A reasonably priced cosy local and nearest pub to the station. Good food, good drinks. Doesn’t show football but nice outside space at the front

Always a pleasure to spend an evening at The Railway Bell ( 'the dip' ) Myself and my sister pooped in for a drink on Saturday evening - which of course, ended up being three drinks! It's such a nice atmosphere and the staff are friendly,professional and always welcoming. With so many bars, pubs and restaurants closing down since the pandemic, I'm incredibly grateful that The Dip hasn't changed a bit 🙏 ♥

Myself and some friends were recently turned away from this pub for having “had enough already” despite having been stone cold sober and one heavily pregnant… very cliquey pub where only locals seem to be welcomed so I wouldn’t bother unless you meet that criteria! Very rude bar woman, literally renowned for her terrible service and we unfortunately had to experience that last night.

Nice to see a few different ales on hand pump, a bit disappointing that my 'pint' was delivered with a 'head' each time though. I know I could have asked for it to be topped off (& often do) but if pubs want to serve beer with a head, please use lined glasses. It was a nice friendly pub, not too busy or loud and I'd still recommend it.

Often overlooked, but this place really is the ebst pub around. Certainly if you want a good pint of Guinness! Good beer at affordable prices, lovely outdoor seating anda homely cosy inside. The staff are SO hard working and ultra friendly. Great local vibe and never a problem here.

Friendly landlady who was very attentive, arriving to take the order for another round at the right time. One of the few pubs to sell Rekorderlig Apple cider, very pleasant.

Pub grub at its very best, the rib-eye steak was to die for! The outside dining area is large, well covered and away from any busy roads. The staff are cheerful and efficient - nothing is too much trouble.

We visited on a Sunday and opted for the Sunday roast at £11.95, it was very good value indeed. The broccoli was steamed perfectly, the carrots were flavourful, the roasties were massive and well cooked. The yorkie wasn’t bad either. But I never thought I’d say this... the cabbage was superb! The roast beef was plentiful and well sliced - clearly cooked properly. One of our party had an allergy and they were happy to accommodate it with preparing an alternative gravy. The place is not going to blow your socks off but if you want to go and support a nicely local pub that is probably struggling during tier 2 times and represents very good value for money, with friendly and adaptable service, head on down.

An old style pub with low ceilings, a proper bar, with a good selection of Ales and modern beers. Simple tables in one bar and more fancy ones in the larger bar.Still has some old charm about it, even though they have decorated it. NO gamble machines, or loud music. It was busy but not over busy, the food was pub like but good, with all food freshly made to order and proper good. Its is not classy or a place for cuddly romantic couples, but good honest stuff. The staff were good, the large Irish landlord was fun and knowledgeable, the barmaid was also fun and helpful, polite, and hard working. The toilets are fine but not big but then neither is the pub. There is some outside seating as well, but no parking so use the roads nearby of which there are plenty. An easy short walk from the station, in fact its in station road, just by a road bridge over the railway.Suitable for all ages, and at present fully COVID capable, which detracts a bit from its charm. A good locals local with a smile for non locals. Well priced.

We came here for Doombar beer as the sign's outside say however they're was no Doombar we had some sides and they were very tasty. I was surprised.

Came here many years ago and the grub was lovely! Decided to give it a go based on the reviews but sadly the food was really nothing special. Sweet place and great location but desperatly needs some TLC...

Today I have experienced discrimination from the staff and the land lady. I was refused service for no valid reason or explanation to why. The bar man firstly greeted a group of three of us, there after refused us service. I asked the bar tender for an explanation to why and replied he doesn’t know. How can you know we are not to be served and yet have no reason to why. I have been to this pub on two occasions before today and have only had one pint of beer each visit. We have never caused any trouble before or been given any warnings. I am very sure we got refused Due to us wearing work clothes and boots. As we had been working locally.

Lovely little traditional local pub and just had a quick renovation, which has brightened it up and made it feel more welcoming. The best pint of Guinness without a doubt in the area, reasonable bar snacks and a wonderful kitchen with a hearty food menu.

I went here ages ago and it was really nice. Plus I had three cute doggos under my table. Was perfect. People were nice. One elderly Welsh guy has some stories about the War and was singing for the pub

Called at about midday on Wednesday, place was pleasantly almost empty. Two nice bars which look to have been refurbished. Pleasant barman, clean toilets. We had a seafood sandwich, a club sandwich and some onion rings with soft drinks. Nice freshly made sandwiches and lovely home made onion rings, much better than the frozen variety. Pleasant background music. Good value, we hope to return.

This public house smells of damp and mould. Much better years ago when it was an important local meeting place for social and business meetings.

Ordered roast waited nearly an hour. Then when it arrived it was cold. No one seemed to care and it wasn't that busy. Ate my dinner as I was so hungary but it was not worth the wait.

Finally managed to get here, seems nice with a nice beer garden and some good ales on tap. Gets busy so seating outside goes quickly.

Not bad for a local pub. Very popular with families, decent-ish food. Bit overpriced drinks -wise.

Wonderful old pub with excellent service.

We regularly come here for an evening drink and although the beer and the cider are good, for the prices they charge the pub is shabby and unkempt. Came in on a Sunday evening and we were the only customers except one other guy and the floor was littered with straws and beer mats, and there were used tissues on the seats of the adjacent tables and the floor was sticky and the place generally grubby. It was as though no one had cleaned up after lunch. The barman was busy chatting to a woman around the corner and wasn’t that chatty to us. It’s a shame as this place used to be a lively place with a bit of atmosphere.

It's a cosy pub and is always well supported by locals. A few tables, an open fire, a television with sport on and a lovely outdoor area for the summer. I enjoy going there with friends.

Came here for the tw band, small pub staff were friendly, band were very good,usual pub prices.close to station the pub was busy got served quite quick.

we popped in here a couple of months ago for a drink and asked whether they did Sunday Lunch as we were looking for another choice. We have since been back to eat twice the first time I had chicken which was lovely and moist with lots of veg and great roast potatoes. Today I had the port which was absolutely wonderful, the drinks are reasonable priced and all the bar staff are very friendly.
