Bellamy's Fish Bar in Blackpool

What was & still known by many as " The Middle Chippy." Has much improved since the change over of owners. The fish & Chips were great. It's a really light & crispy battery on a nice piece of Haddock. A sizable portion of chips cooked well & I indulged in a sauce boat of Chip Shop Curry Sauce that was mild of heat but packed with flavour. I will certainly be going back again & pointing people in their direction. Nice one.

Been here twice now & wouldn’t want to go anywhere else when in the area. Fresh fish & chips were absolutely delicious. Staff so friendly too. We will be back!

We are visiting the UK from Canada. On previous trips we have eaten at various fish and chip restaurants. Last week we stumbled upon Middle Chippy. Truly amazing food and very friendly service.Spotless restaurant. Do not hesitate to eat here. We will be back to this 5 star Chippy before we leave Blackpool for other parts of UK

Staying in Bispham for the fireworks championships, we were told of this place by our host, Annette at Hesketh hotel. The food is fresh and great quality, the staff are lovely. I don’t have a large appetite and they served me a small meal which was just as good as the regular meal that my partner had. Beautiful fresh fish and proper chips. Definitely one to try

Really good fish and chips. The chips are tasty and the batter on the fish(which is chunky and flakey) is fantastic. Crispy and light, how it should be.

Very disappointing the driest inedible fish i have ever had, £3.50 for large chips which was more like a medium size, curry sauce tasteless This used to be a good chippy but not now i wont be back

I spent £18 on 2 fish which were delicious but the chips were awful....dark in colour and soggy too. Such a shame.

Always beautiful fresh food at a reasonable price. Now the only local chippy we use. Staff are always happy and helpful.

Lovely fat pieces of fish in quite a light crispy batter. Chunky homemade chips. Cooked to order so lovely and fresh. A little on the pricey side but good quality.

The place is cozy, the food is very good, the service is excellent, it was a very good experience, I will return when I return to Blackpool.

This is the best fish and chip shop in Blackpool - without a doubt. I regularly buy takeaway fish and chips for family and friends when they visit and they all rate bellamy's as the best they have tasted, particularly the cod and the peas. Thoroughly recommended.

This is only my second visit here since moving to the area, I have to say the fish & chips are perfect. I am VERY fussy and my fish has to be very well done! After speaking to the lad frying he cooked it to perfection. So many places advertise as selling the best fish & chips, but none so far have compared to here!! Thanks again and definatley see you soon and of course I will be telling everyone where to come for their fish & chips.

I use this chippy regularly. Staff are friendly, the food is cooked to perfection. Would always recommend this chippy. Best in Bispham as far as I'm concerned

Awful. Very small portions. Had a couple of raw chips in it. Asked for gravy got hardly any put on. Very very average. Definitely much better out there

Chips were stuck together and were warm at best. Not the usual standard we are used to. Be a long time before we go back.

Considering Blackpool was hammered with people for the firework championships, the food was spot on, gravy is immense. Must've been 25+ people in waiting. Took an age to be served, but worth the wait, friendly happy smiling staff unlike the chippy further up the road near the prom. Will definitely call again.

ever since it was taken over the chips are awful--used to be brown and tasty--now they are white and tasteless-not cooked properly----i wish it hadnt have been taken over-will owner take any notice? no meat and potato pie cooked in microwave

Bloody awful took pictures chips soggy Gill of grease fish over cooked and hard couldn't eat it. I will never go again £13.50 for the worse meal ever.

Ordered the standard portions of fish and chips. They were really tasty and the portions were very generous, we could easily have managed with one between 2! Will definitely return.

Chips undercooked, cheap jumbo sausage and a warm can of pop from the fridge that's not even turned on stay away don't waste your money 🤑

Great fish and chips since being taken over. Fish is always lovely and fresh and loads of chips. You do have to wait as fish is cooked to order. Never greasy, even after taking them home in the car. My favourite chip shop in Bispham.

Love, love, love this chippy. Run by lovely, friendly people. The homemade steak pudding is so good it will have you questioning your spiritual beliefs. I enjoy lightly battered fish and the guy at the frier is an artisan in this regard. Even at its busiest, and it does get super busy, service is always mega efficient and comes with a smile. Definitely the best chippy for miles around. 😊

This is and has been Bellamy's fish bar tor quite some time now, and it's still as good as ever Well, we've found another good chippy to replace the one I USED to go to. It's fantastic when I find a chippy that cook's chips correctly and the fish is also excellent too. I look forward to our next visit (Saturday) and enjoy the really good, perfectly cooked food. The chippy I used to go to was actually Bellamy's when he was in Carleton.

Fish and chips were OK,nothing out of the ordinary, not as good as it used to be since being taken over.

Great fish and chips (each in three sizes) cooked to order. Good prices and excellent curry sauce. Helpful staff who know what they're doing. We live 30 miles away and go every year on our way to the Illuminations, which has its northerly end at the end of the road, one minute's drive away.

We travel from Liverpool and its WELL WORTH THE TRIP, super hot haddock and chips, pleasant staff deffo worth a visit..

Absolutely horrible. Could be juste being picky, because my family likes this place but me and my partner hate it. The chips are always soaked in grease yet somehow hard as a rock. the gravy is usually tasteless. The sausages are not the best tasting either. Always used to be the last place of choice to order. Staff sometimes nice sometimes more of a not caring attitude, depends on the days i guess. but there are better options around than this.

Excellent chippy. First rate fish, crispy batter. Sausages are great. Chips nicely cooked and plenty of them. Staff are lovely and friendly. Restaurant on premises if you want to eat in. Highly recommended 👍

We ate in the dining room. The fish and chips with mushy peas were delicious, the batter was really light and crispy. Would definitely recommend this place.

Came across this chippy by accident on the way home from Blackpool, best stop I made, best Fish and Chips we've had in a long time, had to wait a while as the place is obviously very popular

Really good quality food. We visited on a Saturday and they had run out of some fish and sizes. Fish cooked fresh so there is a bit of a wait but much better than the Top Chippy in terms of quality and value. Worth the few minutes walk down from the Prom and you can eat in if you like

Due health problem, nit been to Bellamys for just about a year, drove from Liverpool and arrived around 1715. Went in and ordered an xlarge haddock and large chips x 2. Waited about 15 mins, shop was full,my 2 fish freshly cooked, 10 gold stars for that!!!! The haddock was a small whale I am sure, Golden paper thin crispy batter over amazing haddock which was red hot, Chips, roasting hot and golden brown. Best fish and chip shop in North West. Staff are so friendly, you could eat off the floor. WELL DONE BELLAMYS, it's well worth a 130 mile round trip for your food...

Lovely place for fish and chips! I was standing outside a different fish and chip shop and a local walked past and said, "Bellamy's is much better!" and pointed me down the road. I'm glad I listened to him because Bellamy's is a great fish and chip shop with super friendly staff with great senses of humour. It's just a short walk from the start of the Illuminations so we had a little walk and sat on a bench watching the sunset and lights as we ate. If you're in the area I'd definitely visit this place if you fancy fish and chips. Visited on 28th October 2022.

Food superb, fresh hot delicious fish,chips not greasy. Served by lovely friendly young lady. Only fault was the seating area was very cold and draughty, the lady closed the back door when I asked, much warmer.

Appalling service food isn’t much better. I went for fish & chips and after 25 mins waiting and other customers coming & going I asked where my order was and to be told it nearly done. It was nearly done the lad behind the counter had lost my order. I left very disappointed I wouldn’t recommend this place and I will never return again. My advice to anyone reading this would be done waste your time and money because you will be disappointed. Just go a litter further down the road and you will find 2 other nicer chippys.

Went here having seen que's at other chippys. Does eat in and take away options, we choice to eat in. The area was small but the service was quick, enjoyed a really good fish/chips & peas meal with a loverly pot of tea. LOVERLY.

We were going to Bispham to visit our regular chippy and a local said we should try here instead. They were right lightly battered haddock, perfect mushy peas. Our only complaint. The small portion of chips was far too generous

Good food well cooked great service at a reasonable price

We came here after Riding the Lights. It’s the first time I’ve been in years and saw it had a new name. The peas were delicious and well seasoned with pepper. The fish was great with lovely crispy batter. Nice friendly staff too.

Pretty average chippy, not a patch on their Great Eccelston branch though. I know fish prices have gone through the roof, but it was a very small fillet, not entirely convinced it was haddock.

This four star rating was given when the business was The Middle Chippie. It certainly was not for Ballamys Fish Bar

Always good well cooked food. Friendly staff and good prices. Usually phone my order through and walk down to collect and it's ready very quickly. It will always be the "Middle Chippy" to me but Bellamy's is a good name.

First time trying since it was the old chippy. The fish & chips were really good and I couldn't fault it. The chips were so good, I just didn't like the peas. Can't wait to try again. Also I think this is one of the cleanest chippy I've ever been in 😊

Dined inside for first time.Nice clean well laid out dining room.The Haddock and Chips were one of the best (if not the best) I have had in Blackpool,Cleveleys and Fleetwood in 15 years.Like any natural product all fish can be variable so it is understandable if quality can vary but the fact that they cook the fish properly and don't leave it floating in oil on the plate as some do,it does help consistently.I highly recommend. Sadly since Bellamy's took over in october the standard has plummeted.I waited 20 minutes until 12 for my order to start cooking and another time it took 20 minutes and I was alone in the dining room! I tried the Hake and left it as it was like cardboard.They promised a refund which I did not get.Quality is down BUT the prices went up!

Best fish and chips I've had for years. The batter on the fish is very light and the fish cooked to perfection, chips excellent too. We ate in the dining room which was clean bright, warm and cosy. Very friendly and welcoming staff with speedy service.

You know when a chippy needs avoiding when they charge for a plastic fork. I only visited because I had no other option and won't be visiting again.

70 miles to come to Bellamys red Bank Rd, Blackpool and well worth the trip, yet again beautifully cooked piping hot fish n chips with B n Butter... excellent. Staff so friendly too... be back soon thank you

We have visited this cafe annually when it was known as The Middle Chippy when visiting Blackpool with friends to see the Illuminations. It was always really busy and great value for money. We visited on a Saturday evening at 5.45 and the cafe was empty. We were so surprised and a little cautious as to why it was empty on a Saturday evening. The menu has changed and it is now a licenced cafe. The fish and chip special has gone from the menu which was really good value. It is now more expensive to order fish and chips. The take away section appeared relatively busy with a continuous stream of people. The young girl waiting on was pleasent and we didn't have long to wait for our orders. The fish and chips were lovely and non greasy. Just a shame you now have to pay more. Inside the cafe it hasn't changed with the same basic tables and chairs and dated decor so it's not as if you are paying extra for your surroundings. Would we visit again? Probably, but it wouldn't be our first choice anymore. There is a toilet but it is outside in a little outhouse and I'm told there is no hand basin. We went across the road to Sainsburys to use their facilities.

Decided to try this place instead of bispham kitchen as the queues there were so long. What a good choice! Excellent fish in light batter, lovely chips, nice and clean cafe, friendly service. Last time we went to bispham kitchen it was packed out, rushed and not that clean. This place is our new favourite
