Went on Tuesday, turns out it gluten-free night , wow fish was massive, chips a plenty generous portions, freshly prepared cooked to order, top quality ingredients, spotlessly clean throughout, friendly polite staff would definitely recommend, and will definitely be back

Excellent service, very clean and tidy shop, the best fish and chips that I've ever had, and I've been eating fish and chips for decades, and all over the country. The fish was wonderful; fresh, cooked expertly, crunchy where it mattered - a pure delight. The chips were equally good, and the portions better than any other. I had a large haddock and regular chips (see photos). For the first time ever, I had my fish and chips without my ketchup. I just wanted to taste it before driving off but once I did that I didn't stop till I had finished it. I'll be back there today for another go. If you happen to be in Whittlesey or Peterborough, and really like fish and chips, I'd heartily recommend the Royal Fish Bar.

Always a good chippy. Portion size is amazing! chips and fish are cooked well. I had a veggie burger from here once that was fairly standard. but other than that, the value for money is amazing. I ordered what i would usually order at another long-standing chippy (around the corner) in Whittlesey and the portion I got fed me and my partner. Always a friendly service. Décor could be updated a bit, but people usually take-away anyway.

First time going seemed very busy which is a good thing, cash only which is sometimes annoying but no issue, food seems fresh and quality wasn’t great especially the donner very cheap quality. Service was okay main staff member was quite rude but others were nice. Would be going back to try other stuff. Overall not too bad could be better.

Always come here when visiting relations. Portion size huge - service great. Only issue this last visit was the price. We went on line and ordered from the menu. The bill should have been £21.60. When I collected the order it was £28.20 and a receipt was attached. I queried the amount and was told I must have used an out of date menu. When I said it was online I was told they weren’t on line So I asked for a new menu. They didn’t have any. Nothing wrong with the food - they just need to keep their web pages up to date. (Which I checked afterwards by the way).

The best chippy I have ever visited it. Service was excellent, I ordered a cod and chips and it came fresh and quick and was very tasty. I would recommend this place to everyone, there is also spacious seating area if u would like to sit down and enjoy ur meal. The place is also very hygienic.

They are fast, friendly and good quality food. Although if you aren't big eaters a portion of chips I'd definitely enough for two of you.

Ordered small battered sausage and child portion of chips, plus piece of cod but no chips. No mention that they don't do child portion of chips. When I got home I discovered huge cod with requested battered sausage and then a massive portion of chips - enough left over to feed at lease 10 kids - really annoyed so I rang them up and he said he told me only two size chips £2 and £3.50. Nothing said at the counter, so really not happy with them. Apart from trying to cover up, there was a massive amount of waste. Also the fish was way too big and not very tasty either. Half was left and the cat will have it. Batter was way too greasy and tasteless. Also left a taste in my mouth that is indicative of oil or fat needing to be changed. Horrible. This is the second time I've gone there (for my grandchild not for me) and there is no way I will ever go in there again. It might suit other people but not my personal taste. I absolutely hate food wastage!

Had gluten free fish and chips the last two weeks and quite frankly it's probably the best we have had. Good portion especially the fish which is meaty and not half batter. Lovely will be back.

GREAT people and great food! Definitely value for money when feeding a hungry family, we stopped eating at friar tucks when they introduced trays for the chips as the amount did not feed us! DEFO recommend! And the sales service great! Always helps me spend a little more! Lol!

Wow was on a recovery job bank holiday Monday trying to find food that was open , came across this on trip advisor, COVID compliant firstly, friendly staff, fantastic service, the food was exceptional, the value and portions are incredible, piping hot freshly cooked tasty fish and chips definitely worth a visit

Great fish and chips, always consistent, friendly

Bigest portions I have ever been given, I wanted one large Haddock I got two what they call standard Haddocks freshley cooked for the same price as they said their large wasn't as big as it should be. The regular ones I got still hung over the large dinner plate both ends. Fantastic plaice. ;-)

Called in on way home one evening. Ordered 1 large cod 1 medium cod and 1 portion chips plus a box of salad. The fish was really good and freshly cooked. Lovely crunchy batter. Freshly cooked chips really nice. Nice box of salad to accompany the meal. We enjoyed a plentiful meal and had enough left for lunch the next day. Highly recommend a visit if your in the area. Dining in also available. Staff really friendly and helpful. Nice coffee and cold drinks to accompany dining in.

This is normally my fish and chip shop of choice in Whittlesey. The chips are really good and the portions are huge (which is nice but sometimes it can be a bit too much!) The fish batter is really tasty here too. The queues are generally shorter than round the corner at Friar Tucks and less waiting is always a bonus. It would be nice if the manager (I assume he's the manager) flashed a smile once in a while though! I definitely recommend here.

Tried this after hearing good reviews. I wasn’t disappointed! Ordered large fish and chips and it was so large it could have fed 2 adults !!!! The food was very good quality and reasonable prices. Will use this place again

We called in on our way home from friends and ordered some food to take away, the staff were friendly and efficient, we waited for 5 - 10 minutes while the food was cooked. The food was absolutely delicious - the best I have had in a while and I will definitely be returning.

It has seating so you can eat in It is accsessable for disabled which is great It is lovely and clean the staff are always very nice They do Gluton free as wellm

Horrible greasy anaemic chips, threw em away, and the pitta bread was so hard couldn't open it no wonder they just put it In the box without the meat inside dissappinting😔

Our first visit to this restaurant at lunchtime today. We had the Senior Citizens meal, only £6 each for cod, chips, mushy peas and a tea or coffee. We expected a small serving, the fish was a good size and loads of chips. Service was brilliant, happy to serve our tea after our meal, and the chef came over twice to make sure everything was ok. Both the fish and the chips were perfectly cooked. Definitely going back

We visit here on occasions an always receive a very warm welcome. It is spotlessly clean. The food is very good and reasonably priced. We're always asked part way through our meal if everything is OK.

What a great fish and chip shop this is. Very friendly staff and always go above and beyond what is expected. Well worth a visit.

Fish over cooked, chips under cooked and some raw. Need to cook chips for longer and keep an eye on there fish. Royal fish bar, Whittlesey used to be lovely fresh food it has gone down hill

Not just fish and chips here🍟, several other dishes to choose from, and good choices too. Food always plentiful, well cooked, tasty and hot. Friendly staff, and great coffee, main cafe area and cooking area scrupulously clean. Only one downside ... The customer toilet always smells of cigarette smoke which is very off-putting. Perhaps a smoke detector installation would stop this happening, along with a "No Smoking" sign like those in every other eating establishment in the UK!

This place is fantastic, at the Causeway Fish Bar you know you will always leave full and satisfied. Huge portions, amazing quality food and the friendliest staff around, they even have gluten free fish on a Tuesday! The Causeway is always our first choice when we want to treat our large family, there is something on the menu for all tastes, the burgers are a big hit here; as is the huge portion of fish. The chips are delicious and you even have the option to eat in at their tables if you want to. The staff go out of their way to help, the customer service here is absolutely fabulous. They run special events at Christmas, even Santa knows where to go for the best food!

I have used the royal fish bar since it opened !!! There is no need to go anywhere else. Tha quality of the food is away faultless and excellent. Its worth the short wait time as everything is cooked fresh.

This time the meal from the Royal Fish Bar was served at the Conservative Quiz night. They were almost the only reason that we went, again splendidly cooked and really thick fish with lashings of chips. These set the nights quiz and were enjoyed by all that I knew. First class again Mr Royal Fish Bar.

We have used Royal since it opened and have never had a single issue. Staff friendly and polite. Food always fresh. Portions more than adequate. Establishment always clean and tidy. Perfect for a eating in or taking away!

We ordered senior fish n chips for £5.50 it came with tea or coffee and a choice of mushy peas or curry sauce. The fish was huge ( i'm not complaining cos hubby loves his fish) it was not at all greasy, (it is very hard to find non-greasy batter). The staff was pleasant and the fish bar looks clean and tidy. We thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful and will definitely go back again. Gluten free day is Tuesday.
