Waited an hour for 2 fish and chips. Fish was tough and chewy. Very disappointing. The award plaque on the door must be quite old.

I enjoy coming here for fish and chips, the quality is great and portions massive, always very clean and staff are friendly, only issue is it can take forever to get your food or served at times. On this occasion there was just a guy on bar and a server vs 30+ people and they were definitely overwhelmed, everyone had a long wait time. They did their best and were super kind and food amazing, I just wish they'd had more support.

Took the family for a meal, they had a range of foods to suit us all. I had a large Cod and Chips, the fish was lovely and white and just melted in my mouth, the kids had Burgers which were also amazing, nothing got left on the plates.The owner also looked after us.

Having never had nice fish and chips in Blackpool, we entered this restaurant with high hopes ,sadly, that statement remains the same. We waited half an hour after ordering for our meals to arrive ,(the pot of tea arrived after 5 mins and was cold before our food arrived), when our meals arrived the fish was dry and flaky the chips were cold, the curry sauce was more like gravy with a large amont of pepper in it and didnt taste of curry sauce and we had to ask for cutlery not a great experience.

Looks like a nice place however, staff are rude and food is served with little black hairs in it. I asked for a refund and was refused. I was offered a voucher that was sent via email, I never received it.

Had a lovely day out with my wife, went to Blackpool to see the illuminations, headed to papa's fish and chip restaurant after looking on Google to see where the best fish and chips in blackpool were. We were not disappointed, my wife opted for the fisherman's pie and I had the large cod, both with chips and garden peas and a side salad, it was superb, the staff really work hard and our food was promptly brought out to us fresh and piping hot. I wish this restaurant was in our local town ot West Bromwich I would go at least twice a month it was delicious and will definitely go there again next time we visit Blackpool, it was by far the best fish and chips we've ever had 10/10, keep up the good work papa's see you next time.

Didn't get the meal we ordered,the fish we were served was excellent but the chips were very substandard cold and gave the impression they had been standing for while,not impressed at all

Dirty floor and tables. No welcome and main doors continuly left open. Could have put up with that if that food was good. Chips were the only nice thing. Batter on the fish was floury, doughy and disgusting. Would bot recommend.

Shocking service. Meals were missing items. Attempted to rectify at start of meal but nothing was replaced. Very greasy food and very dirty glasses and cutlery, which we had to source ourselves. A refund was given for missing items but the whole meal has already been ruined. Never again and I’d say choose somewhere else to get fish and chips from in Blackpool.

As much as would love to give this a 5 out of 5 I can't this time just because it took a long time for my order to arrive. Now this is most likely because I ordered the vegan option and it was a Saturday so I'm not going to say that's an everyday thing. Everything else was perfect though, food was definitely hot. If you are ordering the vegan stuff and if you are with someone I feel for me it's easier to just order one because its very filling. I recommend giving it a try though

Probably the best fish and chips i have eaten . Even if the fish came from Iceland where i am sure that is there supply in Blackpool . I am so used to restaurants displaying where the fish cane from as my local restaurant can name the vessel. Might be an idea of sustainability to identify where the fush cane from.

Went on a Monday evening at 7pm. The place looked clean and tidy, the waitress was polite and showed us to our table. Gave us menus and told us to order at the bar whenever we were ready. The menu is a newspaper with some good stories and articles to read as well as the menu itself. I liked this. Ordered a large cod and chips with a side of tartar sauce, reasonably priced considering it's a seaside beachfront eatery. Food took average 20 mins to arrive even though the venue wasn't as busy, not the end of the world though with wait times. Food arrived, chips were lukewarm, by the time we had 5/6 mouthfuls the chips were cold, its like they had been under a hot lamp for 30 mins plus and then left to cool on the side, i did mention it but was told "they havent long been cooked" didnt want to argue as I was just hungry, fish however was lovely, crispy batter and beautiful cod. We didn't get any tartar sauce with the meal so I went up to the bar to ask, she said she would bring some over, took around 7 mins to bring it over, by then most of our meal was eaten as it was cold already and we didn't want to wait any longer. Overall, meal was okay, maybe I went on an evening where the staff in the kitchen weren't on top form.

Amazing food nice atmosphere friendly staff

So disappointed with our meal here. The chips were cold and burnt. They had no mushy peas and the beans were only warm. My gluten free large cod was swimming in oil. I asked if they could replate the meal they brought a cold plate to my table and I changed it myself. The oil and grease was still dripping out of the fish. We asked for a refund due to the poor standard of food. They informed us that they don't do refunds anymore since being taken over with new management now. No where does it state that they don't do refunds. It's a real shame as we have eaten at other papas before around the country and last year this one. Will not be returning to this chain of chip shops anymore real shame. The staff at the blackpool outlet just didn't care and no refund for our poor meal.

Went on Saturday 21st September fireworks were on it was really busy as we had not booked in advance,but we didn't mind waiting because the food is great value and really good. Crispy batter, lovely chips and nice sweet curry source. My I had we also went with my dad two weeks ago and it was just as good then ,we will be back for more my grandchildren even enjoyed who are 3 and 6 .great food,great service and nothing is to much to ask. Keep up the good work guys.

Great place for fish and chips by the sea. Med Haddock and chips , which looked great and tasted amazing. Huge portions couldn’t eat all the chips . Great waiter running around like a blue ass fly . Definitely recommend

Simply the best fish and chips I’ve ever had! By a long way! Arrived on a quiet Monday afternoon to a friendly welcome from Paulo , really nice looking restaurant on a prominent spot Enjoyed a lovely pint of Worthingtons , washing down some sensational halloumi bits Then the main meal, oh my days! The flakiest, meatiest haddock wrapped in light crispy batter served with clean and perfect chips and mushy peas Finished off with a battered mars bar and I’ve cream, a first for me! So good!! Absolutely loved it and as an expat visiting the area, exactly what I needed! To put it simply, just go!

On a blustery Blackpool day (are there any others) we went for a fish and chip lunch. My wife is a celiac so we went mainly for her. She loved her fish and chips, be warned though only the large is offered GF which meant a lot got wasted. It's a shame they don't offer all three sizes in non-gluten batter. The mushy peas were brilliant too.

Went there tonight 13/9/24 table of 9 the kitchen manager was absolutely brilliant he openned side doors as wife in a wheelchair. He was so very helpful and professional. The food was excellent the fish was so fresh. We were served very quickly and we were made to feel very welcome by all the staff. Definitely highly recommend we will be back again Thank you all for the excellent food and service

We went in and it was very busy you have to order at the bar. The service was excellent and very quick and helpful. I have coeliac disease. My gluten-free fish and chips were magnificent and so very tasty I was really happy and had no ill effects afterwards.

Went to Blackpool to see illuminations, with family, there were 4 of us. Darren, front of house, was great at his job, his service was top class, very attentive. Jay who served us was also excellent at his job. The atmosphere in the restaurant was great, friendly, happy staff. Food was excellent, very generous portions. Would go back.

I went there just before the switch on so it was incredibly busy however David (dyed hair) managed to get us seated and was very friendly and attentive to whatever we needed! Honestly the best customer service I’ve ever had and will definitely be going back from that alone! Food was great and it is in such a prime spot.

Been today for fish and chips. Manager in charge today Darren was brilliant lovely character so friendly and put us at ease for my daughter to have fish and chips because she's got coeliac and needs gluten free. He was very knowledgeable and to be able to have the vinegar too was a brilliant touch 😁

Ordered fish salad and Scampi & Chips. The place was not busy yet the order took 40mins to arrive. When it did it was wrong. We were short changed on the scampi, with only 8 small pieces, then of those only 4 were edible. The rest were a bit rancid in taste. On a positive note the fish was good, as was the girl serving us. All in all not a great experience.

Darren was a lovely guy looked after us with great service, ensured the food came out in a time manner and kept checking on us to see if we needed any additional items. Highly recommend eating here. All staff were really helpful.

We had lunch here for our little girls birthday and it was lovely hot and fresh. Amazing that they cater for vegans and gluten free diet. Our waitress Carol Ann was lovely and whilst she was really busy with food and drinks orders she was so friendly and chatty. Can't wait to come back.

Excellent fish and chips at this historic chippy

Had a medium haddock & chips. It was served piping hot - just the way I like it. The fish was really tasty. Staff friendly and the standard of service was good. Enjoyed the airiness of the place and we enjoyed the music too!

Beautiful gluten free fish and chips.

The food was terrible. The mushy peas could be sliced they were so thick, they made my mum's mouth sting I think they used too much bicarb. The curry tasted really strong, the fish and chips were bland and the vinegar was strangely watered down. Kept putting it on my food but couldn't taste it. Began to panick I'd got covid but no one else could taste it either. Service was rubbish, there was a long wait at the till no apology & the one man didn't even smile or say hello. Asked for cokes not offered a size and given large and charged for large as default. Definitely won't go back

My grandson and I have been here twice this week as the battered tofu is amazing. Tonight was so busy due to the illumination turn on. But we were seated quickly. The staff are lovely a Darren went above and beyond to make us feel looked after, even giving my grandson a free dessert to make up for the wait for food. He is a gem.

I popped by the restaurant on a quiet weekday, so it wasn't too busy and had a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. There was a chap named Darren and a friendly lady who were both very welcoming, polite and attentive. Their excellent service made the visit an absolute delight. I'll certainly be back again!

Fantastic lovely fish & chips personally the best

Second visit here. First being two years ago and still same great service and food. Price wise its really decent considering what some other places charge. Unsure of same lad working there but lad with tattoos doing front of house was really attentive and helpful.

Christine and martin looked after us today and served us with the most amazing food! Christine even asked us if we needed a box for our leftovers for the kids! On top of that we needed a gluten free option for my coeliac neice and they delivered the freshest fish ever! Thanks guys we will absolutely be back again!

One of the locals suggested us this restaurant for good fish and chips around Blackpool. They have different thickness for the batter of the fish and can also choose size of the fish as well. We weren't too hungry so had regular size cod fish and scampi. Ambience is good and parking available on street.

Staff great. Food luke warm at best. I would imagine had the food been hot it would've been good.

Food was way overpriced for what it was. It's more about getting more customers now than the quality of the food and the self order kiosks, you put Notes on and they aren't even read by the team so there's no point to that

Can never knock the food in papas however i find no matter which one i visit the standards of cleanliness could be so much better..tables are always dirty and glassware is always filthy wether its drinks glasses or mirrors they are atrocious! If its ment to be the best fish and chips you could at least make it the best restaurant to match!

Daz who served us was very welcoming and helpful, the food was fantastic, highly recommend a visit, Hull pattie with the seafood sharer was amazing. My son has a severe milk allergy and they went out of their way to ensure that he felt assured that the food was safe for him.

Had lunch in Blackpool Pappa's,we were a party of 12.The food was lovly service was excellent. A clean restaurant but wouldn't expect anything else ,we always use papa's wen in Cleethorpes.

Had a lovely meal in Papa's while visiting Blackpool for a couple of days along with our 7 year old granddaughter. Darren the host made us feel very welcome, along with providing a bit of history to the restaurant. Food was excellent and all the staff were helpful and friendly. Top marks. Tommy and Anne

Went on Saturday after the Airshow extremely busy and there was 8 of us and a highchair. The guy on the door Darren was straight over and put 3 tables together to accommodate us. He was so helpful and made sure we was happy with all our food. Food was great and plenty of it. Definitely go again.

All the staff are so lovely and helpful, especially Carolann and Lauren. There were 12 of us in total and nothing was too much trouble for them. Food came out fast and hot and we were asked several times if everything was okay with our food. Will definitely come back here again.

Went today with my husband and for starters we’re not treated greatly we both work in customer service so understand the struggle but when our drink arrived (Pepsi and carling) the Pepsi had a single piece of shaven ice that quite frankly looks so unappealing and the calling was flat warm no head and was obvious no one’s done a line clean in a while again we understood and kept our mouths shut food took 36 minutes to arrive and when it did after openly sitting under the heat lamps for five minutes as staff talked infront of it it was finally brought to us the dishes (a large fish and chips and a stake and ale pie) the chips were stale and either pure batter and chewy hard to the bite almost inedible and freezing cold the pie was dry and the gravy resembled jelly and must have been microwaved for less than ten seconds with it barely being warm the fish was tiny (a Wetherspoons kids size for comparison) and was brought missing the sauce we had to ask for cutlery and didn’t receive napkins from the waiters who dumped them on the table before not even stopping to run of. It took us five minutes to work up the courage to go and ask for some service on all this and when we did the manager very politely came straight away when he looked at the dishes he picked them up and even mistook the fish for a “medium or a small” when we told him it was meant to be a large he looked slightly confused at this point we didn’t want to stay as it was just not worth the time or money so I asked for a refund wich I was told wasn’t an option but we could have a recoil as I didn’t want to be out the money we stayed. When the food came back the chips were a lot better but the size of the fish was the exact same being slightly longer but ten times thinner it only took twenty five minutes to receive the recook we were given a couple free drinks the Pepsis while still flat and with a horrid ratio of soda to premix did have ice but weirdly was in a Guinea glass (doesn’t matter but strange) and a peroni was actually cold had the right head and tasted how peroni should taste (honestly shocked at this but no complaints there obviously) the pie wasn’t over cooked and bone dry this time but was still doughy tough to chew and just honestly not worth it but again didn’t want to be out the money I don’t understand why a refund wasn’t possible as any cheap beachside fish and chip shop would have been a more pleasurable lighting even if we had of been attacked by seagulls I would have had a smile on my face to have been out of there we once again had to ask for the missing sauces that were meant to come with the dishes (tartar sauce) and had to ask for cutlery again but again we didn’t get the chance to ask for napkins as the delivery of throwing down the cutlery was a literal drive by. Having worked in hospitality we both found it kinda odd and frankly rude when every single table in the resteraunt got a check back and constant smiles didn’t appreciate the waitress walking round with her cape in her hand either honestly didn’t find it cleanly no one came back to check if the food wasn’t ineadible once again wich is odd with the amount of attention every other table got but when I politely told them about the situation being the person that complained got us neglected and all together avoided while I do appreciate the attention to detail the re cook go having seen the manager in the kitchen and making sure the food didn’t loose all moistness under the heat lamp was very nice and what’s expected in this industry very obviously wouldn’t recommend was a horrible atmosphere very unwelcoming but when I’m paying for a service and food and you take a service charge I quite honestly expect some level of service not a menus made out of paper (which although looked nice) had yellow stains from god knows what and a unclean unset up table and to be blatantly ignored. Don’t go!!

Whilst in Blackpool, wanted to try the 'Tofish' and chips but wasn't overly impressed. Tasted like it was just battered and fried Tofu without any flavouring to imitate the fish taste.

Horrible service, if you fly to France and eat fish you can have your meal faster. Waiting 40 mins to get fish.

We were disappointed with our visit to the Papas takeaway. One of our favourite YouTubers had said it was somewhere to try and whilst we were in the area, we did. We visited mid week at about 5pm, first thing off-putting was how dirty inside was. The tables were covered in empty meals and other rubbish as was the floor inside. The servers side floor was also littered with fallen foodstuff. Not a great first impression. We were not greeted by anyone when we came in, just a young lad behind the far counters who looked incredibly fed up. No acknowledgement when we said hello. Food is ordered by touch screen and it was only after this did we get any kind of acknowledgement. Had to go hunting for salt and vinegar as wasn't at the counters. The food itself is very reasonable priced, that we can't fault but the fish was overly greasy and left a bad after taste. It was on a whole massively disapoining especially for peak season and prime location. We wouldn't come back I'm afraid.

Papa's was a random choice for a dinner stop, the service and atmosphere with the traditional newspaper style menu was a nice touch, the fish and chips was fantastic, kids also like theirs, burger was fryed and over cooked so i wouldn't recommend that, but the chips were so clean and fresh tasting, probably some of the best i have had. Curry sauce was more of a sweet sauce but was still nice. All in all, i still would give Papa's 5* the staff were all friendly and helpful

Visited today for the first time and had a lovely meal. We were taken care of by Darren and Alfie, both members of staff are a credit to this restaurant. Very friendly, a warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble. I must add that Alfie was a fairly new member of staff and he did a wonderful job of looking after us and all with a smile. The food was fresh and tasted great. I was surprised to have a vegan option on the menu Tofish and Chips and it was very tasty, they also offer battered halloumi for vegetarian guests. The restaurant is clean and modern looking, it is a short walk from Blackpool tower overlooking the seafront. We will definitely be back when in Blackpool in the future.

Great chippy! Probably one of the best I've been to! I've lived in Blackpool prior but as a local you don't come to the centre unless out of season.. this however was a pleasure! I would recommend here good portions and it helped the sun was shining 😉

Went yesterday as we LOVE this place for our fish & chips when in Blackpool it's amazing and really good size portions. We was greated by a lovely lad called Darren who couldn't do anymore for us he was amazing, super polite and attentive. We left our baby bottle and he ran after us so we didn't loose it great staff member thank you Darren. Looking forward to coming back! 😊

They advertise as the best fish and chips in Britain. A bold statement, but a correct one. The haddock was perfect, crisp and flaky. No bones. Great.chips and the best curry sauce ever!!! There is a lot of choice in Blackpool but this would be tough to beat

Both myself and my wife had the large cod and chips, we both enjoyed them the fish was delicious and the batter was lovely and crispy, service was quick and efficient and the staff were friendly and pleasant, will definitely be returning, best fish and chips in Blackpool.

We were very pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the prices were for what we felt was a rather grand setting. Staff really friendly and loved the menus which are like a newspaper. Food was excellent with a good selection of items and great drinks menu too. A special mention for Carolann our lovely waitress who looked after us really well and was so good with our Grandson.

Quite nice dining experience but it looked like alot of the staff had called in sick so staff were pretty stressed. All In all pretty decent.

Visited here last year and it was not so good gave it another try this year and they’ve turned the place around my partner and I had the large fish and chips my partner really enjoyed it was the best fish he had tasted in a long time. The manager really looked after us from start to finish did a great job .The restaurant is cleaner than last year even the toilets . It was my partner birthday and he really enjoyed his lunch .keep it up Papa’s.This is our opinion everyone has a different opinion
