I've offered an average rating due to the fact we have to walk into the place through smokers seated outside the front entrance. I dock a rating on all establishments which have this set up. That said, the welcome inside the pub/restaurant was 5*. Our food was pleasant and the steak was 100% perfectly cooked and tasty. My dessert was to be climbed rather than eaten, but I did manage to empty the plate of delicious fudge cake without a problem. If we find ourselves in the area again, we will eat here. We had the promotional offer: Main meal and a drink for just under £10.

Just bad. Food was microwaved to a molten lava temperature - my "Lasagne and Garlic bread" came without garlic bread - well no - when I raised this omission the Landlord said it would be 4 minutes..... ding....... garlic'ish bread. This is a locals pub for locals and I advise you to stay and eat in Long Sutton not here. I have just completed a 2000mile bike ride and this was one of the worst places I went to. I you read this and stay / eat here then I hope this review echos in your disappointed head.

After reading reviews, this looked like a good place to eat. The pub is small and cost with very few tables, the staff were friendly and a good selection of beers, wines and spirits. The menu only had one vegetarian dish - spinach and ricotta cannelloni served with chips and a small salad. When the meal arrived if found that it bared no resemblances cannelloni but was more like a cheese sauce with layers of lasagna sheets with a few flecks of green from the spinach. Quite disappointing. I will say that he other meals brought out for the other diners did look very good, it would be nice though if the chef could add some move vegetarian dishes to the menu.

This place should be shut down and refurbished,it smells of the seventies, after ceilings covered in dust and cobwebs ,drunks singing out of tune to old Elvis songs very loudly. The food was o.k if you like frozen chips and warmed up chicken ,eating downstairs was like eating in a time warp and we were the only ones there ,no waitress service in fact the so called chef served us ,, give it a wide berth.

Called in for something to eat. Chatted to the chef and ordered. My wife and I ate the garlic mushrooms so quickly I probably shouldn't rate them but they were good. I had a decent (big portion, hot and tasty) curry and wife had the lasagna which she tells me was deliciously cheesy. If she had had any more garlic bread she'd have eroded the dish trying to savour the last morsel. Good simple food.

The rooms at the Riverside are OK for a one or two-night stay. They were clean and functional although could have done with thicker curtains to block the morning sunshine from lighting the room up too early in the day. The staff were friendly and helpful and the beer was great and we had a good Full English on the Sunday morning. Good signal on the WiFi. Downsides? Quite a few steps to negotiate from the front although there’s level access at the rear. Quite a musty smell in the breakfast area.

This place is terrible.I booked it based on previous reviews I had read on bookings.com I booked a single room and asked to see the room before paying. I had an uncertain feel about the place,it is quite shabby looking on the outside.I had to wait 20mins for the owner to arrive to deliver a key for the room. To reach the room involved climbing up and down five sets of stairs inside and outside the building to a small sparcely furnished room. I was advised if I did not want to go through the bar I cold access the property down a back alley, not ideal for a single female traveller. The cost was £45 per night. I told the bar maid who showed me the room that I did not wish to stay, and I did not think the charge was acceptable for the quality of the accommodation. I spoke to bookings.com before I left the property.they explained that they could not prevent the business owner charging me for one nights accommodation of £45 THe business owners wife spoke to me on the phone. She was very rude to me and accused me of trying to get a free upgrade to a better room and insisted on charging me even though I was trying to point out that the accommodation as a whole was of a very poor standard and that I did not want to stay there. I think the health and safety rating of this B&B needs investigating. I had to find myself alternative accommodation at short notice..A very unpleasant experience.

Wedding anniversary meal in the friendly surroundings of the Riverside. We're locals so can't review the accommodation but the welcome is wonderful, the beer great and the food wholesome, plentifully and delicious. We will definitely be returning. Many thanks to all for making our evening a warm and enjoyable one.

Stopped for a family meal and despite the modest appearance on the outside the welcome was warm and the food was superb, I can personally recommend the home made steak & Guinness pie, the staff gave a warm and friendly welcome and we left with a big smile. My one tip would be to offer either a children's menu or child size portions of the mains as little Alex couldn't eat all of his but good value nonetheless.

Dare you tackle a truly British delicacy.......the menu states 'Large Mixed Grill'.......this is truly not for the faint hearted......or the weak! After sampling one or two pints...and a warning from the staff & chef it is a 'Large plateful'......one sat and waited for the arrival of the 'Titanic' of all Mixed Grills........ The chef brought the plate or should one say plateau of all plates.....before my eyes was a remarkable feast.........inclusive of 'black pudding'...... you will not be disappointed if you have the Lion heart to tackle the 'Titanic of all Mixed Grills'...???? if you DARE! To all the staff at the Riverside a big thanks........great atmosphere and one left you a clean plate.....

We were staying in the area so decided to check out this place and were not disappointed. It doesn't look to appealing from the outside and you can't see a menu unless you go inside but when you do there is a small bar and tables around it . The lady behind the bar was friendly and helpful and we both ordered the mixed grill and couldn't believe the size of the portion. You got steak, lamb steak, chicken, gammon, sausage, chips, onion rings and tomato! A huge plate and was only £12.95 which was a bargain, the beer was cheap too and we left very full and happy. Well done guys

Called in here for a meal with some trepidation as it didnt look too inviting from the outside. It turned out to be a compact "local pub/B & B" with just a couple of tables for dining. I ordered the spinach & ricotta cannelloni without great expectation. However I was pleasantly surprised with the meal, it was served with crispy garlic bread and a large bowl of fresh salad. All in all very satisfactory. Not recommended for the sensitive soul as the juke box is rather loud and Elvis predominates. Nice pint of Bombardier beer but you may have to use your elbows at the bar to obtain it !

Nice building. Ambushed by a rude man upon arrival who gave us keys and told us to be at breakfast by 8.30am (Sunday) as thats when they switch fryers off. Whole place stinks of fat and dogs. Door handle to room broken, wooden platform, mattress springs knackered, road noise, a squeeze to get in the shower, no juice at breakfast, but the breakfast is the best part. An ok British breakfast- no other option offered, no jams and butter is flora. The lady at breakfast is far nicer than the young man and the older man who ignores you and rolls his eyes as he walks. Giving two stars as it is cheap compared to other places, perhaps we got the worst room, but will not return to find out

Lovely old pub with amazingly low prices which compare with what we had in 1990's around London. Great beers and even Mild which can rarely be seen anywhere in the south. Wine very limited , Red, White or Rose, spirits all by the brewery but fine under half the price of the south and a lovely atmosphere.
