Pizza Express - Bankside in Southwark

Mum took me here and it was the perfect spot for her visit to London, overlooking the river and city Service was efficient and food as tasty as ever

we were in london a few days ago and we needed a bathroom, they were so kind with us that didn’t ate there before! all the staff was so kind and friendly with us! absolutely recommended! especially the lady who welcomed us, the location is real cool and elegant and it gets a view of london that’s magical!

Overall, we had a great time at the pizza making party. Alex made our experience very fun and enjoyable. He was attentive and kind. The only downside was that the pizzas took over an hour to arrive.

I came here with my granddaughter today. It was super busy but Alex P was so helpful and attentive throughout our whole lunch, from finding a seat and advice re: food. The young waiter who served us, sorry, I don't know his name (a young black man) was so friendly and polite. A big thank you to you both. All the staff were working their socks👏👏👏

We popped into Pizza Express the other day and ordered two pizzas. Honestly, for the price, they were really good—no complaints there! But what really stood out was the service. Lilika, our waitress, was amazing—super attentive and genuinely lovely. She made the whole experience feel extra nice.

We got a great table with a direct view of the Thames. The waiter Nuno was super friendly and accommodating. The pizzas we ate were great. Everything around us seemed a bit hectic as there was a lot of customer traffic.

My child’s menu was great! He enjoyed it. My salad was ok and although it was missing the croutons Lilika our waitress rectified it straight away! Her service was excellent.

I had a fantastic experience at Pizza Express! The food was delicious, as always, but what really made the visit special was the service! Jarka was exceptional - so friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. It's rare to find such great service, and Jarka truly made our meal memorable. She also give us great recommendations for the food, and I really enjoyed the vanilla cheesecake ! Highly recommend this location for both great food but especially because of the outstanding customer service! 🙌❤️

What truly made the evening exceptional was the service. Our server, Scartale, was absolutely wonderful—attentive, cheerful, and incredibly helpful throughout the meal. She went out of her way to ensure that everything was perfect for our celebration. Her friendly demeanor and professionalism made us feel welcomed and well taken care of. Overall, it was a memorable evening, and we can’t recommend Pizza Express at Bankside enough for anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a beautiful setting. What a great experience at Pizza Express Bankside! The staff, especially Scarlate, were so welcoming and made us feel at home. Amelia’s gesture of giving us a private room made the party even better.

Jarka was our waitress, really friendly and did her job well. Food was good, good ratio price-quality. Nice ambiance, not too loud, so you could actually talk to each other (unlike other restaurants in the area)

A special mention goes to Amelia, who went above and beyond by assigning us a private room for our party, which made the event even more memorable. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the Mushroom and Truffle pizza and the Padana, both of which were fresh, hot, and full of flavor. The ingredients were clearly of high quality, and each bite was a delight. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also very pleasant, with a relaxed and welcoming vibe that made it the perfect spot for a special gathering. I highly recommend Pizza Express in Bankside for its fantastic service, great food, and overall wonderful experience.

Scarlate our server was absolutely lovely, smiley and personable. The food was delicious, we had spinach and ricotta cannelloni and a bottle of organic wine. Atmosphere, great and feels welcoming and unpretentious. Would visit again 🙂

After a long time of not being able to visit Pizza Express, we decided to bring memories back. We received warm welcome right from the doors, amazing service throughout whole evening. American hottest Lagera Padana love that classics are still on the menu !!! But diner needed to be finished with honey comb slice, just delicious. Professional staff, they really know what they do- bravo.

Jarka was so lovely and attentive and let us stay chatting for ages - a wonderful evening catching up with friends!

We had a really great experience and Flo the manager was so kind and accommodating towards my children and I which made for a really pleasant experience for us. It is a really child friendly place and caters to children and adults alike very well. Affordable prices too

Great location, very friendly, courteous staff. Perfect view of the Thames and the pizzas taste delicious. In short: the place to be. By the way, if it happens that Jakub is your waiter… you are one of the lucky ones!

I ordered the food 2 hours before it's delivery time to fit in with a meeting lunch break. It hadn't left the restaurant at the time it was due to arrive causing issues with the timings of the meeting meaning the afternoon didn't go to plan.

The new festive menu is well worth it and a brilliant price! This branch was beautiful, spacious and kind staff. Highly recommend

Two floors - downstairs has good views but upstairs has even better views of the Thames between Blackfriars and Southwark bridges, with St Paul's, etc. in the background. The food is great if not a tad on the pricey side if you're used to non-London prices. Some tables are well-lit, and others were quite dark (which made reading the menu not as easy as it could have been). Tables downstairs opposite the kitchen, serving and drinks area were very noisy with oven doors, plates and cutlery rattling and bashing around. Service was friendly, but we had a few minor issues that were resolved but nevertheless left a slight mar on the evening's visit.

Lovely dinner! Nuno gets all five of the stars and gave excellent service. So kind and hardworking. The managers however were awful, shouting at their colleagues and standing around doing nothing.

Every restaurant the staff are excellent! Truly. The food is incredible and this is our favorite place to go for pizza (the only place) when we visit London from the US. Tonight was no exception. The restaurant was busy, but Nuno made sure we felt taken care of.

Part of a chain of restaurants. The location is charming, on the banks of the Thames. The Niçoise salad and lasagne were good. The pizza was good, but not up to the standard of an Italian-style pizza. Efficient service.

The Pizza Express—should come with a warning label—“for serious pizza lovers”—the pizza crust options are extensive. The kitchen knows what they are doing. The table side service? Ask for Nora—she represents Pizza Express really well!

Bankside branch has lovely views of the Thames/Southwark Bridge/St Pauls. We thought we would have a nice evening. Far from it!. Waiter approached us just as we sat down asking if we want a drink, we asked waiter to come back in a couple of minutes while we decide. He didn't come back. I had to ask another waiter 15 minutes later. Drinks arrived quickly but the food didn't arrive for another 45 minutes (The restaurant was about 75% empty). The food was cold. We spoke to the manager who asked us what we wanted (I thought it was the manager who should make decisions). My partner had a Leggera Pomodoro which has a whole in the middle for some salad. There was more whole than pizza. Everything apart from the view was awful. It looks like they don't care about customer service or quality of food as it is in an area with a high footfall of customers.

Been coming here a lot as it's close to my work. Very busy and hectic a few months ago but things have shot right up since then. Nuno is the absolute man! He was friendly, attentive, and he hustles but never seems stressed. The best location for a pizza express right on the river and the best staff who handle the biggest crowds. Give them a little bit of patience and you'll have the best evening

Lovely restaurant, right on the Thames just past the Globe theatre. A really ambient setting with tasteful decor and soft lighting, serving delicious food. A really enjoyable relaxing evening meal on a Sunday night.

Was surprised of the quality of the food. Although they were out of out first choice, we did find some did delicious options. I had the Chicken Pesto. Great amount of chicken and tasty. My wife had a pizza and found it full of flavor. We would return again.
