Very busy as it was a saturday all seats full but had very little wait to be seated food was good but has been better when not as busy, had to wait for dessert

OMG one of the best fish and chips I've had in a long time absolutle delicious..I had the medium haddock and chips and it was a good size potion mushy peas extra and curry sauce it was fab. Staff really friendly and attentive big shout out to Kodie lovely lad and Daz absolutely made us laugh and made us feel welcome..will defo be back when next in blackpool..

As a local eat here often. But Saturday evening was busy. Ordered 3 senior meals and others, but no dessert was offered and after 35 minutes plates not cleared left without waiting any longer. Disappointed as there were 6 of us

I ordered the large haddock & chips, the haddock was fairy hot, and the chips were lukewarm. Decent food but not the best. The service was good, and the price was reasonable. Definitely not the best fish & chips i've ever eaten & not the worst either.

Second visit to this restaurant. Best fish and chips in town. We were greeted at the door by Darren (Daz). Very friendly and welcoming. We all had haddock and chips. The fish was perfectly cooked with crispy batter and moist fish. The chips were delicious too. We shared a portion of mushy peas and curry sauce. Which was to die for. Tasted like the curry sauce I remember as a child. Washed down with a very reasonably priced bottle of Pinot Grigio. Our waiter Cody was efficient and friendly. Took the time to make sure everything was OK and engaged in a brief chat. Daz also came over to chat and ask how our visit to Blackpool was going. A very pleasant experience, enhanced by two very pleasant staff. Would highly recommend.

Website states you don’t need a reservation, but can call to reserve if you wish. Called multiple times & no response. Walked up on the evening instead, to be told that we couldn’t take a walk-in table, because they were setting up for reservations. When I explained that the phone wasn’t answered all day, was advised that the phone ‘is broken & has been for a while’. We were then told we couldn’t just wait for a walk-in table, because all tables were reserved.

Terrible. If I had 2 spoonfuls of fish flesh I was lucky. Fish looked massive but all batter. Very disappointed. Did mention my disappointment and got a shrug for my trouble.

Quiet day in Blackpool but lovely lunch at Papa's fish and chip restaurant. Friendly service from Darren. Great gluten free options.

We went on a Wednesday evening on the strength of good reviews. It was busy (always a good sign) and we were advised of a wait of about 30 mins for food. No probs so we settled down with a nice pinot from the bar. Unfortunately the food did not live up to expectations. The seafood platter was Ok but the calamari was tough and the dish was overwhelmed with salad leaves and rather slimy cucumber. Fish and chips was a generous size and the haddock was terrific. However the chips were not fresh and lukewarm. We should have sent them back but the fish was good. The children’s fish and chips were the same but the portion size was almost too big for a 7-year old. Food was served without cutlery or condiments which we had to ask for. There was nothing that deserved making a fuss but overall, it was a bit disappointing as most reviews have been good.

They claim to be the Best Fish & Chips in Btitain - they definitely aren't that. They aren't the worst either, but I'd say a little under average. The scampi was better than the haddock, the chips were okay. The service was quite slow for a chippy and there were loads of dirty plates on tables, with nobody clearing them up. I'd not go again tbh.

Bought a Papa's combo - small haddock, chips, sausage and curry sauce. Chips were literally just all scraps in the bottom of the box. Had one raw chip in there too, somehow. Fish wasn't bad but a bit dry. Not the best. Overall a disappointment.

Our server Jasmine was brilliant, she was so attentive and the food and drink was lovely. I’d definitely come back just for Jasmine. What a credit to your business! Thank you for a great experience.

TAKEAWAY it was crap Chips was over cooked dry didn't taste right the fish was bruised the batter was shimmy staff was rude the young lad spilt curry all over the pot not just on one but all 3 pots. We've tried a few different papas around the country and can honestly say it's not very good it's over priced and the foods poor no wonder there all closesing now

Very good and delicious fish&chips fast service friendly staff lovely big shop loads of seat at Blackpool. Near the pier so after you visit the attraction you can eat some fish&chips very convenience and their plaid parking lot near it multi storey parking so very good I recommend this restaurant.

Best fish and chips I've ever had. Visited with family last Friday. The guy front of house couldn't do enough for people and made sure everything ran smoothly. I can't wait to come back, tempted to do the hour and a half drive just for the large cod and chips! Kids loved it too

One of the best Fish and chip restaurants we have been to. From the time we stepped inside the staff could not be better. All so friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic. We had some of the best Fish and chips we have ever had. Can strongly recommend a visit. I am sure you won't be disappointed. Thank you to Darren and all the staff for a wonderful eating experience.

Last week had a take away from here and was awful !! So decided to sit in this week what a difference!! Was served by a young lady called Bethany who was very polite and very hardworking with a lovely smile !!

Went in here today with my parents and beat the rush hour!!! Went into the takeaway section and got a large haddock and chips! Was server by a boy called Ben with a welcoming smile! Thank you Papa’s for the brilliant experience!!!!!

First time visiting and it won't be the last. Service was slow but this was due to the school holidays and illuminations, so did allow for this. Tasty food and the staff very friendly and helpful.

This was our fish and chip meal for our holiday, but we definitely won't be going back there. The service was slow, and the music was too loud, so you couldn't actually have a decent conversation as nobody could properly talk to one another. One of the waiters also left the kitchen and came round the corner with vape smoke coming from his mouth. Surely, this should be done outside on a break. I had a fish pie dish, but it was quickly returned as it was served in a pudding bowl, and the edges of the fish pie was rock hard. I ended up getting it changed to scampi and chips but only ate the scampi due to the chips being hard and very chunky. My entire table had also finished their food by this point so was just waiting for myself to finish. The other guests in my group had raw batter on their haddock, and the other haddock was 70% batter with very little fish. The kids' chicken nuggets are nothing to write home about either. Another group member had fish pie returned twice for the same issues I had and, in the end, had it refunded and left very hungry. I paid for x2 children and x2 adults and in total was £48. If I had a nice meal and enjoyed the food then that money would have been well spent but unfortunately we all left hungry and had to hunt for more food. Very disappointing and won't be returning!

Staff are great - friendly and helpful. Food is good. But I could never go again on a day out - I can't justify losing all that time between ordering and the food finally arriving - we waited nearly an hour. Yes, the food was nice but not "wow this is so good it was worth the wait.". There's something wrong with the logistics of this place because the staff were working really hard continuously and doing their best to get food to customers as fast as possible.

Food was excellent and service was great. My waitress was called Jasmine and she was very attentive and ensured we had the best experience there.

Don't go if you are hungry, no urgency in serving people, more staff needed perhaps

Myself and my family travelled from Birmingham on 5th October and we had a meal booked at 6.30pm, on arrival there were big queues outside however we were seated for our booking. We ordered quickly as we are aware that the wait can be a while and the fireworks were on at 8.30pm which we had travelled to see. The food was brought to the table around 8.10pm which we felt was a long wait, the sides we ordered with the food came out 10 mins after the meals and my husbands meal of fish, parsley sauce, garden peas and chips arrived and it looked dreadful, dry baked up fish, no peas or sauce, the meal was placed on the table and we were told they had no parsley sauce or garden peas! We refused this meal and said the value for money was dreadful at almost £17 for this meal, we asked for a refund, I had to chase the manager around the restaurant to get a refund and was told on several occasions I would have to provide my email address to obtain a refund which I refused. After lots of discussion I eventually got a refund for that meal. I would not attend there again, it is not the first time we’ve been and can’t quite understand why people rave for this place, food is average fish and chips which you could get in any fish and chip shop, wait is horrendous, staff organisation and friendliness is not great either. Overall not a good experience in my view, this also made us miss the fireworks due to the manager not sorting out the refund promptly!

Thank you to Darren for his attention to our needs. Pleasant and polite which made our visit more enjoyable. An excellent host and a credit to the establishment. He is the benchmark of service excellence.

We arrived without a reservation, it was packed but Darren was super friendly and allowed us to sit and wait, he also allowed us to bring our wee dog in with is even though officially they're not dog friendly. After only a few minutes he had a booth ready for us. You order at the bar and my only criticism would be there was just 1 staff member there who was taking all orders and also preparing drinks etc so he was very busy and at times there was a long queue. We waited 30 minutes as the place was very busy but it was worth it, the fish was probably the best I've ever tasted and even the medium one was massive. When we were leaving we spoke to Darren who asked if everything was OK, and he was also saying that there had been a few very rude customers that evening shouting and swearing at him for the length of waiting time etc. Ridiculous really when you can see the size of the place and that every table is full, you expect a wait and don't mind when the food is so good. Thanks to everyone and especially Darren on the door, we will definitely be back next time we're in town 😀

Cold Food and Poor Manager customer service. On a weekend in Blackpool I decided to take the family to this fish and chip restaurant for an evening meal. Unfortunately our experience on this occasion was terrible. Our food arrived after 25 minutes, and straight away, we called the waitresses as the chips were luke warm. She returned saying we could have fresh chips. We started to eat the seamingly oily fish and after 5 minutes she returned to say that the chips would be another 5 minutes. I asked to see the manager who returned and explained he was the kitchen manager and he had left for his break and apologised. Our meal out was ruined and I asked for a refund as we were still awaiting replacement food but a refund was refused as the tills do not do refunds. After he contacted another off site manager he said because we had started the fish we could have a refund for the chips. Of course not happy I demanded he recontacted the manager. Unfortunately this manager seamingly refused to answer the phone. After 20 mins I accepted a £25 voucher. Big mistake as I now discover Papas have closed alot of their outlets and my nearest one is 40 miles away. Ok I thought after reading the web site they pride theirselves on quality food and customer service to which I contacted them on their contact form to be promised a response within 7 days. I forwarded my receipt and pictures Well, 3 more contact forms later, 3 emails to their office and 3 answerphone messages left, I have not had any responce at all. Things can go wrong in any restaurant and I believe it's how you put it right in the end. Papas failed me at every turn and I feel they stole my money. I have waited over 4 weeks before posting my review. They do not respect their customers and could this be why they are failing as a business. Shame on them !

Looked up best chippy in Blackpool and it was Papas so 6 of us went out for tea, it was busy and we que'd for 5 mins, went to the bar to order 20 mins in the que waited for our drinks ended up going to the bar myself then the food took nearly 45 minutes to arrive, some food was sat on the pass well over 10 minutes, food came I had haddock and chips and curry sauce, haddock was awful it looked as if it had been cooked 2 hours previously, chips great curry sauce best I've ever tasted, so I'm sorry I haven't given a golden review as I wanted, better luck next time oh sorry there won't be a next time.

Every chippy in Blackpool claims to be the best chippy there.. so I did some research and Papa's kept popping up!.. established in 1966.. and winners of the bbc best chippy in the uk (as the plaque read outside).. decided to give it a whirl.. turned up without booking and was given a table straight away, no problem.. ordered x2 medium haddock & chips, a side of curry sauce and a side of mushy peas...... oh my days!!... portions are huge, batter is very light and the sides were exceptionally good.. prices aren't as steep as you'd expect either.. Will definitely be returning!

Good food, second visit now. The only thing is you have to go to the bar to order more drinks when eating. ____________________________________ 3rd and last visit!!!!!! Just no organisation!!! 1 person serving behind the bar, who wasn't very pleasant. Dirty plates/ tables, people stood waiting to be seated, right behind our table. The worst fish cake I’ve ever eaten. Mushy peas were terrible too. The chips were nice but I lost my appetite from the other two. So many chip shops to choose from in Blackpool, try elsewhere.

Darren was very attentive and really looked after our table. We came with a client who has accessible needs and he couldn't of been more supportive of her. Absolutely amazing service by Darren and made our girl smile the entire time. Thankyou for such an amazing service and the food was really tasty too.

Papas is for us the best fish n chips restaurant in Blackpool. It's always busy which tells you how good it is. The food is great and the portions are big. Lots of variety for mains and good sides. The service is good and they staff are attentive. Hugh shout out to Darren the manager. We have met him a few times now and he's always very helpful. There have been times when it was very busy but its never to much for him to get you in as quick as he can. He's very kind, polite and always happy to help. from Yulia and Graham

Went there this evening to sit was told there was an hours wait for food , so we decided to go to the takeaway part of the shop instead. Stood in the queue for over 20 minutes to be told they were closing due to high demand! Absolutely disgusting service . I wouldn’t even bother , very disorganised, the restaurant looked disgusting with loads of dirty tables and the staff look miserable and are rude !

There must have been a staff shortage, two people to greet, seat, take orders, drinks, bring meals and clean tables wasn't enough. Had the halloumi and chips, needed a salad or greens, all oil and no balance. Haddock and chips was good but again needs a balance of deep fried and greens. Tables weren't clear or clean. Please wait sign at the front confused people because there was nobody to greet them, some walked out waiting. Not sure if fish and chips at a sit down restaurant is like this across blackpool but left not feeling great.

Food was amazing but what I saw was horrendous. The lads prepping the food for restaurant was using there hands no gloves. One threw a flush cake in the air, caught ut and put it on someone's plate. The floor was full of empty boxes. I almost cancelled my order but the server noticed me watching so used tongues to pick up my food.

Ww ordered 2 large cod with chips. When it arrived at the table there was a very small portion of chips and I mean small. And the large cod was smaller than usual. We live in Blackpool and go to papas every now and again not sure if we will go again if the small portions carry on.

Absolutely appalling, if I could give 1* I would. Waited 15 minutes for someone to show us to a table. Waited over 30 minutes for food, no advance warning of wait. Every table around us sending food back, cold food, waiting for for food and drinks. Dirty tables and seats. Toilets disgusting. Asked for a refund prior to food being served as the atmosphere was that bad, was told there was no one site who could give a refund. Food was cold and below average. Staff admitted they were short staffed and could not keep up.

Great food. The kids meals are also really generous. One of the party got the papas fish. Wow huge fish and really well cooked. The staff are really friendly and attentive. Shout out to Lee and Calum really does cook the best fish 🐟 And get the curry sauce!

Not a pleasant experience especially for the cost. I don't know if we came at the wrong time as plenty of dirty tables. No sauces, cold food. When asked for sauces we were given beans aswell. Sauce dropped on my daughter plate when delivered. Manager came over and whisked the plate away without conversing about what we would like to happen. Meal came back with no cutlery.. Daughter didn't eat it on return but took the chicken nuggets for the seagulls. Unsure but could need an oil change as batter was dark in colour, not crisp at all and didn't appear to be fresh. Love the concept and would probably try a different papas in another location. Given by the other reviews it seems quite a common experience and pot luck as to whether you go when it's busy or been busy.

Stopped here for food last night with my partner. As a coeliac it was so appreciated that they both have plenty of gluten free options and they also explained in their menu that they had a gluten free fryer/ingredients/chef etc. Delicious food, lovely staff, great price and a nice atmosphere. Fish wasn't nice at all very greasy was my first time want rush to go back,

So did book a table for two but wasn't asked told to sit down. As sat there noticed it was slightly busy but looked very understaffed for a Friday night. Got to table by bar where you order food and drinks, end of bar full of empty glasses, so looked at menu and was pleasantly surprised but choice. Went to bar to order which was OK, sat back down and waited,and waited and waited. Only noticed 3 wait staff and 1 at bar. Tables around us was covered in dirty plates, other tables around us was getting food, overheard a few complaints. Noticed alot of cooked food ready to go to customers on the side and orders bells being rung, also noticed that wait staff was milling about with no urgency while food was waiting to go to customers. Got food finely was hot but very greasy asked for tartar sauce to get it but was very mayonnaise no taste of anything else. Hear reviews regarding this place but unfortunately not as good as expected, would not return.

Visited on 5th October( fireworks night). Pre booked table for 17 persons including children. Table was ready for us but downhill from there on. Ordered at the bar as required, drinks arrived quite shortly afterwards but still waiting for food over an hour later!!! Not enough staff working. It was obvious due to fireworks that they were going to be busy so why not employ extra staff. I could see into the takeaway area and it appeared that this took precedent over restaurant. Never again!!!

Absolutely amazing you offer gluten free food accredited by coeliac uk. However I can not recommend to coeliacs. I pre ordered my food due to being on a time restraint (with a cub scout pack and not being able to eat where we are staying) However, on arrival there was no clear way to let anyone know I had come to collect an order. I had to cue jump to let them know I had arrived for a collection. I had to ask another 3 times about my order and 20minutes later I got served - using the same tongs as the regular fish & chips and my box had uncooked batter on the lid. I was unable to eat the food because of it but there was no way of complaining because the staff were simply far too overstretched and busy to complain to. I may aswell have thrown that money in the bin because that's what happened to the food.

We came last night as it was busy due to fireworks which we accept the queue was an hour wait our choice . However we then waited nearly 2 hours for our food only arriving when my husband asked where it was . Unfortunately it was not worth the wait the fish was dry the chips , scampi and calamari where like rubber as if forgotten about .I am so disappointed as have been to your Cleethorpes restaurant and it is always fab ,I understand it was a busy night but surely if you wait that long the quality should be there we will not be back.

Waited an hour for 2 fish and chips. Fish was tough and chewy. Very disappointing. The award plaque on the door must be quite old.

I enjoy coming here for fish and chips, the quality is great and portions massive, always very clean and staff are friendly, only issue is it can take forever to get your food or served at times. On this occasion there was just a guy on bar and a server vs 30+ people and they were definitely overwhelmed, everyone had a long wait time. They did their best and were super kind and food amazing, I just wish they'd had more support.

Took the family for a meal, they had a range of foods to suit us all. I had a large Cod and Chips, the fish was lovely and white and just melted in my mouth, the kids had Burgers which were also amazing, nothing got left on the plates.The owner also looked after us.

Having never had nice fish and chips in Blackpool, we entered this restaurant with high hopes ,sadly, that statement remains the same. We waited half an hour after ordering for our meals to arrive ,(the pot of tea arrived after 5 mins and was cold before our food arrived), when our meals arrived the fish was dry and flaky the chips were cold, the curry sauce was more like gravy with a large amont of pepper in it and didnt taste of curry sauce and we had to ask for cutlery not a great experience.

Looks like a nice place however, staff are rude and food is served with little black hairs in it. I asked for a refund and was refused. I was offered a voucher that was sent via email, I never received it.

Had a lovely day out with my wife, went to Blackpool to see the illuminations, headed to papa's fish and chip restaurant after looking on Google to see where the best fish and chips in blackpool were. We were not disappointed, my wife opted for the fisherman's pie and I had the large cod, both with chips and garden peas and a side salad, it was superb, the staff really work hard and our food was promptly brought out to us fresh and piping hot. I wish this restaurant was in our local town ot West Bromwich I would go at least twice a month it was delicious and will definitely go there again next time we visit Blackpool, it was by far the best fish and chips we've ever had 10/10, keep up the good work papa's see you next time.

The best fish and chips I've had in years

As much as would love to give this a 5 out of 5 I can't this time just because it took a long time for my order to arrive. Now this is most likely because I ordered the vegan option and it was a Saturday so I'm not going to say that's an everyday thing. Everything else was perfect though, food was definitely hot. If you are ordering the vegan stuff and if you are with someone I feel for me it's easier to just order one because its very filling. I recommend giving it a try though

Shocking service. Meals were missing items. Attempted to rectify at start of meal but nothing was replaced. Very greasy food and very dirty glasses and cutlery, which we had to source ourselves. A refund was given for missing items but the whole meal has already been ruined. Never again and I’d say choose somewhere else to get fish and chips from in Blackpool.

Dirty floor and tables. No welcome and main doors continuly left open. Could have put up with that if that food was good. Chips were the only nice thing. Batter on the fish was floury, doughy and disgusting. Would bot recommend.

Probably the best fish and chips i have eaten . Even if the fish came from Iceland where i am sure that is there supply in Blackpool . I am so used to restaurants displaying where the fish cane from as my local restaurant can name the vessel. Might be an idea of sustainability to identify where the fush cane from.

Amazing food nice atmosphere friendly staff

Went on a Monday evening at 7pm. The place looked clean and tidy, the waitress was polite and showed us to our table. Gave us menus and told us to order at the bar whenever we were ready. The menu is a newspaper with some good stories and articles to read as well as the menu itself. I liked this. Ordered a large cod and chips with a side of tartar sauce, reasonably priced considering it's a seaside beachfront eatery. Food took average 20 mins to arrive even though the venue wasn't as busy, not the end of the world though with wait times. Food arrived, chips were lukewarm, by the time we had 5/6 mouthfuls the chips were cold, its like they had been under a hot lamp for 30 mins plus and then left to cool on the side, i did mention it but was told "they havent long been cooked" didnt want to argue as I was just hungry, fish however was lovely, crispy batter and beautiful cod. We didn't get any tartar sauce with the meal so I went up to the bar to ask, she said she would bring some over, took around 7 mins to bring it over, by then most of our meal was eaten as it was cold already and we didn't want to wait any longer. Overall, meal was okay, maybe I went on an evening where the staff in the kitchen weren't on top form.

So disappointed with our meal here. The chips were cold and burnt. They had no mushy peas and the beans were only warm. My gluten free large cod was swimming in oil. I asked if they could replate the meal they brought a cold plate to my table and I changed it myself. The oil and grease was still dripping out of the fish. We asked for a refund due to the poor standard of food. They informed us that they don't do refunds anymore since being taken over with new management now. No where does it state that they don't do refunds. It's a real shame as we have eaten at other papas before around the country and last year this one. Will not be returning to this chain of chip shops anymore real shame. The staff at the blackpool outlet just didn't care and no refund for our poor meal.

Went on Saturday 21st September fireworks were on it was really busy as we had not booked in advance,but we didn't mind waiting because the food is great value and really good. Crispy batter, lovely chips and nice sweet curry source. My I had we also went with my dad two weeks ago and it was just as good then ,we will be back for more my grandchildren even enjoyed who are 3 and 6 .great food,great service and nothing is to much to ask. Keep up the good work guys.

Food lovely service not so good

Great place for fish and chips by the sea. Med Haddock and chips , which looked great and tasted amazing. Huge portions couldn’t eat all the chips . Great waiter running around like a blue ass fly . Definitely recommend
