Roberts Oyster Bar in Blackpool

Was coming back here to this place over the 5 years. Understandably within this time rules is changed. Today honour was so rude to us if I wouldn’t payed already for my oysters I would have leave! Table wasn’t outside as usual it was raining all day we was told. When I asked for put it for us because rain was stopped at the point, we being sent to the corner of the shop. I brought little Prosecco to enjoy my oyster’s as I’ve done many times before. I’ve been told off and after asking if I can put it in any other glass and get refuse it I put it away. But honour cary on about legacy end ext. I wasn’t feeling welcome in this place. Definitely never come back again and wouldn’t recommend it to my friends and family. Very sad . It’s ruined my holiday feeling at the first day!It was one of the pleasures in Blackpool my family was coming for!

Absolutely beautiful prawns and lobster tail. The man who served us was very pleasant will defo be going back

Had three oysters for £6 - excellent flavour and texture. Just a wonderful experience, and how good it is that such a place survives amidst all the tat and look-alike places. Tables are a bit low and service wasn't exactly smiley, but worth the trip!

Hi on my last visit here it was very disappointing after going this place years & the lady had been rude but I must say on this return the same lady was lovely cudnt do enough to help & the difference was so much better the selection of oysters & lobster tail & prawn selection perfect we just loved it & cant wait to return many thanks very satisfied customers xxx

Absolutely love seafood so was excited to try this place. Went for a seafood platter. It’s was not fresh in the slightest. It had been poorly defrosted or something!! I ended up having a lovely night stuck in the loo!!! Not what I wanted to do on my holiday!!! I suggest avoiding

Food is sooooo good that I kept buying them! Very Very nice crabs, already peeled crab meat and yolk，and the best sea snails I've ever eaten in my life! Very nice and cute fridge sticker, very impressed. The only downside was the waiter, who didn't pay much attention to me. Besides all good! P.S. be careful with flying sads when you eat outside the store! : ) 食物太好吃了，买了又买! 非常非常好吃的面包蟹，是已经剥好的蟹肉和蟹黄，还有我这辈子吃过的最好吃的海螺! 鲜甜可口！一点都不腥气! 非常漂亮可爱的冰箱贴，冰箱贴爱好者印象非常深刻。唯一的缺点是服务员，他不太搭理我。除此之外，一切都很好! P.S. 在店外吃饭的时候要小心外面刮风飞来的沙子! : )

I'm a local, so Roberts is well known to me. I've enjoyed the superb oysters served here over many years, and continue to do so. Last weeks were from Loch Fyne (3 for £5) absolute perfection with lemon. tabasco or just the natural liquor.

First time trying oysters served correctly, and wow they are wonderful. I ordered 3 oysters for £4.99 with a wedge of lemon. Huge and meaty oysters that I doubt can be bettered. Off to Funnygirls now I'm refreshed

Had oysters there last Saturday best I've ever had. The price is also very good would definitely recommend.

I have been visiting this establishment since a boy, my last couple of visits I can't help but think the visits have been made worse by the miserable man that serves Food is always spot on but I am now thinking that I'd rather not part with my cash for such a miserable service

Visited the gift shop next to the oyster bar but still part of Roberts. Got short changed by £5 out of a twenty pound note for a £1.99 spend and no amount of discussion with the woman who served my sister and short changed her got us anywhere. Will NEVER visit again and we hope the fiver that she stole burns her fingers as my sister lives on a very tight budget and a fiver lost is huge to her

The biggest, meatiest oysters I have ever had. I'd be surprised if Galway could do any better. Delicious fresh king prawns. Only shame is he isn't licensed to sell alcohol. A wee white wine would have gone down a treat! It isn't cheap but oysters never are; you are paying for the unbelievable quality. I've been charged as much and more for inferior oysters.

Had a very nice plate of seafood here all washed down with a cup of tea. fantastic to sit in the sun watching the world go by. You must try the fresh seafood on your visit as its yummy.

Visited last night and our first stop as always is Roberts Oyster Bar. Fantastic selection. I had the cockles which were plump, fresh and so tasty. It was such a shame that we had driven 50 miles and the man serving was very unpleasant when presented with a £20 note. Asked if we had any less and we said not and that we don't usually carry cash (he didn't have a card machine) so he said under his breath "well you should"!! Get a card machine if you don't want to give change!!! Bring back the nice lady who usually serves!!

whilst walking along the front we decided to have a lite lunch and Roberts looked just the spot...My cousin ordered 6 oysters and I got the lobster tail salad, both meals together were under 15 pounds. My cousin is a bit of sea food expert as that is his job in Scotland and he was delighted with his oysters, the size, freshness and quality was outstanding....Excellent

Me and my partner are partial to oysters so this was a must do for us. We had 3 oysters and a side of King prawns. Flippin lovely

I used to pop into the Pleasure beach just for the oysters at the seafood bar, but the new admission price put a stop to that.So, I am very happy to find Robert's Oyster Bar and we enjoyed the prawns, lobster and of course the oysters. Oh, and the filter coffee is good too. I can see this becoming a regular stop on our visits to Blackpool.

So on arrival requested oysters — none available— Nothing more to say as it is now a little stall poorly managed by a surely gent

Good selection of takeaway seafood suitable for a snack. Pleasant change from chips or hot takeaways. A little expensive £2.50 for a tub of prawns but they were fresh tasting and cold. Help your self to sauces - the cocktail was full of flavour.

Brilliant- traditional British seaside at its best!! Oysters, prawns, cockles, whelks !!! Bit pricey for small portions but fresh and tasty.

love oysters and have always got some from here but this year very expensive , sorry passed on them this time

Went as a family, the woman who served us was rude and nasty! I’m surprised she has any customers with her mouth! Asked us to move table and because some of us who were seated hadn’t bought food she asked us to move to make way for other customers in which didn’t exist! And to top it all off the food wasn’t fresh at all and at an ridiculous price!

Visited here the other day, used to enjoy coming here, but the prices have shot up, could do with better customer service, price for 2 large tubs of prawns was expensive, got twice as much at the Pleasure Beach & twice as nice

Went on the train from Bolton for fresh oysters, he had none until the day after. Got some cockles,crayfish and lobster tails to take home instead. Disappointed for such a long trip

I definitely recommend this for oyster it was so very fresh and they were absoloutly divine yum yum.

We sampled 3 oysters and pots of whelks x2 plus prawns and cockles with a side order of mussels.All very fresh a delight for all shellfish lovers, recommended to try, prices ok . Need larger pots and smaller ones too ,I would recommend to this outfit.Best I’ve known from places I’ve sampled at seasides!Places to sit outside undercover.Friendly person serving, sauces and condiments available , try urgently before sold out. bought fresh prawns from him on a previous trip to Blackpool. The prawns were lovely but the customer service was poor. I’m returning to Blackpool this bank holiday and I always treat myself to seafood but Im In doubt to go back

Lovely fresh seafood every time ,Blackpool holiday would not be the same without a trip to here, sellls traditional sea food it’s excellent.

Once again had dressed crab and lobster tail here. Absolutely beautiful. So fresh and tasty. Try it!

It was nice to see a fresh seafood shop in Blackpool

this fish bar was open in the 1960's and has changed from selling seafood to diversifying to rock and ices . small tub of cockles for £2.50 - a bit steep but well tasty

Always use to visit when the kids were younger and was made up still open my husband had the seafood tray and an oyster was very fresh and the man was lovely took us back years cannot wait to go again as last time we visited Blackpool was closed

We used to visit when it had the inside rooms open in the '80s and returned to pay homage. Fresh seafood and a decent cup of tea, what more can you ask for.

Lovely little seafood bar, on the seafront near the North Pier. Very fresh prawns and oysters well worth a visit. Prawns £2.50 a pot and the oysters are £1.50 each or 3 for £4.

When ever I go to the coast I always have to visit a seafood bar to enjoy the fresh seafood we found this one on the promenade while walking I had a tray with prawns salad and nice size of lobster tail with some sauce well worth a visit fresh and a lovely taste will definatly visit again when in the area

Si te gusta el pescado shell este lugar es dónde conseguir. Es bastante caro pero un marisco de calidad. Te puedes sentar fuera así si es bonito y está situado en North Pier así de agradables vistas. Llevé la mía volver al hotel y disfrutamos con pan y mantequilla delicioso

Dropped in as a party of 8 for a Sunday light lunch. Wide variety of fresh shellfish available and a friendly owner but unfortunately no fresh shrimps that day and no bread & butter on offer.

When I first went to Robert’s Oyster Rooms it was exactly that…rooms where you ate a plate of oysters. Now, sadly, it is little more than a shellfish stall. I had an oyster for old time’s sake, which was very good but a swingeing £1.80....

Had oysters which were amazing as always even though the man serving struggled to open them but made us laugh.. then went back gor cockles next day superb

My family and I stopped to have a hot drink here..I went to the counter and ordered a coke, 2 teas and a coffee,the tea was blcck which if fine and the coffee had milk and I said to the man behind the counter ohh it's white can I have black please, he responded by telling me I should have ordered that and was very rude, he replaced the coffee with black coffee, I took it to the table to sit with my family...where under my breath as you do ! I started to relate the story discreetly to my husband...where upon the owner appeared at the table next to us and said are you still going on ?? I explained I was having a private conversation with my husband, the man then said it was his property and he can listen to all conversations etc s it belongs to him !!!!!...I replied by telling him this wasn't the case and to leave us alone to drink our drinks. he kept going on and on and on, which was then starting to distress my son my youngest son of 12 sadly stuck his two fingers up to the man, the man replied by telling me he was disgustting I was a bad parent and should control my so, I asked how?? with a lead, he said I didn't say that I then asked him since he knew so much about Autism ( which he had already been told) my son has that he could I'm sure tell me how to parent better. my 16 yr old Autistic son left the table and cafe....I would after this debacle like to thank the Gentleman who after I phoned the police about the owner of this cafe.....offered to be a police witness and explained that he had wotnessed the whole incident...and to the group of people who also intervened to tell the owner of the cafe to leave my son alone as he is 12 and has special needs that he cant help.... the cafe owner tried to evict us by moving the table with our hot drinks on the table...sadly I ended up with the tea and coffee scalding me.thanks to this...the police arrived after a very long wait ( not their fault but high incidences occuring in Blackpool that night ) I did wait 3 hours I felt so strongly about the treatment my children recieved.... so my advise is if you go here, make sure there is no accidents in your order, don't talk unless you want the whole thing listened to, and if you have special needs family members....well be prepared for aggression and intolerance.....

I had my lovely lovely fresh oysters. Haven't had any for ages, and they were as lovely as I remember. Squeezed lemon juice on them and down they went. Fabulous.

Well, actually oysters rather than cockles and mussels, but they sell those too! And prawns. Roberts Oyster Bar has been in the same position on the seafront for decades, and all the seafood is delicious!

this place has been there since I was a kid love oysters , but have to say a bit expensive now seems to be a new owner , he wasn't very pleasant

We always have lobster tails from here when we are in town, they are brilliant and great value. There is lots of other brilliant looking things too

lots of fishy things for sale here. some with shells some without shells.you choose what you want and a person will serve you. we had a very nice gentleman xx

Excellent fresh seafood, a must for every adventurous foodie. Close to the beach and nothing better than the sound of the sea, the gulls in the background and the breeze in your face as you tuck into a plate of oysters

bought a portion of whelks which were tasty and fresh, although portion was rather small. Seafood stalls in London usually sell half or pints of seafood which works out better value for money,outley was very clean and food was displayed nicely

A must when in blackpool and only one we saw always nice and fresh worth the visit as don't want to see it go .

Lovely fresh seafood. Oysters are so fresh, we usually eat some there and take home a few. The whelks are even tender !!!!!

Fresh and delicious. Robert even allowed us to take home the shells after he washed them clean...as for my friend who had never eaten oysters before; she loved them. Highly recommend. Nice to have oysters on the seafront..and not in an upmarket department store in London.

Bit pricey but excellent and knowledgeable.Cant think of much more to say about a dish of excellent cockles!

Fresh cockles and loads of other fine seafood ready to eat, We go here each time we visit Blackpool and its always lovely sea food, The Oysters are superb too. Things are getting expensive nowadays with a small tub of cockles running at £2.50 a time but its still worth it for the pleasure of eating them whilst walking down the front.

I go here every time we are in Blackpool.Believe it or not it's my 6 year old son that always wants to go (I must admit I don't need dragging, I love it) he has the winkles and I have the oysters. Unfortunately yesterday they didn't have any winkles :( BUT the lady asked if he would like to try a muscle and he absolutely loved it so I obviously bought him some. I always encourage my kids to try different things but it was lovely of her to offer before I spent my money.

Visit was last summer, will hopefully return sometime this year. The oysters were great, fresh, ice cold served with lemon & Tabasco sauce. Nice to sit outside in the seating area on a hot summers day too :)

Oysters served were incredibly fresh . Had five on my own and came again the following day! The lady at the oyster bar is very friendly.

Great value simple but good hospitality, staff very friendly. Enjoyed the oysters and cockles. Bit cold on the front but we can not control the weather

Although a bit overpriced, the shelfish at Roberts Oyster Bar are always fresh and delicious. I've been visiting it for years and it's one of the first places I head to when I arrive in Blackpool!

The best seafood in Blackpool. We always make a beeline for Roberts as it's my daughters favourite. Prawns and seafood platter are delicious. Highly recommend.

Nice and fresh seafood. A little but pricey but I guess everything is in Blackpool. Even so, I'd recommend you try this nice little place.

I only gave it a 4 as it's a take away and not a restaurant. The oysters are excellent value with 3 for £4. There is a good range of other sea food too.

The oysters here are the best, they get bigger every year the only trouble is my husband has 3 then another 3etc.

you can easily walk past the place but it`d be a shame to do so.Brilliant seafood but the oysters are brilliant and really good value : we even got our 10 yoa hooked on them !! Missing them already.

It was a wet and windy lunchtime. I would have liked a few oysters and a drink but there was no table seating - only takeaway so we had a carton of mixed stuff which was ok.

Gets better every visit,more choice this year,pink shrimps, potted shrimps & rollmops. Nice to see jellied eels as well & the oyster are Devine

this place right on the front was excellent had rainbow trout and it was cooked to perfection nice cold glass of wine and vert attentive helpful staff all in all a great expirience would i go back yes

This Oyster Bar is the one constant on the Blackpool Promenade. It has been open for centuries (literally) and still looks the same as it ever did.You can get every shellfish you can think of but my favourite is Morecambe bay shrimps Mmmm!

Whilst in Blackpool recently I visited this establishment and purchased some prawns. The gentleman behind the stall was very friendly and both he and his stall appeared to be spotlessly clean. I feel that for the two pounds I was charged the portion of prawns I received was a little on the small side, but having said that they were very tasty, so much so that I returned later in the day for another portion. I didn't try any of the other varieties of seafood on offer on this occasion, but they all looked very good.

Lovely seafood really fresh loved it,we had the cockles,crab sticks,winkles and the seafood mix really enjoyed it all,and really reasonable price,will be going back when return to Blackpool

In reply to John G it appears you are mistaken about the position of the oyster bar as the Shack you described it as is in fact part of the original building and not the ice cream/burger bar or old gated entrance for deliveries as that building is totally separate and still operating as a burger bar. The blue heritage plaque is still on display in the original building to this day. I would question if indeed you have even seen the building or have been misinformed of the facts. As a local and regular visitor to Roberts oyster bar I can honestly say you get great service and superb seafood with fantastic value for money.

My boyfriend bought some cockles from here in order to a.reminisce about them wIth his grandad andb.cure a raging hangover (odd I know) Nice bloke, hangover cure didn't work though!

My husband loves oysters and we went there but he had a dodgy one and had to spit it out - all the man said was 'I'm sorry about that' and walked away. Put us off completely for any more seafood at the weekend and we love seafood!!

Do not confuse with the original. The Oyster Bar closed. Interior split into two and a chipy is now in the place of the old one. A small sea food takeaway has opened in the second half under the original signage. HOWEVER - Very Clean and Tidy. Reasonably Priced.

MY Boyfriend Loved Roberts Oyster Bar, he always likes to stay in hotel close by so can pop round to get his oysters lol, great value and taste!

Really good, enjoyed a seafood platter and some oysters, great prices and was reassured to see a 5 on the food hygiene rating.My Mum remembers going to Roberts Oyster Bar with her Dad as a child and at 80 she enjoyed the walk down memory lane.Nice guy served us and was happy to hear the stories of how it used to be!

Lovely little chap served us oysters, no hassles no quibbles and has all condiments ready on the side. Lovely!

Roberts' Oyster Rooms was a Blackpool legend. Sadly, it has been reduced from a cosy wood panelled dining room to a shop-front on the prom with three small round tables on the pavement.The seafood, however, is still good; the oysters are fine and the prices are great.

I always visit this oyster bar when we are in Blackpool. it is the only place my husband will have oysters from and I always enjoy the other seafood on offer.

We couldn't bring ourselves to eat the food for fear of poisoning! It was dry and warm not what you expect shellfish to be, we kindly asked for a fresh one and there wasn't any . .glad we walked away to live to fight another day!
