An awful experience. I've been here once before and enjoyed it, but this was just terrible. We found maggots in our salad, and the wait staff barely even acknowledged it, let alone apologise. Nor did they mention what the outcome of this would be. They were completely apathetic to something that completely ruined our meal and evening. Finally when the bill came, they only offered to comp our half bottle of wine, which we thought wasn't adequate at all. When they came back, they just put down the new bill without a word, which had just six pounds taken off it. The money is one with, but most significantly the lack of care from the staff was shocking and definitely the worst I've ever experienced in a restaurant. A horrible experience and I'd 100% warn anyone off going. Immeasurably overhyped.

Much like everyone else on TikTok, I was so excited to try this place due to all the hype surrounding it, but my experience was so disappointing!!! The starters arrived and I was so shocked to find a maggot in my salad! When we flagged this to the waiter, they barely apologised, mumbling a sorry and walking off with the plate without another word. Needless to say, it definitely put a damper on the rest of the meal and ruined the night. The steak itself was good without being amazing, while the second portion was closer to a half portion. I was served 3 more slices (cooked differently to how I'd requested - well done rather than medium, completely different to the first portion) - hardly another “portion”. When it came to paying the bill, they just took off a half bottle of wine without real explanation, and given it ruined our meal, I think you'd expect a little more. I think the worst thing wasn't even the money, but rather the complete apathy from the staff. When we questioned it, the waiter returned with the bill again, this time with just 6.20 pounds more taken off with no explanation of what this was for. Overall, I’m just so disappointed by the standard of service. The only saving grace is that it was a Monday evening and we didn’t have to wait for a table, though even with so few people there, service still took quite long to get to us. We've been before and enjoyed it, but based on this I definitely won't be returning. Don’t waste your time / money on this place - you can certainly find better steaks and much better service elsewhere, and without the mark-up.

Full Review: Available @davidtriesitall on all social medias I TOTALLY GET WHY this this steak and frites from Le Relais de Venise l'Entrecôte is so famous in Paris and has several locations around the globe 🇫🇷🍷✨ Le Relais de Venise l'Entrecôte only offers ONE SET MENU and they start you with the walnut salad with mustard dressing then they serve their famous main course since 1959 which is their grilled beef steak with golden frites and their FAMOUS HOUSE SAUCE. After you finish one plate of steak and frites, they will top up your plate with another round of steak and frites and more SAUCE!!! Their special Relais sauce really got me wanting more steak and frites to drench them with even after the second top up plate! 😭😭 It was that good! After the mains, you can order from the dessert menu which has more options to choose from. We had ordered the le Vacherin Du Relais which is basically a meringue tower with hazelnut and vanilla ice cream topped with whipped cream and drenched with a decadent chocolate sauce. Overall, I enjoyed the restaurant, atmosphere and experience. However, a few points to note: The portions are not balanced very well; 3:1 fries to steak. The steak serving is small, thinly sliced and not that flavoursome. The sauce did lack some seasoning. The fries tend to overpower the meal which is not what I’d want. The service was somewhat rushed and they hinted at wanting the table back despite no others waiting to be seated - I wasn’t best pleased with that. Good, flavoursome and well priced house red, and the profiteroles were excellent. The walnut salad is dressed nicely and is a good starter for the meal to come. I may come again but I would choose other places over this.

This place is always buzzing with long queues on any given day. Had been three times in two months now. Love the steak and also the fact that there is only one set menu so the only thing you need to decide is how you would like your steak to be cooked. And then you can focus on what drink you would like. Easy lunch choice for me as long as I can beat the queue. Will definitely recommend to any meat eater! You won't leave this place feeling hungry. They fed you properly:)

We came here on a Saturday evening and we were only in the queue for around 10 or so minutes. The steak is either done rare, medium or well done (no medium rare). The set menu for £29 is great as they top up your plate when you've finished your first portion. Their signature sauce goes perfectly with the steak. I would recommend giving this place a go.

Incredible restaurant, I understand all the hype now. We arrived at 12.30 sharp and there was already a queue, which went by really fast. The place fills up very quickly but because of having a set menu it also has a quick turnover so even though we had to wait around 20 mins for a table, once you're in, you're in for a ride. The staff is super nice and friendly, with uniforms that will make you think you're in a different time. They'll first ask you how you like your meat and if you have any allergies. First you get a salad with a delicious dressing and walnuts. Next you'll get a first round of meat with the delicious magic sauce and chips. The meat was of great quality, very soft and tasty. Once you're done with the first plate buckle up for a second round of steak and frites. I'd say that overall you'll get 200-250 grams of meat, but I get full very fast so I could be wrong with my estimations. The house red wine (a Bordeaux) is magnificent and silky, they have it in regular bottle or half a bottle. And last but not least they have a great selection of desserts, from profiteroles and crème brûlée, to Ice cream and even a nice selection of cheeses if that's more your thing. My husband went for a sweet treat while I had a cheese platter that included a generous platter of four different types of cheese. I really loved this place and the wait is definitely worth it!

We went to eat the set menu, overall the food was nice, the steak was good and the desserts were tasty. However, they did not make it clear that the dessert was not included in the set menu so we were surprised to see the bill was a lot higher than we expected. The whole dining experience was pretty bad, you were squashed in a tiny table amongst other diners, everything was very rushed and waiters very much rushed you. For example I hadn’t even finished my first portion and they just piled more meat and chips on my plate! It felt like we were on a conveyor belt which is not what you want when you go out. Had the bill been £30-40 per person I wouldn’t have minded as much but considering it was higher I definitely won’t be coming here again. Would rather just go somewhere with a nicer environment as food was not that spectacular!

One of the 2 reason my review sits at a 2 stars for a place regularly getting 4 and 5's is simply because of the chips. If you just want steak and chips, thats fine, but I can say with near 100% certainty the fries they are using are the EXACT same packaged fries that are used in Morleys, a South East London chicken shop that you'd buy a portion for £1.49. So for a place that, with the buzz that it has acquired, leaves me genuinely bewildered that for the optical illusion of two huge plates of food they give you is, in reality, about half of what youd expect, with only decent steak and packaged chips for £31 each. The second is dessert. If the place has genuinely 2 items it makes, of which one is not prepared in-house, you'd expect the desserts to excel. But when youre given a creme brulee, a french desert, designed to be almost a liquid beneath the caramel top, have the consistency of hardened cream cheese, you know the media buzz has forced this place into pushing out the items at speed rather than quality.

The atmosphere here is great - it's packed out. The food was tasty but the portion size of the steak was a joke. More attention is paid to filling up your plate with the inexpensive things: the fries, bread and salad. Even the sauce was limited. I would've happily paid a little more if it meant getting a reasonable amount of steak. The service was incredibly slow at times, taking around 30-40 minutes to receive the dessert. Given this and our 1 hour queue, we removed the service charge from the bill which is something I'd never normally do. I get that they're worked hard in there, but they're clearly setup for lots of guests, given the covers and their famous queues. Was I happy I went? Yes. Would I go again? No, it's not worth the queue. Should you go? Only if you are patient!

Really excellent food, service and atmosphere. I felt that maybe the steak portions were slightly on the small side but overall the meal was brilliant and I enjoyed the strong mustard as well! Service was excellent. We arrived at 1800 and had to wait for about 30 minutes. When we left at 1930 the queue was also very long so I would imagine it is a long wait. Would definitely return again.

If you're looking for a vast and varied menu, this isn't the place. It does effectively one thing, but it does it very well. Thinly sliced, juicy steak with the house sauce and gloriously crunchy frites, in two servings. A green salad and some bread complete the set. It is simple, but never basic. We went with a small group on a Friday lunchtime and after only a short wait we were seated and being served by a friendly waitress who explained the set-up. We had a good couple of hours there, and with plenty of drinks for all and desserts for most, we still didn't go much over £40 per person. It was a great lunch in a very convivial atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

To mark a birthday, our group of friends went to Le Relais de Venise l'Entrecôte near Bank station. After a brief queue, the service was impeccably swift, but we didn’t feel hurried - in fact we were there for almost 2 hours. There’s a set menu so no agonising about what to have. The food is exquisite - no surprise to me as they’ve had enough practice to perfect it! The wine list is focused on value choices and isn’t extensive - I suggest going for the pricier options which are still very reasonable. Bon appétit!

We arrived about midday and while there were a few people in the queue, we were seated within 5 minutes. Service was quick and very friendly but we didn’t feel rushed at all. The double portion of steak and chips along with a plate of salad and bread was very filling and tasty. It left just enough space for dessert which was fantastic. All that along with wine came to under £50 which I think is great value. We were there just shy of 2 hours. Definitely recommend!

There's no menu, you either choose medium or well done for your steak, and you also get a second serving of the steak and chips. The steak is good, but the sauce isn't really to my liking but, it's generally okay. For one person having a glass of wine, steak, and a dessert, expect to spend around £47.

This place is a shadow of it former self, we won’t be coming back. Where do I start? The prices have gone up and portion sizes have shrunk, I used to feel really full up after eating here, not anymore, the pieces of meat are tiny compared to 10yrs ago. £80 for 2 people with no wine, £8 for 2 Diet Cokes and a further £7 for 2 small lukewarm coffees. I was rushed thtoughout, the waitresses even dripped steak sauce all over the table and my hand such was there attitude - no apology, nothing. Lastly, it was like a crèche in there, kids being allowed to roll around the seats with no control from their parents, now I know that’s not the restaurant’s fault but I would never come back here during half term again. We will not be coming back. Shame as the used to be a treat

We love the concept of this restaurant. We visited it in a different places: Paris, Bordeaux, London soho, Marylebone. Usually very nice. This time we have noticed that portions are much smaller as well as sauce on salad and meat. Never before was needed to add extra salt to fries and even meat but this time we did. Wine is beautiful as usual so as a dessert. Staff were good. We came at 5.35 and we’re second in a queue

The night is falling as i am on the verge to arrive at Liverpool street station to meet a friend, shortly before heading to the much talked-about "Le Relais de Venise" located in the city of london and whose original restaurant was born in Paris over 60 years ago. We have both been longing for that evening to take place... Hardly because this spot has mysteriously become a social media sensation in the past months but due to the real simplicity of the concept: A piece of steak of whichever cut is available that day, hand-cut string fries, an accompanying salad as well as a secret sauce, whose recipe seems to be kept as secret as the next SpaceX rocket program. Add to all this a small wine menu, a surprisingly extended dessert selection as well as a no booking policy at the door. If, like we did, you arrive there when the restaurant opens (6m for evening service) you will most likely experience a queue already. However, with the restaurant capacity you shouldn't wait too long (Took us 20 minutes on a Friday evening).With that in mind, needless to say that the larger the table the longer you may have to wait as you would need to be fit in accordingly. Once you go through the queeing process, you are then brought to your table and explained the procedure. Our cut of meat that day in that 29 pounds menu was basse entrecote. We paired it with the house red wine named after the restaurant for 26 pounds the bottle. Both prices are in tune with london standards. If you have ever watched the movie "Midnight in Paris" you will likely get the same taste of nostalgia. Busy yet charming waitresses dressed in french maid costumes, small square tables with paper tablecloths, comfortable banquettes and a large bar filled with a more than sufficient amount of bottles of wines. All delivered in a rowdy room pleasantly decorated with flowers and mirrors. Add to this the pleasure to see your food preparation and plating unfolding right before your eyes! Shortly after ordering, our rather small but palatable accompanying salad arrived along with a plate of warm slices of baguettes. Perfectly seasoned with a creamy and mustardy french dressing and some chopped walnut satisfyingly adding to the overall crunchiness. While finishing our salad, we were wondering why we could only choose between rare, medium and well done for our meat. One may believe that medium rare is probably the best way to eat this cut of meat (I personally prefer rare) and well done is usually thrown upon nowadays (and could still be offered to the few people wanting it). It is a business decision that still is a mystery to me today. Having said that, the meat itself was tasty and cooked as we wished (rare). Although served rare the meat wasn't cold which is what it should be in this case.The hand cut fries were crunchy and well seasoned. The secret sauce was matching the food nicely. It was rather buttery and herby with a drop of unami flavour and a slight punch of acidity. The only objection to this is that similarly to the salad and despite the 2 servings the portions are quite small and served in a starter plate to somehow cover this up. On the contrary the dessert menu has more choice and seem more generous. We opted for a creamy, crunchy and full of flavour crème brûlée as well as "Le gâteau du Relais" which consisted of 2 different chocolate cakes. One seemed to be a flourless cake while the other one ressembled a chocolate marquise. Both tasty and chocolatey and served with a light chantilly. Overall, the experience at "Le Relais de Venise" was a pleasant one. Was the food served tasty? Surely! Were the staff pleasant? Without any doubt... Did the restaurant have a nice atmosphere? Definitely, at least the kind you would expect in this type of restaurants. But somehow despite all of this, "Le Relais de Venise" brings a hint of nostalgia which just lack a bit of generosity.

Simple concept, but the food is really good. The steak portions are relatively small and they do fill your plate up with chips, but by the time you have had the second portion of steak it does feel like enough food. We ordered one portion of profiteroles between two and they were delicious and more than enough. We arrived at 5.45 and didn't have to wait long at all. The restaurant is big so if you arrive well before the opening time at 6 you are likely to get into the first sitting. The service was generally good, although they are extremely busy and can take a while to get to you, but this wasn't a bad thing as we didn't feel too rushed.

Awful staff attitude and service - couldn't wait to leave. Felt like we were an inconvenience for them and in the way. The place was not busy so there was no need for rushing. Food was very average and the salad was brown so obviously old leafs. The waitress brought the bill to us and took half a bottle of wine away as soon as we had practically put our forks down. Asked what she was going and she said she would refund the difference!!?? Guess what - she didn't - our bad as we didn't realise until later as couldn't wait to leave. Sent an email of complaint to the Manager, needless to say never responded back. I suppose it comes from the top! AVOID!!

Disgusted by the service and attitude of staff on a recent visit to the restaurant. Food was average, salad was brown! The waitress also took half a bottle of wine away upon being presented with the bill. No explanation or refund of half a bottle. Wrote an email of complaint to the Manager but surprise surprise no response. Poor show all round.

This place is amazing. We saw it all over social media and decided that we have to go. And we can confirm, it’s definitely worth the hype. The steak is delicious, the fries fresh and the special sauce is just perfect. You get two servings of fries and steak plus a salad for 29£ which is a pretty good price for the quality they serve. You should also try their house wine and the desserts they are a great addition to the set menu. Just plan a little time to wait for a table since it can get pretty crowded.

This location is always full and I feel like the waitresses hurry your meal as much as possible, even putting food on your plate without asking which made me eat it cold. The only nice thing about this location is that you wait in line inside but I still prefer to go to Marleybone and have nice waitresses.

Probamos el menú que tienen , primero una ensalada clásica con nueces y una vinagreta de mostaza y después la carne de buena calidad y buen punto de cocción la salsa tipo café paris muy buena acompañado de patatas fritas casera , lo mejor que hacen es un segundo pase repitiendo plato para que la carne no se te enfríe mientras comes tranquilo, precio medio 30/35 libras por persona.

Extremely, EXTREMELY busy on a Monday night, I guess because their Marylebone branch was closed for refurbishment. We’ve been trying to come to this restaurant for years now but can never go due to the massive queues, so we thought we’d try on a Monday and at a branch in the middle of nowhere, surely no one would go…. But how wrong we were. Super packed and massive queues (although as we were 2 it moved quickly for us). The staff, as another reviewer perfectly put it, are very impersonal and you can’t even ask them for something without them huffing and puffing - and I get it it’s a fast paced restaurant and they were busy so they didn’t have time to waste, but you can be nice to your customers..? They’re quite patronising to be honest. They even charge service charge ontop of that, for poor service… I enjoyed the food but it was very very average, fries were overdone and my ‘walnut’ salad was just ‘wal’, there was like half a walnut cut into 4 tiny pieces in there, with just lettuce leaves…. I reckon I could make a better steak at home too as it was so thin. I asked for another salad and they said no… as if they’re handing me some £200 salad. Doesn’t even cost them 20p to make this ‘salad’. I couldn’t hear myself think due to how close we were sat next to a table who were basically shouting at each other the whole time… their conversation had no ending either, so the whole experience was a shambles for me. Would I go back again? I don’t think so.

This is complete awkwardness. This was one of the worst restaurant experience in London. While our colleagues were siting inside and we were slightly late, hostess lady was so rude and she said “you colleagues gave up on you”. She proposed to stay in a queue for 1 hour to get table. It’s not 1/5, it’s 0/5. Good luck and great success

This was the most disappointing dining experience I had in London so far. We waited on the line for 20 minutes at 0 degrees only to eat a less than average food with less than ordinary service and ambiance at an incredibly noisy setting. Nothing close to the original ‘Cafe de Paris’ experience neither regarding food nor ambiance. I am still trying to figure out how this place got 4,5 points in google, and why are people waiting in line at freezing cold.This might be a textbook ‘Tourist Spot’ .

Working in the city, this place is one of the top city lunch places. One dish, one formula, but it's a winning formula for me. Salad great, steak perfect, sauce delicious. After lunch, I normally have to skip dinner. It's not something one can eat every day. One thing though, for a typical city lunch, it's not one for business. More with colleagues, as the place is too noisy to talk. In fact, for this visit, it was so busy the noise level ruined my visit for me.

I don’t understand the hype of this restaurant. They don’t take reservations and you have to stand outside and queue up for average and overpriced food. The steak quality is mediocre and the food is quite average. What I would say people enjoy is the fact that you’re served one set menu of a tiny simple salad, plain and dry baguette with one note steak and a mountain of fries, this is served on small plates and you’re served your main of steak and fries twice. They serve the steak with a small amount of their signature sauce. The atmosphere is so busy so it’s hard to get the attention of the servers, service is fast but impersonal, and you’re charged 10% for it. Not worth the wait.

Great staff, great food! They were able to accommodate our group of 11 including 3 kids. Was also impressed by one of the waitresses that was able to recall all our desserts without writing a single thing down. Lovely efficient staff and food as always. We come here at least once a month and will be definitely be back. My only slight complaint is we could have done with a tiny bit more meat but maybe that's just might be my appetite talking!

Save your money for a flight and go enjoy the real thing at the original Paris location. That was one of the best meals of my life.
