ROK Kitchen in Chelmsford

We had been looking forward to trying the ROK kitchen and were not disappointed. We received a very nice welcome and were quickly seated. The ROK is only small but there are several tables and a couple outside. The menu caters for both meat and non meat eaters. We settled for loaded katsu curry fries with chicken and a chicken rice bowl with the ROKs home made Gochujang hot sauce, lovely! All the food was delicious. Theres tofu and quorn onions for non meat eaters. There's also a great selection of drinks including ROK lager brewed by the Brentwood Brewery and other local beers. Prices were reasonable for both food and drinks. Really enjoyed it and will return.

First time here after missing South Korea, so glad I did. Warm welcome and inclusive vibes. Had a very tasty Korean fried chicken rice bowl and the homemade kimchi was delicious. Had an enjoyable conversation with the owner too about their inspiration for the restaurant and was even treated to a shot of Soju at the end of my visit. Would highly recommend and will be coming back for sure!

Went with friends on a Wednesday night. No problem booking a table. All our food was truly excellent. Good local beer and ale on draft. The girls rated the triple chocolate brownie as ‘the best they’d ever had’. Lovely friendly and fun service too. Bit of a gem this one - would definitely recommend.

Disappointing meal crammed into restaurant sitting on bar stalls with staff squeezing around you and due to the size can get very noisey . It feels so cramped in there that you are sitting on top of one another and regretted coming into eat and could not wait to eat and leave . Concerned about the cleanliness as drinks like beers surplus just goes on floor behind the few pumps and when delivered to the table and the floors are sticky as well as the tables and believe the whole restaurant needs a very good clean everywhere as well as some of the staff clothing looked abit dirty in there appearance .Shame as the staff are friendly but look abit overwhelmed with all the food needed to be served from a tiny kitchen at the back of the restaurant and the many orders of the takeaways being sent out on just eat .We both ordered the chicken rice dish but found it was very limited in its portion of chicken and the slaw it came with was not very fresh almost been prepared days ago and the sauce lacking in the rice bowl so meal became very bland and dry and barely warm and for the price with rice bowl and drinks not really that reasonable in price ! You do not feel like you want to dress up here it’s more dress down with the theme of this street food cafe / restaurant and so I would never return !

Roc Kitchen is another food destination on Moulsham Street that is not another chain restaurant. The food is delicious. Lovely place, lovely people, lovely food. Oh, and they are inclusive employers. Not just a slogan. They are really open to providing jobs to people who are neurodivergent. It’s a place doing great food and great things for society. It deserves a visit. Actually, more than one.

They have a food stall in central London, near Holborn, Leather Lane to be exact. A friend and I visited, we paid separately and bought different burgers, but the lady said my transaction did not go through, it seemed like a genuine connection error, and without looking at the machine or getting a receipt, I said OK and provided payment again. Big mistake. Only being in the area for a short while, it stayed at pending so I thought maybe it will cancel out, but both transaction confirmed. My bank transaction shows "ROK Kitchen" and the owners and contact details are the same. After reaching out they said they'll refund me, but asked for till next week, which I agreed. Weeks past so I contacted them again - same thing. Eventually had to ask my bank to refund me. As far as I know, the bank just gave me my money and they wasted my time and they keep the double charge. Not fair and the more I think about it, it felt really odd, as if they do this often. Now, on to the burger. It was dry and honestly was a bit surprised how rock hard it was. I suspect it was just reheated. The chips was average too. For a takeaway it was pricey.

Visited Rok Kitchen on Saturday night and despite being very busy they were still happy to squeeze in our extra, last minute guest, making us a table of 7. The service throughout the evening was fab and we will definitely be coming back! We shared a selection of wings to start and then some of us had the loaded chips and others burgers, all were delicious with clear plates all round. We also had the brownie for dessert - highly recommend if you can fit it in after eating! There was a good range of local drinks available, I really enjoyed the Essex Citrus Gin. We also tried the Soju! Thanks for a great evening, look forward to coming back.

Outstanding food, the angry and sweet chilli wings are the best I’ve had! Fabulous friendly staff! I would highly recommend ROK to anyone looking for well cooked, fabulous quality food! We have had takeaway food delivered too and the quality has always been fabulous!!

Had a lovely meal out with the wife at ROK Kitchen. The staff were brilliant and the food was amazing. Our first visit, however won’t be our last!

AMAZING FOOD, the homemade kimchi and crispy homemade chicken were my favourite, really good local juices, beers too and such a warm friendly atmosphere! I highly recommend a visit!

Nice food, asian street food style restaurant. However was asked not to return having debated the restaurants 'inclusivity' policy (as in what does this actually mean - I haven't seen a restaurant in the UK that has EVER excluded anyone). Ironically we were then excluded. For the record the debate was a private conversation between myself and my friend at the table and we wasn't being loud or badly behaved, so very disappointing to have been overheard and highly ironic at the outcome. Guess we won't be going back :(

After watching Tom Kerridges programme on BBC we were jealous of not having many great places on our doorstep - only to randomly walk into Rok and found what we wanted. Great food, good prices and a nice atmosphere. The owners were very friendly, good offering on the menu for food, drinks and pudding.

Great little place for some superb street food. We had a few dishes to share, which were really tasty and reasonably priced. The couple that run it were very friendly and chatty. We will be back!

Visited Rok Kitchen in Chelmsford last night with friends. Korean street food that was absolutely delicious! Eating out when I need to be gluten free and with a husband who is allergic to eggs is often challenging and very limited! I felt so at ease with all the information shared, care and attention! It was an absolute pleasure! I am super sensitive and had no issues 😍 I had every dishes ingredient explained, super careful about cross contamination. Many of the sauces were suitable for me to eat, the Katsu and Angry Chicken wings were divine and the Katsu fries absolutely gorgeous! My husband had a more limited egg free choice but the Bruschetta, ribs and short rib rice salad were delicious. They offered to make egg free chicken if we give them notice of our next visit. Brilliant playlist and a great atmosphere! Highly recommended for a visit, they are a brilliant family run business in Moulsham Street.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Small but well laid out cozy spot where you will find creative and delicious food , interesting drinks and local beers, still served by a warm and attentive staff. The chef himself waited on us during our second visit here which made it even more personal. Don't miss this place. It's a real gem.

Consistently great food. We’ve eaten here a few times and it never disappoints. The Rok Burger is amazing and I can understand why it is has won awards? Also recommend to any of the loaded fries. The Beef Rice Bowl also delicious. We never have to wait too long and the food is always fresh and tasty. Great selection of drinks too. Friendly and helpful staff and a great atmosphere make this a great place to eat.

OMG this is the best Korean food I have ever tasted. Really friendly staff, lovely atmosphere But those wings and burgers are amazing I can't wait to come back and try everything on the menu

Great experience on every level. Food, service, drinks, vibe and value. Loved the bustling atmosphere and that the owners and staff have that "everyone does everything" attitude. Delicious wings and rice bowls but I would have eaten everything they serve happily. Small wine list but something for all and finally, warm, funny, efficient and personal service from the owners and staff. Don't miss it.

Love this place, consistently great food at reasonable prices. Owners are friendly and welcoming. A lovely independent place which makes a welcome change from the endless chain restaurants of Chelmsford. Thoroughly recommend.

Absolutely love Rok Kitchen! We have visited a few times and have had a consistently wonderful experience! The food is amazing - if you can get the short rib burger then go for it. The drink selection wonderfully compliments the food. Service is just on...
