Really good Sunday lunch (excellent value, too, particularly if you don’t drink too much) The terrine, ricotta, pasta and chestnut cake were all outstanding, which shows that making each dish worthy of savouring is a good way to make a short set menu really sing,

Excellent small Italian restaurant on Bellenden Road. At lunchtime, the menu usually has a choice of 3 starters and 3 pasta dishes from which one can select either a large or small portion. In the evening they tend to add two or three main courses. On our last visit we had a hispi cabbage dish and a lamb meatball for starters followed by radiatori with marjoram pesto and ricotta and tagliatelle with an anchovy and lamb sauce. All were delicious. Artusi also has a very good mostly Italian wine list with a number of wines of each colour available by the glass. Very friendly and helpful staff.

The food is outstanding; imaginative, generous fabulously flavoured. The seasoning is spot on. I don't have a sweet tooth but... here I can make an exception. So good. And hooray for discerning menu choice. Long enough to have choice, not so long you fall asleep looking at the options. A delight!

It's always an amazing experience to book and have a Sunday lunch locally at Artusi! The quality of the ingredients is great, and the way the food is prepared and presented is impeccable. Great selection of wines too and drinks made with care and with select products (from proper Italian vermouths to other beverages). Top quality-price ratio. Great staff and service.

Food is absolutely banging, the lamb sauce a few weeks ago was one of the best pasta dishes I've eaten, wow, just wow. And they have avoided the temptation to cram in more tables, so layout and space just works a treat. Highly recommend, but book to be sure of a table.

Had been wanting to go for months and unfortunately I think there was space for improvement: both pasta options looked like pasta in bianco with bits in them, and the veggie starter could have been made tastier. The chorizo starter was good, but I think it’s mostly because it relied on the taste of the meat. The staff was pleasant but took ages to take our order and the place was not that busy, as it was a weekday evening. Would give it a second chance maybe in the future.

It's been a long time since we wanted to try Artusi, as the reviews are really good. However, the restaurant felt very cramped and claustrophobic, as it's a small dark room with waaay too many tables, so you cannot really focus on the conversation, as other people are so close to you and the staff doesn't really have any space to come and speak to you, so they're kind of doing that over your shoulder. The staff was kind, however, they didn't provide much information about food and were quite slow to offer another drink/clear the table after finishing eating. Feels like that's due to a lack of space and too many tables to serve though. The food was okay - the artichoke starter was really nice, but both mains (pasta and fish) we ordered lacked flavour and were way too salty, that was the only flavour you could taste really. Overall, it was a pretty average experience - it's not a nice or visually appealing venue but rather a black cramped room, and the food is just fine. Would be interested in trying it again in summer with a different menu, perhaps, but wouldn't recommend it at this point.

Pretty disappointed with our food at Artusi. A very limited menu which usually means the few options they do have are done to a high standard. This unfortunately wasn’t the case last night. I ordered the Pasta e Fagioli, which was literally over-cooked pasta with a tin of cannelloni beans, no sauce, no seasoning, for £17. It felt like a dish I would have put together as a uni student. Perhaps a bit overrated this one. The menu is very limited - two pasta dishes, 3 starters and 3 options on meat/fish based mains. Some of the dishes we had were nice i.e. the courgette spaghetti (very fresh and light) but the paccheri was a little meh - nothing to really sing about. Some of the starters were a little underwhelming also. All in all it was ok, but no Italian charm. I probably wouldn’t return, only because there are far better options out there.

I keep coming back to this local place because it always has something delicious on its short but satisfying menu. Sometimes things aren't quite to my taste, the borlotti beans and samphire were lacking something to elevate them but the meatball starter was delicious. Again my companion's Ragu was better than my pasta dish but overall the meal was excellent. The Amaro spritz was delicious. It's a local restaurant worth returning to.

I was really looking forward to coming here but the whole experience was a total let down. We arrived and our table wasnt ready – it was finally ready 20 mins after the time we'd booked. Annoying but we thoughy we'd give them benefit of the doubt. Then it took forever to order and when my partner went to order something off the massive blackbkard in front of him we were told that was the lunch menu and not available (nowhere on the board did it say that and we weren't told) - so that was the second let down. By the time the starter arrived we'd been sitting down for 45 mins and sadly it was very average. Not once were we offered more drinks. Finally, 1.5 hours after arriving two bowls of pasta arrived. My partner's pasta (his second choice) was yummy, but mine was such a rip off. Essentially a bowl of oily pasta with parmesan and a few mushrooms sprinkled on it for £17.00. Overall highly disappointing. Food was very average for the price and the service was pretty bad. Too many bad things after another, which is a shame as i was really looking forward to my visit. Won't be coming back unfortunately. Staff were friendly though!

It was a hot day, so it's perfect if passing by and heading to the common to chill out or look around. The food was fresh, especially the pasta, and both were large dishes, and there was a nice menu for lunch and enough choices for drinks too. It's quite a small venue but don't be put off by that. **A War Reporter's Account of Artuzi: The Italian Gastronomic Oasis** *Date: June 10, 1917* *Location: Artuzi, an Italian Restaurant* As the tumultuous echoes of war engulfed the nearby streets, I sought refuge in an oasis of Italian cuisine known as Artuzi. Nestled amidst the chaos, this culinary haven promised respite for my weary soul. Equipped with a pen and a palate yearning for satisfaction, I embarked on a gastronomic adventure, armed only with my observations and a thirst for culinary enlightenment. Upon entering the establishment, I was greeted by an air of warmth and familiarity. Sunlight poured through the windows, casting a golden hue upon the patrons as they indulged in hearty Italian fare. In the midst of this quaint atmosphere, I found solace and prepared myself for the culinary journey that awaited me. Opting for a glass of Gavi, a crisp white wine known for its refreshing qualities, I allowed its cool embrace to wash away the weariness of the battlefront. The wine, like a gentle zephyr, danced upon my palate, whispering tales of distant vineyards and sun-drenched orchards. It offered a respite from the heat of the summer, a temporary ceasefire in the relentless battle against dehydration. Alas, the first taste of battle arrived in the form of a plate of pesto and split pea pasta. As I ventured forth, I found the dish to be somewhat lacking in seasoning, failing to reach the crescendo of flavors that my battle-hardened taste buds craved. The pesto, though vibrant in color, lacked the robustness required to fully conquer my palate. Nevertheless, I soldiered on, confident that the subsequent course would prove more victorious. Taking refuge in a glass of Nebbiolo, a noble red wine with its crimson hues reminiscent of bloodshed, I braced myself for the arrival of a dish that promised redemption. The pasta with beef ragu proved to be a worthy adversary, the rich and robust sauce enveloping the tender strands of pasta like battle-worn soldiers finding solace in each other's embrace. Here, the seasoning sang triumphantly, its flavors merging in a symphony of satisfaction that swept me away, if only momentarily, from the battlefield outside. Yet, amidst this culinary strife, there was one constant source of pleasure—sitting in the sun. As I sat bathed in its warm embrace, the world outside seemed to fade away, and for a fleeting moment, the horrors of war were a distant memory. The golden rays kissed my face, bestowing upon me a semblance of tranquility in an otherwise turbulent world. In this moment, I understood the profound power of simple pleasures, of basking in the sunlight as if it were a beacon of hope in the midst of darkness. To quench my thirst, I summoned a mighty bottle of sparkling water, a testament to the perseverance and resilience of the human spirit. As the effervescent bubbles danced upon my tongue, they carried with them a sense of rejuvenation, a reminder that even amidst the chaos, life's simplest pleasures can provide relief. In conclusion, Artuzi, despite its occasional missteps, offers solace to weary souls seeking refuge from the storm of war. Its ambiance, bathed in sunlight and infused with the spirit of Italian hospitality, provides a sanctuary for those yearning for respite. Though some dishes may falter, there are victories to be found, particularly in the form of the pasta with beef ragu. And in the midst of it all, the enduring joy of sitting in the sun and the refreshing embrace of sparkling water are beacons of hope that remind us of life's enduring beauty, even in the darkest of times.

We just had a quite a bad experience at this place. We had lunch after arriving at 12.05pm and the service was quite slow, which wasn’t a problem in itself but while having pudding the waitress already arrived with the bill saying we would have to leave the table in 10 minutes since our 2 hrs time slot was nearly over. Waiting time between dishes about 35 minutes. Please note, when I called to make the booking and also when I tried to do a test booking there was no mention of the table just being booked for 2hrs. The website also states that the place is open between 12-2.30 on Saturdays which wouldn’t allow for a second booking at 2pm. So we ate our pudding quickly (not a good experience) and when asking to have a coffee 6 minutes into the 10 minutes we were told that wasn’t possible. The manager of the day also told me that they mention the 2 hrs booking time on their website (not true) and that it is also communicated during the booking procedure (also not true). In fact, I had called to make the booking and was emailed a link to add my credit card details and on the confirmation email there isn’t any reference to “finish your lunch within 2 hrs and then we’ll kick you out”. I called later that day to tell them and the manager said I couldn’t see it on the test booking because they had changed the booking system a few days earlier (hahahah). Just another attempt to gaslight a customer. Must be great to work in a team with such nice colleagues that tell lies instead of attempting to save a situation. I will definitely avoid this place in the future and quite a few friends who have been customers and live in the area will also avoid it from now on.

Was very disappointed with this place, after reading all the positive reviews we went there for a celebration. We expected exceptional food considering it is a limited menu (and also over priced). We expected quality seasonal produce and expected the ingredients to shine. Instead the warm beetroot and shallot salad was slimy and the beetroot lacked any flavour. The dishes had no depth or variety of flavours. The pasta was so al Dente it was sticking to my teeth and also misleading in what we had ordered. There was no balance in the dishes flavour, just oily and salty tasting. Unfortunately the place also lacked atmosphere but the staff where very friendly and and kind hence the 2 star. This could be so much better. Sorry I don’t like leaving bad reviews but purely over rated in my opinion.

Tasty food and great variety of dishes on the Christmas set menu. Sadly the service was wanting which would have made the evening a 5* experience, especially in a small, intimate setting like this restaurant. First couple of courses were pleasant (Gorgonzola arancini; cider mussels) but noticed a massive step up in quality with the chestnut & pumpkin ravioli which was perfectly cooked, followed by melt-in-the-mouth ox cheek. Excellent tiramisu. £50 a head set menu was fair value for 5 courses & a cocktail.

Lovely restaurant on a gorgeous Peckham back-street. Feels like you've landed in one of the village-esque Hackney streets. It is expensive (£30 each for lunch, without drinks), but worth it nonetheless. While the recipes were fairly simple, the food was good quality, clearly well sourced & the flavours were balanced perfectly. There's clearly a good chef behind the scenes. Recommended

Nowhere near as good as it thinks it is. Very overpriced and average service. When charging over £25 for a lamb main i have high expectations

Beautiful small restaurant with wonderful food. Very good and friendly stuff. I really enjoyed the place. They changed the menu every week. So you can try very different and delicious meals. Wonderful place if you want some coffee with a dessert, lunch or dinner.

Was here late December, manager had given kitchen staff leave (nice of him) but not quite calculated how many tables they could serve with remaining staff. Never waited so long for pizzas in my life.

Loved this place the first time I ate here. So after checking their website to make sure they were open (til 11pm) I went back. Time, money, and reveal crowded buses later they were NOT open. Really ir
