricci's the staff have been friendly and very attentive. The Lasagne is probably the best I've ever had and the fillet steak gnocchi with a creamy peppercorn sauce is truly amazing.

Had a really lovely meal on Thursday 17th October 24 with my friend before a local jazz night - meatballs - very very lovely indeed - packed with flavour with fresh ingredients - some staff were ON THE BALL some were a little dreamy but that was the only inconsistency- would definitely visit again.

Went for a mother and daughter lunch today. Always lovely. Highly recommend.

Went in and first impression when walked in is they where no customers to be seen but we still came and we ordered our starters witch where unreal and then to the mains the supposed to be lasagna was tomato sauce nothing more not a bit off mince in site I was out with family and me and my work mum ordered the same main and we was far from impressed the customer service I recived was unacceptable and rude will never visit again avoid at all cost because I’m really not someone to complain and the bill they tried to charge us for two meals because we weren’t happy with the first one

Booked a meal prior to going to the Daniel Martinez Flamenco company performance. Lovely friendly welcome, very attentive service, nice ambience. The menu was varied & every dish so appetizing. We chose from the special menu. The steak & gnocchi in peppercorn sauce & fish & pea risotto were sensational. We had desserts - again delicious. Even the drinks were so well presented. A lovely restaurant that, in my opinion ticks all the boxes 10/10

The food was delicious 😋, I had the House Lasagna with added parmesan cheese on top and for dessert I had three flavours of Gelato, vanilla, peppermint chocolate chip and strawberry flavour it was very good and a glass of iced water with a lemon slice in it, the staff were very friendly.

We've been coming to Ricci's Place for years - since it opened in fact - and it never fails to please. We were here this time for my husband's birthday and the food and atmosphere combined made a perfect end to the day. We both had starters and mains from the specials menu - Portobello mushrooms in a garlic creme fraiche sauce on brioche, followed by Cacio e pepe tortellini for me and Italian nachos, followed by the Mezze platter for my husband. It was all delicious. The portions are on the large side so, sadly, we didn't have room for dessert this time. There's always plenty to choose from and the main menu changes seasonally (although there are always old favourites making an appearance), together with a specials menu which is regularly updated. It's a fairly small restaurant and was packed at 7pm when we left so I'd recommend booking in advance, especially in the evening and on a Saturday. The atmosphere is relaxed and, although there's background music it's never intrusive. The kitchen is open so you can see what's going on. The service is friendly and attentive but not overly so. Ricci's Place is open all day so you can go for breakfast too - we have on many occasions and have always enjoyed it, coming away feeling fully set up for the day. Michael and his team have made this one of the most enjoyable and best places to eat in Halifax and I would highly recommend it.

Came here for a meal with colleagues. Starters of wings and fried ravioli. Both really good. Mains of steak. Ok. Nothing special. A vegi plater. That was not of poor quality. But was rather confused. . Kimchi goat cheese roll. Anti pasti. Good breads and spreads and a ploughman’s collection of cheese that was a bit lost. Lastly was a risotto that could have been very good if not served with long grain rice! Mushy is not a good texture. Nice staff and good drinks selection.

Been here for breakfast several times, and food always excellent, lovely venue, and friendly staff. On most recent visit with a friend, we both had a house breakfast and a coffee. I had milk in my coffee, and my friend asked if they could have oat milk (a perfectly normal and common request these days). Fine, their coffee arrived with oat milk instead. But afterwards, I realised Ricci's had slapped an extra £0.50 on the bill for the oat milk! Really?? I have never - EVER - known anywhere charge extra for a dash of oat milk rather than "normal" milk. Sometimes it's little things that leave a bad taste that matter, and that just felt mean :(

Not been before, not for anything other than historical reasons. Good place, attentive staff and the food was excellent. Menu is a bit limited but the specials were cracking and not overly priced. Well worth the visit

I have been visiting Ricci’s place for years but I recently had my first experience of going for breakfast. One word…wow. I was completely blown away by the quality, portion size and service me and my friend received, despite it being a busy Saturday morning. I have visited most breakfast places in the local area but I can’t see myself ever going anywhere else!

Having worked for Michael in a previous venture I always know the food will be good. My partner and I were out celebrating your 10th Anniversary, we were only meant to be out for a few drinks but as so often happens the hours ticked by and our belly's starting grumbling. Town was very busy due to a gig at the Piece Hall. We went in to Ricci's place without a reservation knowing it was very unlikely we would find a table. The staff at the door were brilliant, we were welcomed with big smiles and told very clearly they can get us a table but we would only have 50 minutes before they need it back, and they advised to only have one course. This worked for us I liked how open and honest the team were. We ordered a beautiful bottle of organic Primativo which came within seconds and our order taken within a few minutes. I asked if we could order one of the "For The Table" dishes but not as a starter just to send when ready and no worries if the mains arrived whilst we had it. The waiter was fine with this and the Pesto Bruschetta arrived almost immediately. For mains we picked a classic Lasagne and a special mezze of hummus dips and Merguez Sausage. The tomato sauce on the lasagne is the best I have ever had. The depth of flavor was insane for something so simple as a tomato sauce. The mezze as also delicious and beautifully presented. About 4 for 5 minutes into our mains a waiter can to table check us and we said how happy we were with it all. After about 45 minutes of being there we have had our lovely meal, polished off the bottle of wine and were able to ask for the bill. The service was exactly what I would expect from this top notch place: professional, attentive without being overbearing, friendly and above all very welcoming. Like going to eat at your favorite aunties house. Thank you to all the lovely staff and a big shout out the the very hard working kitchen team who hardly got change to look up from their fast paced sections. It will not be long before we are back. Agism is a problem for single old men here, you are rudely turned away and if you do get to stay and do not tip them, They will not let you in again any reason to push old men out a bad place.

We live in Halifax and frequently went to riccis tapas Dean clough.. we have always said we need to go to ricci’s place but just never got there.. well tonight we did, we have been missing out… just outstanding from the minute we arrived… Lucas greeted us. No wait for wine order! Lucas recommended the duck to my husband. Amazing food . The whole experience was fantastic. Lucas chatted to us like friends. At the end of a meal we love an Irish coffee with fresh cream not tin cream. Thankfully Lucas laughed when we asked .. he said it isn’t a coffee If it isn’t fresh cream. Just amazing and thank you for a great meal . Perfect

Came across this place by accident, we were visiting Halifax for a live event at The Piece Hall and had been turned away from a couple of places that couldn't fit us in, Ricci's Place squeezed in an extra table and welcomed us in. Wow, the food was delicious, I chose the seabass from the specials and my daughter chose a caesar salad, without a few bits.... anchovies and egg... both dishes were delicious, will definitely return if in the area again.

First time I visited, ordered the deep fried mozzeralla off the specials board, it came and looked great but was lukewarm sauce and middle of the mozzeralla was freezing. Sent it back, heard it sometimes is like that and the looks i got from the kitchen werent great, well never have I had it ice cold in the middle but got another one and wasn't as cold but very disappointed. Then a couple who quite clearly were regulars literally stood with their backsides on my shoulder while I ate, staff were looking as well as other tables and they didn't ask them to move which they should have. Freya my waitress was amazing however but wasn't a great first impression.

Was very noisy as there was a large group in some of whom got very drunk,seems very popular

Booked a table of 15 for my mum's 50th birthday brunch with family and friends and Ricci's was amazing! From start to finish the service was amazing, the food was delicious, and everyone had a great time. It was great that they let us bring balloons and some decorations to make the brunch special. Could not recommend more!

Food is really nice but the manager/owner is very rude and told me I could not afford to have broccoli with my daughters meal!!!!!!!

Both meals well cooked and very tasty. Tables close together. Only improvement would be a bit of bread to mop up the delicious sauce.

I heard mixed reveiws before I went here. I wasn't overly optimistic. Walking in the place is very nice. Well decorated, well set out, nice clean toilets. Food.... really really nice, no issues at all. Time between courses was just right. My only knock with the place is we were told on booking "you have to be out by 8.30pm, your table is booked out". We had plenty of time but we shouldn't feel rushed because you have another booking. That was not acceptable. Other than that I highly recommend the place.

I expected it to be very pricey, but I was wrong. 4 of us with soft drinks, teas coffess, etc. we had a main course which was very well cooked to perfection (steak) with dessert for 2 sticky toffee pudding and a good selection cheese board costing under £100. (£87) All in all, a very good meal for a decent price would recommend

Food good ,service ,was greeted when we arrived, but I found the table that was provided too small and we felt quite enclosed ,unable to move freely.

Visited this afternoon for a late lunch based on recommendations and it was fabulous as promised. Spinach and ricotta ravioli and aperol spritz with a basket of bread. All terrific. No room for dessert - would have loved to try the Betty's tiramusu. I can understand why so popular. Feels very authentic. Love great Italian food. 😍

I had been looking forward to trying this place for ages and was quite disappointed. The staff and service were good, other than getting our order wrong and not putting in our coffee order when we asked, but the food was pretty terrible. I had spaghetti gragnano and while the pasta was fine, the sauce tasted as though it was made with Heinz tomato soup and it looked like half a bag of frozen peas had been dumped on it at the end. For £15 at a specialist Italian restaurant I would expect better ingredients and presentation. It was such a heap of food as well that I only managed about a quarter before giving up. I wouldn’t rush back.

Absolutely stunning food and cocktails at very reasonable prices. Staff very knowledgeable and aware of coeliac requirements, and lots of options for gluten free. Only very minor negative was a bit of a cold draft when the door was opened!

Fabulous food, fabulous place! Always book as very busy. Great vibe and friendly and helpful waiting staff. Love the crab linguine and sea bass ravioli. The warm bread with dips is also delicious. Lots of choice on the menu. There is also a well stocked bar including cocktails. One of the best restaurants in Halifax. I would highly recommend.

Really really really good 😊. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The atmosphere and decor was very good. And all the food we ate was exceptional. The homemade bread with oil and vinegar was a great starter to share, if you're not super hungry.

Visiting Riccis is always a treat for us. We go regularly for breakfast or in the evening as its our favourite restaurant 😋. Fabulous food with a great selection to choose from. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming and the service is excellent. Would definitely recommend booking as it gets very busy which adds to the buzzing atmosphere. Altogether Excellent!
