Roadhouse in City of London, Westminster

Our server was lovely but the overall experience was very bad. They hadn't turned the taps on in the bathroom so I couldn't wash my hands and had to find someone to activate them. The front doors were left wide open so the entire restaurant was freezing. Our nachos came out ice cold and I had to send my mac and cheese back as it tasted terrible. I don't normally do that or write bad reviews but this was an exception.

So i got vouchers from an app called living social.. "Three-course dining for two, a cocktail each and club entry at Roadhouse, Covent Garden (was £84) Price:£21.00" .. I thought £21 each for food, cocktail and some entertainment really wasn't anything to grumble about, and I guess that's still the case but I don't think we'd return in a massive hurry.You don't get any option in relation to the starter.. its a sharing platter for two including chicken wings, cauliflower, nachos and jalapeno poppers. The nachos were really not all that (and i normally love nachos) they were bland and quite tasteless. My partner ordered chicken under a brick which came with roast potatoes and chicken gravy. The potatoes were a little over seasoned but there was definitely a good portion size! I had the salmon, the salmon itself was nice but there was a bit too much cous cous accompanying it. Finally the desserts, you get a choice between two.. i opted for the banana and baileys sundae and my partner had the brownie. There was a tiny bit of banana at the bottom of my sundae and i could not find any baileys. Despite that it was alright. The meal came with a gin garden cocktail, which was full of ice with a very small amount of fluid. However, they had 2 for 1 on cocktails when we arrived so we purchased 1 (2) each at £9 a go. As we had paid for our voucher initially when we requested the bill we expected £18 to be the sum, however we were wrong.. £23 (summet) later we realised they added on a 12.5% service charge.. which resulted in being over a fiver! This 100% is not worth the £84 each it claimed to be initially prior to purchasing the voucher.

We arrived at the restaurant just before 6pm for the table we had book for my friends birthday at 6pm. The door was closed and a guy who sitting at the podium just shouted through that it did not open until 6:30pm. I was trying to understand if there was another entrance if you have an earlier dinner booking but he just went, “I am the security guard, not the manager.” Which obviously didn’t answer my question, I was very confused. So we were turned away in the middle of Covent Garden on a Saturday evening trying to find a different restaurant to go and celebrate my friend’s birthday. What made matters 10 times worse was when I received an email from OpenTable (who I booked the table through) to say that Roadhouse had reported me as a “no show”. I did show, I WANTED to eat and drink cocktails there but I was turned away! I was not impressed to say the least.

Had a great night here due to the fun karaoke and great group of people I was with. However the drinks that I had were of dubious quality. My second drink - a vodka lime and soda tasted solely of soda. When I spoke to the barman about this he shrugged and said that it had probably had a lot of ice in it which had melted and weakened the flavour. I explained that I had only just received the drink and that you could still see the ice in it, he then told me that I hadn’t listened to him and repeated the same story. At no point did he offer to sort out the issue. Watch how your drink is made!

We had a fun night but probably landed up too early! Everything started getting going at 10.45 pm. The drinks were great. The nachos were a huge helping so didn't really manage to eat anything else.

A night out with friends was ruined by terrible customer service. The staff are unbelievably rude. The cloakroom lost my coat and kept trying to give me someone else’s! They insisted I must have ‘swapped my ticket with someone’ and did not accept any responsibility. Would not go back.

Absolutely loved this place when i went to this club there was a band playing there was great entertainment.

I've been meaning to leave a review for a while, visited during the summer. Absolutely fantastic place, possibly top club in London depending on what you're looking for.

We went to Australia Day last weekend and it was really great. They have good beers and good drinks (like the gin and tonic). Very fun place and I will def come back.

Really great atmosphere & service ! We had a Wowcher deal 3 course meal with free cocktails.It was our first time to roadhouse and we were escorted to our table by a courteous lady! My only disappointment were the bartender , his attitude and his cocktails. We ordered 4 cocktails each from the 2for1 menu. He asked my partner to drink the first cocktail and come for more. My partner said no we wd rather have the drinks together as it was almost finishing time for the 2for1 offer. The bartender showed his disapproval and looked agitated and made are drinks with much annoyance ! We have gone to many places and staff are always courteous and welcoming . Specially the bartenders/mixologist. The drinks were really bad apart from the old fashioned. The mango daiquiri tasted like old cordial and was terrible. We asked the lady who served us if we could change it as it was horrible. I had sipped one and pnr was untouched. She came back saying the manager had rejected it saying it was 2for1. We spent almost £100 that night and you couldn’t change our drinks bcos they were 2for1? ? Would you rather get unsatisfied customers spreading the word?? What is it got to do with a 2for1 deal? Did it mean the standard of the deal is different to a normal fully paid cocktail ? I really did want to speak to the manager. But then I thought why I wd Want to spoil my evening over a cocktail. The food was amazing and the free cocktail (the gin garden )was amazing and made to perfection. Just be aware of the bartender with a negative attitude and the 2for1 cocktails. I believe it’s made in a cheap form and also depending on the bartenders mood. I do hope the management looks into this. It’s such a wonderful place to lose the mood over one person & his attitude.

En riktigt trevlig klubb nära Covent Garden. Bra spridning på besökarnas ålder/stil etc, inte för fint och heller inte motsatsen. Livemusik med fokus på gamla slagkraftiga klassiker. Inte för dyrt inträde heller, har för mig det kostade ca 10 pund och det var det värt. Vi tyckte det var så kul att vi gick hit två kvällar av tre möjliga.

Roadhouse es muy accesible cuando estás en Covent Garden, ya que está justo al lado. Es un club nocturno y un restaurante durante las primeras horas de la noche. La comida era deliciosa y superó las expectativas. Fue un muy buen servicio de una dama encantadora. La banda comenzó a tocar antes de lo que nos informaron, así que fue una ventaja. La gente se agolpaba en la pista de baile. Tuvimos una buena tarde.

Sono andata al locale con un voucher scontato per una cena a due portate. Non avevo grosse aspettative, considerata la cifra pagata, sono rimasta piacevolmente sorpresa :locale particolare, servizio veloce e cibo abbondante e buono (il salmone grigliato era molto buono, lo stesso vale per il pollo ed i dolci). Ci hanno portato, secondo me in più, anche un piatto di antipasti da dividere (nachos). Il menù è vero non era molto vario ma più che soddisfacente. Il nostro cocktail invece era quasi tutto ghiaccio ma forse dipende dalla cifra super scontata che abbiamo pagato. Purtroppo dopo cena siamo dovuti andare via e non abbiamo potuto assistere alla musica dal vivo che stava x iniziare, sarà per la prossima volta

Roadhouse absolutely rocks! We always take out of town friends here and it always leaves them saying, "OMG this place is amazing". The bands are first class and so is the sound system and stage. Together they're guaranteed to get you singing at the top of your voice to your favourite classics. The decor is well thought out and always incredibly maintained, people are there to have a good time, not cause trouble or pose - you'll often find yourself jumping up and down, arm in arm with complete strangers to Bon Jovi. The bar staff are like something out of the movie "Cocktail" - I actually have no idea how they do it. Drinks are reasonably priced (as is the entrance fee) for what you get. Although it may look like there are loads of people at the bar, your'e never waiting long because of the excellent bar staff. Bouncers are always friendly and not intrusive or aggressive - they just want everyone to have a great night. It's perfect for large groups, work night outs, showing off London to your out of town friends or actually just you and a mate/partner. I can't recommend this place highly enough but do book in advance if you can.

Fantastic venue and service was excellent too, drinks were a tad expensive though ... but apart from that cant fault Roadhouse.

Having attended this venue as part of a group company xmas party, three of us were ejected due to an unknown member of the public accessing the venue by vaulting the security barriers. Despite informing the security team that this person was neither known to us nor a part of our group, three members of the group (Who were innocently smoking outside) were involved by the security team and all of us ejected without any information, despite several requests to explain their actions.

Enjoyable atmosphere and some nice food including chicken pieces and fresh cooked fries. Cocktails were 2 for 1 with no exceptions. Well located in Covent Garden Piazza

Went there for some drinks back when I was 18, first time having cocktail's and it was a great experience

Overall experience was good. Roadhouse has a lovely atmosphere but was a bit too loud to be able to hold a conversation without shouting. Food was your typical diner food but there were also some healthier options. Service was very friendly and accommodating however it did take a while to flag down a waiter for the bill at the end.

Came on a Friday for after work drinks with a friend, were able to book a booth and take advantage of the great happy hour!

After a full day in a London and ending up in Covent Garden we were looking for a place where we could have evening drinks, a bite to eat and hopefully listen to live music. We did a search and The Roadhouse came up. We arrived around 7.30pm in happy hour and had a few drinks and burger/fries. The food was great, burger really tasty and plenty of fries. Perfect for soaking up the double happy hour drinks! The place had such a good vibe and friendly staff so we decided to stay for the music, (a DJ and live band) Both were fab and we were up on our feet in no time. We ended up dancing into the early hours of the morning. It didn’t matter that we missed our last train home. It was worth it. We had the best of birthdays. Thankyou Roadhouse. We’ll certainly be visiting you again.

Overall pretty good, food good. The place was quiet when we were there but around 10 pm it was loud and getting busy. Our waitress, who appeared to be very busy, needs to sort out her body odour, this is off-putting when eating.

The ambience and decor is 'American style" diner with booths and also separate tables. We had a sharing plate of nachos. It was ok. Could have been better. They should go and see how they serve nachos in Mexico! Fresh, warm and flavourful! It was my first time there, had gone with a friend for dinner. But after we got (what I can only describe as) massive plate of nachos, it became difficult for us to order any food after that. Its more foccussed on the bar, so the menu choice is limited to burgers and such like. Would I go there again? probably not.

The service was great, but I was very disappointed with the lack of gluten free options. Before choosing this place, I have checked the website for gluten free options and the website has an extensive gluten free menu, so we decided to book a table. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were told that this menu doesn't exist anymore (even though it is still online) and we were given a different one with extremely limited options. There is only one main course, which is chicken wings and even though there are a few side dishes on the menu, not all of them are available. It's a shame, because the place is lovely, but unfortunately, we were mislead by the website, hence I don't think that we will return.

I've been to Roadhouse on a number of occasions, mostly for the cocktails which are very good. The food is not bad, and is reasonably priced.

From the outside you will probably think “eek what have I booked” but inside is great. The staff are great, the cocktail menu excellent. The choice of food is limited but the taste and quality was good. We enjoyed our visit

Roadhouse is a great night out if you like live bands and a range of different music. I have been to this establishment on a number of occasions and every-time I have had a great night.

After booking roadhouse on a whim I was a bit worried for 5 peoples different taste. What can I say a lovely find and we all had a great time. Basic food choice but plenty of it and cooked well. Waitress was helpful and friendly. Not for people that like noise while eating as music was playing the whole time. Never experienced this sort of a bar before but will definitely return.

Food was fantastic and the wide range of cocktails had us spoilt for choice! We came on a Thursday and the atmosphere was great definitely somewhere you could come for after work drinks as well as food! We will be back 👏🏼

Great bar food. Value drinks with happy hours, for Covent Garden this was a really good value might out. Great atmosphere and we really enjoyed. Table is reserved for an hour and half, we were politely reminded of this- which was fine, but maybe 2 hours would be better for customers eating.

Happy hour from 5.30 to 10pm Monday to Thursday. Great service, fun environment. Wide range of cocktails and drinks and varied menu options.

Food was mediocre. Cold nachos with the starter and Luke warm chicken main course but the main problem was the very loud bar staff. They were continually shouting to each other and jeering. Throwing around cocktail shakers which would then crash on the floor. Like a bunch of kids in the playground. No wonder it was half empty inside.

We'd pre booked an area for 14 of us for dinner at the weekend and had opted for the cocktail set menu.

We have not dined here for a couple of years: it used to be a firm favourite. The menu is now less extensive but the value-for-money is still excellent and the location is ideal for a pre-theatre meal, since it is in Covent Garden near many West End venues. Our one previous grumble was that the background music used to be played over-loudly, so that conversation was difficult but this seems no longer to be a problem: note however that later in the evening there may be live music and a larger crowd, so quiet cannot be guaranteed.

Very nice place, staff very friendly, we will definitely return.

Some friends and I visited this venue on the 8th June with the hope of having some drinks as a member of our party had visited here before. We were the only people in the queue and had just seen that we had to pay £12 each for entry and were just making sure it was okay with everyone in our group. The blonde front of house lady summoned us forward with a rude hand gesture, we told her we were just deciding on whether we would be coming in or not and she rudely said “you need to pay”. We explained to her that we would be 2 minutes and we’re just deciding whether we were going to be coming in and that it wasn’t a huge issue as nobody was queuing to come in after us. She said “move to one side then”, she was being extremely rude and dismissive and asked us “are you going to let me do my job?”. We left after this as we didn’t want to give our money to somebody so rude. Will not be visiting again which is a shame because we had been recommended by somebody in our group who had a great experience before.

We booked this as our regular get together. Major downside was finding it, no signage and very few local workers could ID it. However when in what a gem. Staff excellent, food brilliant if not in a little excessive for us but many would love. Happy hour on the drinks a big hit too. Ambience was great for a meal before band and continued throughout. Would definitely return

Saw staff antagonising people, trying to remind everyone who's in charge for no reason telling a couple of people in a group to drink water, not teenagers and not doing anything wrong. Door staff coming up to people at the bar asking to see ID like the Gestapo Felt very uncomfortable Back to Dirty Martinis where the staff are friendly and people are enjoying themselves

Visited this nightclub/resteraunt for a hen do of about 13 of us! The staff were very much on hand and service was very quick. Food is what you expect for an American style, burgers and fries. There wasn't much choice of food from the party menu compared to the normal one so this was a slight disappointment.

Went here Friday night with group of guys all 40ish. It was great only £10 to get in and stayed for 4 hours, bands were very good mixing old with newer songs. We sang along, danced and drank the night away.

Went with my sister and a couple of friends for a small hen do. I had the chicken under the brick and it was really good, cocktails were amazing as well but we were slightly disappointed by the fact that the band only played for just over 30 minutes. One of the reason why we chose this place was to enjoy some live music, and it was disappointing only having live music for just over half hour. Overall is a good place to spend the evening, but quite loud, so I wouldn’t recommend it if you want to do some conversation.

I have visited the Roadhouse on numerous occasions over the years, but I must say that on this recent visit, it was by far the best experience I’ve had in an American joint outside of the USA. Better than my experiences, for instance, at places like Smollensky’s on the Strand and Sticky Fingers (the fabulous Rolling Stones joint in Kensington), both in London. It was a Wednesday night and so very much enjoyed their Mon - Thurs 5.30 - 10pm Happy Hour. ( 2-4-1 on the rocktails). My very refreshing and fruity Zombies went down very, very well. Tasted like a fine rum punch with added pomegranate syrup. The food was absolutely superb! I enjoyed some tantalising Tabasco Honey wings to start. The flavour was just right, the meat very tender and delicious skin. These drumsticks were very chunky. Then came a sensational chunky grilled salmon main. The fish was grilled to perfection, again with a very tasty skin and a fabulous consistency of tenderness in the very nice slightly oily meat. The gorgeous pomegranate quinoa made it special with a slight tang and moistness. The Courgette hash brown was ravishing as a base. Tasted like the most delicious potato fritter you’ve ever had. Al lightly doused with a flavoursome white wine and lemon sauce. As if that wasn’t enough, the waitress was one of the nicest we’d been served by. Very welcoming, friendly and bubbly. I think her name was Julia and we had a really good banter and laugh. I even ventured onto the stage to sing with the excellent rockaoke band. Such fun! All in all, a very enjoyable night was had! Highly recommended!

Me and my friends went on a night out here and it was great! The atmosphere was buzzing and the live music was fantastic! I haven't danced and sang the night away like that in a long time! The food was also delicious! Thanks Roadhouse! We will definitely be returning!

My boyfriend and I had a Sunday night away in Covent Garden and we fancied a bit of a night out!

Second visit to the roadhouse and it was good if not better than the first. The Bar has Two for one on drinks before 7.30pm so well worth a visit. We had reserved a booth for food and ordered from the small but adequate menu. I had a burger which was small but a big improvement than our last visit. Staff were friendly and seemed eager to please.

I was greeted at the door by 4 bouncers and a manager. I was refused entry because I didn’t carry Id. I explained to all of them the reason I didn’t carry id was because I had a gambling problem. I couldn’t carry Id to avoid me withdrawing money I didn’t need to have. Not one of them could contemplate that this was a life issue. The manager was massively rude and suffered from a lack of intelligence. I had to explain my issue about 20 times and after I had done so he still had to ask again the same questions I had been through with him already. If I was black or gay he would have let me straight to through the door but because I had a gambling problem he didn’t want to let me in. He was rude obnoxious and after a while actually was abusive. I think he suffered from a lack of intelligence and if I was his employer I’d sack him tomorrow.

Absolutely fantastic venue, have visited multiple times with different groups each time but yet to have a bad experience. Would recommend to all interested in a night out in London.

Service was great and the bbq wings were so yummy but the nachos were quite bland. I can’t really comment on the mains as I didn’t really get to enjoy it as I was so full from the starter.

New Year’s Eve celebrations were great at Roadhouse! The band that played live were amazing! The only thing I would say could have been better would be the condition of the toilets and also the staff that are hired to work within them as the lady was quite rude.

Visited last week after a trip to the Opera, our table was booked for 6.45. Second time I've been and both times the waitresses were very attentive and quick to take orders without being pushy. Food was lovely, although too large for us to finish. Even that early, the atmosphere was buzzing with people up dancing. Would highly recommend a trip there.

The staff were outstanding!! Had a fabulous meal. 50% off and BOGOF with the cocktails. Went with my mum who has mobilty issues. They could not do enough to help. I would definitely go back again with friends for the cocktal deal and to enjoy the night time entertainment. I would 100% recommend this venue.

I booked a table and even though I had many questions I had great service even before I got there. On arrival security guys welcoming and was led to our booth where we were looked after for the night by Ella. Great atmosphere. Great food and cocktails. Had a cracking night. Will return! Highly recommend.

If you have not tried before you have to visit the Roadhouse in Covent Garden. Amazing food and friendly team. Karaoke with live music band on every monday and wednesday also there is a chance to win 100pounds bar tab if you was the best singer of the night as you can see on the picture its real. ☺

Went for a pre theatre special menu, £16.95 pp for a shared platter, main course and cocktail, amazing value. I've been a few times before and love the atmosphere, lively without being too loud. The staff are great, friendly and attentive.

Visited last week with a group of friends and our waitress Giulia was great. The food and drinks were excellent too. I would visit again.

My husband and I booked a table for 17.30 on Bookatable, we arrived to a very unwelcoming security man who asked us for ID, we are 50 and only had a railcard with our picture on, I understand he has a job to do but he was quite intimidating, we said we would leave so he called another member of staff and I showed her my booking reservation on my phone but she didn’t have us on her computer, we said don’t worry we’ll just order something from the bar but when we went in all the tables were reserved so we left, never again we will book to go there. We found another place to eat where the staff were so friendly

I love Tripadvisor, my wife and I will be visiting London in March and have been busy building up our plans and booking up things for our days and nights. I stumbled across this place and thought about booking a meal etc. Love live music and good atmospheric places. So I looked at the reviews on here and I was gobsmakced at the amount of reviews stating how rude and aggressive the staff are. I think I will give this place a miss. If I want a fight I will go to a football match !! See ya when you’ve sorted your attitude and employ some bouncers that aren’t looking to cause trouble.
