Riverside Cafe Fish & Chips in Fenland

Arrived 10 minutes before they closed, and they still cooked us fish and chips fresh.. absolutely no fuss. Very friendly staff- and lovely food. Highly recommended!!

We have been eating here since the new owners took it over. We have tried all the others BUT always come back to the BEST. Your treated well especially through Covid and great food (try the mushy peas the BEST EVER).

Came in with a friend and was not disappointed. Friendly staff, brilliant food. What else could you ask for? Best fish and chips I've had in ages. 5/5 and definitely worth a visit if in the area.

Prices had to rise a bit due to transportation costs BUT the quality has stayed right up at the top with 10/10. This Cafe REALLY tries had and I have really missed Fish and Chips whilst I was in Devon. Brilliant from Philip and Marion.

Wrong order, had to share my wife's food. Repeated items I wanted twice but still got it wrong. Not once was an apology offered. Told them to keep rest of meal. You can go off people really quickly you know.

We first tried the Riverside Cafe several months ago after our adult son recommended it to us as "the best in March", and we now take a weekly 14-mile each-way drive to get our fish and chips from there (and conveniently to do some top-up shopping in Sainsbury's and/or Lidl) Miguel certainly knows how to cook fish and chips; fresh oil at exactly the right temperature to make the outside crisp and the inside moist and tasty. Perfection! I see that three people have given poor reviews. Two of them are from several years ago so I think can fairly be disregarded, however the one from earlier this year complaining of portion size surprises us.

We had a plate of fish and chips which was as good as anywhere we have been. Beautifully fresh fried, nice crispy batter and chips. Maria and Miguel, both from Portugal are really pleasant long term UK residents, and being Portuguese know a thing or two about fish. And Maria's chocolate topped walnut and carrot cake is to die for! Can thoroughly recommend this restaurant. Had CID and chips from here whilst staying with my mum and dad. Cooked fresh to order. Very nicely served in cardboard box. Very friendly staff and clean establishment. Food was very good and tasty, would recommend.

Order a large Cod here, you‘ll get nothing more than the regular size, which is getting smaller by the day. It won’t be long and you‘ll have a fish finger on your plate, sold as a large piece if cod. Every time I have been here, I was disappointed more and more. The last cod and chips was a piece of cod no wider than 2 inches at its WIDEST. So I assume they are cutting the filets in half. BTW, this Cod is also served with the skin. (Cheaper in wholesale) Summary : Maximum profit at the cost of customer satisfaction. I went there the last time after receiving a micro fish. Unhappy customers stay away...and talk.

This was always a very good place. It is now even better in the back room cafe. New tables layout with excellent coffee and food. Cooked whilst you wait is it is hot and fresh. Good attention to detail and friendly service.

Beautifully cooked fish and chips delivered hot in a cardboard box. Had many times, never failed! Usually delivered within 20 mins. Can't fault this place, knocks spots off other chippies in town

Had fish n chips from here several times now. Always been happy with it. Nothing special. But decent fish n chips, reasonably priced, with prompt courteous service. They have a restaurant area in back, but we've not eaten there as yet.

We usually have fish and chips about 2 or 3 times a month, Riverside are simply the best chip shop in March. The service is excellent and the guys are very friendly, the food is usually cooked whilst you wait and looks and tastes delicious.

This is a good place to stop and eat your meal both inside or out. There is mooring for boaters, and lots of parking in the town.

Have had a take away a couple of times and eaten in once. We just love the fish and chips from here, their mushy peas are pretty good as well! Everything is cooked to order and served (take away) in great cardboard boxes so batter stays crispy when you get home, both owner and server polite, friends and chatty and very welcoming. Best thing I found out today is they also deliver!! Fish and chip delivery, perfect.

Ordered many times until one night placed an order for later in the evening came with no chips yes no chips then realised it was all cold delivery man came in my house and confirmed it was cold but not sure what happened we sent it all back and told them they lost a costumer shame this chip shop could be a great business

We have tried all of the Fish 'N' Chip vendors in the town and, as far as we are concerned, this is the best of them. Always freshly cooked to order, the batter is light and crisp, covering good, meaty, meaty, fresh fish. The staff are very friendly and the environment is clean and welcoming. You can eat in or take-away. We love it and it's the one we return to again and again. Enjoy!

You have to go a long way for a spam fritter and even further for a good fritter. Riverside cafe fish and chips shop is the best. I am not a lover of chips but this cafe could convert me. Husband had cod, chips and mushy peas and they looked lovely too.

Very friendly customer service, had a couple of deliveries and the fish has ALWAYS been excellent. However the chips can sometimes be a bit dry. Overall would recommend.

we have had these fish and chips and eaten them just outside the shop and they also deliver them which were delivered piping hot.The taste was great portion size huge fish portions and their small portion is never small

Either eat in or take away. The service very good and friendly. Efficiently managed. This is a no frills establishment but offers basic food well cooked.

Don't know what's happened but food gone off boil. The fat needs changing, the chips are awful and hard and it is delivered with missing items. Come on guys!

Lovely little fish and chips cafe generous servings served by polite and friendly couple, the fish is melt in the mouth and the chips are the best I've ever had. We often just sit outside with a portion of chips if we don't want a full meal they are irresistible!

Moved to March and wanted to investigate the local takeaways. I was starting to think I'll have to give up my chippy treat as no decent chippy in the area but then I found this place....This is by far the best. Generous portions and oh my the cod is the best I've tasted. Rate their food 10/10, very clean and friendly staff.

Visited Riverside at1800 on a Saturday evening in a party of 4. Ordering the food before choosing a table was quick the assistant was helpful.Fish Haddock and Cod was large the batter was thin,crispy and not greasy. The chips were nicely cooked and also not greasy. Everything was served hot.even the tea and coffee. Table cloths and cutlery were clean. A pleasant evening meal. Can recommend.

The chips are lovely as they are not covered in grease, but they could be cooked longer, they always look pale and under cooked.

We love the chips from here! The fact that they deliver is so useful as getting to the shop is hard due to the restrictions with parking. We always try new foods and have large and complicated orders but have only ever had minor issues (a sausage missing etc) and these have been resolved easily by a replacement and complimentary drink.

My friend and I decided we would head to this place for lunch, the surrounding area is beautiful opposite a river which makes the dining extra lovely. However the interior was ok, it seemed unorganised and not decorated nicely, I feel like that would have made this experience better. The food however was delicious, we ate all of our food & wanted more. Its quite rare for me personally say that this was one of the best fish and chips.

the restaurant is functional, the toilets a little basis .......... but the food is wonderful ... a small fish, chips is more than big enough for every one in my family and so reasonably priced

A colleague and I were in March doing some business and running some errands around the Fens recently and we decided to pay this charming little cafeteria style chip shop a visit. We were warmly welcomed by the staff, and enjoyed our food in a convivial atmosphere. The fish was fresh, the batter was crispy, the chips were up there with the best chip shop chips I've ever had, and the mushy peas - wow. Do not miss this treat! 5* STAR STAR STAR STAR STAR

we went here one week because we was in the mood for fish and chips the staff was friendly we had a good portion of food and it was good quality but a little pricey as we had the same quality and portion size at other places for a little less But i would come back here again

Lovely fish shop and cafeteria. Prices quite good, food plentiful. You certainly get a good helping. Three sizes on offer small, medium, large. Service very friendly and cheerful. If you have a boat like us there is mooring outside in the town centre. Probably the best chip shop in March.

I was working in town and stumbled upon the best fish and chips I've had in a long time. The Cod was really tasy, and such a generous portion, with not too much batter (I hate it when you dig your fork in to discover that the fish is hiding, but not the case here).The chips were perfectly done, in fact the whole meal was really top class, and very reasonably priced. Me and another 5 musicians were down from Manchester & Leeds for a gig in March last night. 4 hour drive + soundcheck = starving before the show. We found The Riverside after one of our group spotted the sign on the main road in March, and I'm glad she did! We ordered take out food...The fish & chips were fantastic; great portion, very reasonable prices, very cleanly cooked and very tasty. Perfect. George (the owner?) came out for a chat, made us a coffee, lovely guy. Only slight issue was that we had a show to do after...! We go all over the country and this place was genuinely one of the best. Go and check it out, it's really good...

Fish and chips twice, was not nice. In a cold room in the back we was served fish and chips,the fish wasn't cooked it had uncooked batter in middle, we did complain and was offered free meal next time

Visited this fish and chip restaurant and whilst the food was OK I discovered it only has a two star food hygiene rating. How difficult can it be for a small restaurant to achieve a 4 or 5 like most others in March

A very popular chip shop in the town of March. I had two cod and chips regular size and it came to £8.90.The meal itself was delicious. A lovely sized piece of cod and was cooked just perfectly.Nice sized portion of chips to.Would highly recommend a visit.

I tried this the other evening and was very pleasantly surprised. Food was tasty, hot and not too expensive at all. The counter staff were courteous and cheerful. All in all, very nice and worth a visit.Thanks, I'll call again.

In an excellent location on the March riverside - in the heart of the town but away from the busy traffic - this fish and chip shop provides an excellent range of delicious dishes at value prices, served by friendly, capable staff in a bright, clean, cheerful environment. Fish and chips as tradition demands; excellent.

My husband and I were very short on time one lunchtime before he ha to go to work and decided to pop in for a bite, best idea yet!It's small and quirky if not a little strange in the cafe/restaurant area but it suits its purpose.We both agreed the chips were wonderful. We will definitely 'pop' in for lunch again.

I would recommend you try this place the owner and other staff are friendly, nice and kind, kinda funny too. There restaurant is comfortable and welcoming. They are the only Fish and Chip shop too do a delivery service and I've tried this and its quick 15-20 mins and the delivery people are friendly.
