Really good pub grub, service is a bit flakey though

Service was fantastic, friendly staff who constantly restocked the fire with logs for us , shoutout to Tony who made us feel very at home. Will certainly be returning to try the food :)

A more modern, but lovely pub. The location of the pub is perfect, right next to Richmond park and 10-15 minutes away from Kew Gardens. The pub is lovely, with a mix of both modern and older furniture and it has a lot of natural light coming from it's many windows. Great food. I would say it's a bit more modern in the presentation that more typical pubs. The food was great,.nice presentation and good portions. We went for a sunday roast (veg, pork and beef) and all were great. They also brought us plenty of vegetables as a side. Only one note: if you love Yorkshire puddings, it does not come with the pork one.

Great visit - the chicken & nduja gnocchi was excellent. Came on a rainy Tueaday so will be back for the view!

Absolutely appallingly slow service from the off. Myself and my partner bought a camembert which came with just 1 slice of sourdough and 2 crumpets between 2 of us. We asked for more bread, as had 3/4 of the camembert left over to which we got charged £1.50 for. This was literally 1 more slice of sour dough. The pub was incredibly hot and musky. Would not recommend this what so ever. Many other better pubs in Richmond. O

We had an enjoyable Sunday dinner a few weeks ago at this lovely pub. The staff were very attentive, the atmosphere was great and the food was delicious - especially the beef and raclette cheese shortcrust pie!

Great Sunday roast after a day of walking around Richmond Park. Great atmosphere year round. Beautiful rustic pub downstairs with a wonderfully furnished seating area upstairs.

Wow what a meal! We went to The Roebuck for their excellent Sunday Roast dinner and were not disappointed ... better get a reso early ... like 3 weeks early if you want to get a good table because it fills up fast! Had the Rump roast served with duck fat roasted potatoes, roasted veg and Yorkshire pudding. What a feed! Roast and trimming were cooked to perfection. If you are in Richmond on a Sunday ... make the reso ahead and go for the afternoon feast of your life! You will not be disappointed!

Great service especially from Tom who made everything so seamless and nothing was a bother whilst taking our requests. Great to have staff that clearly care about their job and the reputation. Great team working yesterday!

Excellent meal and service with Roya!

I cannot remember the last time I had such a horrible meal. We had made a reservation at 7 and got seated quickly in the back. 20 minutes go by and we wonder if the servers will come with water. Another 20 minutes go by and someone finally asks if we have put in an order yet. So finally, at 7:40 we put in our order of drinks and three roasts and one of the platters. They say the scotch egg needs to be made so we can wait for 15 minutes if we would like the platter. No problem and we happily waited and got the platter by 7:50. The platter was nice. Good scotch egg and sausage roll and lovely cheese. Then things got worse. We were waiting and waiting and still no mains. They had asked us about mains when we got the platter served thinking the mains would shortly come. It’s now 8:45 and the server says that the mains should be coming any minute now. Finally ten minutes later our mains come. And we were amazingly disappointed. And that is saying a lot after waiting more than an hour for our mains. The chicken roast was so dry it was almost impossible to cut and it was only one measly piece. Keep in mind the roast is £22 a plate. And there were five half pieces of potato with no seasoning and a half cup of partially congealed gravy. Then the pork roast. That was even worse. It was two of the driest pork belly pieces we have ever seen and practically inedible. In the end there was maybe two bits of eatable pork. At least the beef roast was still pink and ok. The shriveled carrot and parsnip on the side with the shredded beet was probably the most edible part of the meal. We couldn’t even say a complaint about the food because the server was basically never there after serving the food. We were very disappointed as this place is highly rated. I don’t believe I could recommend this to someone after this experience. We paid £100 for this meal of shriveled food. At least the new server took the service charge off, so there was acknowledgment of the wait time. However that does not make up for the food. After all that, I don’t suggest going here but find another of many places to eat a Sunday roast.

We had two meals at the Roebuck today which were excellent. This morning we had breakfast which was very good. This evening we had roast beef followed by sticky toffee pudding. The roast was one of the best we have had . Great beef and gravy and perfectly cooked vegetables. A big thank you to Charlotte and Bianca for looking after us so well. You were great. A big thank you to Tony for arranging our table today and of course the Chefs for doing such good meals. Thank you.

We had a fantastic family lunch in the Turner Room which was such a lovely setting for our special day. The three waitresses were amazing, providing friendly and attentive service throughout. They catered brilliantly for one gluten free, and a picky toddler. They made everyone feel truly looked after. Delicious food, great atmosphere, and outstanding service, we couldn’t have asked for more! Thanks team!

We had booked Sunday dinner. We arrived to be told that they had completely sold out of the roasts, leaving us a choice of a pie or fish and chips only. We were made to feel like this was our fault for not coming for lunch. We then waited over an hour for our food, despite it not being that busy. The food was OK, but not brilliant, and certainly not worth the wait or price. Overall, it was a really disappointing experience, we won't be back.

Our host Soph was amazing & so friendly, she was very attentive & sweet and was a great host. Lovely service & definitely a time to come!

Cracker pub, great food and friendly staff

If I could give zero stars I would. The worst catering for someone with a common allergy I have ever witnessed. We came here for a Sunday roast and ordered a beef roast each and a glass of Malbec. After the normal process of checking through the allergen menu with the manager whilst ordering and settling on the beef roast, the mass panic began…starting with the drinks, the staff member came out to our table and passed me the bottle of Malbec as he wasn’t sure if it contained nuts as he once saw wine has ‘notes of cherry and cherry has a seed inside of it’ and they recently had an incident whereby someone ordered vegan ice cream and was served dairy ice cream accidentally…this of course didn’t fill me with the greatest amount of confidence however I checked the wine bottle and alas, no nuts just like every other bottle of wine on planet earth…20 mins later my food arrived and the beef that was advertised as being ‘served pink’ on my plate was served anything but pink, whilst my friends was served pink as stated on the menu. We queried this and it was initially sent back and the staff member said she would swap my beef for a pinker cut. After 5/10 minutes the staff came out again without my plate of food. I was told that i couldn’t have the same cut as my friends as there had been too much cross contamination with that cut of pink beef in the kitchen, so I could either wait an hour for a new batch to be cooked, or i could choose another roast off the allergen menu...the chicken roast was out of stock so this left the pork. After checking again through the allergen menu the pork should have been allergen free for me, so I chose that and they accepted my order. However the staff came back again 5/10 minutes later to inform me they also can’t serve me the pork as the nut roast wellington has been ‘over the pork’ in the kitchen and therefore there has now also been too much cross contaminated and its not safe for me…meanwhile my friend is 3/4 of the way through her meal and it’s completely cold due to all the faffing around us…whilst i appreciate the transparency in not serving me food that was unsafe, it seems The Roebuck need to do a lot better with their kitchen safety standards…allergies are hugely common in todays world and I was made to feel highly uncomfortable by the lack of awareness and massively unsafe. At this point over an hour had gone by and I wasn’t comfortable to order anything off the menu, however two of the staff members came back again and assured me they would cook me something safe and it would come out extremely fast as my friend had pretty much finished her meal. A couple of drinks had been offered to us on the house so I tried once again. I ordered an alternative meal off the main menu, something simple and I was once again assured that this was safe and completely nut free and contamination free. We finished the meal and requested the bill. The staff apologised for the inconvenience and went on to inform me that actually the sheer mention of my nut allergy upon arrival at the restaurant, the kitchen staff said they ‘didn’t want to serve me any food at all’. Just when I thought I couldn’t feel more uncomfortable, embarrassed and annoyed by the experience. I said I wish they had just been transparent with that information from the beginning and we would have left and gone elsewhere. To top the worst dining experience of my life we where met with a full price bill for two beef roasts…we queried this as whilst this was my initial order..it was a completely different meal to what I ended up with. The bill came back again and still no offer of any type of discount off the food for the massive inconvenience from their end. Out of principle I queried this once again and the same manager was brought over, she listened and agreed that it wasn’t good enough and went on to explain about problems within the company with how they deal with allergies..a pathetic 10% token gesture was applied to the bill and we where told this is ‘the best they could do’ Moral of the story, avoid this place like the plague.

Pésimo servicio. Pedimos, luego 1 hora después nos dijeron que el pollo estaba fuera del menú para el asado del domingo y no había puré para el pastel. El personal era desdeñoso y desinteresado a pesar de que varias mesas tenían que preguntar dónde estaba su comida. No regresaré. Habíamos estado antes y disfrutamos, pero definitivamente ha bajado colina.

The Roebuck is our favourite pub to come to when in Richmond. Close and convenient to our hotel too! The staff are always great and friendly. In fact we are going again tonight!!!

My family and I are visiting from the states and ate here for dinner. Everything was outstanding and our server Charlotte was very attentive! The view from the restaurant was just the icing on the cake. Would come back again and again if we could!

Didn’t have the duck available, nor violet gin, didn’t give us menus until we had waited fot drinks. Ordering the steak, it didn’t come with a steak knife (we had to ask for one). The “vegan” dessert came with dairy ice cream which caused an allergic reaction. It’s a shame as it’s a nice pub, perfect location, a and our server was great

Really nice pub. Food was good. The interior had a lot of cute details. Good view at the river. If you want to go outside and enjoy the weather, they give you your drinks in a cup.

This pub is at a nice location overlooking the thames river besides that the chicken escalope was magnificent.

I bought a pint of orange juice and lemonade (which was mostly ice) and they charged me £9.15! I had two friends who bought pints of beer which were cheaper than my drink. I can’t believe what a rip off my drink was! Not happy at all.

Bianca was outstanding! Greeted warmly and is a credit to your establishment. We enjoyed our roasts and will be returning when we come back to the Richmond area. If I could give six stars I would!

Un regalo de Pascua. Llegamos a la ciudad temprano, así que fuimos a caminar por el parque y a lo largo del río para crear apetito. Era un buen día, así que la zona principal del bar estaba ocupada, pero el comedor de arriba era bastante tranquilo. Si tienes la suerte de tener una ventana en la parte delantera, la vista le da a este lugar algunos puntos. El comedor no está demasiado lleno, lo que es una ventaja rara. El personal era amable y atento. La comida era preciosa. El tamaño de la porción de los asados era un poco pequeño para el precio, pero el valor general era adecuado para el lugar y la calidad. Sin duda volvería de nuevo.

Really nice pub for a sunday roast

Miércoles por la noche antes de Semana Santa, pub estaba muy lleno, pero el personal muy servicial cuando se le pidió comida para dos sin una reserva. Era un caso de “si encuentras espacio” a por ello. Ambos comimos bacalao con patatas fritas. Fue decente pero no excepcional. Esto no es Hinds Head en Bray pero tampoco lo son los precios! El pescado estaba bueno, pero la masa estaba demasiado cocida, casi hasta el punto de que sentí que si se podría haber refrito! Espero que no. Ambiente encantador, gran lugar.

Charming pub ,vibrant energy on the lower level and calm atmosphere upstairs. I got the pork belly roast and it was amazing (melts in your mouth) so we're the vegetables. If you are lucky enough you may get a seat by the window overlooking the park next door and the river Thames below... Perfect. Service was also on point 😃

We had a fantastic meal at Roebuck in Richmond. The view from the pub is absolutely gorgeous, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed afternoon. Our waitress, Bianca, was brilliant — friendly and attentive. We ordered burgers and gnocchi, both of which were delicious and full of flavour. The drinks were equally good, with a great selection of beers and well-made cocktails. The atmosphere was lively but still relaxed, and the service was consistently excellent. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for great food, drinks, and views in Richmond!

If I lived in Richmond, or nearby, I think this would be my favorite pub. The atmosphere is great. We got to sit at the coveted Parliamentary table that is much sought after and arguably has the best view in London.

It was a lovely sunset and amazing view, and stayed for dinner. Charlotte was really lovely looked after us very well. The upstairs dining room is really nicely refurbished.

Terrible service and rude staff

We spent a convivial afternoon here with family after a meander through Richmond while visiting the UK on spring break. A warm, atmosphere, welcoming and accommodating staff, and delicious food and drinks made for the perfect pub experience for our group of eight. We appreciate that they allowed us to settle in on a misty day with no time pressure to turn over the table. Highly recommended!

Lovely pub at the top of Richmond. It’s a bit dark inside but cosy atmosphere for a pint. We took our drinks across the street to enjoy the wonderful river views. Loos in the back clean. Also saw some dog biscuits for the pups.

Food was lovely, the sourdough was a little disappointing and the squid had too much batter, but the roasts were beautiful, as was the sticky toffee pudding. Service was disappointing. We were sat near the toilets at the back, when there was plenty of space elsewhere. I asked if we could have a table but they were “Al booked”. No one showed up for the following the hours. It took 20mins before I eventually got up to find someone to take our order, no one had an appeared even for drinks/water. My glass of wine was either old, or corked. When I raised this with the waiters I was told that the she just opened the bottle new, and that she could bring it to me to prove it, it was quite abrasive and loud. I didn’t argue that it was opened new, but the wine was definitely off. Eventually she asked me if I wanted another and this was a saving grace. The waitress who took over after that was much more attentive. Appeared in our section much more often and was so much friendlier. So our experience was more of a one off with service. Ambience was lovely. It’s a great pub, wonderful location, really quite special.

I just have to take a moment to shout out the incredible service I received from Ailise at the Roebuck pub. From the moment we walked in, she made us feel completely welcome and at ease. Her warm, genuine personality shines through — nothing was too much trouble, and she handled everything with such professionalism and charm. Also, lovely atmosphere and views.

Increíble ubicación y con el hermoso clima las vistas sobre el río vale la pena visitar este lugar. La cola para una bebida era enorme y creo que más personal requerido en general, sin embargo, el personal es brillante y hacer frente a un montón de gente que acude a este lugar. La comida era promedio, demasiado cocinada y algunas otras frías, pero de nuevo creo que esto se debe a que necesita más personal, lo que aprecio que es un desafío en este momento Recomendaría a fondo una visita, solo sé consciente de que no es una experiencia gastro (¿aún?)

Nice little pub, full of tourists. Couple little niggly things... dish inordered wasnt available so had to swop it for something else, instead of a straight swop by the kitchen I had to faf and credit it back and then pay again. Also everyone creates one long queue for the bar, weird.

Great local pub with low ceilings,good selection of local ales and good choice of beers,combined with the great view outside makes it good location to visit,for myself it is a local so I'm not getting that excited but if you visiting the area it is a must especially around sunset to admire the views. Bare in mind it is quite pricey, but for Richmond, it is no surprise.

I visited The Roebuck in Richmond upon Thames on Monday and had a lovely pint of Aspall cider while sitting outside. The weather was perfect, and the stunning view from Richmond Hill made the experience even better—one of the best spots in London to enjoy a drink with a scenic backdrop. The pub itself is charming and full of character, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It’s a great place to unwind, whether you’re looking for a casual drink, a hearty meal, or just a peaceful moment taking in the breathtaking landscape. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in Richmond!

I have been attending this pub for 20 years and tonight the service was the worst I have ever been subjected to. A friend of mine and I are known to a particular member of staff serving who couldn’t have tried harder to avoid any social niceties. It takes a lot for me to have to write in and complain. I’m afraid it paints a dreadful picture for loyal customers. I hope you take this seriously as you can’t rely on the location providing you customer forever.
