(2024) Super friendly staff who gave prompt and friendly service (at the bar too). The food is superb and sweets fantastic. Views are wonderful. I've been back 2025 (we go every year) the food was terrible, service very Very lacking and miserable waitress clunking around ... just no service at all. Asked for boiled potatoes and got 4 sprout sized offerings... BAD ! Battered cod was tasteless... BAD! Bar staff were top

Five stars for the setting beautiful place. 0 stars for the warm welcome. Food closed early poor excuses and non welcoming staff. Very disappointed. Do not attempt to stop here without turning up early and begging for a table because they don't do 'walk ins' apparently! From the response I have received validates the passive aggressive nature myself and my mother received on our visit. Not sure where you have googled me from but I live quite close and never really dropped in before because it always looks busy and thought it must be a nice place to eat. Never again! You clearly cannot accept feedback and have little to no customer service in house or online!

We had the most wonderful stay at the Riverside Inn. An amazing welcome, bags carried to our room and then relaxing pre-dinner drinks on the terrace overlooking the river Severn. It just got better in the restaurant and our server Sian was so friendly, professional and pleasant. The food was top quality, fresh and delicious. I would recommend the Riverside Inn for a night or two away if you want to be spoiled by excellent hospitality in an amazing setting.

Have been to the riverside previously and had a coffee mid afternoon which was very nice, yesterday however on the spur of the moment and being my partners birthday we decided to head here for a meal to celebrate. I checked the website (I know didn't book!) But given the website said food severed until 9, and driving the hour to arrive at 8 seemed OK. However on arrival was told the kitchen was closed for the day even though people clearly had just been served food in the bar, I didn't feel there was much of an apology even after mentioning the drive we'd made. Also when I was served at the bar it was assumed I'd made a mistake and booked the wrong time? I just feel it could have been handled better, it was clear we were very disappointed and had 4 hungry children in toe!

Late lunch on our way to Churk. Jill and myself had gammon, first rate. Service very good. Staff friendly and helpful.

An excellent Sunday lunch for 4 at this fabulous place! Food was amazing, great ambience, river view and superbly looked after by Lesley. Definitely a return visit is in the plan.

Beautiful location, great beer garden on a sunny day, but the service is poor. Food is good not great but the thing that really upsets people is being ripped off for soft drinks! £4 for HALF a pint of COKE.

Lovely riverside location, good menu. Vegetable options but the vegetable grill was disappointing. Others meals were good.

We visited for my husbands 50th birthday meal, we were sat in the conservatory, only down side was we became very hot sat under the window of roof. Lesley served us and was a true professional, friendly, chatty and very helpful ( thank you Lesley!) . We waited over 40 minutes for our food, but it was a busy sitting even though it was mid week. Food was delicious (although portions were small). The overall setting is beautiful and a real treat. Would recommend but do book in advance

Wonderful country pub in a charming Shropshire village, just outside of Shrewsbury. We had a seat with a fab view of the River Severn. Our waitress, Lesley, was brilliant :)

Great food fantastic service and fabulous views

Service was incredibly slow, and staff felt very cold to talk to - as if we were an inconvenience just being there. Ordered 2 cokes and 2 sandwiches from the lunch menu. Took 25 minutes for the drinks to arrive, and an hour for the food to arrive. Waitress clearly saw our drinks empty, but couldn't wait to run away after dropping off the food. Had to call them back to order a refill, only to wait another 30 minutes for them not to arrive. Went up to kiosk to pay, to find the drinks had been put on our bill. After telling the staff member to remove them and advising why, they didn't apologise for inconvenience caused. Feels criminal for such a beautifully located establishment to have such woeful service.

First visit and the location is stunning and for this reason alone I would recommend it. The staff are good although if seated outside even on the patio you need to go back in and order at the till - not⁷ì particularly a problem but I wouldn't expect that at such a setting with the price point of the meals. The food itself is priced on the high side for what you receive- your paying for the venue and location ultimately.

Gorgeous setting, posh rooms with character. Comfy bed and the breakfast and service were lovely, really nice staff who are welcoming and friendly. Lesley served me and she made breakfast really enjoyable, made sure that I didn’t want for anything. A lovely place to go for a weekend away. Or relaxing if working away, it makes working away feel like a break away! You can look forward to going back to your hotel room and don’t need to leave there to find somewhere to eat because the restaurant is lovely. Had the seabass, tasty!

Fantastic one night get away in the superior room. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Food was excellent and generous portions for reasonable prices. The view from the room was incredible. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely pub in a beautiful setting but the food is just sub standard. I had the gluten free burger and salad. The burger was dry and chewy with a poor sliver of bacon, most places have a crap bun (fine) but make the burger itself good. The salad was awful, a bunch of rocket and strips of cucumber. That. Was. It. Over priced food for the underwhelming quality. It's the third time we've eaten here in about 4 years and every time the food is poor. It's such a shame as the location and decor of the pub is lovely.

Birthday celebration for six. Extremely happy with our food choices. All cooked well. Generous portions. Confusion with our hot drinks order at the end of our meal was resolved swiftly and completely to our satisfaction by the manager. We will definitely return and would recommend you try. Lovely river views from the terrace too.

Stunning restaurant / pub in the heart of Shropshire, right on the banks of the River Severn. Specular views over the river and surrounding countryside. The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful, and the food was brilliant. One really small criticism would be for the amount of time it took for the meals to be served, but it was a busy, hot, sunny day, so I guess that's not too unexpected. We will be going back, many times. Go and have a look. You won't regret it.

Haven't stayed in the accommodation, just stopped for food and drink en route. The bar has lovely riverside garden.

The Mrs, our lad and i had a meal here this evening and it was absolutely beautiful, all the food and drinks were top notch and well worth the money. Our server Jasmine was very attentive and extremely professional. We will be returning and would most definitely recommend to people ✌️

We had a 5 night stay at The Riverside and can not fault one thing. We arrived on Easter Sunday and were met with a warm welcome from the reception staff, he explained everything to us and booked us in for our stay. We dined on 3 occasions in the evening and the food was top quality and cooked to perfection, our Breakfasts on the 5 mornings were excellent, nothing was too much trouble for the restaurant staff to make sure your dining or breakfast meal was to your satisfaction. There was a very good and varied selection of food on the menus. We stayed in room 5 which was on the second floor with a beautiful view over the river. The room was nice and clean and very cosy. The staff were very nice and nothing was too much trouble for them, we got a cheery good morning every day before asking had we slept well and even wished us a very good night. Every one of the staff were very helpful and friendly. Thank you to the Riverside Manager, Team Leaders and all the staff for the best week staying with you. We had a wonderful Sunday lunch with friends, the food was especially good and the young girl Delyth who served us was friendly, efficient and made the experience particularly lovely.

Amazing location and venue. Food was delicious with big portions, it’s not the cheapest but I’d definitely rather pay more for good food, it’s worth it! Waiting staff were lovely, only loses a star due to a frosty welcome, but after that slight disappointment it went really well from there. Recommend!

The location is lovely, and a good menu. Unfortunately the chicken in the pie was inedible as it had been overcooked, which was a shame as the pie itself was delicious. The staff took off the price of the desserts when I mentioned it again at the end of the meal, and it was dealt with amicably by Joe. The rest of the meal was absolutely fine, and good value for money.

Having had very poor service the last time we were there, we delayed coming again for quite a long time. So we were delighted that the service was much improved compared to that, thank you Sian. Only a 4 star though as the bar wasn’t manned properly and we struggled to get more drinks when we wanted.

We booked for 1230 and arrived a bit early but were seated straight away. Friendly helpful staff and lots of them. Charlie was our server he did a good job of looking after us. Food was as expected for a pub chain, pretty good, but the best thing was the whole experience. The pub was bright and clean throughout inside and out and must have been recently renovated or decorated I imagine. Amazing views over the river from the back, if it had been a dry day it would have been lovely to sit outside. Plenty of parking when we arrived. Can recommend from our experience today.

We have been this evening for a lovely meal with family. We travelled from Stourbridge and met with family from Oswestry. It was a good half way meeting point. We have never been before. But WOW! Beautiful pub as well as absolutely stunning views!! The food was absolutely spot on! Not one single issue with anything from any of us! We had David serve us tonight - this man deserves a raise! He was absolutely fantastic! 100% knows his customer service! He was brilliant with us adults as well as my youngest boy too! Kudos to you David! Keep doing your thing! From the "no ice family!"

We had a family meal on Saturday night we were a large table of 13 of us we were served quickly the food was excellent every meal was so delicious The staff were very efficient and very helpful would highly recommend this place

We went for a meal to celebrate our anniversary. Throughout we were served by Fin B who was lovely to talk to and provided excellent service. The view from where we were sat looked out onto an outside seating area and a green area. The choices available for food was quite wide and we both had a lovely main course and shared a dessert.

Lesley is gives us great service in the restaurant. We always like the Riverside.

My wife and I had dinner here recently and made reservations in advance as it tends to book up. Our reservation was for 5:30pm on a Tuesday and it was close to being fully booked an hour later. We were seated at a nice table with a lovely view out onto the Severn and surrounding countryside. Our server was polite and attentive. I started with the Barbecue Chicken Strips which had a very light batter and tasted very nice. For a main I had the Cheddar & Bacon Burger. The food was tasty with respectable portions. The burger came with fries and three onion rings. The location is excellent, right off the A458 with plenty of parking. There is ample space for seating both indoor and outdoor whether it's for food or just a drink. Overall a very pleasant experience and we will definitely return.

Outstanding location, beautiful views of the river. Service is a little slow but friendly. The pub is a chain pub, so the same menu as others in the chain. Food is good (for a pub) and parking is plentiful. There's also outside tables for a quiet drink in the sun, great for summer.

We were so well looked after by Lesley at the Riverside that I felt compelled to leave a review! The food was great and we enjoyed the view over the river during lunch. The experience was made that much better by the service which was top drawer!

I was so excited to try your restaurant as we've previously been for drinks in your outside area and I love the setting. I booked online and then called in to ask a question about how long we'd have the table for and what time breakfast orders needed to be in by. It was for mothers day and I wanted to be sure we'd booked with enough time so we would not feel rushed. First challenge was getting past the AI then when I finally got a person on the line the lady that answered was so rude and dismissive that it's put me off so I've cancelled. There are plenty of restaurants in Shrewsbury so no need to have to put up with rude staff especially when I'm spending my money with you. A real shame for us and you in the long run.

Manager would not allow my 87 year old husband to use his walking stick. They suggested walking sticks are a health and safety issue so not allowed. It was certainly a safety issue for my husband to have to walk without it. So we shall not be able to visit again. Food nice, waitress very good. Manager and new rules not good. Thank you for your reply. Yes my husband was allowed in, I don't dispute that he was allowed in but his walking stick was not allowed = a very difficult access for my husband.

Easily Pre booked a table on line for lunch with friends . Excellent service from Jasmin, Chicken & Bacon Baguette, Steak& Ale Pie and two barbers smothered chicken with bacon one of which was Gluten free. ( plenty of choice for gluten free option ) We waited a little longer than usual but we weren't complaining as they were rather busy. a pleasant surprise they took off a round of drinks off the bill and said we shouldn't have had to wait that long for our meals overall excellent food, service and setting for lunch time meal.

Sunday lunch for 4 on 16/2. Chose Riverside Inn based on good reviews but sadly did not live up to expectation. Sunday roast was average at best - Yorkshire puds dry and crispy, roast potatoes flavourless (not rosemary and garlic as on the menu). Our waitress, though polite, kept abandoning us (and tables nearby) so we had to find someone to take our order. Mains and dessert for 4 took almost 3 hours! Would have complained but didn’t want to search for someone to speak to! An underwhelming and pricey experience.

Lovley views (even on a rainy day), very good food with plenty of choice for the kids and excellent service from Lesley, who could not have been more accomidating for us all. Would highly recommend.

We were served by Anna and Lesley. Great venue but can the gully emptier be persuaded to visit early morning before lunchtime service next time please! 😀 Superb service from attentive and friendly staff. While we enjoyed our lunch we both felt the chips were not as good as they usually are - dry and tasteless. Shame, would have been a 5* review otherwise.

We came here for our Christmas day lunch and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. The staff were fantastic and everything was as we'd ordered and arrived in very good time. The food was all absolutely lovely, with generous portions.

My partner and myself visited on Christmas day for our Christmas dinner. The lovely staff went above and beyond to make our visit special. The food was absolutely amazing, great pride and care had clearly gone into the preparation and presentation of the food, the turkey was the most tender and tasty I've ever had. To top it all off the venue was lovely and was set out so it wasn't crowded and noisy giving a feeling of a quieter and a more private dining experience. The views of the River Severn were lovely from where we were sat. I will certainly be booking Christmas dinner again next year as it was perfect in every way.

Very well presented and comfortable inn. It has recently been done up and now looks great, all be it a nighttime visit. Staff were on the ball and friendly. Charlie are waiter was great, the food was fantastic and not badly priced either. Only criticism was the lower conservatory dining area was cold ,one little blow heater wasn't cutting it, whilst the rest of the inn was lovely and warm. Remember, warm air flows up cool flows down. Will return to see it in the daylight

This was a very pleasant visit, the service was 1st Class . The food was very well presented, beautifully cooked and well flavoured. The atmosphere was relaxed and very welcoming , we hope to return again soon

A lovely venue to meet friends over a meal or a drink.

My lunch menu chicken took an age to arrive, and when it did, it was drier than the Sahara, and the potato was undercooked. Service was appalling, slow drinks, and slow food ....... for the whole group. When coffee arrived for the 8 of us, we asked where the biscuits were. The waitress informed us that there were only 6 left, so nobody got any!! Not being fair!!! This was at 1pm. So, all in all, a sad decline in standards.

Came here for lunch on Thursday 19th December and all I can say is what a fantastic afternoon my friend and I had from the minute we walked through the door. Every member of staff were cheerful and happy especially our waitress Lesley. I have been too many restaurants but never came across such a wonderful, caring and helpful lady who went above and beyond to make sure we have a great lunch. Thank you and Merry Christmas to you all.

I would have given this five stars on everything except with was a really busy Sunday lunch and everything would have been spot on if the lady in charge hadn’t been stressed and then short with us when we asked a question. All the other waiters and waitresses were awesome especially Maddie.

Stopped here for lunch on our way to North Wales. The view of the river is fantastic, we visited in November so I would say in the summer sitting outside on the lovely terrace would be very pleasant. The service was excellent, Simone was friendly and attentive and the food was good.

Had a late Sunday dinner here with friends. Service was excellent, thanks to the wonderful Finn B. Food was delicious. Beautiful place, although it was dark and very windy. Definitely goofing back in the summer next year to enjoy the beautiful gardens. David and team make it a friendly atmosphere.
