Purchased 3 portions of fish and chips @£45. Good size portions of fish terrible chips as they were 50% minute pieces of potatoes. All which cooked in what I must assume was burnt oil which gave the whole meal a nasty flavour of burnt food. I used to live in perranporth 50 years ago and often revisit for holidays. I've never felt compelled to complain about the food offered before. I would usually use another fishshop that's located near the busy crossroads but unfortunately it was closed for the day due to a staff event. I'll never use the shop I used today again will certainly pass my experience on.

Full Cornish Breakfast, food was hot and tasty. Good portions, couldn't finish.. Friendly, polite staff, nothing too much trouble. K

Ordered a takeaway. The chips were anaemic, we were missing one portion of fish and I found a hair in my food!!! Reading all the other recent reviews, it seems like this place really needs to sort itself out as the quality of food has gone down hill... Looking forward to the owner's abusive reply to my honest review... FYl before you come back with my review is a lie (not sure how many bad fake reviews you think you can get away with before admitting there is a problem?) no we didn't bother returning the chips due to the fact you were so rude to customers and us when ordering, that it wasn't worth our time.

Not Gluten Free friendly! Checked whether they could cater for GF which they said they could, when they handed our food they had put non-GF fish on top of the chips. When I explained to them that I couldn’t eat the food due to they’ve now cross contaminated it, it took 3 people working there to understand the issue. Greeted with comments such as “what’s the issue? It’s gluten free chips”. Boys on the till spoke to the other staff whilst I was present and said “no more gluten free it’s far too complicated”. We ended up taking a new batch of chips, but the trust had been lost so I didn’t eat them. Really poor service and concerning that they have no understanding of allergens.

The guy who runs this place is a 24 carat plonker. Even a wally like Rodney realised this when we went in and he was arguing with a customer. To be fair the food was nice and he did smile at us. I'm positive he thrives on confrontation. Just chill out a bit and you will be Bonnet de douche has the french would say. Bonjour

Ordered medium sized cod which was probably half the size you'd expect & as you're made to wait for your food outside you don't get to see what you're getting. I'm pretty sure they don't get many returning customers

My daughter with mobility difficulties needed to sit down and rest while the takeaway was being cooked in the virtually empty restaurant and the staff were really not kind or pleasant about it. We won’t be returning

check your order before you leave, we ordered cod bites but they scammed us & didn't include it the bag. by the time we got home they were closed.

Not too sure what all the fuss is about when you read some poor reviews about Pickwicks Fish & Chips restaurant and takeaway. I used the place twice during our two week holiday (as we do year upon year) and encounteted no problems whatsoever. Food was very nice, staff were pleasant and polite and the cost was ok too. I must admit that I was looking for the so called 'ogre' who owns the place to see exactly for myself. I engaged in conversation and we had a little chat and I found him a very pleasant man indeed. They're all just probably very busy trying to keep up with their orders getting food out in reasonable time. Top drawer to you all from me anyway. Thank you.

Went here arrived at 12.45 and was told to hurry up as close at 2 the price was outrageous 114 pounds for 2 cod n chips pasty chips and beans haddock and chips and kids chicken nuggets with chips although food was nice very expensive sure they have tourist rates and locals rate I can assure you we was told to hurry and 114 pound is ridiculous

Anemic soggy chips. I rarely leave food but on this occasion it was so unpleasant. One chip was actually still cold. Go to the haddocks end.

Fish was fleshy and batter really light, better then the other 'chippie' in the village who dont even sell cod roe! Service was friendly and took time to have a chat, best bit is that its cooked in good ol beef dripping, this is what makes a good fish and chip, beats rick stein, harry ramsdens hands down! If you are in the area its a must!

Overpriced and charge extortionate prices to sit in. Chips inedible and large more like a regular. Staff miserable. Definitely avoid. Clearly from the response of staff to any bad reviews they are not very nice individuals, not somewhere you want to spend your money.

You would imagine fish and chips by the seaside to be amazing, how disappointed we were, the oil has most certainly not been changed recently as the chips were full of black bits and tasted terrible, the fish was overcooked and dry, overpriced waste of money.

I have never, ever tasted such revolting fish and chips. I would like to say after owning my own fish and chips shop in Scotland that I would have been absolutely embarrassed selling this food onto any customer. If I wasn't staying in the caravan after my partner travelling 6 mile, I would have returned the contents, which I regret that I didn't now. I have read some of the owners comments and instead of taking positive critisim, the owner resorts to being abusive as they don't like the honesty of the reviews. I would also like to say that the young chap behind the counter was also rude according to my partner. Please don't waste your money, there is a far better chip ship around the corner with pleasant staff. P.s after reading your response, I rest my case. Funny how I have read similar comments to mine and all you do is make out that the customer is rude. This is the kind of intelligence known as arrogance. Lovely friendly people. Great freshly cooked food. We had the small cod and chips with mushy peas had to leave some peas and a few chips as even the small is a good size portion. Table 12 is a magical table set out for the larger amongst us. We thought this to be a very good idea as I'm no racing snake We would definitely return if we are in the area again.

Rip off so stay clear £19 for 2 tiny portions, anemic chips, undercooked and over priced. They make you wait outside so you don't see how bad their portions are. Is this what Perranporth is, a tacky rip off town, Pickwicks defiantly push that. Owner saying good riddance just about sums up this place, all money, no care for the customer, at least MCDS cook their food.

We had Regular / Standard Cod n Chips twice. Good portion size and the cost was in line with what we would expect to pay elsewhere when eating in. Staff did make it clear on entry to restaurant that we could only order off menu. I found the staff to be welcoming.

Didn't get chance to try the food. Waited 10 mins to be served only to be told we can't pick and choose from the restaurant menu. Wanted to order 3 main meals and 1 curry sauce and chips. Instead they refused. Customer who was waiting to pay advised us not to bother as she explained to us you can't just order chips in a chip shop?? I'd say the poor reviews are the truth here. Don't be put off as I never got to try the food. But seems a silly rule they have and won't make any exceptions. Obviously not a struggling chip shop in this current climate. Your reply proves you judge people , a social services facility that's mighty rude. So today we visited this place for dinner we sat in the restaurant part and after 10 mins my husband stood up to order and asked the man stood in white chef clothes do we order here or there to which he replied what do you want my husband said to order food, the man said she'll come to the table and take your order. After another 10 mins a lady came to us and asked for our order. We asked for chips and curry sauce for our 1 daughter straight away were greeted with you cant ask for that its not on the restaurant menu my husband asked even if we want another 3 meals totally near on £50, they said no you cant pick and choose in the restaurant so we said forget it we'll leave it if you can afford to give up a big order for the sake of a plate of chips in a chippy but the owners were adamant no they werent serving just chips. My husband has wrote a honest review on google and got a response that its a restaurant not a social service facility i find this totally offensive judgemental and insensitive in the current climate, i am a teacher my husband a successful company director of a very successful independent car garage and yet we were judged because we ordered a portion of chips for 1 daughter. What a horrible rude judgemental racist place never again will I even contemplate this place. Please feel free to give me your response as I feel sure you will in your rude offensive manor. But in your response can you explain what you mean by social service facility!!!!!!! In response to the owner A, the racist part acknowledges 2 things 1 being while we sat there an Asian family came in and as soon as they walked in the staff were constantly saying we cook un beef dripping we cook in beef dripping then the family placed an order and were asked to wait outside!!!!!! A very good fish & chips, and a great start to the holiday. I think some of the other reviews are a tad harsh. We arrived just before closing and while my partner was informed he couldn’t order fish, due to the approaching closing time, the staff were polite and courteous in explaining this. (He ended up ordering a battered sausage instead). It cost about £15 in total for two decent-sized meals with a drink, which is fair enough. Anyone moaning about the price hasn’t been to the south of the UK. Quality-wise, the food was very good. I quite liked the beef dripping and I feel like it had just the right amount used during the cooking process. You could definitely taste it, but it wasn’t overbearing or overwhelming. I can’t really comment on the atmosphere as admittedly we ate in the car! Overall, I’d say it’s a good place to grab some fish & chips. I’ve been to others in the area previously and I’d say Pickwicks holds it’s own pretty well.

We have been eating fish and chips at this Perranporth location for over 20 years. We popped back today to reminisce and had battered sausage and savoloy and chips and ate them by the sea. They are by far the best chips and the battered sausage was out of this world perfect. Thank you for always being amazing x. 👏

Thanks for serving us at closing time even though you were about to close with key in hand as we arrived at about a minute before 7pm. Food was all polished off soon after so must have been good!

We phoned ahead as my daughter has Coeliac disease so cannot have gluten. The restaurant explained that they didn't do gluten-free batter but instead offered to cook her a piece of steamed fish. The rest of our group had cod and chips (plus one kids cod bites). All the fish was excellent, nice chunky cod and very well cooked - crispy batter and flakey moist fish. The chips were 'proper' chip shop chips and tasted lovely.

Travelled to Perranporth many times over the years, and always been to Pickwicks. Visited again today at lunch time, and to be frank, feel as if some of the reviews are unfair. Food was good, fresh and the chips were delicious. Little bit of a wait but expected, as there is a sign clearly stating that all food is cooked fresh!! Both workers were lovely to me, no issues at all😁

We ate here last Saturday afternoon, I can honestly say it's probably one of the best pieces of battered cod I had. Both fish & chips were great, decent size portions, clean restaurant & lovely couple running it. Deffo would go back there

Arrived at opening time 4:45pm. First in the door and 25 minutes to get my food. Portion size was really small. Chips were soggy. Sausage was half battered. Overpriced. Do not spend your money here.

All staff except the chef were unprofessional, me and my wife cannot eat fish contaminated with other foods such as pork and beef dripping due to religious reasons. Andy and the other lady inside were threatening when explained this to them, didn’t want to listen, and even locked the door on other customers, keeping them locked inside the building. Andy is a known person in Perranporth for horrible behaviour and customer service. The notice for the dripping was covered and yet Andy, despite camera footage proving him wrong, still wanted to argue, and throw his hands up into my wife’s face. I wouldn’t come here, and I wouldn’t expect Andy to ever change his horrific behaviour. In Response To Businesses Reply: At no point was I rude and judging by all of the bad reviews of your place I am going to stand and guess that you tend to be horrible to many customers. You chose to paint me as the person in the wrong saying that I had no justification for a refund and that the sign wasn’t blocked for a period of time, had this been the case, I don’t believe that after reviewing the proof, the banks would’ve refunded the transaction for me and my wife. You chose to be arrogant, petty, aggressive, you even chose to lock your own customers inside the shop, I think it’s time that you start reading your reviews, and taking them onboard rather than just trying to dismiss them constantly. If you continue to be rude and aggressive to customers like you were to me and my wife, I doubt that anyone else will come to you for much longer and your ‘many’ real customers which may I add is about 5 friends of yours, will not be able to provide enough income to cover bills and rent.

I was so happy to see the notice up about cooking in beef dripping. I find it embarrassing to have to ask. Unfortunately I cannot eat rapeseed oil and almost all places use it in their fryers. This is literally the only place I can get chips from in town. Thankfully they're really nice chips! 😁😋. The lady and gentlemen serving were polite and friendly. Will definitely be returning.

Went to this chip shop yesterday, the staff especially Andy was very rude in his attitude. The food was so greasy and so very expensive!!!, portions were so small that they looked like a child’s portion. I’ve also put a review on trip advisor. I would never go back to this chip shop, be warned stay away!!!! My reply to your reply, we was in there yesterday I’ll have you know. Visited evening time for takeaway. Slow service by irritated older couple, both with mobility issues. Overpriced and despite sign to contrary, chips were greasy and limp. No room to stand after ordering and extraction was so poor I came out wanting to shower to get rid of acrid cooking smells. Do not recommend at all and will not visit ever again.

Lost for words, worst experience iv ever had. the chips was soggy and the foot long sausage was absolutely revolting please avoid, The quality was less than one star and the rude old over weight man was out of this world. Another bad review here. We bought a fish and chips lunch to take away and eat with with friends yesterday. We live in Cornwall and this was the worst fish and chips we’ve ever had. They had a special listed of hake at £9 for a regular potion. I thought great - local fish instead of Icelandic cod. When asked if it’s Cornish the answer was no. To add insult to injury the staff are surly and the prices much higher than other fish and chip shops across Cornwall. We know the local prices as we are not tourists down for the week. Wish we had had time to check the reviews here before ordering.

Wow, just checked other reviews to see if our own experience was isolated. Can’t believe how the owner abuses people for their comments. Everyone is entitled to make a review about their experience at an eating establishment! He is so rude towards people and doesn’t deserve to have genuine honest people spend their hard earned cash in his ‘restaurant’. We had breakfast here, it was ‘ok’. However, I thought the place could do with a damn good clean. None of the stainless steel areas looked clean or if they had been wiped down after the last service. We ordered cappuccino at £3.50 each. It was too weak to get over the edge of the cup and sent it back. The lad who served us offered to put an espresso shot it in, which we accepted. I still could not drink mine, it was like dishwater. They not only charged for the coffee I couldn’t drink, but another £2.50 for the espresso shot! Won’t be eating here again. The owner needs to take onboard customer reviews and do something to improve customer service, cleanliness and staff appearance instead of defensively attacking innocent customers who are genuinely upset with their experience!

Run down sea side location, feels like it hasn’t been decorated since 1984, friendly enough family ran staff, but not sure if it’s meant to be a cafe or a fish and chip shop, but it certainly isn’t like any other fish and chip shops anywhere in the country. Eating in, they don’t do just a portion of chips, this is because the prices are massively inflated - £16.25 for a pasty and chips… bare in mind you’ll find a good pasty for £4 most places in Cornwall… so that’s what, £12 for the pleasure of some chips and sitting in to eat? They also have a sign saying about how their chips are “local” therefore have some defects etc… fine, but isn’t that every chip shop? It seems overly defensive to tell you that from the get go. Overall, I’d recommend just going somewhere else if you’re after a cheap chippy lunch. Edit: read some other reviews after posting mine, suggestion to the owner; Read the room… staggering amount of your reviews complain about very similar things and there’s a trend. Don’t be so defensive, the only thing keeping you alive is being a seaside location it seems, Google reviews aren’t kind to you for a reason.

No matter how good the chips might be, a 45 minute wait for 2 portions of food on a Monday evening is not great..! Maybe for a sit down meal but not to take away. The staff made no effort to communicate that before or during the wait, just leaving everyone confused and frustrated which is unprofessional and it shows Thank you for the response. I see now, having read a few reviews during my wait, what kind of business this is and the approach you take to customer service. If I had been told about the estimated wait time before ordering then I wouldn’t have the led to stand on, however I wasn’t, so I am not fazed. I can only suggest more transparency with your customers when they are ordering, be that prices, wait times, allergen information etc. Thanks

Can’t rate food - disabled husband & I were not allowed to enter and sit at a table to wait for the 20 mins that we were told was the delay. Ridiculous excuse was that there was not enough staff and to come back in 20 mins although there were plenty of empty tables and a few people already seated (must have been friends of the owner). We were polite and respectful unlike the boy who passed on the messages from the grumpy chef/cook/owner? It was 12 o’clock so we obviously wanted a proper lunch (which we’d said) and we’re not trying to get in for breakfast so Pickwicks please don’t try to use that as an excuse for not allowing us in… I think common decency would have allowed two disabled 70+ year olds to sit down to wait. It seems strange that there are so many extreme differences in ratings. Perhaps one should call ahead to check what mood the chap is in before going here - although I think the positive reviews are fake so wouldn’t bother… Anyway, above all else there is no excuse for rudeness. Just a reply to the response from the owner- don’t you dare call me a liar - my husband has a blue disabled badge and we both use walking sticks! I’m happy to stand outside your ‘restaurant’ and show them to anyone who wants proof. You’re showing your true colours by this libel! I would add that fortunately The Cove and The Perranporth Inn are both staffed by friendly delightful people and the food is delicious and reasonably priced.

This is a fantastic chipshop. The reviews don't show any comparison to the actual place. The owner is a lovely gentleman who looks after his customers. The staff there are extremely pleasant and the food is great. Never had a bad meal here for the past 24 years. Give them a break. The cost everywhere is so high these days. Quality and worth it.

Visited Perranporth Beach yesterday with the family and decided to grab some food from this chippy whilst walking through the town. Can certainly see why there are so many low score reviews for this place and wish I hadn't given them the money. Order was taken by a young gent who was friendly enough and I had no issues with his customer service. Food was average, warm (not hot) and over priced. Nearly £4 for a small bag of luke warm chips. They're charging pub / eat in prices for takeaway food, I did recently get Fish, Chips, Peas, Tartare Sauce from a local establishment for £15.95, it was hot, served with a smile and very tasty. To top off my experience with this business, we waited over 20 min for the food along with many other customers and the waiting is outside on the street until your number is called, after about 15min my 3 year old desperately needed a wee as they do. We asked the older gentleman who I presume is the owner if our 3 year old could use the toilet to which he replied it's for restaurant customers only and informed us to go use a public toilet elsewhere. Honestly couldn't believe the answer he gave after he'd taken nearly £30.00 from us at which point our food was still not ready. So, to the grumpy old man, back to the school of customer service for you, think you need to smile a little more and appreciate the fact people are willing to support your small business when times are hard. Disgraceful service and I would suggest people give this a read before eating her, maybe go further down the road and use the other chippy.

Look at prices before you order as normal size fish and chips is over £18. Small is just over £10

Good food but a very uncomfortable place to sit bench seat that don't move you have to try and slide in and your posture for eating to me was too upright ok noif you are of small atature

Avoid at all cost, fish was shocking and not would £8.50, much better places than this one, save your money !!

came across this place whilst on holiday and decided to enter as we had been on our feet all day, saw a closed sign on the restaurant and turned to leave when we was told it was open so we went to sit down, we looked at the menu and saw it was quite pricey but thought we was in here now and it must be really good to be that cost, the lady who served was extremely nice and friendly, I ordered the special and was told it was sold out so I decided to go for the scampi, and my wife had haddock and chips, let me tell you the portions were absolutely tiny, I got literally about 15 chips and 6 pieces of scampi for £16, and my wife got about the same amount of chips, no complaints about the haddock, in the end we paid £37 for scampi and chips, haddock and chips, 2 drinks and a curry sauce, complete rip off. we went round the corner and saw a chippy where we could get the same for literally half the price, and just eaten on the sea front, the place itself was very dingy and cramped and really needs an update, I would never go here again. I am aware that the cost of potatoes and fish has risen in the last few months but other chip shops are no where as expensive ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING EDIT AFTER OWNER RESPONSE how can you call yourself a business owner when you purely insult someone who have a negative review, surely you'd be looking to improve to change it to a positive, I'm a petty reviewer, your a miserable person who preys on holiday makers by claiming to be the best. false advertisement. XXL scampi I've had better and larger scampi from Iceland, yours is purely a battered prawn. the chip shop round the corner states you get 10 scampi with them, for nearly £10 less with chips. 15 chips was a guess as it was very little, and I'm sorry weighing out the chips for every portion is extremely petty. whilst we was there you told another family that a kids portion of nuggets was 3 nuggets...3. you get more in a happy meal. and you obviously can't read as I stated I am aware of the price increases in ingredients, however the price increase to cost ratio in your establishment is not correlating with other restaurants around, you must be pocketing quite a large amount because it's certainly not being reinvested in the wrong turn esque horror show of a restaurant

Came down to get a breakfast with 2 small children, wanted one full breakfast and little one wanted a sausage bap which was told could only get on takeaway, customer service was shocking, it was dirty and glad we didn't stick around to eat, went over to COVE who were absolutely lovely. Didn't feel like prison. To your comment I was rude to you lol, ok if I was rude describe who I was and my family, and when it was I came down? Your board was not something we could see till we sat down, now hilarious as it was empty and you couldn't even do a basic sausage bap for a child but can do it as a takeaway, what sort of company are you, you actually going to sit there behind your screen and say I was rude when we didn't actually say anything we just got up and left yeah very rude lol. Practise on your customer service, and your hygiene, none of you look like you have taken a shower in months, you want to start being insulting well let's play because like most reviews on here where you degrade customers leaving honest reviews I will tear you down a notch because you have met your match. Go have a shower and learn to serve your customers with a service. You think having a roll is the problem here, clearly your only looking at what you want to pick at and not the whole picture you absolute imbecile. Hissy fit, no the fact that there was nothing on your menu for kids is a problem. Your trying to promote a business a service but your not giving a service. If you walk in to a shop and you a customer assistant for item if they don't have it they show you an alternative, if they can, but you gave no alternative neither an alternative menu for a kid, sorry but my little one would not eat a 1 years old a small breakfast, and that's all you had to offer a small or large breakfast. Your incompetence of running a business with your disgusting attitude, if you think this is a hissy fit then you are clearly living under a solid rock. Reviews are left so that a business can become better, all you care about is your stinking pride, again you sit there and say I was rude but can't even recount who I was. So clearly making up lies to try and make yourself feel better, your an embarrassment to yourself, to the fish and chip shop industry and to PERRANPORTH.

Awful!! The cod was ok. The chips were so small and full of oil. At $25 for two medium cod and chips , we were so excited for our treat of the day considering the price increase in take out food. Save your hard earned cash for somewhere better than Pickwicks.

Over priced chips you don't get enough to fill a child and shocking price. Went down to St Ives loads cheaper and a meal that filled us up .your trying to pay your wages and you only open for 2 hours so your high price is ripping your customers of try working a few more hours

Just picked up a couple of portions of small chips and i have to say the emphasis is on the word small. Literally 15 chips for around £3.60 each. Should be fair with the portion size. You must be being hit hard down here in cornwall....we have seen increases in prices in our local chippy, but only pence and the portions are nothing like yours.

Visited yesterday for takeaway, my daughter (adult) asked to use the toilet and was told its for restaurant customers only, chips and curry sauce were average, we won't be returning, edited due to response from business, so you are also liars then, if i was told the toilet was out of order I would have accepted that but I was lied to, doesn't bode well does it

Food was great, can’t grumble at all about that. Fish was lovely, partner had roe and that was really good as well. My only grumble is the price. We sat in and paid £48 for large fish & chips, roe & chips, kids fish & chips and 2 drinks which I think is massively over priced for what is essentially a chip shop with seating. Noticed the difference in price from sitting in and taking away was huge and if I had of known this I wouldn’t have sat in. Edit after response - Your responses are nothing but rude. What I didn’t mention in my review as I was trying to be polite is that you all look like a bunch of inbreeds, the women that served us looked like she hadn’t showered in a month and was rude. it fell like I had walked into a scene from the hills have eyes.

Portion sizes and price reasonable. My three old had chicken nuggets. Proper chicken, possibly the best chicken nuggets I've tasted. Very happy with chips and fish. Just blown away my the chicken was not expecting that at all.

Been coming to Pickwicks for many years , and have seen one change in ownership and have never had any issues, We always had our meal in the seating area but on this occasion it was closed, therefore ended up with a take away. Enjoyed the fish and chips that much we went back the next night, I am sure we will visit again before our holiday is over. Must say it is a long time since I have had fish of this quality. And cooked to perfection. Thank You Barry

We are going to miss Pickwick! While on holiday and walking on the beach we were hit by the lovely aroma of fish and chips being cooked in beef dripping - just as they should be. We followed our noses to Pickwick's and had some of the best fish and chips we have tasted in years. They are a few pounds more expensive than other local fryers but the taste and lovely crunchy batter make it worth the expense. We enjoyed their food so much we visited 3 times in the week we spent nearby. If you do not like food cooked in animal fat please go to a different chippy. The staff were eager to please and I got on well with them but their sense of humor may not be understood by some. Keep up the good work guys! All the best Trevor and Heather Chynoweth.

Fish and chips-portions small and dry ☹️

Used pickwicks last year, found the food very greasy. so we had been using the haddocks end (best fish chips ever). sadly the only one open this bank holiday monday was pickwicks. So we gave them another chance. We so wish we hadnt, this fish was small and greasy (even looked like the fat they were using was very old as it had black bits in, as if dropped on the floor (i dought it was dropped on the floor) but just very greasy. the chips were greasy (to the point the takeaway dish had fat in the bottom). the portion for money was small compared to other shops. but that wasnt the issue as they were by far the worse fish and chips we have had. I think its a case as they are on the high street so when holiday makers looking for fish and chips its the first they find. (if you are reading this there are 2 others in perranporth) we asked for salt and vinager, but they even failed to put that on, or maybe that was extra ? very slow serving. We Will never use pickwicks again. Dont take our review for it look at others too, please not the owners neg responses to the neg reviews, really says it all. most would take a neg review and try to take what is said and try better. so it says it all.

Disappointed, waited a very long time for chewy fish and greasy batter

Chips were nice, but the regular portion would have been considered a child's portion anywhere else. Never had a bag of chips so small before. Was left hungry. The fry cook was a bit rude too which was off putting. Wouldn't revisit.

Wow what lovely people and lovely food last night we travelled from monkey tree park to we had the foot long sausage and chips pasty and chips and curry sauce and mushy peas can not fault this place all cooked fresh . And to get beef dripping chips wow yes chips are going to be smaller amounts due to the cost of potatoes and beef dripping so that’s understandable and the lady and owner he had us laughing so much would defo go back if in the area thanks for good food

Come to Perranporth on a lil holiday with my family, and after having a great day at the beach, we craved proper chips with curry sauce and Pickwick's definitely delivered! They cook everything fresh to order, and get locally sourced ingredients from the variety of potatoes they are cooking, to what trawler the cod came from! A cute, family run business, with friendly & competent staff. Who cares about decor?! It's about good food! Plus they cook their chips in "BEEF DRIPPING" 🤤 I mean WOW!!! THE TASTE WAS AMAZING!!!! Best bloody fish & chips I've EVER HAD! THANKYOU PICKWICKS!! SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!!!!! P.s- To all bad reviewers that dissed Pickwicks, I saw your reviews, and I still went in, and i had the best chip shop chips of my life!!! Can't believe how people chat soooo much rubbish! Visited in august 2022, we only came in as the other cafes was full and we was starving(we left still starving) we was made to check our temperature(not sure why covid was high at this moment every where else we went didn’t do this nonsense)we regretted coming in as the place was very dirty and dingy and had a strange vibe, the “chef”(smelly and unhygienic) was sat in his phone and starring at us but didn’t speak at this point, we had to full English breakfast we asked for toast not fried toast… the chef fetched it over and said I’ll eat what you leave so leave it and what came was soggy bread the food was barely warm so we left most of it (not for the “chef”) the bill was rough about £24 I wouldn’t even spend £10 for what we received We left as quickly as we could, felt poorly after being there! I am a manger in a well know food establishment and I would be appalled to work here and to even have staff looking like this! And food tasting this bad! I have no idea how they have a rating to be open this need to be shut down!! We visited this restaurant for breakfast and upon arriving was asked to scan our temperature on the thermometer, bit weird as we are no longer under covid restrictions? Once we came in the restaurant we regretted our decision. The restaurant was cold, dirty cobwebs and very run down. The chef ( old man bit on the large size) was sat opposite us from our seat on his phone, he sneezed whilst we was in restaurant and didn’t wash his hands, then after ordering our food he stood up and went in the kitchen. (UNAWARE IF HE WASHED HIS HANDS). Me and my wife were very concerned and wanted to leave the restaurant, but with the lay out and a gate before entering/ exiting we felt trapped like in a prison and was too anxious to cancel our order. The chef came out with our food, placed them on table and I quote, “if you two leave anything I’ll eat it all up so please leave as much possible” (We left a lot, not for the chef to eat just to save our lives). POTENTIAL FOOD POISONING!!!! We started to eat and was left very disappointed, the egg was raw. Sausage was cold, toast was under beans so soggy bread. The beans had a layer of skin over them so not fresh. We didn’t eat much, I wouldn’t even think we had 1 full breakfast let alone two. We decided to get up, and leave before we was disappointed with anything else. The bill came to £24 for 2 breakfast and 2 cokes, very expensive when you look at the quality of food. Best fish and chips in Perranporth. Batter nice n crispy, delish. Top notch scrappy scraps chips hot n delish. Staff kind too. I will recommend. Yes

Stayed in Perranporth for a week and ate here several times. Fish is lovely, batter crispy and not at all oily. Chips cooked in beef dripping so really flavourful, I also liked the notice about being really potatoes, although sad you have to explain real food to people. Portions are realistic and responsible not mega size and with the cost of fish these days I thought good value. Loved the staff too so funny and friendly, with wicked dry sense of humour, which I totally got.

Haven't been here yet but great responses to reviews 👏 Had a good laugh, will visit to have some fish n chips soon

Really good fish and chips and they also travel home superb which is hard to find these days.
