We visited on a Saturday lunchtime and were shown to a nice window table overlooking the river inside the restaurant. They were very quiet that lunchtime, but the friendly staff were excellent and we had a lovely 2 course lunch. The food was served with appropriate timings and was very well flavoured and prepared. Highly recommended.

I would recommend anyone wanting to eat here to phone ahead and book. We went on spec while holidaying in King's Lynn. It was a Wednesday evening shortly before 7pm and the place was closed. More than that it didn't appear to be trading anymore. There was no menu outside and no indication of when the restaurant was open. It had every appearance of being permanently closed.

Charming low-beamed restaurant overlooking the river with great view, especially when the tide is high. The service was smiley-faced and prompt and their mushroom soup with croutons and French bread and butter was delicious. Tea for two, cappuccino and a slice of their Victoria sponge just hits the spot when you've been shopping or sightseeing around Lynn 👌

Lovely restaurant by the river, so much character! Dark exposed beams and trusses with white painted ceiling panels. Nicely complemented by the lighter stained wooden tables and floor. The soft palette of white and light grey on the walls makes it feel bright and airy. The food was really good! Starter of shrimp and leek tart, with local brown shrimps, had a well balanced combination of flavours and was very tasty. Main of strips of monkfish with chorizo. Very well executed. The combination of flavours was great and the sauce delicious. Had I been at home I would have been dipping on that delicious sauce with bread! Both a starter and main had a beautiful combination of flavours and textures, the main in particular. My only nibble, the portion was a bit on the small side for a main. They probably know that so it was accompanied by a good size portion of chips. My dessert of double chocolate cheesecake was to die for and a fitting end to a delicious meal. In brief, a lovely restaurant with very good food. It has a very relaxing and comfy vibe, the staff are great and service first class. Special mention to Grace, she was just superb!

Thought I would try the Riverside Restaurant tonight (Wednesday15 Nov). Checked this app. All good with previous reviews and open. Arrived outside the Guildhall and “A” frame on the pavement again confirmed its open. Checked the menu just inside the alley way. Still good as menu looked okay . Walked further down the alley to the River. Looking worrying as very dark. Tried the door and clearly closed. Disappointing journey and no offer despite all indication the restaurant was open. Please update for future customers. Would have scored zero for the experience but cannot do!! Poor advertisement for King’s Lynn visitors.

We stumbled across this restaurant on a recent visit to King's Lynn and were so glad we did. Food is excellent, menu is varied and all the dishes we had we're lovely. Staff were very friendly and it is a beautiful setting. We watched the sun set over the river as we ate. We've just had a delicious dinner at the Riverside and we we're very happy with the food and service from the beginning to end of the meal. Its location is alongside the river and it has a pleasant terrace where we enjoyed a drink before eating in the restaurant. The young waiting on staff were eager to please and their attention added to the pleasure of the meal. I thoroughly enjoyed the Arbroath Smokies, the Sandringham lamb and the cheese board whilst my husband also recommended the chicken. A very pleasant meal at reasonable prices.

Location is lovely but wasn’t impressed with the service... place got great reviews. We walked in with a 3 year and we were the only people there as it was early.. my wife asked if she could charge her phone and we overheard the owner say ‘no she can’t do that’ to a waiter who passed on the message.. obviously understand why a restaurant may have a problem with this but there is a way of communicating it... very blunt I thought particularly as we were only customers! food was ok but nothing amazing.. felt like a place with a great reputation that was sorta living off that..

Whilst fully understanding the new normal for service in restaurants this place has done everything to reduce the health risk and nothing for the ambiance, menu content or advertising. For the price I would at least of expected a table cloth. The room resembled a deserted pub, although the pub we ate in the previous night didnt deliver the cutlery in a tin bucket. On the approach to the restaurant is a very nice and varied menu which matches the website. Imagine the dissapointment when presented with an understandably reduced but not thought through or balanced menu. 3 fish mains, a beef stir fry and a 1980's throwback of chicken Kiev. Should have gone to Iceland. At between £13.95 and £14.95 per dish one should rightly expect something more appatising. Regardless of what is going on in the world customers are still expecting value for money. This place is not. I would suggest putting in a bit of thought for the customer experience. On top of this, last orders are at 8pm. That's a very small service window and made us feel rushed. The staff were charming but it didn't make up for anything. Just paying lip service to a business does not bode well for its future.Having visited previously we don't see ourselves returning.

In Lynn for an evening and fancying something a bit more than pub food we tried the Riverside. The place was warm, looked good and smelt great. OK there was only one other couple eating at 8.20 but it was a cold night. Rather unnecessarily asking if they had a table for two, we were told that the kitchen closed at 8.15. just five minutes before we arrived.Given that they restaurant doesn't open until 6.30, this leaves a service of just an hour and three-quarters. So not exactly a place to go to for a leisurely meal and convivial evening with friends. With those hours, it should be competing with fast food joints!

We were just staying locally overnight following a football trip and as it was our wedding anniversary we wanted to have a nice meal in comfortable, quiet surroundings. I had read reviews and thought this would be a good place and we were not disappointed. The hardest bit was finding it in the dark. Surprisingly on a Saturday night it was not busy, the menu provided a good choice and we both chose the seafood gratin which was served with new potatoes and salad - it was delicious and complemented with a bottle of the light, fruity house wine. For dessert I chose the autumn Eton mess and my husband the sticky tiff pudding and both were excellent. Wish we could always find somewhere like this, nice environment, friendly staff and good quality food.

Had dinner here last evening with family. The four us had a really good meal. Service was a bit on the slow side. However as each dish is individually cooked this is understandable. Two of us had the stuffed chicken which was absolutely delicious, and really tender. The stack of chips with it were crispy and superb. For a starter I had the brown shrimp and leak tart. What a dream of a starter this was absolutely delicious. You can have that as a main course which is what I will do on my next visit. My wife had the fish pie which she said was really nice, however the sauce could have been a bit thicker and it could do with a bit more fish. My son had the chicken burger and this he said was really good. All in all a very good meal. Our only complaint was that the staff could have been a bit more friendly and welcoming.

Having an overnight stay in Kings Lynn and wanted somewhere last minute for evening food. Found this place after reading reviews and loved the location and historic building. About two minutes walk from our hotel so very handy. Food was really lovely - not fine dining but smart and just really good. The shrimp tart is obviously very popular and husbands was delicious. The potatoes it came with were amongst the best we’ve tasted. His smokies starter was also excellent but could have done with some bread. My chicken and mango starter was lovely as were the mussels. Cheesecake and breadsticks and butter pudding both fab! Only downside was a very limited wine by the glass list which is no good when one part of a couple doesn’t drink (or is driving).

As regular customers for lunch on Saturdays my partner and I have noticed that the service has got worse. If the owner isn’t there, the young staff who despite doing their best, leave customers for ages before taking orders and don’t notice when customers need them. Today we received our beers but no glasses, then we waited 50 mins for 2 basic mains and a side dish, they came followed by our cutlery. The food is good and the staff are lovely but it’s clear there weren’t enough doing front of house and probably the kitchen, as we weren’t alone waiting ages today. We want to support it as an independent restaurant but the really slow service is putting us off.

Popped in here for a quick lunch at the end of our walk, with our lively springer spaniel, who was made very welcome. We found the Kings Arms staff friendly and welcoming, and we enjoyed excellent sandwiches, sensibly thick and beautifully fresh bread with loads of filling. We thought they were great value, especially given that they were accompanied by salad, crisps and really lovely coleslaw. They really filled us up. It was only a shame that our holiday accommodation is well over an hour away, so we probably won’t be able to repeat the experience soon. We will definitely recommend the Kings Arms.
