Great cafe and one I love, as well as the family who run it, but sadly not learning from previous issues raised. Ordered poached eggs on toast yesterday to get 3 overcooked rubbery eggs. Not for the first time, sadly. Didn't eat them and couldn’t be bothered sending them back. Why the server let them get to the table is beyond me. Not the family breakfast experience I wanted. Refunded the breakfast but not the point. Went for breakfast this morning instead to another local cafe. Perfectly cooked eggs!

Beautiful place, one of my favourites in Edinburgh, the service was excellent, the coffee was very good and the sweets were wonderful. ☕️❤️

Been going there regularly 4 years, but has been going downhill for the last few months. I never get the water I always ask for, twice they have forgotten my food, and they gave my friend the wrong thing. Once My pancakes tasted of salmon ( my friend had salmon) I couldn't eat it, a case of not washing hands. Staff also Don't wear gloves when preparing food, I see this every week, at the front counter. Portion sizes have decreased significantly and they don't use ingredients as written on menus. There's no longer sourdough in eggs on shore and there's no Nutella, just cheap chocolate spread. Disappointed

Really enjoyed the coffee it was just right. Sometimes I find coffee bitter but had a good flavour and not bitter at all. Also liked the decoration on my cappuccino. Shame the brunches did not all come out together, we were a party of 4 and 1 had to wait for ages, not sure why. Slow in clearing away dirty dishes. Enjoyed the haggis which was very tasty. Eggs overcooked. Would go back for the coffee. The cakes looked nice as well but did not try these.

I had a wonderful breakfast at Rock Salt Cafe. The food was delicious, and the coffee was simply outstanding. A special shoutout to the barista, Eray, for making my morning perfect with their skillful brew! Highly recommend!

This was a super find! Excellent choice of Menu items to suit everyone, with cuisine from different nationalities too. Everything was freshly made, staff were friendly, service was excellent and value for money too. Daughter had a baked potato and I've never seen one so big, and then it came with loads of sides too. Toasted ciabbatta were delicious. Bustling place with busy take away trade too. Toilets spotless. Would definitely go again.

Friendly and welcoming staff, seated at our table and was soon able to oder our food and drinks at the counter. We both went for the avocado, chilli oil and bacon on toast, which was delightful !! Would recommend to family and friends

I visit friends in Leith a couple of times a year and always try and make time for brunch here. There’s always a warm welcome and friendly efficient servers. It’s difficult to decide what to have as the menu choices cover all bases but I settled on a veggie brekkie. The food is well cooked and delicious. The coffee nice and strong. See you next time.

Amazing experience at Rocksalt cafe. We spent the weekend visiting Edinburgh and ventured out for breakfast. We popped into the city and so glad we stumbled across this place. The full brekky & bacon/avocado on toast was fantastic. My partner took away a Biscoff millionaire shortbread and she said it was one of the best things she’s ever tasted. Would thoroughly recommend.

A fantastic cafe with delicious freshly made food. Can be a little cold in the winter so sit away from the door if you can but the warm welcome and service you receive from the staff will keep you cosy. Don’t leave without trying their traybakes and cakes, perfect with a pot of tea.

Lovely brunch, great food and really friendly staff. We had a Turkish breakfast, a full breakfast, halloumi and avocado toast and pancakes so tried a good variety and they were all delicious! Nice hot chocolates as well!

Do !NOT! go here if you are GF. Myself and my partner came for breakfast this morning as we were looking for a new place to go and I saw online that they have lots of gluten free options. Came in for a table for 2 and I immediately asked when I came in that I have a Gluten allergy and asked what gluten free options they offer. Got served by a lady with red hair who was very helpful and explained me through all of the gluten free options they offer. Myself and my partner both order the full breakfast, mine made gluten free and his regular. They both came out by a different server not long after and looked completely identical. Mine had on it Haggis, Black Pudding, Potato Scone and Sausages which most of the time all have gluten in them. Sausages are very easy to get gluten free but it is extremely rare that you get Haggis, Black Pudding and Potato Scone gluten free. I asked the man if they are definitely gluten free as I have an allergy and just asked him to double check. He went to the kitchen and came back and said the potato scone has gluten, just took it off with his hands, and then said it’s fine now. I said to him to please double check if the haggis and black pudding are gluten free and to please have a new plate or order something else as the potato scone was right on top in the middle of the plate so had been touching everything else. He took the potato scone away and said that the haggis package doesn’t say so it should be fine. I asked for a replacement without the scone haggis and black pudding and he said that my current plate I had should be fine because he took the scone off. At this point I didn’t feel safe eating here at all so I just asked to cancel my order and went somewhere else. My partners regular breakfast was great but 100% won’t be back with me telling them I have a gluten allergy and them giving me gluten, and just picking stuff off the plate with their bare hands

It an amazing place with great food and the service was just too good. The staff are lovely and very friendly. I go there nearly 2 times a week and recommend to anyone in Edinburgh to go there to eat. You will not be disappointed!

Outstanding food! We were staying around the corner and decided to pop in as it was quiet and we had time to kill before our going to the Royal Yacht. Brilliant decision! I had an awesome almond croissant and delicious coffee to start the day. Others had sausage and black pudding rolls which they raved about! So good the 5 of us went back the following morning for brunch. Again faultless. Burgers, breakfasts, avo and salmon on toast - everyone very happy. Excellent menu choices. We left around noon and it was full. Anyone visiting Leith should consider this place. Opposite the Shore tram stop.

Poor service. 3 of our meals arrived after my husband had finished his. We had to ask 3 staff where ours was as each time no one came back to update us. The chef finally came out half an hour later than my husbands with our food. No apology and when I asked what had happened we were told there was a mix up and my husbands shouldn’t have been brought out so soon which is odd as he had warm food. Given four tables who orders after us all had their food before us meant this reason didn’t land well. Mistakes happen which is understandable but an update and apology is always preferable in these situations and standard customer service. Apology came at the till at the end but was too late. It is a shame as the food was really really lovely.

People need to stop going to our favourite cafe, why cause its sooooo busy. Amazing food, drinks, staff are friendly and place is always clean and tidy. So please stay away so we can get a table 💗😎

Popped in to grab a wrap for lunch, always loved this place. Was disappointing service. The young girl behind the counter was on her phone and told me to wait while she finished her message, then she proceeded to make my wrap with her bare hands that she had just been touching her phone with. Super unhygienic, not impressive.

Such a delightful cafe with wonderful decor, spacing and staff - the ambience alone is worth a visit. Let’s talk food - the homemade cakes are visually pleasing and of the many we tried in our stay in Edinburgh, they were freshly baked with perfect textures and flavours - my goodness, they are good! Now, breakfast/brunch - talk about presentation - wow! It was 5* plated - it was colourful - it was plentiful - it was filling! Halloumi and avocado, grilled chicken and avocado and eggs florentine were 3 dishes we selected during one visit and they did not disappoint- in fact, we were discussing how the price range could be more - the staff are so humble that they respect and value their customers. It is a cafe worth travelling for! We look forward to returning for lunch, supper and midnight feast? Thank you for a pleasant experience :)

Have been to this cafe during the week and enjoyed great coffee and good food in general. After my experience today I would suggest avoiding Saturdays. 30 minutes wait to be served, same for the bill. There doesn’t seem to be any system in place for who gets served next. It’s a shame as the food is rather good.

... The, however, comes into play with regards Covid and regulations. There is ZERO practice of social distancing going on in this place. Too many tables with people sitting on top of each other. Customers are less than 1m apart. The food is good. The staff are great. But please, keep your customers safe and adhere to the Covid rules.

¡Qué hermoso lugar! Gran selección de comida y el café es muy sabroso. Personal muy muy amable. Agradable y limpio, tocando jazz, ¿qué más se puede pedir? ! Pasamos por un bocado rápido y quedamos muy impresionados: la comida no solo era deliciosa, sino que la tostada de avo se había presentado muy bien en el plato. Solo para decir que he estado yendo aquí por algunos años y ahora estoy realmente decepcionado con el lugar. Hoy, por accidente, uno de los empleados dejó caer la sopa en el suelo y también sobre mí (mis botas de gamuza, pantalones, bolso y chaqueta). Aunque fue un error genuino que inicialmente no me molestó, ella trató de sacarme del camino para poder limpiar, pero ni siquiera me preguntó si necesitaba algo para quitarme la sopa de la ropa. No se ofreció ayuda, ni toalla ni tela para poder limpiar mi ropa / zapatos. Me dijeron que me sentara en otro lado. Estoy MUY MUY decepcionado por esta falta total de servicio al cliente y hubo un total desprecio por mis cosas. Tuve que ir al baño e intentar usar pañuelos para quitar la sopa. Es seguro decir que mis nuevas botas ahora están completamente arruinadas. Me negué a pagar porque necesito ver si es posible que una tintorería los clasifique, aunque dudo mucho que esto sea posible.No me molestaría en absoluto si al menos se hubieran ofrecido a ayudar de alguna manera (o incluso me hubieran ofrecido un café de cortesía, dada la frecuencia con la que voy allí, esto es probablemente lo menos que podrían hacer), pero estaban más interesados en el piso que ayudar al cliente. Lamentablemente, después de muchos años, debido a esto, no volveré otra vez. Realmente decepcionante ya que siempre estoy dispuesto a apoyar a las empresas locales.

Have been a few times and no issues with food, it's tasty and good value. However the service from staff has always been pretty slow, lot of staff just standing around. Could understand if they were busy but I've never been immediately served even when no other customers around. Or even served within a couple of minutes. I gave it a try 3 or maybe 4 times, different times of the day and always got same level of service. So I won't be returning.

The food is always tasty but the portions (much like the service) are hit or miss. My partner had a wrap and I had Borek - described as spinach and feta filo served with tzatziki and salad. What came is a small thinly filled (but tasty) pastry with a teaspoon of coleslaw and just 1 piece of rocket. I asked the waiter about tzatziki he said ' yes' but didnt return. Very disappointing especially because tzatziki is my favourite and when I went in to pay there was a big bowl in the chill cabinet mocking me :-( . Needless to say lunch didn't fill me up and was not worth the money.However, I did say to the gentleman as we were paying and he kindly took a small amount off the bill so I will definitely give them another chance. (If you want to avoid the poor service you can at least get the cakes to go and they are delicious!)

El servicio era normal (aunque el caballero que nos atendió tenía 1 auricular en la oreja y parecía preocupado).Esperaba algo mejor del café dada la información sobre Union Coffee mostrada en todo el café, pero mi americano negro llegó sin crema. Esta fue una experiencia promedio de café, pero esperaba mucho más del personal y el café.
