The red lights & new decor spoil what was a classic pub. Going to try the Raillway instead.

Lovely riverside location, just sat watching the ducks with a nice pint was relaxing. This area was used for much of the filming for Last of the summer wine, many people are not aware of this. Take a look at the church, only 800 yards from the pub and Auntie Wainrights shop was on Oliver Lane just a few hundred yards from the pub, also Co-op where Marina worked ( she also worked at Lodges at Holmfirth but that is no longer there)

Fantastic bustling pub with one of the most fantastic ranges of drinks available. The Christmas Day was brilliant and so good we repeated it on Boxing Day, this time with food! The range of the menu meant no one went disappointed with choice. The food was not only colourful, but also filling and flavoursome…so filling I brought 2 Korean Ribs home in a takeaway box for later! Great value, great tastes and great atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Best pub in the area, hands down. Own beer + good guest ales on both draught and from cask. Great external caterers upstairs + bar food downstairs. This venue gets very busy at weekends. Highly recommended.

Delicious and unusual menu around bao buns. Tried most; belly pork was especially tasty. Beer pretty good too! Friendly staff and good bar atmosphere. And easily accessible by train...we'll be back!

We are 4 couples that went here for lunch, last time we went here it was fish & chips pie & chips etc. This time the food was entirely different and what a difference it was. Every one of our party had different items off the menu and the food was amazing. We would definitely go again and would highly recommend it.

Very nice pub. Looks great after the refurbishment, and now serving Salt beer. Tried the food this time, and was blown away. Bao23 really pulling out all the stops.

Had read this place benefitted from some investment early in the year and the clean welcoming vibe represents this. Counted 8 cask ales and 4 or 5 Salt kegs, plus some other lines so very decent choice. Didn't try the Bao Buns also on site but would return for some beers for sure 🍻

Great pub! Good selection of nice beers on tap. Food from BaoBros23 upstairs was insanely good and you can sit outside next to the river when the weather's nice. Fantastic!

Not my ideal type of food (don't do spicy!!) but the kitchen put the sauce on the side. Wings and chips. Ok. Rest of my group enjoyed their dishes. A bit noisy as floors all wooden. Not excessively priced and service was decent.

Fantastic place to get some local beer after an afternoon walk with my partner in crime, Tom. Got a couple of local beers, both pretty tasty and well priced. Sat in what I can only describe as a beer garden by the canal. Gorgeous, busy place with a fantastic atmosphere.

Great place to drink (and eat) in Marsden, Huddersfield. I visited on a Sunday after a walk (over the other side) in Saddleworth. Great selection of beers on cask and keg. Ossett brewery and their own Riverhead beers on cask and Salt brewery craft beers on keg. Great pub in heart of Marsden village. It was busy but not too busy. Staff were all young but friendly. Had my dog and there were a number of pooches spread across the bar area. Upstairs is a place where you can get food. Bao buns and all their loveliness. However, I wasn't eating here, just having a quick refresher after a long walk! I am not sure if the restaurant was open or not on Sunday anyway. Will be back!

Called in on a wet Sunday lunchtime. The Riverhead brews that we tried were excellent. We also tried the food on offer and ordered bao buns and Korean spare ribs - not knowing what to expect. It was all first class and I recommend that you give the food a try!

We enjoy the place but consider the outside area needs attention and investment. . The sculpture power washed. Weeds kept under control the view of river shouldn’t be obscured by marketing banners. And overall respect to users experience even if the brewery do not own that area. It would enhance the customer experience.

Great pub lovely location ,wide variety of drinks , baobros23 food always excellent , friendly staff great service.

Very nice at the pub with so many options of beer to choose from. The menu was a bit wacky but we soon got into it with options like classic boa buns and boa dogs and chicken wings and pork ribs and loaded fries and plenty of dips. Thr food was incredible.

Beer excellent, decor fab since the refit. Staff was half asleep and the pork pie was flaccid. Food upstairs excellent. 4 stars.

Children running about the pub and laying on the floor so you have to step over them spoils a nice quiet afternoon. It would be nice if parents monitored their behaviour more, not everyone wants a kiddies running round sometimes it's more like a crèche.

Had a very enjoyable night out with family and friends (most who hadn’t eaten here previously & totally loved it ! Street food at its best - still ! Very fresh, well presented with amazing flavours & this is all accompanied with a selection of the highest quality craft ales , even better that it’s my local & staffed by a friendly & helpful bunch of folks ! 😃 🍻

Quite simply the best food of any restaurant I've been to this year, and probably last. Everything on the table was delicious and I tasted everyone's. It's so good, that the next time I drive to the lakes, I will make the 30 min diversion just to go there again.

Ribs are a joke. Christ. 3 days trudging through the peaks, the meal here was like mannah from heaven. I'm not a religious man, but finishing that bao bun and those loaded fries off made me feel like I'd reached nirvana. Hats off to the chef. Peace.

Fabulous old school historic place serving a wide range of beers,ales etc. The Bao bun Japanese inspired food is a welcome change from standard pub grub. Great staff and a lovely beer garden overlooking the water when the weather allows.

Great food, friendly staff, live music and comedy upstairs. Good atmosphere, cannot stress how good the food was.

Good selection of beers both local and national but what a strange menu! It took a while to understand what was being offered and seemed to be a strange concoction of Vietnamese dishes served on bamboo trays. We noticed many were drinking but not eating. In the end we took a chance and enjoyed the food though we had little idea of what would arrive!

Pleased to see that it retained its character after the extension & refurb, great service from young, polite & friendly staff. Just one very minor niggle, I think that the neon signs are naff & out of character with the establishment. It was one of my regular ports of call & it will remain so.

Lovely pub next to river.. Plenty of different beers brewed on site I believe and food very tasty and bit different to main stream pub food. Well worth a visit.

The food is beautiful and tasty. I took my kids along as it was my eldest child’s 18th birthday and they all wanted (for a while) try a bao bun and fancy chips. They were not disappointed! Even after ordering a couple of kids plain baos incase they didn’t like the other ones, my picky child has said he would love to go again and get an adult bao and will eat it with the stuff they put on. I got some plain chips as well as other ones with stuff on and I tell you what, I didn’t think they would try it but my god they did snd they loved them! Thank you for making their day and mine, they couldn’t stop talking about them and how yummy they were xx

First-time visit since the refurbishment. I have got to say it is a great improvement, especially the toilets which were to say the least were disgusting. The beer is still the same excellent quality with the new addition of craft beers and cocktails on draught. Well worth a visit.

Awesome place! The beers in this cracking place were beautiful and fresh as you'd expect as they are brewed onsite! All of the staff were brilliant! The whole building is fitted out to a great standard and the toilets, modern and clean! The only criticism is that it was too warm in their, the heating bills must be huge! 🥴 Anyway, if you are visiting the gorgeous village of Marsden, then make sure you pop into this fantastic working brewery! 😃 Till the next time, All the best, Nigel & Claire

Good range of beers at reasonable prices. Some good looking food but I didn't try any.

Just had beer. Recently taken over by Ossett Brewery, so all my favourites including White Rat and Cherry Rateaux are available alongside the locally brewed traditional ale.

One of the best pints I have had in a long time. Really good traditional pub with a modern feel. Menu is provided by the street food restaurant next door which Asian street food. Only complaint was it was lacking in veggie options

Great site , food and beer brilliant. Bao buns spectacular. This is so much more than just a pub , split levels , divert area to sit . Even has beer tanks coming through the floor .

Great pub. Friendly atmosphere. More dogs than you can shake a stick at. And free red light therapy. Land lady Jane is absolutely fantastic Full of all the usual things you find in an Osset brewery establishment, fantastic beers, and the most recent addition of Cocktails on Tap. Love it.

Nice pub and refurb, however too many children allowed to run wild, spoiling the days of a quiet pint!

Recent extensive refurbishment is impressive: despite the neon signs and clean toilets the happy ambience of a busy village boozer has remained the same. Wide range of drinks, Osset, Salt, Riverhead and guest ales, cocktails on tap, coffee! Bar snacks (pies and scotch eggs) and tasty Bao Buns, loaded fries etc from the upstairs kitchen. Landlady Jayne is passionate about the place and leads a friendly, efficient team. Popular with both locals and visitors. Perfect for Marsden Moor walkers/cyclists and real ale trailers. Quiz and live music nights. Lots of chat. Lots of dogs. Lovely outside seating area beside the river for that day in August when it stops raining.

Lively atmosphere, good food and comfortable. Even nicer after the refurbishment and nicely decorated toilets and men’s and women’s which we much prefer.

Very pleasant refurbished space. Nice and warm at 12:15 on a damp cold Thursday lunch, which is something few pubs manage. Large selection of Ossett, Riverhead and Salt beer. Lunch from the BaoBros23 kitchen was OK. Wings were nice. Fries were oddly dry and some ketchup didn't seem to be an option unless you ordered one of the exotic options upfront. Collect your lunch when the beeper goes off but carrying your own lunch downstairs on a slippery lipless tray is an accident waiting to happen.

A fantastic pub, lovely building, great staff, large selection of drinks and reasonably priced! Certainly worth a visit with friends or family. The food (upstairs) is also lovely. Gets rammed in the summer if the trains are running but plenty of room outside

Great dog friendly pub, very friendly staff, good choice of ales and fantastic coffees. Really good food available. Lovely setting by the river with outside seating available. Recently refurbished so more seating downstairs available.

Really liked this place! So did my pup. When we went in; we expected a boozer with pub style food. It was Bao Buns and chicken wings - at first, we were tempted to look elsewhere, but gave it a go. In all honesty, really glad we did! The food was really nice; the staff were friendly and there was a really nice atmosphere! Will definitely be visiting again soon. There was a good amount of food - we ordered the above for 3 people; although I ate most of it... Because I'm greedy... But it was all lovely and freshly prepared. To say it isn't my usual cuisine, it massively impressed me!
