We've been meaning to try this place and finally didn't have our dog with us so managed to go and get a table one lunchtime. The staff were young but very attentive and efficient. Everything arrived quickly - drinks and food. They serve the Jeeves and Jerico fruit/mint teas here, which we like and don't find too often. The pork pies in the counter caught my eye when we arrived, so I had pie and peas. My husband went for the minestrone soup. Both were nice and tasty, although the pie pasty was soft so presumably microwaved warm. A quick check of the desserts on offer and, as the baking looked rather rustic, we went for the very attractive and neat looking coffee and cream cheesecake. It was smooth and delicious, with a lovely base. A stronger coffee flavour would have been nice but my husband thought it was spot on. There looked to be other nice options being served while we were there, and the view from the big window was lovely, so we'll probably be back.

Had Sunday lunch here today. We both chose the Sunday Roast, me Turkey and my husband the Beef. The meals were not very warm and the beef looked like it had been pressed - it was also over cooked. The meal was served with the meat and very nice stuffing with the turkey, a Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, new potatoes and then a side dish of mashed potatoes! The side vegetables were rubbish. A few sad looking carrots with watery cabbage and overcooked green beans. There was also a lot of water swimming about in the bottom of the quite small dish. The whole meal was very under seasoned and quite honestly tasteless. Will definitely not choose the Sunday Roast again. A shame because we really like this eatery but the Sunday Lunch is not up to standard.

We called in for breakfast, as it looked like a really nice place with beautiful surroundings. We were so disappointed and I wish I’d checked the reviews here first. I had ordered eggs benedict and the yolks were rock hard, bacon was bone dry (like it had been sat there for hours and hours!) and rather than English muffins, it came on a piece of sourdough toast, half of which was burnt and half of which was untoasted. Assuming the bread could only fit half way in the toaster! Service wasn’t great either. After we had paid and were leaving, only then were we asked if everything had been ok, to which I explained it was disappointing. We were advised they’d “let chef know”.

Been with family a few times and not been wholly satisfied but it’s convenient to meet there. Wanted to give them another chance but I’m done. Order arrived wrong, meat very dry, barely an apology and told I should have asked for the meal that I wanted … excuse me but I did otherwise why was it wrong? Didn’t like the attitude of staff at all. Obviously they’re making enough money not to worry about their customers.

Called infor a light lunch. I ordered traditional pork pie and mushy peas. The peas were ok, but the pie was almost inedible. It looked and tasted as if it had been warmed up in a microwave oven, resulting in the pastry shell being soggy and rubbery.

We visited for breakfast for the first time and arrived shortly after 9am. There were only a few customers in and we were shown to a table very close to another couple, despite lots of empty tables. We asked if it was possible to have a table by the window but was told they were booked out. We had breakfast and then left roughly an hour later and none of the tables by the windows were occupied during our meal there. Food was average but would not return.

Despite the grim weather, it was worth coming out for lunch. Have just enjoyed a fine fish pie with vegetables ( carrots , beans and broccoli). Vegetables unadorned but very wholesome and well cooked. Finished with Bakewell sponge and custard.. very nice. Asked for glasses of water and they came with slices of lemon- nice touch. Will certainly be back.

We have been going there for some time, but our experience today was well below par. We ordered steak pie and when it came the pastry was undercooked underneath and the chips were partly cooked and cold. It's a shame because we enjoy going there to eat, the staff are so friendly. We don't like to complain, but when your asked by the owner, was the food ok, you tell but they fail to do anything about it.

Second visit but no comparison to the first which was great. My companion had pork pie with chips and peas, well presented but the pie had been in the microwave which made it soggy and chewy. I had fish pie and vegetables. Couldn’t make out the veg on the broccoli, they were totally overcooked carrots swimming in oil and totally inedible. The fish pie was tasty but watery, Disappointed and won’t be returning any time soon

Was expecting as you would from the name A FARM SHOP. Had a meal. It was ok. Nothing to write home about. The bread in my sandwich was too hard. Expensive for what we had. Wanted to visit the farm shop but apparently it was none existent. Just a counter with over priced cakes and pork pies. The waitresses didn't know what they were doing and we were overcharged for one pork pie and then they tried to charge us for our meal again. Will not be going back. Another person was looking for the farm shop as we left. What a total waste of time!!!

Really want to love it here as it has so much potential and the menu looks amazing. Visited a couple of months ago on a Sunday for breakfast, told they food is taking 50/60 mins to cook. Initially wasn’t too happy as I was pregnant and hungry! I only ordered a bacon and egg sandwich and husband ordered full breakfast. After an hour came and went, and a couple next to us arrived after us, ate and left before us before our order even came, we chased our order up twice. We were waiting a good 80 minutes for our food which I think is ridiculous for a bacon and egg sandwich. We understood the long wait initially but to wait over an hour is ridiculous. No real apology from anyone even when we mentioned upon paying. Today visited again, one waitress brought over drinks, I asked for some ketchup to be told to ask another waitress as she’s on the bar?! I was pretty shocked at the response, especially as there weren’t many waitresses available to ask. Felt like an inconvenience and might have been easier if whoever brought our food asked if we wanted any condiments, but they didn’t.

I have lived close to this establishment for many years but never had a good reason to call until recently. What a pleasure. The staff gave first class service in both the restaurant and shop. Beat this for service--I needed flour but it was not a stock item so the lady weighed me some of theirs from the rather splendid bakery section, fantastic!! My second visit. My first was below expectations but, as I've heard positive reviews from others, I thought I would try it again and went with 3 friends. I ordered the hot rump beef with gravy sandwich, on a soft roll, which came with chips. My imagining was that I'd get a thickish slice of beef on a roll the size of a burger bun. What I got was a long buttered bun, containing thinly sliced roast beef and gravy. The beef was very tender and plentiful but the sandwich was so soggy I had to eat it with a knife and fork. It wasn't very appetising. The chips looked great, double or triple cooked, but I got the impression there'd been quite a gap before the last cooking and one was so hard, it shot off the plate when I cut it. I'd asked for a large Americano, expecting a mug, and I did see others with mugs, but I got a normal sized cup and saucer. Two of my companions also had the hot sandwiches; one beef, the other turkey. Again, the meat was tender and plentiful but the sandwiches were soggy. There really needs to be a rethink on presentation. The fourth companion had the platter which was lovely.I will give the place another try, as I live in the same village, but probably for cake, as those on display did look gorgeous.

Having not visited the place for 7 years I recently found the 'new' cafe is bright and airy, and the loo is on the same level (Though the car park is down steps /steep path) and expectations were high, based on other people's reports. The menu was very limited which surprised my companion who had eaten there recently. As for our meal, I'm sorry to say that although the gammon was cooked to perfection it was so salty it was almost inedible. The portions are mean for the prices charged and the service is slow; 20 minutes between sitting down and being asked what we wanted to eat! There appeared to be enough staff but they seemed to lack direction or method. A fluke perhaps, so I visited again. Same number of staff, fewer customers, same slow service and mean portions. Don't think we'll be visiting again.

We both had the full English which was plentiful and well cooked, not greasy, but the bacon was hard, as if it had been cooked hours ago and been kept warm since and the sausages and black pudding were nothing special. Arrived at 12:45. Told no soup left so the soup is obviously not made daily. I’m sure nobody is eating soup for breakfast so working on the assumption that lunch starts around 12, they’re either not making enough or they’re using leftovers. Ridiculously slow service. Waited 45 minutes for 2 overpriced sandwiches. Slice of cake £3.75, wafer thin. Staff surly and unwelcoming. Not a good place to eat at all.

After going here for over 25 years never again. Poor customer service, prioritise the online orders and ignore face to face customers. 4 staff in the shop and was ignored by all bar 1. The service has been steadily going down hill and tonight was the last straw. Such a shame as I like to support small local businesses who need the support.
