Our experience here was lovely, we were greeted by a very friendly girl who seated us. She wore a mask throughout and was continuously hand sanitising. We felt realy safe. The music and atmosphere was warm & relaxing and food was delicious too. We had the Chicken, Bacon, Brie & Potato salad which was really nice! The Pulled Pork Burger with curley fries and hot beef sandwich with homemade chunky chips. The menu was good and suited all our needs. They also do great cocktails! And 241

This must be the worst behaved place during covid19.Upon our arrival we have witnessed one of the customers sitting at the bar chatting to waitress with no face covering. That should not happened.Tables were dressed with knives and forks already and they weren’t replaced, which is a big no no. Menus were sticky and dirty. While we waited for our food another staff member came out to chat with the guy who sat at the bar again without any covering.At this point I hoped at least food will be ok but no, we’ve been served the worst burgers ever. Bland patties which were falling apart served with lettuce and cheese only? I always thought classic burger comes with pickles, onions, tomatoes and some kind of sauce but it’s not the case in this place. Cheap meat and that’s pretty much what you get.When we asked for a bill our waitress had her mate coming over our table to hug her.Seriously? You are serving food and allow your friends to come in a close contact while you working. Wow, that’s extra responsible. Now I begin to understand why hospitality take so much blame for an infection rates.When we asked why she allows people to sit by the bar she said “you are allowed when it’s quiet”Whoever runs this place doesn’t have any respect for customers. Please educate your staff and obey the rules for your future clients. We won’t be back.

Staff are rude! We were 5 minutes late to our booking in which we were greeted with a rude comment on our timing even tho we rang! the service was shocking and We waited at the bar for 15 minutes for a drink! WILL NOT RETURN

Absolutely vile, booked a table sat for 20 mins, went to bar waited another 20mins for a drink to be served by youths, full of underage and pensioners, bad combo.

It took an hour and 10 minutes before we received our food. They had nothing we had asked for avaliable. The 'chibatta bread and cheese' was four slices of frozen garlic baguette that you get from a supermarket. Burgers were also poor. Wouldn't accept tastecard discount. They were also turning everyone away saying they were full when 70% of the tables were empty. Even with a 50% discount it was not worth our time or money

Went to Rock Cafe with 5 colleagues this week, fish and chips were lovely and good value, meat and potato pie was huge and once again lovely, steak cooked well but disappointed that it came with only a very small salad garnish and a few chips, three of us had the jack daniels chicken burger, only a small smear of sauce which was not flavoured with jack daniels and they were not burgers but small chicken fillets which were a little overcooked. Will not return and sadly would not recommend even though young lady behind the bar was great and the atmosphere was great

Lovely food and service nothing too much just ask and they will assist. A big shout out to the amazing bar staff Charlie a credit to the place. 😬😬

The food is freshly cooked and is very tasty. I’ve had numerous items on the menu and each time it has been really nice and the portion size is large. The service has always been very good.

Having had a family wedding reception there poor bar staff don't no what they r doing ran out of fosters d j not very professional and to top it all off we were promised halal food 4 some of our family and to our horror they brought out pigs in blankets totally disprectfull the words from the manager was very rude and arrogant he said well it won't hurt them totally disgusted with his comments drinks a different price from the bar downstairs no one to manage the door people comming up from the bar below who were not invited never again avoid

We had our wedding reception upstairs in the function room of the rock cafe We requested that our buffet was done with halal meat unfortunately pigs in blankets was supplied making my muslin guests question if the rest of the meat was halalDrinks were more expensive in the function room and cheaper at the main bar downstairs There was nothing to stop uninvited people coming up to your party helping themselves to food and approaching guests at the bar When we spoke to the manager regarding our concerns his response was rude and his attitude to the halal food was well if they ate any it would not harm them it’s about respecting my family’s religion However I did have four separate close family members who were going to book there upcoming celebrations with this establishment due to where it’s located due to the concerns we raised they have decided to take there business elsewhere which I fully agree with that decision I will not be recommending Rock Cafe to anyone

I don't generally do reviews but here goes. I don't know why this place isn't packed out. The homemade food is awesome. We had a normal chilli beef nacho starter, don't get the sharer for two, we learnt from the second that it is enormous and leaves you struggling with your main course, there delicious. My wife had chicken and pesto wrapped in Parma Ham with hadcut chips and I had homemade Meat & Potato pie with hand cut chips and minted peas. This is our third time at the Rock Cafe and the service is second to none, the food is top class and it's proper homemade food. Thanks to all the staff for your excellent service, the gorgeous food and a top quality dining experience, yum yum, we'll back next time we are in Huddersfield.

Excellent venue for live music, a variety of acts on different days, fabulous function room for parties etc, lovely food and plenty of drinks options and offers too

First time visiting this place after not been to Huddersfield in quite a while. Service very attentive even if order was delivered slightly wrong. Wasn’t worth mentioning the mistake. Hot beef sandwich described as delicious, hot god was in every way exceptional. Decor somewhat dated and obviously a bar to a bigger nighttime venue. Not put off at all would definitely return if in the area

The wait for the food 40 minutes totally unacceptable. The place was not busy . We just ordered burgers for goodness sake. Over 40 minutes what did they gave to ho catch the cow.

I have taken a group of my workmates for lunch today as I retired from work yesterday.Everyone enjoyed the food they ordered which was lovely and hot when it arrived at our table,The drinks were really reasonable for a town centre pub.The overall bill was much cheaper than I had anticipated.We are having our office christmas party there.I will look forward to it.

Upstairs, facing the Art Deco Library, is a restaurant that is easy, friendly and very cheap on Fridays and Monday's. A great place to relax at the end of a busy week.

I hadn't been here for a while so was very disappointed to find that what has been a good place for lunch in the past has really gone downhill to the point where I shall not return. I had hot beef sandwich and chips which was served as cold not very much beef in a very dry roll. However compared to the chips that was positively cordon bleu ! Greasy blackened wedges which left a distinct nasty taste in the mouth....inedible. The waitress was pleasant though which is about the only good thing I can say about this once popular place. No wonder it was quiet!!

We knew that they were not serving food anymore by the time we went. It was my first time in the Rock Cafe. My friends ensured me it was a really fun place to be. There were only one table that was occupied. I was saddened because it looked really rustic and cool inside, just wished more people were there for that Saturday evening. We decided we will stay, a really kind waitress came over and played the jam for my friend requested. Then later there were more people that came in. I was happy for the place. Then a tall man with dark hair came in and sat right the the booth opposite the stairs and was playing with his phone the entire time. My friend told me he managed the place. Music was loud, we were talking enjoying ourselves, everyone was talking and chilling. He walked up to me and pointed at his ears and said not too loud and walked back to his seat, smirking. We were furious my friends was shocked...that he only directed his comment at me. We all left and vowed to never go there again.

Booked upstairs at Paparazzi for my 50th party and wasn’t disappointed! Richard the owner was very easy to communicate with through emails and was very responsive answering within an hour so planning went without an hitch!

I have been in this place numerous times and the manager and staff are excellent very friendly I was there the evening of the last complaint ant the lady was so rude to the bar staff as for putting a complaint in you can not push in front of people and expect to get serviced and then try grabbing hold and scratching there arms while drunk

I regularly come to Rock Cafe along with friends during saturday night for the last 13 yrs but one saturday night when i was ordering our drinks the manager with eyeglasses was so rude , and i’m not the only one complaining about that manager behaviour some of the people that night too , she should be ashamed , shes not fit to that job , she’s not friendly at all, i tried to speak to the owner about what was happened and he just ignored me . I don’t think they know how to value their customers to this pub , I’m so disappointed !

Went with my daughter dad and step mum dads gluten free and we struggle to find him some thing to eat had a look on there web site we had chilli hot dogs mum had pesto chicken dad had the biggest gammon I have every seen food took a wile to come new chef in the kitchen lady serving was really nice Reason not 5 the gammon on a board so looking greasy get rid they really are horrible also mine and my daughters was a bit cold lots of drinks 2 deserts £60.10 overall nice and very happy about the price we will be back I even left a tip

My husband and I visited the rock cafe for the first time this week. First impressions. The deco was very tatty and run down. The ambience didn't reflect the type of restaurant. Service was slow. I also noted there were a few health and safety issues. We sat on a table with low level lighting which was not properly attached to the ceiling. The wire holding the light bulb was loose exposing some of the wiring. The back of the hanging TV screens were very very dusty. The deco was generally very lack lustre.

Awesome food accompanied with awesome staff! Very warm and welcoming atmosphere with extremely nice food, all with a reasonable price, would highly recommend

Reasonably priced good food in nice surroundings.- only downfall was we met at lunchtime, it wasn’t particularly busy but the food was very slow in arriving.

Calling for lunch on a cold miserable Monday, there were a few diners in. The food here is very good and we enjoyed ours very much. There is much to choose from, even for a picky customer. There did not appear to be much in the way of heat on, which I have never found to be the case before. Nevertheless, we enjoyed what we had, and will be calling again.

Disappointed that no Meat & potatoe pie was available! So had Yorkshire pudding with beef! The pudding was a very large one and tasted ok the chips felt like they had been warmed up not as good as last time, they are really chunky chips! Fair, the starter was spare ribs, quite tough! Will probably go again though.

This is a fantastic bar and restaurant. We had great beer, al9ng with a great meal. We had Meat and potato pie served with chunky chips! We also had a sharing platter but wish we hadn’t as I couldn’t eat all my main meal. Very tasty especially the gravy.

I asked for a G and T all I could taste was water. My drink had never seen a Gin. So for the next drink I asked for a glass of wine. Lets just say the red wine vinegar in my store cupboard tastes better that the expensive rubbish I was served. On the plus side my husband said the draught beer was ok

Burgers and homemade chips are so perfect, the place is so artistic and full of nice wall-art. Must try.

You could anyone, any age and like any style of music. However in my opinion, if you are between 25 and 99 years old, like live music from good bands and want to be in a venue that is safe and cares, go to this place! Family owned and friendly.

Usually been on a Friday after work and it has always been pretty quiet, so service has been quick. Always enjoyed the food, good value for money.

The Rock Cafe itself is nice, and I have really enjoyed attending the student nights held weekly.

We decided, whilst walking round the town, that we would go for lunch, as we had not been there for a while. On entering, there were a couple of tables taken, and it did not take us long to decide what we were having. Mushroom Burgers, chips and salad garnish take some eating and with the 40% discount on Mondays, is well worth the money. We always have the burgers here. I always like to see what everybody else is having and the food I have seen coming from the kitchen is very good. I can't think of a better place in Huddersfield.

I just had an amazingly tasty mushroom burger and drink for less than a tenner- and it was wonderful. Just what I wanted - proper fries, really lovely burger - perfect amount of cheese and brilliantly filling - service was quick and I'm really enjoying it!

When we arrived most of the tables had plates on that had not been removed or cleaned. There was a bin liner on a table and outside the kitchen door that's in the bar area was a bin and rubbish. Our server was friendly and a nice man, however the chef is rude and at one point when my son went to ask her a question she ignored him walked passed and almost barged into my daughter when going to the bar. Safe to say I won't eat there. Price was good

Decent American style bar-diner. Waiter (young slim guy) was polite and friendly, food was tasty, big portions (my pulled pork hot dog was great) and really good value for money (4 main meals, 4 drinks =40 quid). Great 80's songs playing in background, relaxed atmosphere, celeb memorabilia etc. Very enjoyable visit.

Passed by the front and was handed a flier. Went up and the place looked great. After a short wait we got someone's attention. Escorted to a table. Then we waited. Told that drinks order would be taken. Waited. Told again. Waited. After 1/2 hour, we left. No one noticed. Disappointing. Not enough staff I suppose. Why give fliers and then give no service?

Came here last night and everything was pretty average. The beef burger with cheese was greasy to the point where grease was dripping off the board it was served on and had a strange consistency. Ate most of it but wasn't anything special. The sweet and sour chicken burger was better as you could tell that the chicken was definitely fresh. Both were pretty large and served with some salad, chips and coleslaw. The chips were nice but it's hard to go wrong with chips. The guy behind he bar who also did our table service was great, very good customer service - would have mentioned his name if he had a name tag! Overall a very average experience.Won't be returning even with a 30% off student card.

Ayup! Me an't tother arf sauntered in for a bit of Sunday afternoon nosebag, she 'ad a Buffalo Burger, which was proper! Tons o' sauce. I went fut Pulled pork burger which woh smashin', make sure thi orders the 'ome cooked chips and non o' tha' French fry nonsense. Decor is reyt chilled with a kindo' cheers vibe. Staff a' sound. Nay botha at all. Top marks.

Yet again a brilliant night for our staff Christmas meal. The meal was perfect, the service first class and the whole experience a total pleasure. We tried somewhere different last year, but nothing comes close. The value is great.

Decided to call here for a pint and a pulled pork burger that's the best 1 have ever had the hand cut chips are to die for as far as we are concerned this is by far the best bar in town food bar staff all amazing a real credit to the owner

Went in about 10.40 and got a Budweiser and tonic for less than £6. Went for a repeat order about 11.40 and it cost £8.30. When questioned, the barman said the food stopped at 11.00 and the prices went up. Won't be going there again!

One of the staff was moving on to new things, so we decided on a leaving tea and drinks straight from work. As before we were not disappointed. Lucy looked after us royally. The food was delicious the service first class and the overall bill well worth it. We're definitely going to be back for our Christmas night out.

Would appear that this place is hit or miss depending which day, we visited here on a Saturday teatime from the football on the recommendation who had eaten there the day before and had good meal and service. The place had about half dozen people in and everything was being run by a young girl on her own who was very pleasant but obviously was serving drinks, taking food orders cleaning up etc etc.We ordered the Garlic Ciabatta and as we were wanting 2 she said she thought they were out and went to check and returned saying it was not available.The ciabatta was to go with two salads one being the bacon and potato and she said she thought they had run out of bacon.What gets me is I appreciate places sometimes get busy and run out of things but surely whats wrong with chef popping out to the nearby massive supermarket and buying a few items till they restock as there is little prep needed to create garlic bread and fry some bacon, but added to the fact that we were then told that they were out of the honey mustard dressing alarm bells ring what chef cant rustle up a garlic bread and make some dressing one who relies on bulk made food.When the food arrived it was good and tasty but nothing overly taxing.Would I eat there again no don't think so theres plenty other good eating place in Huddersfield

This place is excellent, lovely pint of Budweiser on tap , the cook is really nice the burgers she cooks are different gravy , and two 4 one on cocktails between 9-11 on a Friday with 30% off your bill.

We were highly delighted with the Paparazzi Suite which we hired for our recent evening reception. It was an extremely cost effective venue, in a good location and with reasonable drinks prices. There's a good sized dance floor, plenty of seating and the dj provided was excellent, playing everything we'd requested in advance and keeping the dance floor well populated. There are plenty of buffet options available and Richard the owner could not have been more approachable. All our last minute tweaks and requests as the big day approached were fully met. Based on our experience I would have no hesitation recommending this place for your function.

I attended today with my boyfriend after being handed a flyer outside the venue in Huddersfield centre, '15% off, great' as a student this is ideal. Upon arrival the girl behind the bar (Demi as stipulated by the receipt) did not appear overly enthusiastic that we had chosen this specific place to dine. The food I ordered was unavailable which caused no problem as I ordered something different, I then changed my mind and as the chef had not begun cooking she was able to change my order, this was very accommodating. Unfortunately, once the food arrived my food was wrong and my partner asked the girl and she questioned him whilst raising one eye brown with a fair amount of attitude. I accepted the meal for sake of no argument with her. The food was exceptional and would be the only reason I attended the venue again, a very well done to the chef. We also then ordered a side of garlic bread (listed in starters and sides) as we did not request this to come as a starter and alongside our meal we assumed the young girl would know we meant from the sides menu. Once we had paid and looked at our receipt, we have been charged just short of £5 for 4 small slices of garlic bread, no problem if we had had decent service. We confronted the girl and we were given a lot of attitude with a 'for god sake, here' this was after she had sat with her friend at the end of the bar and made slightly obvious comments towards our table. The only reason I would return simply would be for the food from the chef but the staff completely let the company down.

We called in for the first time on Saturday afternoon for some lunch. Excellent meal, and great value. We used our taste card, 2 pints and 2 meals for under £15! The fresh fish was brilliant! Will definitely be coming back again. The only down fall was all the steps and having to carry our son up in the pram.

We have a mixed Grill when we eat out on a friday night.Always great value for money.Good quality off meat.Love the chunky chips.

Called here for for lunch. Good range to choose from on the menu, fairly reasonable price wise and you can normally find a voucher on gourmet society or barclays rewards etc....makes it more worthwhile.Food is nice and ample portion sizesLast time we went though the staff were scraping all left over food into bins right outside the kitchen door in front of a few couples eating -a little off putting. The only other negative is that the coke taste a little "roller cola" Otherwise this is a nice place to call for a bite when in town

I have been here a few times for lunch but my husband hasn't so came here for tea had the mega bugger wow what can I say it was mega very tasty made fresh so had to wait a little longer but worth it well done will be back again

Visited Saturday night. Great music, 60s to 80s. Great for dancing. Plenty of seating, although you do get the odd person who decides to join your table.

So earlier this month my parents decided to hire out the function room for my 18th birthday party. At the original viewing of the venue, we were told no more than 10 under 18's which is understandable on a Saturday night. But on the night, the extremely rude manager turned away my cousin who had travelled from Todmorden to celebrate with us, simply because he had no ID (plus only 5 under 18's were already upstairs who were my siblings). My mum tried to talk to the manager to allow my cousin upstairs but he was having none of it, and claimed that NO under 18's were allowed at all, although we were obviously told different before we booked. A lot of my friends were turned away at the door simply because they were not dressed to the standards of the bouncers, who claimed because some were wearing hats, none of them were allowed in. My night was completely ruined by the ignorance and rudeness of some of the staff. I have made sure everybody I know is aware of this and they will definitely NOT be visiting here. Absolutely disgusting treatment and made my birthday a day to remember for all of the WRONG reasons.

Omg I words carnt describe these guys there just amazing I've been drinking in the rock for years they are all so pleasant the service is fast no matter how busy they are I'm never stood waiting .. The bouncers are lovely and polite . And get this I lost my earring that was a gift to me n really meant a lot I was gutted I told the barman n asked him if he found it would he ring me . Low and be hold I got a txt the next day they had found it omg ! Really restores my faith in humanity life's not that bad is it and if it is get down to this place you'll soon change your mind . High five guys your all stars.x

Possibly one of the best places for lunch in Huddersfield. I'm not usually a fan of burgers but I saw one being served to somebody else and gave it a go and I was not disappointed. Great portion sizes, good quality meat and tasty chips and onion rings. Three of us went and all enjoyed our food, and felt it was reasonably priced too. The place itself could do with a bit of money investing to modernise it and brighten it up, but if all you're bothered about is a nice social environment with good food then this is a brilliant option.

I've been regularly going to the Rock Cafe at the weekends for a few years now, with my lads also when they come to visit me. I always shared the Sunday gig adverts on facebook in support of what I thought was a good club and night out. For some reason this Saturday the arrogant manager decided only over 25s were allowed. He said under 25s are never allowed on a Saturday night we is completely untrue. He should review the pictures they have taken of me and my lads which they have posted on Facebook. Never have they caused trouble. Shame on you for spoiling my 46th birthday night out as we were all looking forward to it!!! I will not be supporting your club again !

i have been to rock cafe on a night out and went in time for the 241 cocktails which is wel worth the money they are made fresh and taste spot on. i also have been in during the week for lunch and the food was really nice it was pretty quite when we went in but the you g lad who served us was so polite and helpful will defiantly be returning

A dual 18th and 21st birthday in the top floor function room. It wasn't the cleanest of places but the staff were friendly and polite - apart from a really unhelpful, arrogant and quite simply 'RUDE' Manager who possibly counts as the most unpleasant person possible to be 'public facing'.Notwithstanding, the function room was a good size for such a party albeit not at all disabled friendly. Sadly the party was without food as the Manager hadn't read their own website about being flexible and able to adapt food to suit the customer.All in all, it was a shame that one small person could have such a negative impact upon what would otherwise be a pretty good venue.

The burgers here are great value for money as well as being enormous with the accompanying salad, coleslaw and chips if you are really hungry. This time we had the mushroom burgers, with plenty of mushrooms and accompanied by Monterey Jack cheese, this is a match made in heaven. I could eat the mushroom burgers every time we go there. They are fabulous, but if you are thinking of having a dessert, like we did, we declined because we felt that we wouldn't be able to manage it all. The young lad who worked behind the bar the last two times we were there is first-class. His demeanour is fantastic and his manners and courtesy are perfect. He is a real credit to this establishment as nothing is too much trouble for him. I hope he is still there the next time we are there.

Cheep and cheerful meals. I really enjoyed the mixed grill. Pleasant enough surroundings and the staff are rely friendly.

We called on the spur of the moment as we had not been for over a year. It was not busy when we arrived, but we did have to wait for the food to arrive. Then again, it is freshly cooked. We had the burger with pulled pork, chorizo sausage and cheese with side salad and chips (Spanish burger it was called). The portions are huge, as I can remember they were when we last came. Value for money as well. As the diner is more or less on a side street, many people probably would not notice and walk straight past. We were going to try the Sunday lunch there: it won't be long before we come again.

Been to rock cafe quite a few times and always love the food and great value for money. On this occasion I ordered this amazing pulled pork burger with home made chips was the best I've ever had would definitely recommend trying this. I took my 2 year old daughter to she had the fajitas she loved them and even the children's portions a huge. Children's meals come with a drink and an ice cream to so kept her happy. Desert I ordered the home made chocolate brownies and ice cream also delicious. The staff are lovely to and always friendly, we always have a great time when we go.

We have eaten at Rock Cafe on several occasions now and have never been disappointed. The menu is varied from American style burgers to lighter salad options. All the food is cooked to order and Lucy the head chef always makes sure you receive a huge portion. I have a wheat allergy and they will always cater for my needs and go the extra mile to make sure I'm happy. You really cannot beat the food and service. Its a great place and we'll worth a visit.

I have to agree with the previous reviewer's comment the food is very good, and very well cooked. My husband had the Sunday lunch - lots of Roast Beef and lovely Yorkshire Pudding, 3 veg and roast potatoes and mash...could not fault it.

The stairway to great food. The food was gorgeous, large portions and cooked to perfection. The mega burger was a mountain of chicken, burger , bacon and cheese freshly prepared with salad , coleslaw, chips and onion rings. The pulled pork was ace. I had the hot beef sandwich which was great, very tasty. My husband had the mushroom burger( not a veggie burger). the service and staff was excellent. The wraps looked great. They looked popular with the other customers. Great value and fun place. The décor is American theme . I recommend If you are in Huddersfield it is worth a visit.

The room upstairs, paparazzi, is a fantastic place to have a party. There is good choice of buffet menus. The food is great and the wraps, instead of sandwiches, makes a nice change.The venue comes with DJ and he will play whatever music you like. There are a lot of stairs, but once your Aunt gets to the top she is fine for the evening!

Here with friends, we all had different and every meal was fantastic. Great service, portions are massive but you can even take it home. We would recommend to everyone, we'll definitely be back soon

Went here for a bite to eat after my daughters graduation and I have to say one of the best places I have ever had the pleasure in eating in.From the second you enter the staff are so friendly and couldn't do enough for you.The service was excellent and speedy..The chef prepared the most gorgeous food and the presentation was 5 star.I have eaten in restaurants that are double the price and not one step near this little hidden gem..Even got lovely banter from the locals inside..Great experience and would highly recommend I will definitely be back..Home made chips beautiful ...Well done to the staff and management...

Went there for lunch with my family when they were visiting me after receiving a money off voucher on the street outside. After 20 mins wait for the waiter to take our orders we regretted coming in.Another 40 mins later and we finally got our food. It was all great but the portions were way too big. We asked for a small glass for my 18month old niece and instead we got a free Capri so that was a nice gesture.The place was nearly empty and I wish I listened to my friends when they mentioned the bad service there. We wasted over an hour and a half on lunch which could have been spent better with family I don't see so often.

Rock Cafe for me is one of the places you go when you want good music and a good atmosphere on a Friday or Saturday night, I always have a good time when I visit of an evening, never in a million years did I imagine they would do such good food in the day time, all home made as well. A pleasant atmosphere and great food, well worth a visit. Food prices are very reasonable and they offer a kids menu for £3.95 including a drink and ice cream. Another great food place to add to the list in Huddersfield.

Me and my daughters go to the Rock on a regular basis! We absolutely love the food, and the staff are all great! Would definately recommend because they cater for everyone!!

I've eaten here before and the food is always decent and well priced but the wait from ordering to eating seems to get longer each time. We went in on our dinner hour this time, the place had a handful of people in so we presumed we wouldn't have much of a wait. We picked a table and almost straight away the girl behind the bar came and gave us a menu and took a drinks order - 5 minutes later she also took a good order.Almost 45 minutes later we were still waiting and as one of us was due back at work we had to leave and settle for a rather unsatisfying Greggs sandwich.The woman behind the bar who served us when we came in was very apologetic and I really can't fault her as she did a great job, the kitchen, however, really really need to pull their finger out as it seems a bit pointless having someone stood in the street outside trying to get people on their lunch breaks to come in when it's taking almost an hour to serve them.

Popped into the Rock cafe for an impromptu early tea, lovely waiting staff greeted us and asked if we were eating & where we would like to sit, she got a high chair for our little one almost straight away. Recommended some new j2o they had and brought food menus over really promptly. I was expecting big standard pub food but I was so surprised! The sharing platter was massive as were the main courses! I had a chicken, bacon and guacamole burger & hubby had the mega burger - needless to say he couldn't finish it! The waitress brought us extra sauces, asked how everything was & was really good with our little girl who has literally thrown most of her dinner on the floor! Really can't go wrong for the price, I'll definitely go there again, 4 hours later I'm still full!

Brilliant meal great value........again. Would recommend early Friday evening to anyone in huddersfield.

I absolutley love eating there i havent got one bad word for this place. great staff they will always make sure im seated straight away with a menu in my hand and they're all so polite. And for the food well what can i say its amazing!! You dont get much places with this rustic american style food and for a great price . This is my go to place from now on nearly every week lol SHOUTOUT to the chefs for their great food keep it up and everyone needs to start going here!!!

Went in for a cheap bite - got a leaflet showing the menu and offering a discount. I'd definitely return. The pulled pork sandwich was the real deal and excellent VFM. The servers were great - helpful, friendly and on the ball - you don't always get this with young wait staff but they were all over it.

I've been a regular at this place for about two months, eating and drinking and also bringing friends and family, but tonight was the last time... I'd had three pints, and was just making conversation with the bar staff, but when I stood up to leave the dumb blonde barmaid began insulting me about everything I had said for the past hour and a half. She had a bone to pick with me because I didn't like McDonalds (obviously her favourite restaurant) so she called me a "conspiracy theorist" (??) because I don't trust their food...Unbelievable, she treated me like I was nothing, and had quite clearly judged me from the moment I walked in. And when I asked her to get the manager I finally realised why - she is his daughter. So that's why she feels she can insult every Tom, Dick and Harry who goes in there alone if she deems them not to conform to social norms. Disgusting behaviour. And it speaks volumes about the management there because he wasn't interested in my complaint, as he had heard his daughter's side first. Nepotism at it's absolute worst. I won't ever step foot in that cesspool again.

I came here this week and it is beautiful! My new favourite restaurant! Home cooked food! And a very good price! Would recommend to anyone!

Seven of us ate here recently and all enjoyed it. I had the chicken sizzler it was delicious there was a small wait but as everything is freshly cooked we didn't mind

Today was a family day in Huddersfield & we needed some where for lunch We ended up going to the rock cafe in Huddersfield You have Togo up the stairs to the bar/dinning area, where we was meet with a warm welcome from the girl who was serving & was told to pick a table & she would be over with the menu. She was promot with the menu & with a warm welcome we ordered drinks & was left you look through the menu after she came back we ordered food I had a beet root sales with goats cheese but it came with nuts & as I have a nut allergy I ask if I could have it with out & was told every thing is made fresh & would be no problem to make it with out nuts I enjoy it & would recommend it to you all & it was all helped down with a lovely pint of John Smith bitter This is one to go back to As I want to try the pulled pork that Helen had

My boyfriend and I bobbed in here before new year for a late lunch and we had been before when we had a really lovely meal so were happy to go in. We sat down and were soon greeted by a young male asking if we wanted drinks and to be fair to him he brought them over quickly and politely. The issues came when we ordered our food. We ordered the garlic bread with cheese (for the extra £1 as the young waitress pointed out); my boyfriend ordered a burger with curly fries and I ordered jacket potato with cheese and tuna. I specifically stated that I would like the cheese on first and had a laugh about it needed to melt and go all gooey. The food came and well every single order was wrong! The garlic bread had no cheese on; my jacket potato was served tuna first and my boyfriends meal came with straight cut chips. How on earth can you be so ignorant as a waitress to not listen to any of our orders sufficiently?! Our orders were corrected but the service continued to be poor. Not once did that waitress ask if our meal was ok, in fact she sat at the bar tapping away on her mobile phone and asking if she could leave work early!! Personally, I find this so extremely rude and not what you want to see or hear as a customer. When we did come to pay she didn't ask is about the meal, she didn't even make we contact or speak. No thanks, no nothing. The meal was lovely when corrected but there was a distinct lack of customer service! Not returning.

My partner and i came here for dinner on a Friday night a few weeks ago and as soon as we sat down we were greeted by a lovely Irish waitress who recommended a burger from the new menu! Although there was a bit of wait (half an hour) it was definitely worth it! portions are HUGE and everything was so fresh and tasty! My partner tried the steak and and said it was lovely too. To top it all off when we received the bill we found that we had 40% off food and drinks due to their Friday deal! All in all great service, fresh food and excellent value for money.

Came for some food - been plenty of times before in the past and been great but this time (with the new menu) we were waiting for a good 45 minutes. There was only two of us and we had ordered a ciabatta and chilli. We asked a waiter how long it was going to be and he disappeared and never came back. When the food came out it was cold. The chilli was dry and in clumps. No cutlery was brought over so I had to find my own. I asked for some mayo and never received any. Very poor.

Great value for lunch time. £7 for 2 people, panini, sandwich, jacket potatoes, serve hand cut chips, the best in Yorkshire.

I came here for lunch with a friend earlier this week and chose the 2 for 7.95 offer for bacon and cheese jacket potatoes. The food was tasty and very large portions. The service was quite slow considering that there were only a few other diners there, but worth the wait.

Have been here quite a few times for a quick lunch and catch up with friends. They do a good selection of food and a choice of paninis, jacket potatoes, sandwiches with chips and salad at a fantastic value of 2 for £7. You have a choice of homemade chips, normal chips or spiral, the spiral for some reason they charge an extra £1. Food is cooked to order so theres a little bit of a wait which is to be expected but the staff are always pleasant & polite. My only little niggle was when I took my 10 year old daughter last week I asked if there was a childrens menu. The waitress said it was fish & chips or sausage & chips. Wasn't told how much or if a drink came with the childs food, daughter ordered sausage & 1 sausage arrived with a few chips & beans at a charge of £4 plus an extra £2 for a small diet coke. I would prefer if the children could have a half portion of items off the menu.
