Stopped off for an impromptu lazy Sunday lunch and it was a joy. The staff are engaged and alert, even whisking a couple of young kids away for a quick ice-cream so their parents could eat their food. Good solid Italian food, clearly made with decent ingredients and attention to detail. They make a worthwhile Negroni as well. Would be nice if they had a decent draft lager, but that is a minor quibble. Loved it.

Ate here for the first time after hearing it was good. The pasta with ragu was just okay and under seasoned. The pasta with seafood was again average but the prawns were not cleaned. Had a glass of wine that tasted like cheap pub wine. Overall I’d recommend you spend your money somewhere else.

If you go to dulwich, you MUST come here, rocca deserves far more than a 4.2. I’ve been coming here since i was little and have always ordered the pesto pasta so, i’d highly recommend!

Scoring 4 because I am familiar with Italian food. Lovely menu! Dog friendly place and staff. But staff must ensure to sanitise and clean their hands after touching animals before continuing to serve food. I saw this and decided not to order desserts anymore after we finished our main meal.

This is an authentic Italian restaurant, and all of the pasta dishes are excellent. The pizza, etc., is not so good.

We had a lovely late lunch with a friend on a beautiful summers day in Dulwich Our friend enjoyed the risotto with asparagus, my wife had the linguine and I had the lamb cutlets which were great except the potatoes were over salted The profiteroles were not up to their standard as the chocolate was thick and gloopy Nice house red, Prosecco and G+T

Excellent food, lasagne was excellent and well priced at a little over £12. Good service also and nice outside seating.

We love Rocca. Have been going for years and the food is consistently brilliant and the staff are fantastic. Family friendly vibe and in the summer the outside terrace is the perfect location for an alfresco meal. Have nothing but positives to share!

The ravioli was hard, not served hot enough, the tomato pasta sauce was bland. Some of the staff were welcoming but others stand out unfriendly. This was our first visit and I can’t recommend.

I love Rocca di papa ! The cozy vibe and friendly staff make you feel right at home. The lasagna is probably the best I've ever had, and the bruschetta is fresh and full of flavor. Our server was super attentive and made great recommendations. We finished with the tiramisu, which was just perfect. I can’t wait to go back!

Nice place, decent atmosphere. These are the good things about the place. However the food was tasteless at best. We tried 4 dishes, calamari friti, the goat's chesse crostini, linguini with homemade pesto and chef's cous cous salad. Calamari tasted like I would imagine a tyre would taste . Crostini, were very sweet and the bread used was definitely not the best. The cous cous was nothing to write home about. But by far the worst were the linguni. The home made pesto was just bad. They used clove oil probably and that's was the overwhelming flavour. The tip of my tongue is even now numb, half an hour after. Tasted exactly like the clove oil you use for tooth aches. And to top it all the pistachios sprinkled on top were not fresh. We tried 4 dishes do not a very rich menu, so probably a good representation of the quality of the food in this place. I would not recommend

We ordered a Prosciutto and Pepperoni- the pizza’s are not worth the money, one missing the parmesan and one has 5 slices of pepperoni on the whole pizza. I do not recommend, overpriced and treating customers as an absolute joke. Will never order or go in person again to this place.

Only just discovered this one and it instantly became my new favourite for the Dulwich/Sydenham Hill area.

I stopped coming to Rocca many years ago as the food was not good but my son against my advice decided to go on Sunday with his wife daughter & mother in law who was visiting from the north of England, they waited 45 mins for their starters them his wife’s pasta was drowning in oil so she couldn’t eat it he had to get up from the table to order a drink as the waiters didn’t check if they needed anything & then had to ask for the table to be cleared! Abysmal service & food as they say mamma knows best so don’t go to Rocca.

OMG. Sat there with my daughter and my friend and we had lunch,wine and desserts. I’ve not eating such delicious food in a while,and the deserts… is to die for (especially the cheesecake). The service is also great,they look after you ,check on you and make sure you’ve enjoyed fully to what they have to offer. We are already planing when to come back while currently we are still sat on the table and writing this review.

Food was absolutely excellent. I work within the sector and eat at the best street food options to Michelin star restaurants and hectare here was amazing! The portions were small yet it was reasonably priced for the quality of the food. I’ll definitely be back ❤️🙏👌

Busy place, nice staff, but they forgot our mains, so we waited a lot.

Loved dining here! I tried fettuccine with salmon which was delicious and linguine with pecorino which is my favourite cheese. I also had pecorino wine with this too which was the perfect combination. The linguine included garlic prawns and the flavours were great. I like meals with a few layers of flavour. Dessert, tiramisu was like heaven. It had been a while. All in all, I enjoyed my meal and I will dine here again

Meal was good, accommodating waiter , veg and pots, instead of chips with steak, which was cooked as requested, perfect, pizza was lovely but topping could have been better chopped as too much on other pieces and would have looked more appetising, if spread more evenly. I was however shocked to see I had been charged for a pot of hot water and slice of lemon, cold tap water is offered, paying over £125.00 would have been a kind jester, not even give a complimentary drink? . Never had any rudeness from anyone service pretty good too.

Very disappointing, we asked to sit outstays it was a pleasant evening and asked if we could put a heater on, the chap that greeted us was reluctant and said the heaters were not working and encouraged us to take an inside seat , when I pressed to sit outside, the heaters were in fact working, which I found strange , the food is average , one of my party had steak and chips, the chips are frozen like you would have in a cheap pub. My daughter had an Aperol spritz which was flat, when I asked the waitress she was very grumpy and reluctantly bought a bottle of soda water to put some fizz in it. I found the waitresses quite rude and condescending and overall not a pleasant experience, it was my daughters birthday so I didn’t make a fuss but left there with absolutely no intention of ever returning.

Been here a few times and it's usually been pretty pleasant. Me and my family decided to visit the restaurant on Bank holiday Monday. - granted it was busy but the general level of attention was really poor. We were given the rum around as they were trying to seat us and then when we were eventually seated it took our waiter another 15 minutes to take our order yet alone set the table I even had to ask for water. The experience left a really bad taste in my mouth, and as much as I love the restaurant you're only as good as your last appearance. I hope you guys can learn to better manage your customers needs even through busy periodS. Some music would've really helped to cut through the babies general chitter chatter also.

Best place is Dulwich.Can get busy,but the staff are doing great.Best prosseco and the management always friendly.Rhe food is the best you can get in the area.

Very good food. And reasonably priced

As a party of 6 we were crammed onto a table that would comfortably fit 4, even though it wasn't busy when we arrived. When our food arrived (very promptly) it was difficult to fit the plates on. They were quite quick to take the order but not attentive at all once food had arrived. We had to get their attention to ask for a pizza box for leftovers and the bill. Good pizza, but very pricey. Restaurant was very noisy once it got busy with the lunchtime rush. Wouldn't recommend.

Visited with my elderly mother who needs a wheelchair to get about. Food was perfectly fine. I had pizza and mum had chicken and chips. What made it so good was the superb staff who couldn’t do enough to help, whether arranging our table for the wheelchair or helping to get to the very accessible disabled toilet or being ready to get the door when we left.

Decent Italian food, somewhat forgetful but apologetic service, buzzy family oriented atmosphere

OVERRATED - SERIOUSLY, DO NOT BOTHER. We went there today and I had a spritzer and was given no sugar lemonade in it which I didn’t ask for so there’s obviously no choice to have regular sprite. I ordered the ragu bolognese. When it came out it was a measley child’s portion at best with no more than a tablespoon of bolognese mince on the top (see photo). To top it off it was stone cold as was the side of chips. I mentioned it to the waitress who couldn’t have cared less. I left the meal and was still billed for it. Absolutely awful all round. Avoid.

Nice and cozy atmosphere. You have a simple restaurant but delicious. I particularly love simple italian restaurants like this one with a nice wine list and delicious pasta. Is not a secret the recipe for a good italian restaurant. Definitely recommend them. The staff is very fast and supportive. I love the fact when you ask for more Parmesan and just serve you a lot with a nice smile. That we just have in Italy and few restaurants here in London. Definitely we will return!!

As a local, I’ve been going here all throughout my childhood and it’s still a family favourite! They never fail to impress with their range of dishes which caters to everyone. I’m lactose intolerant, which makes it difficult to find a good pizza, however Rocca provides me with this! The staff are so friendly and the service is quick. Thank you Rocca!! ☺️💗

We stayed overnight in the beautiful, lively, village-like district of Dulwich during our five-day stay in London. During this time we had dinner three times in this nice, busy restaurant. We tried different dishes all three evenings and we wouldn't be disappointed with any of them. Everything was great, the food, the service, the speed, the attentiveness of the staff. The restaurant seems to be very busy. There may also be a lively noise level. But I think it's nice when people feel comfortable and simply live and enjoy it. It was always a nice end to strenuous days in the big city. Thanks

Usually a solid local option we have been to many times. However we got a collection on Friday there was a big shard of plastic in the carbonara and the calamari was so tough and smelt off.

Visited on Mother's Day and was underwhelmed with the experience resturant was busy, and this may have affected my service, but food tasted bland and not well seasoned

Food was just "okay", pasta slightly undercooked. The guy that looked like the manager could have been nicer. Just an "okay" experience.

Although the food is quite good, the service was not too good. The espresso was half cold. The table was not wiped after salt was sprayed from the cellar on food. I was not shown the specials board. The menu price was good considering it was in London.

We ate here on a Sunday afternoon, granted it was always going to be a busier time of the week, but it was total chaos, felt more like an airport departure terminal then a restaraunt, particularly one you would actually want to spend any time in. Terrible acoustics, large tables full of families with their mewling offspring using the floors as a playground. Probably a convenient place to go if you are a well-off yuppie living in the area, but it isn't worth going to the restaraunt otherwise. I couldn't help but feel the place felt a touch inauthentic as well; most of the kitchen staff looked South asian as opposed to Italian. Nothing wrong with that per se, but generally speaking it would be nice to go to an 'Italian' restaraunt and actually see a couple of Italians working there. The front of house staff were varied background-wise (not only South-Asian but also European) but this restaraunt only seems to be Italian in name. Service was fine, albeit robotic and without charm. Honestly, I won't be back here in a rush. It was a noisy and hectic environment with average food and service.

My favourite pizza place in London

We visited here on a Saturday lunchtime in January. It was a very busy restaurant, filled with families but still with a nice buzz. We went for mains only and it was pretty underwhelming. My pizza was a bit soggy, and felt quite stodgy. Staff were friendly but service was slow.

Friendly staff, nice place, and good sized portions. We had the house white (not great), house red (quite nice), arancini, carbonara and the regina pizza. The bill was not expensive but the food was a bit disappointing I’m afraid.

Rocca Di Papa was overall a disappointing food experience. I started with calamari that was soggy and not very flavorful. I then had a lasagna that was good, but again not exceptionally seasoned or tasty. It wasn't bad, but I don't think it quite meets the expectation one would have of a lasagna from an authentic Italian restaurant. I finished off with a chocolate cake (that was really a chocolate mousse) and this was probably the highlight of the food items. I will say the red wine I had was excellent as well and I would have shared another bottle if we had the time!

Great food and service. Always bust at Rocca as there is no reservation system and at peak time you may have to wait but it is worth it. Can be full of families and large parties but adds to the lively atmosphere. The tiramisu here is one of the best i have had. Good value and in a nice area of London

This is the place to go for great cooked pasta. Good service and no long waits. Prices are more then fair. £15-£20 pp with drinks.

Very disappointing experience While the starters and dessert were pretty good. We had prawns , calamari and goat cheese bruschetta and tiramisu( delicious ) and pana cotta ( average and too sweet ) The main dish was really tasteless and overcooked. I had mushroom / buratta ravioli in butter. Gave my meal to taste to my partner and he shared the same opinion have eaten here once before and always heard great things about the place and the food. Sadly a very disappointing experience Giving 1 star for atmosphere as were sat next to busy kitchen although there were plenty of tables free as it wasn’t busy at all.also at the back. We came with a dog so could not be sat in the front area but we saw other people with dogs being offered ar the back of the restaurant. The service was quick and really nice lady although the never came to check how the food was. Won’t be returning anytime soon.

Average at best. Had the margherita pizza, and it was very basic. Nothing too special. Others has salad (which looked decent) and pasta, but it wasn't anything too special. The wine was good.

Had a bad experience here today. The lady who I think may the be manager who was wearing a blue shirt refused to seat us as we are a family of 3. A family of 4 then arrived behind us and asked for a table and were immediately given the free table that should have been ours. The lady deliberately chose to not seat us as she didn’t want a family that’s an odd number coming in. She then told us we’d have to stand waiting in the doorway for at least 20 minutes before they’d seat us. Very poor and unfair treatment, especially from somewhere that’s supposedly family friendly. Another member of staff soon came over and was far more professional and seated us after only a very short wait. I will probably try to go somewhere else in future after our treatment by this woman. Ironically they then told us that there were delays in the kitchen as it’s was busy so I’m not sure why they were favouring larger parties. The olives are also not very good. Otherwise it is good value and decent enough if you’re served by other members of staff (we are regulars - or at least we were until today!).

Really friendly professional staff found a table for us even though we hadn’t booked Nice Prosecco and House Red by the glass There was a special of calves liver with new potatoes which was a delight but we would have ordered a green vegetable to accompany it. Our friend had lasagne Profiteroles were a nice surprise for pudding

As a family of 5 we went for my son’s birthday. On arrival the lady was pleasant and welcoming, however that soon changed when we had another waiter. Who was unwelcoming and abrupt for no apparent reason. Half of the food took an hour to arrive! Food was nice and average in our opinion, but what was disappointing for us was the unpleasant staff! I would suggest training is definitely implemented in order to maintain customers!

The pizza was a must...I wasn't very impressed with the pasta, but pizza was amazing.

This used to be one of our favourite places to eat having visited many times. I don’t know if there has been a change of management but the staff appear to have changed. Most of them unfriendly and bordering on rude. One blonde girl was terrible, never smiled or made eye contact once. I watched her interactions with others and it was the same with everyone. As much personality as a plank of wood ! We felt rushed through the meal with the desert menu arriving the minute the plates were removed , we were asked 5 times in the space of a few minutes if we wanted a dessert and seemed very put out that we wanted some time before ordering. Needless to say they won’t be getting our custom again !

Prosecco and House Red were both excellent My wife ordered Tagliolini b&w with white crab meat, chilli, garlic with wine & saffron sauce and I had Tortelloni with lobster, prawn, courgettes served with butter, sage & caper sauce Both were delicious

The restaurant was very busy at around 6pm with the family crowd, we had to wait 20mins for a table, then quiet and a lot of free tables around 7:30pm. We had the goats cheese salad, seafood risotto and seafood linguine. All were fine but I’d try something different next time. They don’t have children’s menu but do the pastas and pizza’s in children’s portions.

The staff could not do more to help you, we were here for a wedding reception and the food was excellent, specifically the bruschetta and lobster tortellini, and the staff couldn't have done more to make the day special. Highly recommended to all.

Just returning of my first meal at the Rocco with a friend, quite disappointed with both of our meals… just no flavour… We ordered Risotto alla pescadora and Bronzino con salsa verde. Good size portions, but just plain, not much to comment. When I came home and I think that I could have cooked better it’s not a good feeling, so not returning.

I had a meal here on Friday night and whilst the food was okay the service was not great. The whole thing was rushed which would not be a problem normally but they were clearly trying to get us out so they could go on time which meant we could not have a coffee because the machine had been cleaned already and we were brought the bill without us asking for it and they kept rushing us to pay. I'm sure if we had been there in the day it would have been fine but you should really be paying your staff to stay later rather than rushing the customers as cleaning up was going on the whole time we were eating.

Disappointed with my experience today. I have been 3 times now and today was my last time as I will not be returning. I am a vegetarian, have been for 10+ years so ordered a veggie pizza. I then found a slice of ham on one of the slices. I told a waiter and he said he would knock it off my bill, another waiter came over and explained it must be from the meat slicer and apologised. I accept the apology and asked for the bill. To my surprise the pizza was still on the bill and I was made to pay full price - this is bad service and as I am quite shy and look quite young I think I was taken advantage of as I am not a typical ‘complainer’.

Visit for luncheon 27/9/2023 with two friends, after Rubens exhibition at the Dulwich Picture Gallery. Excellent food and service, good ambience - very relaxed and tables well spaced from each other. The best bruschetta al pomodoro (starter) I have ever had, and a delicious lasagna al forno. Excellent prices and thus altogether very good value for money. My first visit, is definitely added to my restaurant list.

Great meal in a buzzy Saturday night atmosphere. Restaurant had a mixed clientele. Service was friendly and very quick, we lingered over our meal but if you wanted to be in and out quickly they could cater to this

Evening of 8th Sept. The wine ordered was not as described on menu - it was a completely different wine. After discussion with the water, no offer to replace or change. Evening of 11th Sept. - an unordered chicken salad arrived at the table. Asked for it to be removed. Main pasta salmon had minimal tiny pieces of salmon and no lemon of any kind in the dish. As it was a birthday celebration the bill was paid unchecked. Next day realised we had been also charged for the unordered chicken salad - not a good experience and therefore cannot recommend Rocca to anyone.

For a Tuesday it was quite lively, however when we arrived the staff could have been a bit more inviting. The restaurant itself is nice and prices are reasonable. The food portions were a good size and tasty.

After a busy day this was just the ticket, service was great, staff very helpful & friendly, food was pretty good, chicken was a little bit dry, all very tasty. Overall a good experience.

Have been coming here since they were in nappies and today we sat down and chatted and had a meal together. This restaurant is the best. Great food, great service and great value. Xx

Love Rocca Di Papa… been here many times and the food and service is always great

We had gamberoni to start with some aperol spritz, both were good. Unfortunately the service was really slow, unfriendly and lacklustre at best. We had to get up and ask for things multiple times despite the whole restaurant having a total of 8 customers, 2 of which weren’t dining. There were no check backs at all. We ate our entire main course with empty drinks glasses and no one came to see if we wanted to order more. The main course wasn’t great. The restaurant is reasonably priced but even with that in mind I wouldn’t go back. It just wasn’t a good experience.

Food not quite as good as we have remembered it from our last (pre-Covid) visit - pretty average we felt.

Excellent Italian restaurant. Very large but the service is good - friendly and efficient. Mainly pizza and pasta but my main dish of grilled lamb cutlets was delicious with really tender meat. My friends really enjoyed their pasta dishes. Would definitely go back if I was visiting Dulwich again.

We booked a table for three for lunch on Saturday. Unusually quiet and I wonder if the poor reviews are having an effect - or it might have been the rain Service got off to a slow start but was great during the meal Nice Prosecco and House Red The chicken salad was demolished by our friend while we both opted for the lamb cutlets which were excellent
