Riverside in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Following on from my previous review I took the food back. Explained what was wrong with it. The old man was not happy and didn't give us a full refund as we'd ate some. As we left he begged us not to say anything to anyone. Well I've not spoken to anyone I've just posted on here.

Food was terrible! Satay chicken skewers were delivered as a few pieces of chicken smothered in breadcrumbs, with a tasteless sauce. Chicken and bean sprouts in barbecue sauce- sauce completely lacking In any flavour. Obviously had been coked in old oil, as taste was badly tainted. Chicken chow mein , again tainted taste. Extremely disappointing. Will not use this restaurant again.

Food was awful, fried rice burnt, beef was pink, with a funny taste so was the foo yung, very disappointed

order was delivered well before the estimated delivery time. very quick from time of placing order to delivery.

Food is normally really nice… but tonight was awful! Satay veg my friend couldn’t eat, veg spring rolls were had thick outer rather than thin and egg fried rice was stodgy tasting overcooked and flavourless. Not usual quality at all really disappointed

First time ordering here.. I thought I would try it after a previous order from somewhere else turned up cold and wet…..no complaints…. On time… food was hot and tasty and will defo order again

I went in and ordered a chicken curry and chips and sat down expecting to wait at least 10 mins. To my surprise, the man returned in less than five minutes with my order. It was warm ups and refries. It was disgusting, all I could taste was salt. And the chips were cleary refries from the previous night !

Definitely not ordered from them again the food is tasteless and I was missing some of the dishes I ordered so we as a family didn't get all our meal and had to share. It's Definitely a no from me .

Great transaction throughout. Rang to check delivery times and find us. Delivery by a lovely man and the food was nice. You can tell this is a family working hard to make their business work. Best wishes for them

Chips was under cook, ribs had no meat on also the king prawn curry which was £10 have about three prawns

The bbq sauce on the special was thick and glupy! The chips and egg fried rice was cold. The crispy duck I paid £9 for was a slice of duck breast! Never ordering again!

If you want food that is tasteless but ready fast with a chance of food poisoning then that's the place to go. Chicken chow mein - basically just plain noodles with dried chicken, tasteless. Chef special fried rice- the meats were dry and some were rock hard, otherwise it was tasteless, the bbq sauce in it tastes like watered down oil. Pretty sure the rice was not fresh. Sweet and Sour Chicken- the chicken balls had no flavour and the dough around it didn't seem fully cooked. The sweet&sour sauce was weird, didn't taste like sweet&sour sauce. Chinese Pancake roll- tasteless, basically just had few onions and lots of bean sprouts in it and something that looked like sliced ham.... Chipped potatoes aka chips - well out of everything we ordered this was the only thing that was good, over salted but i like salt. 2 out of 4 ended up with some sort of food poisoning... Wanted to give them another chance so ordered rice and bbq sauce... well that was a waste of £6.30 as it went straight to the bin ( the sauce smelt horrible, the texture had weird plasticy slimy bits in it - and I have had bbq sauce from many many different Chinese take aways across UK this deffo wasn't a bbq sauce, the rice didn't look good either so decided not to risk it.) Also the place has mouldy walls that my partner noticed when he picked up the 2nd chance order .. don't want to imagine what the kitchen looks like... Don't risk it.

Extremely greasy, so much so the curry was split and had a full layer of oil on the top. Avoid this place

We arrived on holiday today. Our first order. Not nice at all. Ordered Plain chow mein good Egg fried rice. Dry Ordered chicken in king po sauce USUALLY this is (chicken in batter with spicy sauce) got sweet and sour chicken which included tomato, sauce watery, NO chilli. Beef in black bean. Watery no chilli for flavour. Salt & pepper chicken dry. Chicken ball’s DELICIOUS. Very polite driver We will stick to a pasty.

Weve used riverside alot over the years but our meal this time was awful. Barely any sauce with the hong kong style chicken and just completely tasteless. Soggy chips, none of it tasted fresh really dissapointed.

Food was good/ok. Chicken satay looked like it was deep fried and slightly burned. The Singapore noodles could have done with more chilli and the pancake roll was just wrapped up beansproats

The food was cold and misleading. I thought I had ordered traditional dim sum and got an array of cold prawn toasts, Chinese rolls etc which is not the same as dim sum as far as I’m concerned. While the food came quickly it was cold and which was rubbish

Arrived earlier than expected & really yummy

I went there on Saturday 28th July at 5.00 when it opened, it didn't take long. Got home it wS cold and burnt noddles and onion rings and the main meals were tasteless., I won't be going back there again.

Unfortunately the meal was extremely disappointing this time. The chips were overcooked and hard. The BBQ sauce smelled awful and the curry was not of the usual good quality. Riverside use to be our favourite, so it’s very sad

Worst chinese ive had. Tasteless noodles, the chicken and pineapple was awful. Didn't eat it. Waste of money, very disappointing. Tasted like no seasoning at all in any of it.

Disappointed to spend that much money for a disappointing meal. Prawn toast was hard and no prawns in it,meat was fatty and bland, no flavour. Way too much salt on the chips. Use to order From here well not again

The food was a bit late (40 mins), however it was Xmas Eve so although i have to mark it as late, we weren't worried at all. The food was great & there was loads of it. Merry Xmas all.

Had a £10 just eat voucher sent by just eat. Ordered through the app using my voucher (£10 taking off my order at checkout) and went to collect the food and was told I had to pay full price as they don’t except just eat vouchers.

Food itself was good but the first mouthful I took had some sort plastic/metal bag tie typically used for bags of prawn crackers. Staff could be more wary when packaging food

This is the worst Chinese food I have ever had. We had one last year whilst on holiday and it was very good which is why we didn't hesitate ordering again. The restaurant food has gone downhill massively. There was no taste to anything, it was all bland and the food quality was poor at best. Would not recommend. Wanted to contact the restaurant directly but it closes at 21:00 and there is no email address.

Great service and food is excellent

Usually really good and my local Chinese of choice. Today was incredibly greasy, so bad I couldn't eat it, and with little flavour. I phoned to complain, was told it was because of a hygiene inspection today and everyone stressed and feeling the pressure of that. I was told I'd get a free dish and delivery next time I order. Really I think that warranted a refund, but what can you do? Can't blame the man on the phone and no superior told him how to rectify my issue. I understand people can feel stressed but I've spent a fair amount on what was supposed to be a treat that I couldn't even eat because the quality was so bad. 2 stars because usually the food is fine.

Food was 45 mins late, no apology upon delivery. Good sized portions and great quality food.

We asked for our food to be delivered ASP and were given a time frame. Our food actually turned up about 30 minutes before the time frame we were given, which was fantastic and we were starving and so looking forward to our food!! 😋🤤

Best pineapple fritter for a ling time!

Probably the worst chinese I have ever had. To start I had spare ribs in bbq sauce, the meat was fine but the sauce was a very strange tasting gravy and tasted nothing like bbq sauce. I then had the chef special fried rice which had the same sauce/gravy the rest of it was completely tasteless the rice was well over cooked and the rest was horrible. If you like your chinese I would not recommend here which is a shame as it used to be the best around

Brought 3 dishes plus sides, very disappointed. The aromatic duck was really slimey, the rice was burnt in places and the BBQ ribs were disgusting they had hardly any meat on them and the sauce tasted like a greasey gravy not BBQ. Definitely won't be buying from here again. The delivery driver was lovely.

Ordered a couple times, whilst delivery has been quick, and the drivers polite and nice. The food is really bad, we ordered 3 dishes along side some rice. Rice was all burnt. Chow mein, was; watery, bland, slimey and had a really weird after taste. Duck and pineapple, was honestly just gross, again really slimey, and taste like a really underdeveloped caramel sauce, veg wasn't cooked, and duck was really dry, and again, everything was just really slimey. Chicken balls were really soggy and oily. Wouldn't recommend going there, both times I've ordered from them have been exactly the same. Lesson learnt. Good service, bad food

The delivery staff were very nice and early than anticipated so that made us all very happy. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t up to standard. Ordered BBQ ribs but was served in gravy. Chicken balls in lieu of pork with no heads up before accepting the order. General taste wasn’t great. Not one for wasting food but it went straight in the bin after 10 mins of eating. Some of the chicken was chewy. Someone needs to speak to the chef/cook to quality check before sending food across. Overall would not go again but hope the management will correct this in future. Was a cracking business back in the day.

Bland , no taste and gloopy . All the dishes ( other than the chicken balls ) tasted the same . Great delivery driver , but food - avoid .

Had special chow mein, no prawns as said on menu. Although delivery was early the food was cold. Prices have taken a hike. Won't be using again

Rice was burnt, different chicken in between our sweet and sour ones that had a yellow colour and tasted different. Batter was soggy and oily. Crackers were good. It was not a good first time experience I must say.

Good delivery, food was surprisingly good but quite expensive for a Chinese. Suppose they have to charge more, due to just eat taking a high % commission. I was debating ordering due to hygiene rating of 3. Thanks
