Roadchef Sandbach Motorway Services in Cheshire East

We specifically went to Sandbach as they were listed as having vegan options at the Fresh Food cafe! We ended up with three vegetarian breakfasts instead of vegan ones, with no plant based bacon either. The staff member, although lovely, seemed unaware of the difference between vegan and vegetarian. Better training needed. Altogether an expensive and disappointing experience!

Probably the worst motorway services in the country in its present state. There was extensive building work going on but it is horrible anyway. The car park is way too small and people were fighting for places. It is also awkward to navigate and dangerous in its design and layout. The southbound area is the worst. Very big queues at each outlet so we gave up waiting. Toilets had not been cleaned well. It was untidy and messy. Didn't bother sticking around.

Don't stop if you have a baby and disabled person in the car. We sat waiting for ages for either a family or disabled bay. Every one of them were taken by lazy people eating in car, not one child or disability badge in any of them. We were so desperate to stop, feed baby, eat and use loos and nappy change too. Yes, it was busy but spaces, unsuitable for our needs were available further back. Management, please check.

The food eating area was dirty to say the best with food and litter all over the floor. The floor which looked clean with sticky and that made it feel even more dirty. The wait for McDonalds was almost 20 minutes and actually not that busy. The toilets were dirty and smelt strongly and not in a good way. The car park was a mess with litter. This is by far the worst services I have been too.

Had Lunch at Fresh Foods at the Roadchef Sanbach. We had freshly made fish and chips with mushy peas. It was nice and it was fresh

Desperate for the toilet stopped at Sandbach toilets borderline ok. McDonalds food cold (not a thing we normally eat) it was getting late, floor could do with a sweep and accompaniment station not well stocked But the biggest shock was prices in Menzies £2.55 for bottle of water I decline and at a tesco express got 12 for some price. As a result I will not give Menzies my custom anywhere now. Tip Use toilet and leave ensure you have enough supplies for long trips.

Convenient for a coffee and sandwich. Relatively clean, no major issues. Was very busy but that wasn't surprising.

Definitely do not stop here even if you’re desperate the toilets were absolutely revolting with sanitary products on the floor and certainly not been cleaned in a long time, then went to the McDonald’s to get a coffee and some food which we rapidly threw in the bin after seeing two cockroaches close to the kitchens and seating area AVOID AT ALL COST !!!!!!!!!!!!

This place needs a deep cleaning, the toilets weren’t very clean and most tables weren’t clean. Wouldn’t recommend stopping here.

Dropped in here en route to Scotland and was very disappointed in the general standard. The place looks totally dilapidated and when you go in, that appearance continues. Gents toilet is resplendent with a number of taps which are inoperable, paper hand towel dispenser is empty and despite Covid, many sanitising stations were empty. Very cramped inside (with many not wearing masks) made it a less than appealing place to hang around so it was purchase 3 coffees and head to the car to drink them. Must say, I won't be visiting this service area again. Glad I purchased fuel from Tesco before commencement of my journey as £1.43 per litre compared to this sites £1.63 a litre highlights all that is wrong in the U.K. the unacceptable face of capitalism imho.

Just had jumbo hotdog and chips absolutely disgusting hotdog was actually rock hard and inedible. Chips not bad so gets 1 star

Super expensive and rubbish service at the McDonalds outlet. Just what we have come to expect at these types of establishments. Would not normally stop here but needs must and thats how they get you.

Went to the McDonald’s and the staff didn’t take notice of the no tomatoes option in my order, so not good if there are allergies. Staff are friendly here and I managed to pick up a free snickers duo by checking in the night before

My partner and I stopped in here for some lunch on our way up the M6. We waited over ten minutes for our order, when there was barely any other customers there. When we received our order, my large toffee latte was a medium so my cup was half full and it was freezing cold. The chips were cold, and my boyfriend’s vanilla milkshake was banana. On top of this, the staff were very miserable, and were not very polite over the counter! Very poor!

Whilst washing my hands in your toilets, I witnessed a cleaner doing their job and cleaning each cubicle. However it was a huge concern to see this cleaner use the same cloth and bucket of water to clean the toilet (around the toilet and seat, then inside of the toilet), and then use the same cloth to clean the toilet door handles, door and wall. The same cloth was next use in the next cubicle to do the same thing. Really concerning and absolutely gross. Whilst the toilets presented as clean and tidy, the level of actual hygiene really concerns me

This was are meeting point for are coach had 30 min stay here so got a quick meal from McDonalds like these places over priced and they get the orders wrong.

Southbound on the M6.Walking into this place is like a trip down memory lane. The food offering is absolutely awful. The seats are dreadful. It feels like you are in a time-warp.With so many good services on the motorway with genuine and interesting food choices these days, it's interesting how this place sticks out like a sore thumb. Ten years ago, this could have seemed quite good.In need of a big re-vamp!If you need to stop near here heading south, I suggest Knutsford or Stafford.

Stopped here on the way to the lakes around 2pm on 30th August. This was the Roadchef services M6 northbound between junctions 16/17 we had food from the Fresh Food Cafe - hubby had fish chips and mushy peas and I had loaded or dirty fries with chilli - they were both good sized portions freshly cooked and to take out - staff were helpful and friendly would recommend it but it was busy for parking

Wouldn’t normally rate a motorway services station but Sanbach South M6 are worthy of a mention. The toilets were spotless and the new layout of the food and drinks section of the petrol station have quite a wide range of snacks and food from sticky donuts to nice deli sandwiches and their coffee is great too. Leading the fight to give us better services on the road, well done Roadchef.

Why is it that so many M6 Services, originally built in the 1960's, have not been raised to the ground and replaced with facilities in line with the 21st century? With 4 in just a few miles of the M6 surely they could be closed one at a time and totally rebuilt.The Costa at Sandbach actually provided a first class macchiato and a tasty lemon curd tart.But there is a general air of decay. The Bridge over the M6 carriageway is closed to pedestrians, but it actually looks ready to collapse onto the motorway.And the layout of the car park is archaic.Hayling Seagoon

Pulled into the services for a drink and to stretch our legs . We were towing our caravan so followed the signs. The parking is such a poor design that we struggled to park tried to go out and back at a better angle but were unable to and went back on the motorway. To park we would have had to either reverse in or reverse out and while we can reverse the caravan it is a very awkward manoeuvre especially with other cars, coaches and people making their way back to their coach. Tiredness kills and so does the stress of parking with the caravan at your services! Please put more thought into the design of the parking!

Friday afternoon visit and first visit since all the works have been completed. Entrance not clearly signposted causing several cats to go into the truck park. Parking itself was challenging as there is no dedicated caravan parking there were several taking up 4 spaces each. Meaning there was a queue to park. Once parked I was astounded at the costs, 2 coffees, 2 meals not much change from £30.

Toilets clean and plenty of them. Nice atmosphere in the eating areas. Mcdonalds was well run , friendly staff and food came out really good . Seating area to eat it was spotless. Would stop off here again when next travelling on the northbound M6

Don’t know why I’m surprised - it’s a Costa coffee! Because it’s a services I expected the usual chaos and mess. But this was good!! Calm, clean, polite staff who took time to engage! Very impressed and better than most other service stations I’ve been in recently. Clean toilets, easy parking, nice coffee. It’s all good!!!

The Mc D's was clean and tidy with good warm and friendly service. The coffee was as expected their usual fare. The toilets were spotless.

First time have been here stopped here for a loo, rest and stretch stop, it was clean and tidy toilets were nice and clean! So that was great! Lots of food outlets we didn't want anything like that as we had a bite to eat and drink with us today as the services are quite dear, very busy so we didn't stay in there long and headed off would definitely stop off there if we were near there again, we would recommend here

You can't point to anything in particular wrong they just are what they are! Good access on and off a busy motorway with decent parking that is free for 2 hours.

We stopped off here, while on the M6. Clean enough, but very very busy, so do not expect to pick up anything fast. As with most services prices are high.

Stopped off here with my daughter last Friday (7th September 2018), our final services stop off point before reaching our destination after a long journey heading south.

The worst MC Donald's to date anywhere!. Cold, and undercooked chips. A long wait, (it wasn't busy), and the loud floor cleaner/shiner operating the whole time.

Stopped here on way back from North Wales. Typical service station. Watered down tasteless coffee from Costa with inflated prices. The tables never seem to get cleared and usual chaos at McDonalds.

2030 on a Sunday evening. Famished but in a hurry. Needed 3 butties.

With little option for anything else we had to make a stop northbound but everything was so bad - dirty tables despite us being the only ones there. Litter bins full, toilets disgusting, they got our order wrong and when we did get our expensive breakfast snacks we left most of them. It comes to something when the best part of your breakfast is the ketchup.

Quite to my liking. There wasn't a lot to choose from and at the time many of the ladies loos weren't available.

Shoes cleaner going into the toilet facilities than when leaving. The cleaning cycle requires review. Drive on, if you can hang on.

We pulled in for a break and a snack. Toilets very clean, good range of food places, had a McDonalds and was served very quickly. Plenty of parking here on the southbound side.

Travelling with 3 little ones we had to stop here to get them some lunch and for a toilet break. Went to McDonald's as we knew what to expect food wise. The food was ok, great for the children and with a bit of space around the tables to spread out.

Whilst travelling north on the M6 through the worst section of motorway in the UK decided to bite the bullet and have some lunch at sandbach services knowing full well I am about to get charged extortionate rates for lunch, any how arrived parked up stretched my legs and proceeded to inside of the services, in front of me a limited selection of choice, Makky D's, Eat fresh, WH Smith's and of course the phone shop if you need a phone case!!, having taken in the prices and brief look at the menu,s decided on Eat fresh, ordered a jacket potato Tuna and cheese, with no lettace or salad, a cappuccino with no chocolate sprinkles and a piece of fruit cake, take away please I said, great then the shock came £11.89 please, heart sank, 5 minutes later lunch arrived on a plate, sorry I said it's a takeaway, off they go 2 minutes later they return with lunch in a polystyrene tray, heading back to my car as far from the door as possible settles down to eat opens the box and surprise salad! cold Tuna cold cheese warm potato and onion, disappointed, took a sip of my coffee and yes covered in chocolate sprinkles, any how here now lets eat, opened up my serviette to find a wooden knife and fork, great lets recycle, took a bite of the cold bland horrible dry food on a wooden fork that stuck my tongue and lips. sorry disgusting I couldn't eat it or drink the coffee. in heinsite should have taken it back to the shop but being a little lazy couldn't be bothered, set off on my journey with less than 5 miles completed ended up with a greggs, happy days,

This place met expectations. It is clean enough and service at McDonald’s was good enough. It has been refurbished and is nicer. It is nothing really special, but so much better than the dump of Knutsford.

Burger ok, but I think the prep team might need to practice a bit more. Preparation is not one strong points

A great place for food the veggie option was not cooked how Ally wanted but they still had service with a smile and redid them twice for her Wane and my breakfast were spot on.

Worst thing about these services is the overcrowding inside and the minute parking spaces outside - not everyone is driving a mini ! McDonalds chips are good and the Fresh Food Cafe has some excellent snacks and drinks.

Sandbach services has a Costa coffee, a McDonalds, clean loos, and is recently built, so everything still feels very new, which is why it is our favourite services on the M6.

Stopped at the services on our way home from the lake district. The services offer you exactly what you would expect free parking toilets and places to grab something to eat and drink.

We were travelling back home from nephew's first birthday and needed a place to rest. We visited the Costa for a quick drink. Service as expected, and exuberant motorway service prices. Need I say more!

Pleasant services as services go, only small but has all the necessities.

Reggie Perrin surely fled into the ocean to escape places like this.....I doubt if the buildings look much different to when built; food very average and (common for motorway service stations) horribly expensive. Staff fine but appeared jaded into submission, think of a prisoner who has finally accepted his fate half way through a life sentence.

OK, lets start with time and date of visit, 8pm, 25th July, the reason for the date and time is that all other reviews do not specify. We arrived, used the facilities which were spotless, we paid for overnight parking for our camper van and were given discount vouchers for drinks in the services. The staff were very friendly and helpful, pointing out that there were showers if required (included in the parking fee). The food was of a better quality than you would expect of this type of establishment, served hot and promptly. The staff were friendly and said good night as we left. In the morning were went in for a coffee, the staff were just changing over and they all seemed very friendly to one and another which I took to mean they work as a team. Summary, the place was spotless, the staff friendly and the cost of parking was not overly expensive. Some of the comments are about parking fines, stay to long and what do you expect. This will be a stop over point in the future if they keep up the good work.

Went in on a Saturday evening and the place was heaving! That wasnt the problem, they can't help that there were football fans there. Went to McDonald's just to order a mcflurry and thought it would be easier to order on the new order screens. Wrong! My order, number 15, said that it was pending for about 10 mins then completely disappeared. Waited a further 15 minutes and went to the counter to enquire. Said excuse me and 2 staff members looked my way and then just ignored me! After half an hour i left without my mcflurry. I begrudge giving them a single penny for the shoddy service they provided but i physically couldn't wait there any longer

Stopped with the family, as you do on a long trip. Food fairly good, standard service station fayre. Took the little one to the gents. Several toilets were out of order. The remaining ones were absolutely filthy, puddles of water (I hope) on the floor and many of them soiled badly. Could not find one single toilet that the little one could use, ended up using the disabled toilet which was still poor, but just about usable. Couldn't find any one to tell. Avoid if you need the loo!

My husband and I stopped off here for the toilet and coffee.

On our latest trip up the M6 to Cumbria this week we called in to Sandbach services again for a pit-stop. In our experience, this is the best service station on the motorway. The loos are always clean, and the McDonalds and Costa here are both excellent.

Smallish services. Toilets clean. McDonald's was nice and plenty of seating. Also have a noodle place and a costa. Car parking 2 hours or you have to pay

As motorway services go this wasn't a bad place for a stop off. Good choice for food and drink to suit all tastes.

Not a bad services but the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired for. I think some more regular checks would be in order. There is a decent selection of different types of food to choose from.

We are regular visitors to Sandbach services on the M6 on our trips to northern England, and we were back again last week on a trip to Yorkshire. We used Sandbach services in both directions, and both visits were very good.

I was trying to find something suitable for my kids other than McDonalds. I spotted Fresh Food and thought-great! Once we started looking i realised that the drinks in particular were extremely expensive but I still bought from there because I felt the food would be 'fresh' and good for my kids. When we got back to the car I opened the Tuna and cucumber baguette to remove the cucumber as my daughter doesn't like it. I was going to eat it but it looked like it had been cut days ago because it was floppy and wizened. Also the tuna was dry and for some reason- sweet! The very expensive grape and elderflower drink was just like water with sugar in it, according to my disgusted 11 year old. It was very disappointing as I had noticed there were some nice looking dishes on the menu for another time but I won't be going there again now.

Eating in the Fresh Food Cafe at Sandbach Services was a pleasure.

We regularly stop off for a break at Sandbach services when on a long journey north on the M6 to the Lake District. We were back again yesterday for some lunch and a loo stop.

Some motorway services are reasonably good, but this one is not a great advert for the genre. It looks tired and is in need of an upgrade sooner rather than later.

Northbound Roadchef at Sandbach at first sight is small but more than adequate with facilities. It was 11:30 am and on the way back to the office after a morning meeting, I thought @stop for an early lunch' Choice was McDonalds, Costa Coffee or Fresh Food Cafe. Seeing that the latter did all day breakfast and it implied, by it's title, fresh food. Full English Breakfast (£7.99) it was. The sausages were so dry that it was difficult to get my fork in. The bacon was similarly dry and chewy. Mushroom (1/2) was overdone. Beans OK sauteed potatoes and eggs OK. Coffee (Lavattza Americano £3.05) OK. I think that we will also have to differ as to what constitutes a full English breakfast. Very reasonable cost, especially the side of toast at £1 (or upsell toast as they prefer to call it). So although I can't complain about the price, the quality rendered the meal worthless. Services generally nice and clean, loos tidy. Wouldn't recommend the breakfast.

This is one of the older style motorway service stations, with a footbridge serving both sides of the motorway. You can sit in the bridge itself and watch the traffic go by. We did that with take away meals and drinks. It was nothing special, but gave us a good break from driving on a long journey.

We stopped for something to eat.we got fish and chips and lasagne. Both dishwashers lovely , lasagne was very tasty, great value £12 for both dishes. Staff were pleasant and place was tidy plenty of tables available.

Just a coffee/tea stop on this occasion. Clean toilets - always a plus. Nothing memorable but by the same token not bad either.

We stopped off on our way home. Food as surprisingly great , fish and chips and lasagne. Very tasty and fresh . Spacious and clean surroundings.
