Stayed nearby - what a find - very helpful staff and lovely selection of healthy food and drinks. Make the effort to visit if you are in the location and the huge benefit of being next to a cycle shop

Brilliant find during our few days in Poole, staying at the harbour! Found this by chance, but ticked all our boxes for a family lunch - dog friendly, vegan options for lactose intolerant teen and good coffee!Loved the menu - between us we tried a wrap, the soup and the amazing avocado/halloumi/tomato open toastie. Good service, and felt safe yet normal during these covid times. In fact we were so impressed, the teenagers insisted we returned for breakfast the next day. Another fantastic set of food - and the service was even better. One lady in particular was so welcoming and friendly. We just wish we had this gem near us at home!

3 of us ate lunch here today as we were unable to complete cycling the Poole Harbour Trail as the ferry wasn’t working. We didn’t realise this was a cycling themed cafe until we saw all the railings with locks on outside. You choose to use a lock and pop inside to borrow the corresponding key - great idea I wish more places adopted. The menu is very fairly priced and lots of veggie and vegan and gluten free options. Husband said breakfast burrito was one of the best things he’d ever tasted. I enjoyed my Buddha bowl and son has haloumi and avacado salad and a smoothie and coffee and walnut cake. Everything was delicious and served with a smile. 2 coffees as well added up to £34. There’s cycle stuff everywhere as they hire bikes and there’s a cycle shop attached to the cafe too. We liked the sporty atmosphere a lot and there were children’s toys and a play area too. Very relaxed and a lot of fun, I’ll definitely go back.

Popped in while passing, ordered coffee and croissant but that took 10mins for my order to be taken. Sat down with the croissant and waited for the coffee. After a good 5 mins I enquired about the coffee, was advised I was in a queue and there would be a wait! No apology. Sat and waited for a good 5 more minutes then joined a queue to ask for my money back, by which time the coffee was on it's way to the table! Not good customer service. Advise customers of waiting time when ordering would be better. The guy at the coffee machine should have focused on the ordered hot beverages instead of taking food to tables and clearing dirty plates. There were plenty of staff available who could have assisted to eliminate any queues. Not a good experience.

If you fancy somewhere different from a standard cafe, surrounded by people shovelling in huge cakes and shooting up on insulin, this is it. You will be surrounded by fit healthy happy dedicated people. The screen will be playing footage of cycling, There will be cycling magazines and clothing everywhere. People buy enough bikes here for them to have have expanded the shop recently. They run regular bike rides, There is a real sense of community.

We decided to pop in for lunch before our beach walk. And I wasn’t disappointed, the food is fairly priced and their chicken ceaser salad was the yummiest thing I’ve had in a while (so please don’t change it) The decor is nice and the staff were friendly, and I always like a dog friendly restaurant. My only negative would be the tables, there are many but there is room for more. I’d suggest another big table for larger groups of people. Also they only had stools, being 6 months pregnant is was the most comfortable, so I would suggest some other chairs with backs.

Dropped in a while back, one weekend morning with my kids. Place was empty, and I ordered a black coffee plus a croissant each for my kids. (They drank water.) Paid at the counter was told to take a seat. The coffee turned up after a couple of minutes. Ten minutes later - no croissants. The server admitted she 'forgot'. Forgot? We were the only customers in the damn place. And the coffee was undrinkable. How can such a simple thing go so badly wrong? I know that ineptitude is an integral part of the Poole coffee shop scene, but this event saw to it that I'm not going to return.

After going to Rockets and Rascals in Plymouth I was really excited to visit here, but this place is a world apart (in a very bad way). The cups all had lipstick on them, and 'Martyn Hoyle' (according to the receipt) was very cold and did not seem to want to sell us anything let alone talk to us, in fact the dog was the only friendly welcome we received in the shop/cafe. The place was not busy so I don't see why the service was so bad and to top it off the toilet was out of service. Bike fans beware!!!

I came to get a coffee and a snack, they had both of these items on the menu. But they were a hearty price indeed. I walked down the road to the other coffee shop, but they were closing, so I came back here and bought a coffee. I've cycled past this establishment on my daily commute for months without realising it was even there due to its poor signage. I recently discovered it having read the article in the Daily Echo and excitedly stopped in on my way home hoping to find a new non-chain coffee / cycling experience. Unfortunately my visit lasted no longer than 3 minutes. I received no welcome and found it hard to distinguish if any of the 2 people in there where members of staff or customers (they were both sitting on the sofa talking to each other). The shop section was also un-staffed. I would recommend continuing to use the coffee man outside Tesco Metro in Lilliput, at least he understands basic customer service and more importantly you can actually buy a cup of coffee!

I am visiting the area from a overseas and have been struggling to find a good consistent individually owned and operated (not the likes of Starbucks etc) coffee shop. Rockets and Rascals have by far the best coffee in town. There isn't a huge selection of food but the 'Open Greek sandwich' I had was delish!!! If I could give no stars I would. On Saturday, we visited The Bricklayers for drinks around 4 PM. Although the establishment was busy, we managed to find an empty table. While half of our group was ordering drinks at the bar, a woman approached and placed a reserved sign on our table without acknowledging us. When my daughter pointed out that the table was free when we arrived, the woman dismissed her comment and insisted it was reserved. When she returned a third time to ask us to leave, despite there still being half an hour until the reservation, her demeanour was once again discourteous. She addressed my young nephew, implying we needed to vacate. I felt it necessary to address her directly, emphasizing that she should speak to the adults at the table and that her approach was unprofessional and rude. Unfortunately, instead of addressing my concerns, she repeated my words in a condescending manner and attempted to walk away. When I inquired about her name, she identified herself as Abbie and claimed to be the manager, which only heightened my disappointment as I believe a manager should exemplify exceptional customer service. As living local to the area, we wanted to give The Bricklayers another chance, despite our previous experiences with unprofessional staff. After this incident, we decided to visit the newly opened Flamingos. Callum, who I believe is either the host or manager there, greeted us warmly and explained that they were fully booked. He expressed regret that he couldn’t accommodate us and invited us to return another time, which was a refreshing contrast to our earlier experience. Ultimately, we chose to enjoy our evening at the Dancing Moose, where the staff, despite being fully booked, warmly welcomed us at the bar, providing excellent service and delightful cocktails. Regrettably, this unfortunate encounter at The Bricklayers led us to reconsider our patronage, resulting in a loss of potential revenue of over £300. After investing significantly in refurbishing the space, which now looks quite appealing, we have unfortunately had an unsatisfactory experience with one manager. As a result, I cannot say we would consider returning.
