Hampton Ale House in Richmond upon Thames

Came here on the uber at 12.30 then they said they won't serve us Update: This was late on Friday night, 18th October, and early hours Saturday morning 19th October. We were refused service to buy a couple drinks as the bar lady said we needed to be there before 11, despite Google giving this place a 2am closing time. Misleading times given and our friday night was unfortunately ruined and we wasted money on the uber there and back. Seemed like a good place but will not visit this place again despite it being local to us.

Pre-ordered Sunday roast when it arrived no yorkshire puddings not happy.

I was passing by The Hampton last Sunday, fancied a roast, and thought, why not? So I popped in. I ordered the roast lamb, and wow, I was not disappointed! Not only was there plenty of meat, but it was so tender! All the veggies were cooked to perfection and even Chef came to casually ask if everything was satisfactory. I've included a photo of Simon. Thank you, lovely roastie. His name is actually Sz-something, sorry, can't remember! Recently refurbished as well.

Visited the alehouse for the first time last night with some friends from work for the Tina Turner tribute night and what a night it was very friendly staff finally a pub with reasonable prices very good food we all had a great time I think I’d like to bring my family for a meal, judging by the food that I tried last night

i come into the hampton ale house regularly and i find the staff and manager very friendly and helpful and always smiling, the food is great , it’s always a warm and friendly atmosphere

Had the Sunday roast here last week and was absolutely beautiful ! Great atmosphere and service . Such a huge change since the refurbishment.

Great local pub with great bar staff especially Claire who I believe runs the pub! Always get great service and is very friendly!

A very welcoming pub with reasonable prices and very friendly and helpful staff. I have been coming here for a while and have never had a bad experience. Claire (the manger) is an exemplary example of a great manager putting the customers needs first and caters to everyone no matter who you are and delivers first class service with an exquisite smile. The food here is also very very nice. I would rate it very much and would advise anyone to come here.

Great for a pint when you're nipping to Sainsbury's. Plenty of parking.

Venue to meet friends and for celebrating.

Where to start?? My mum had her 72nd birthday there, we ordered a mini buffet for £50 and was perfect. This place is amazing for a function and the staff could not be any more helpful. The venue is decorated nicely and drinks are a good price. The coffee is amazing, as good (if not better) than some major coffee shops. Thank you for a amazing party!

Visited Hampton Ale House for the first time recently and found it to be very friendly and sociable. Had a really lovely meal of burger and chips. Will definitely be back as looking forward to trying their Sunday roast. Friendly staff and great service. Restaurant under New management and really trying to make it work in this nicely located community pub. Wishing them every success .

Disappointed to arrive at somewhere called Ale House and the solitary ale available was Doom Bar, whilst still an ale hardly constitutes a house full🤪

Quite an alright pub. Doesn't seem to be the best place for live music. Band we saw were awesome but the place seems more suited for really loud conversation.

I visited my parents in Hampton and decided to eat out. I asked my parents if there was a pub local that is walking distance and we arrived at The Hampton. We had drinks and lunch there. The food was excellent and would highly recommend them if you would like a nice meal. The steak was cooked to perfection and the currys were tasty and the meat in them were so tender. We will be back again, that's for sure. I even asked to speak to the chef to say how much we enjoyed the food. The bar girl was very pleasant too even though she was on her own. See you soon!

This was a pub I used to be in a lot as a child. It used to be called the Jester. I love the change they have done with the place and it’s still a very nice atmosphere for adults and children!

Nice Decor, Friendly Staff, & Beer Garden but sold out of Doombar...

Would never go back. Went for st. Patrick’s night. The pub was full of mums from the local school with their kids still in their uniform at 8pm. The food was terrible. The southern fried chicken breast was definitely not chicken, didn’t eat it🤢. We left after an hour, we won’t be returning. Heard some of the mums were still there after 12!

Nice place and staff, snooker table and a new menu (haven't tried the food yet), but definitely will give it a go

Wicked night out playing pool doing karaoke and a great atmosphere

Ordered 2 double vodkas and lemonade, I thought it ha been mixed with water the lemon ade was that flat. Also they were served up I half pint Guinness glasses 🤔, I asked for it to be made again with fresh lemonade to my shock and horror it was just as bad as the first one. To be honest you never see the mixers as they are always hidden as it's the cheapest bottles from Aldi/Lidl that they are using.Will never return to here ever in my life

Sunday roast. Beef was tough. Chicken tasteless, vegetables under cooked.yorkshire over cooked. No offer of refund. Wouldn't recommend to anybody.

Hi been here a couple of times now. The steak baguette was nice. So was the music. The only down side on both occasions were those annoying small pub flies. Please sort it out. Little off putting.

Great pub with a friendly landlady and locals

Bar staff disappeared waiting to get served with other customers he was on is mobile happened twice. Don't think I bother again and try a better run public house.

Lovely staff! They were really helpful today, when I am a woman without battery on my phone, they let me a charger and had a lovely pint in the mean time! Really appreciate this human gesture, as simple as that!

Saw the 'Ale House' name and looked inside for a real cider, as places that call themselves alehouses ofte have one. Turned out to only have chemofizzes, but looked a good pub apart from that.

Nice local pub, well worth a visit. Happy hour 11am to 3pm every day £3.50 pints and £3 pints on Monday. Had a very nice burger and chips yesterday evening.

Very rude management dont have a clue on how to treat people extremely rude. Dont recommend this place. Racist not a place where asians are welcome 0 stars if I had the option will never visit this place again.

Friendly staff fantastic local pub to hang out

Went to this pub last weekend. I contacted the pub via Facebook as I didn't know if I needed to book. Got a response the following day saying a table had been reserved for us. Really nice pub, good selection of lagers. They have a pool table there and had TVs showing the boring football. So here we go, ordered a pint of Amstel. To my delight it arrived in the all important Amstel glass. There is nothing worse in life than drinking a lager from the wrong glass. I couldn't tell you what the drinks prices were, but the final bill seemed quite reasonable. Friendly staff and good atmosphere in the pub. There was a band on..... The Bootleg Band. They were really good. I've only ever been to this pub once before. But as Arnie says "I'll be back".

Was a regular there , until I got barred for phoning an ambulance for a customer 12.30 on a monday afternoon, then get a phone call at 10.00pm from manager shouting abuse down the phone, lovely way to speak to a regular, maybe do a course on customer service,

This Pub dont allow to use Toilet for takeaway customer, what a shame and in human pub, humanity is-0% They blame government saying rules.

Best roast round here, meat from the local butchers, absolutely amazing

Great place nice to go back in after lockdown, all too often local places don’t put safety first but these guys aren’t one of them and the food is very well priced for how good it is. Sorry should have taken pic before I started!

We called in on a quiet Tuesday evening. Very friendly staff and great food. The calamari were lovely, the fried black pudding delicious and the ribeye steaks were as near perfect as you could wish for. And all great value too.

The food is OK but this place wouldn't know what an ale was if it punched them in the face. If it wasn't for the fact that it claimed it was an ale house, I'd probably give it 3 stars, but this is the definition of false advertising. It's a fairly generic pub that serves solid food and the expected selection of bland lagers and about 2 "ales" - probably Pride + something like Doombar. Not spectacular, not terrible. Just don't go expecting a wide variety of well poured ales. It doesn't have them.

I'm not quite a regular but I enjoy going to the pub as the staff are always friendly and the food is excellent plus the live music nights are top notch, I love the place.

Great local pub. Cosy yet decepitivley large, also has outdoor seating. Good choice of drinks and a very good home cooked food menu (the Sunday roast is a treat). Regular live music in the main bar and a pool table tucked away in the smaller bar. Also has Sky Sports. Will be back!!

A lovely evening at ‘The Hamptons Ale House’, super meal - I had the garlic mushrooms and a rack of ribs with fries and salad...absolutely delicious....best ever! The ribs were 25% off on Saturday...really really good value! The live band ‘Matrix’ were excellent and obviously pulled in the public. All in all a great evening.

I had to send my burger back. I paid the bill but will never eat there again. unfortunately it is very unhygienic. I have no doubt my burger had been dropped on the floor. It had grit and hair in it. The Irish lady/manager was very rude when I explained the situation so I paid the bill, and left the food. Never going back. THIS IS NOT A FAMILY FRIENDLY PUB. It’s more of a cocaine den for hooligans..

Lovely staff great beer "doombar"

Visited on Friday evening 23rd August. Its called Hampton ALE House. In my mind means real ales on either handpump or served by gravity. There was NO ale available, and on a very warm day.

Tbh haven't been here for years even though live local as was previously not that great, improved 100pc, nice staff, good food and pleasant atmosphere.

Perfect place for good beer, amazing food. Worth too try.

Where do I start I didn’t even want to give this a 1 star coke and lemonade flat poured out of plastic bottle charged 2.50 each ordered food girl said it would be a while I watched her go over to Sainsbury’s opposite buy it come back and cook it . It was vile save your money

Lovely place great food friendly staff

Under new management as of recently, has very nice selection on the menu and the staff are very friendly. Location is prime with a pleasant patio, ample outside seating and on the inside, a very gentle touch of eclectic with you're obvious choice in furnishings. Warm and gentle tunes play at just the right level. Live music tribute bands play every month. All-in-all, a good choice to spend an evening.

Dropped in for lunch last Sunday. Food was good and reasonably priced. Roast pork with all the trimmings. Very nice.

Perfect for food and drinks. Nice quality food. Good price for lunch and not only. Pub is serving Breakfast from 8 am,and the food is serve all day.
