Needs to decide what kind of place it wants to be. Bar? Club? Board game cafe? Restaurant? Needs a consistent vibe.

Given it one star 🌟 puerile because it was open don't know what has or what is happening to this place but it will be a long time before we go back

This was a quiet bar on a Friday night although they are probably busier at other times no doubt. Not bad and somewhere different to try out for a drink in Huddersfield.

Popped in for a couple of drinks, good selection, pleasant surroundings , friendly/welcoming staff, great atmosphere.

A great bar, definitely worth a visit

One the best value for money bar I have been to. We where able to get 2 burgers and 2 drinks for about £15 due the excellent offers this place provides. A really cosy environment and friendly staff to accompany it. Overall, if your looking for a cosy place for a drink or a meal on the cheaper side, I'd highly recommend this place

The food we ordered was of a good quality, i wouldn’t say it was the best dish i have ate before however it was still satisfying enough for me to want to return again within the future. The cheeseburger was good and juicy and the fries we’re perfectly crispy. I just wish that the burger had more flavour but that’s just due to a personal preference. The cocktails there are good quality and are all nice. I would recommend this place for casual drinks or for a quick and casual meal. The staff are all accommodating and ensure to check on you throughout your experience. I would recommend it overall to anyone who is interested.

One of my favourite bars ever!! Staff are always lovely and helpful, free pool on a Thursday is absolutely wonderful and the cocktails... WOW they are good and 2 for just under a tenner(me and friends had the solero, the bubblegum cocktail and the wherther-tini all great). I would throughly recommend trying the hot dogs they serve here (I had the chilli dog... INCREDIBLE), and the flavoured vodka shots sooo good. They have changing colour lights, comfy sofas, strong drinks, delicious food and awesome tunes. I really REALLY recommend you try this bar out!!!

This bar is amazing. The cocktails are amazing value for money and tasty too! Also the staff are so welcoming and friendly. Honestly the best place i’ve been to since moving to huddersfield. I am amazed to see the place isn’t packed all the time. Give it a go!!

At moment 2 decent real ales on (probably more after covid I imagine) + numerous kegs on. Had basic cheeseburger but very nice and tasty. Just the right amount of chips and very reasonably priced - can wholeheartedly recommend this establishment 👍

Great pub! A good selection of beers and ciders on draught and bottles, cocktails on offer aswell as food. A great place to watch sports or play pool.

Staff are friendly and gave me a laugh. Shots and cocktails were very nice. However I personally feel that the drinks are a little pricey. Just my opinion though

I visited here when restrictions allowed us to, I was blown way by the magnificent Interior, friendly and welcoming staff who made mine and my friends visit worth it, the prices are amazing for what you get, me and my friends tried a few of the cocktails and WOW, I’ve never ever had a cocktail like it, reminded me of my childhood but with alcohol included, overall, I would highly recommend to anyone in or outside of Huddersfield. VISIT! You won’t regret it.

Cheap as chips, but not many people there

I think it might recently have changed hands? The bartender (owner?) was really good - offering wine samples to make sure we chose the right wine for us. He said the food was good... we only had time to stay for a drink but we will go back for a meal. It was well lit, cosy and inviting. A very enjoyable experience.

Had a great time. Staff were friendly and helpful. Ate some chips and dips. Notice that dogs are allowed in. All brilliant. Pretty please would they start selling a little bit of cake.

Absolutely fantastic in here. Come almost every Wednesday for our lunch before work, food is perfect every time and nicely priced too. The staff in here are all lovely and friendly too.

Where do I start? The beer was off, the staff were rude and the food was cold and inedible! I had to take my pint back because it was flat and tasted weird. After waiting an eternity for my food to arrive the burger was revolting. It was gristly and the chips were soggy. When I complained they were not interested , they offered a replacement but I couldn’t face waiting another lifetime and didn’t dare risk another beer. So I wandered round the corner to the Warehouse which was infinitely better! I would recommend you do the same if you ever find yourself in this dreadful place.

To be honest i went on a cheeky 2 pub pub crawl and found that warehouse is ultimately better than rhubarb, rhubarb is more for the old brexit means brexit types, where as Warehouse is much more progressive and actually likes the EU. #remain

Rhubarb does not get the recognition it deserves, it’s easily one of the best bars in Huddersfield yet many people and students will opt for Warehouse or Revs. The food at rhubarb is amazing, they’ve sorted out the waiting time so now it’s not as long as it used to be. However, I never had an issue as the food was always fresh, hot and homemade. The alcohol is also at reasonable prices. The staff are wonderful, always pleasant, polite and helpful. It’s in a prime location facing the university and an easy walk to then the clubs. Easily one of my favourite bars, with amazing food, some music for a good atmosphere and a selection of board games/ quiz machines including a fooseball table. There’s honestly no faults and one of the nices places in huddersfield.

Great food, cheap lager. Good games are including pool, fooseball and arcade game. Comfy upstairs and very friendly staff. We come often and it never disappoints. Food is quick and perfect for a break during university timetable as it's over the road!

1) Food is amazing, not expensive and all homemade. Takes a little while to come out, however, I feel more confident in the food that i am eating if the food takes a little longer to make. 2) Staff are very welcoming and always friendly. 3) The price of drinks are reasonable. 4) Music is good and not loud 5) Great social area to play pool, board games and table football 6) Across the road from University 7) 10x better than Warehouse.

I've been here a few times during the day for a work lunch. The servers are friendly and see to you quickly. The food is good, although you have to wait a while, not great for a 'quick' lunch but very tasty. I can recommend the pepperoni pizza, worth the wait.

Great little shack offering really tasty food fresh made, great portions and beautiful cakes as a dessert to eat in or takeaway an array of board games to play live sports and even though the heating wasn't working today the staff did all they could to keep us warm very friendly and helpful would definitely recommend

Booked it for a surprise party. They gave me a certain area of the place that we could have to ourselves. Staff were all fantastic from originally booking it right up to the bar staff running it on the night, they honestly could not have done more for us. Very happy

Popped in for lunch today. Great pint, nice food which arrived in 20 mins, top bants with barman. Looked really clean and tiday and there was a great selection of single malts behind the bar which I resisted as I had to go back to work! My friend had a vegetarian meal which he enjoyed.

Great music venue The Killermeters sounded wonderful. Not enough bar staff at peak times so a long wait to b served beer.

We went to Rhubarb for a works leaving do at lunchtime. We ordered the food and paid for it and were then left waiting for an hour and a half. The food never arrived. The staff kept making excuses and were unapologetic. We had to ask for a refund and leave without eating. How can this place still be in business??? Awful! Ruined what should have been a nice occasion.

Called in here and here we go... I know I have found the best bar as well as playing the best music... The staff are very good with service and they will give you a listen like they did with us and if you want service and good quality food then.. Just talk. I'll be back!!

Great bar quick service friendly staff

I used to enjoy a trip to rhubarb as a uni student it was close and cheap with fab deals. However in the last year I’ve made 3 visit. Upon each visit I’ve waited a minimum of 1 hour for food, listened to at least 3 excuses each time of why the food is taking so long (a new chef, the chef hasn’t turned up etc.) and then been rewarded for my wait with cold, nasty food. One of the visits, I took a group of my friends and told them about how good the food was for cheap prices. We waited for 1 hour and a half, got told there were no pizzas when there were... got our order messed up twice because the bar man was hungover and probably still drunk and then when it did arrive it wasn’t edible. I have to say it was the same bar man serving every time I’ve had this experience... one time he even forgot to put our order through to the kitchen. I’d understand if it was a busy time of day but both these times we have been 1 of a maximum of 3 tables in at the time. Upon today’s disappointing visit, my partner and I had 1 hour for lunch, spent it waiting for food that had to be boxed up because they took so long, and then to put the cherry on the cake we weren’t offered a refund, instead the bar man told us in a unappreciated jokingly way that we could buy him a drink next time we came in. Unless you have 3 hours of your life to waste and want to be taken for a joke I wouldn’t go there for anything EVER AGAIN. (Warehouse round the corner is way better and nicer staff!!)

Came in here for lunch (Thursday) we have been a few times on this day and have encountered issues before but never too much to turn us away completely. Today was a complete different story. The restaurant had around 6-9 people in so fairly quiet. Having seen this we thought our food wouldn’t be that long, the group of 4 which were next to us had been sat waiting for food for a long period of time, and were complaining that it took 35 minutes for one person to be served. They then left without half of them receiving the food they ordered, as they had to leave for other plans. We then waited a total of 50 minutes for a pizza and a wrap. We therefore had to get food boxed up to leave because we had ran out of time to eat. This was then followed up with a bar man with brown hair who has the worst attitude I have seen. His comment to us not being impressed with the service was if we ever come in again we could buy him a drink to cheer him up!?

We got served a few times by a young lady called Jody, she was polite and we had a good laugh with her. The Lemon challenge was the funniest thing ever, Jody totally missed the bin but I hit it from the other side of the bar.. John Sykes

Service can be slow, but the staff and food is usually great quality for a reasonable price.

Had lunch at Rhubarbs for the first time today. First big surprise - 50% off all food items as its Thursday .. Second surprise - Jazz makes superb cocktails! I went with my sister (we are both mature ladies) and we found that as it was lunchtime not too many students in so we felt comfortable. The host - Jazz was very attentive and suggested which cocktails we may like and his good nature contributed to our relaxing lunchtime. We were recommended Rhubarb and I will pass the recommendation onto you

Pay top price expect a nice beer but the beer is rubbish there just so flat Wetherspoons from now on...

We had bobbed in to look at the menu ..staff were very friendly, we are both gluten free and sometimes struggle to find places to eat, I often find myself feeling apologetic for being an awkward eater even tho it is a medical condition but we were made to feel more than welcome, Phil went above and beyond, checked out what we wanted to eat and we both felt confident in the choices we made. The food arrived and it was 100% spot on absolutely no complaints and great value for money. We would 100% recommend and will be returning again.

This was a decent bar with a good range and selection of drinks we visited before going to a football match at the John Smiths Stadium. If you are not a football fan avoid on match days otherwise it is a decent bar

Halloween Charity night, good food great band and wonderful atmosphere

I very rarely complain about service but this requires a word of warning for all customers in the future. I would avoid at all cost! I arrived on a very quiet Friday lunch time with 5 other people, as it was our lunchtime treat away from uni. We ordered our food and was told there wasn't any feta or any other kind of cheese. One of my friends is allergic to dairy and asked if there was already diary in the mash. Which was answered yes and she ordered vegetarian sausages and new potatoes. We wait around 25 minutes for our food to arrive which was staggered. She then realised there must be dairy in the sausages which she wasn't told about when ordering so asked if there was actually diary in the sausage. May I add I have been a waitress/bar staff for many years so I know the way in which you handle a polite complaint, something which the girl who served us clearly hadn't been taught. She was very rude and distant and didn't apologise, in fact made us feel like we were being awkward which wasn't the case. Back to my meal. Me and my friend ordered a AB pizza, chips and onion rings to share. The pizza arrived with minimal toppings and I realised they had missed off jalapeño peppers and sweet corn, which we wasn't told about before hand/when they realised they hadn't got the ingredients to check it was okay. I brought this to the waitresses attention, explaining I understand it isn't her fault but I want to know where all the other toppings are. She then went to ask the kitchen and just told us they weren't on the pizza because they had ran out. She didn't offer anything, so I said I wouldn't have ordered the pizza which was more expensive may I add if I had known or at least make up the rest of the toppings with extra of the others. She made me feel like crap as if I'd asked for the world. But when I order something I expect to receive that or at least be told before hand. It is only polite and good service. It was a truly horrible experiences as I don't like to complain. I know it isn't the waitresses fault for the kitchens fault but usually they will go out of their way to fix it which wasn't the case. The male manager did not once come over to apologise or ask if we were okay. We then had to wait 20 minutes for another pizza to be made which meant everyone else had finished their meals and our sides were cold. I asked if we could have to excess of the money difference back which was 90p (money doesn't matter to me but principles and manners do) this was badly received by the waitress and had to check with her boss. As we were waiting I asked if we could have some fresh chips for when our pizza comes out, again a terrible response. Honestly so upset and disappointed as I love food and eating out. Wish I had never gone. Fair enough mistakes happen, but the way in which they are handled is very important. So stay clear! We had paid before hand also. Awful awful awful never again.

Cuando me trasladé a Huddersfield quería encontrar un lugar para ir de unos tragos y cuando vi que tenía un ruibarbo £2 OFERTA EN QUE decidimos comprobarlo, fui la noche del miércoles y me encantó el ambiente. El personal era muy amable y acogedor, y sin duda volvería incluso sin la oferta.

Been here quite a few times now, mainly day times and evenings although once in a Wednesday night (student night). The food is really fab and great value. Their cocktails are awesome, and the staff are all really friendly.

No soy un fanático, pero este lugar necesita una buena limpia, el suelo era alarmantemente pegajosas y los baños estaban asquerosamente sucio. El mobiliario estaba desgarrada y cayendo a pedazos. El personal parecía desatendido, pedí una para aclarar que se ha convertido en nuestra mesa llena de vasos vacíos y me dijeron que un 'por favor y gracias estaría bien". Encantador.
