Amazing roast! Would highly recommend!

Such a lovely scenic restaurant in Shrewsbury! Lovely staff and great food - so reasonably priced. I recommend the Chicken and Dauphinoise - Delicious!

In my view... The Riverbank is possibly the best food venue in Shrewsbury at the moment, taking into account pricing, food quality, choice, and service. Happy to recommend to all.

We visited with my father on the evening of 7th May. The food was the best we've had anywhere in a very long time. Our server, Jess, and her colleagues were all very friendly and helpful. Fantastic. Well definitely be back!!

Lovely lunch time visit. Excellent menu. Good choices for vegan and vegetarian. The only criticism is my meal was slightly over salted.

Fabulous gem! We arrived as a group of 3 without a reservation & we were made so welcome. We were shown to a lovely table & every member of staff that came to us did so with a smile & friendly attitude. Food was delicious and we’re already planning our next visit! A must if you’re in Shrewsbury looking for a great food, lovely service in a fab location.

Absolutely lovely lunch today both food and service. Mains of Chicken Saltimbocca, Slow Roast Pork Belly and Wild Mushroom Risotto mains with a nice bottle of red wine for the three of us.

We visited Shrewsbury for the weekend and this was by far our favourite place. Straight as we walked in we loved the atmosphere. We got placed on a table and the server who we deemed as the manager said we could have a table by the window which made our experience. My family of 4 all had different things and all 4 of us enjoyed our different meals. They were all so flavourful and great. The staff also couldn’t do enough for us. If we come back to Shrewsbury this will be the first restaurant we come back to.

Wasn’t made to feel welcome expect by two employees Left waiting over 25 mins after placing food order with no update on the wait just to be told “Sorry we had a couple of big table orders” We were a table of two! And a very simple order Asked for a refund and left Poor service and attitude

My friend and I met up for lunch here. I'd booked it some weeks ago as it looked lovely on their website. The food was delicious, and the service was second to none. We had a table overlooking the river, which was beautiful. We didn't feel rushed in any way, so all in all, it was a totally relaxing, enjoyable visit. Highly recommended.

I ordered the chicken and pancetta ciabatta, expecting a gorgeous CIABATTA with lots of air holes and crusty crust, being in a Mediterranean restaurant I was expecting the Ciabatta to be top notch. What I got is how I would describe the equivalent of getting a sandwich made with the cheapest of white plastic bag bread. There were no air holes and very soft crust to the ciabatta, which was tasteless.. it was a complete DISAPPOINTMENT. They served the cheapest of bulk brought in ciabatta, you get tastier from supermarkets. So my expectation of my lovely Mediterranean lunch, left me feeling I would have done better making my own. The filling was like a sandwich filler pot from the supermarket, so much mayo, there was not much taste of chicken or pancetta. The service was ok, the setting is nice, but food was disappointing.

I’ve just had the most delicious Sunday roast. I’m vegetarian so opted for their nutless roast - full of wonderful seeds and other yummy deliciousness. I ate late for a Sunday (7.30pm) but the joint was jumping and no wonder the food is well cooked, plentiful and fresh - even that late I enjoyed fresh Yorkshire puddings, vegetables and roast potatoes that tasted fresh out of the oven. I’m only here for a few days but hope to get back here to eat again. The food is wonderful if my nut less roast with all the trimmings was anything to go by. I washed it all down with a large glass of their Transylvanian Pinot Noir - perfect! Service was impeccable, friendly and efficient. Highly recommend

Lunch on a Wednesday. Excellent service, food and drink. Not busy, which was great for us but it should be because it's great. A very good menu and well priced!!

Called in for Sunday lunch. Although very busy, and without prior booking a table was cleared and ready in around 20 minutes. The food was very nice, but could have done with being warmer. The vegetables in particular, served in a separate dish for us to share, were bordering on cold

We had a fantastic evening at the Riverbank as a group of 10 & everything exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious & generously portioned & the service was truly outstanding - quick, friendly, & attentive throughout. A huge thank you to Matt & Adrian, our main waiters for the evening, whose exceptional & friendly service made the experience even more enjoyable. Well done, you absolutely earned the service charge & the extra tip! The whole table thoroughly enjoyed their meals. I had the sea bass, which was incredibly fresh & flavourful, served on a bed of perfectly cooked vegetables. The two well sized fillets were a great touch. The Guinness & Espresso Martini were excellent as well! Well done, I would certainly eat here again!

Came for a valentine's meal with my partner. When I booked a table I was not informed it was a set menu only on the night. I even emailed about the evening and was still not informed until we sat down. Food was ok but not what we anticipated. Staff were very attentive and the atmosphere was lovely. Just a shame we weren't informed about the menu situation

Delicious food with attentive & friendly service

Managed to fit 14 of us in at very short notice for a family birthday meal which was enjoyed by all. Sunday lunch menu had a good choice and all enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Staff extremely friendly and efficient dealt with everything quickly even though it was extremely busy we didn’t wait long for our meals or drinks . Will definitely recommend and will be returning again soon !

I cannot fault this restaurant. The staff are so friendly and the owner goes out of his way to make us feel welcome. The food is fabulous and tasty. I have eaten here a lot and have never had a bad meal. Everything is always perfect.

Fantastic food and excellent service!! Very impressive given that it was a very busy night. Initially we were skeptical due to a queue at the door and a wait to be seated but this must just be due to high demand and it was well worth the wait. In spite of the challenges it was all well-managed, wait times for food were fine and there was no shortage of quality. I would absolutely recommend this place to people visiting Shrewsbury looking for a varied menu. The tiramisu was especially good.

So, so, disappointed, after making a booking well in advance for this evening for 8pm for a special occasion upon arrival were met by a queue of people waiting to be steated for bookings at 7.15pm and 7.30pm. We were told it would be at least half an hour until we could be seated. What is the point of making a booking?! We needed to find somewhere else to eat and decided to try the Armoury next door which, although extremely busy, managed to find us a table straight away. Very disappointed with River Bank approach to managing bookings. Don't rely on getting a table even though you have booked.

Pre-theatre dinner for 4 of us. All of our meals were tasty and plentiful. Service was a particular highlight. Quick and very friendly. When we ordered dessert we said we had to leave in 25 minutes for the theatre and the staff ensured that we did. A lovely experience all round.

Decided to walk out after 5 minutes. It was so cold in there, we just couldn’t have stayed. Excuse was refurbishment ongoing.

Went here yesterday evening for dinner. We really enjoyed the food and the portions were excellent, we couldn’t finish everything on our plate. The staff were friendly and helpful. Prices seem average for Shrewsbury. The only downside is it was cold in there. My husband put a coat on he was so cold. This is obviously an ongoing thing as there was a space heater by the table behind us. The warmest area ironically was by the front door which is really warm.

A cold day on 1st Feb was met by a warm welcome and cosy atmosphere. The menu was varied and the three of us had different starters and mains which were delicious. The best creme brulee followed to top off a great visit. The staff were fab. Thank you!!

We had a lovely meal celebrating a 'big' birthday with family. Food was delicious, service was great and they were more than happy to let me bring our own birthday cupcakes, which they served to the table, adding a candle & singing Happy Birthday! Thank you for a lovely evening

Good location , food was ok , but I feel the price is a little high for what it was , service was ok , I think we would need to return to try a couple of other things on the menu , I think the portion size was a little small for me and what I had I was expecting a little more steak for the money , the peppercorn source was nice , the fries well they were just average , other meals we orders were ok fish and actually surprisingly the cheapest of the meals seemed best value which was the gammon egg and chips , like I say I think if we visit again this will be when I think we would see if it would become a regular place for us to go to for now I couldn’t really give more then a 3 out of 5 especially for the price paid we were left a little hungry after we had left and that isn’t a great feeling when you spend so much on a meal

We came here as a group of 12 friends for dinner over Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed it here! The service was good, staff were friendly and food was great! I had a gnocchi dish and others in our group had chicken, steak, burgers etc. as we were a large group, we did have to pre order which sometimes I find annoying but there was no hassle. The drinks were good and this was a reasonably priced restaurant! We will be back again.

Spent New Year's Eve here and wasn't disappointed, despite the atrocious weather. Food was good, service excellent, ambience, vibrant. We had a table that overlooked the Severn, which I'm sure on a Summer's day would be lovely. Recommended

I booked the cocktail making masterclass for my son’s 18th birthday (group of 5). I received a phone call at midday on his birthday saying they would need to cancel the class due to being understaffed. After expressing my strong disappointment we were offered an earlier slot. When we arrived we were informed that the class was cancelled due to staff sickness and that the manager over ruled the woman I spoke with, stating that she was soft. He apologised and offered to show my son how to make a cocktail one to one, at some point during dinner. We left and also cancelled our dinner reservation. We went to a restaurant nearby instead. Within minutes of my son ordering at the bar, the bar tender acknowledged his birthday and showed him how to make a cocktail for free. Avoid this restaurant during the Christmas period if you want more than just dinner. Even though the manager offered the one to one, he didn’t really care. I mean seriously, you only have your 18th birthday once and it’s a big deal, right?!

We were served and taken care of by a wonderful woman with curly dark hair and dark framed glasses. She was fabulous and we would definitely come again!

We were looking for somewhere to eat and came across this first. Glad we didn't go any further. The 4 of us had a great 3 course meal. Lovely staff excellent food lovely venue. Will certainly come back.

We booked a Xmas party for 83 people, we all arrived on time to be told 1 table was not ready as someone was still eating!!!!. Over 45 minutes later starters were served, which were OK. Eventually most of the mains came out apart from the belly pork dish which came out 30 minutes after everyone else had finished their main which by the time it came I was no longer hungry as I'd waited so long. The desserts came out 3 hours after we arrived and again 1 dessert came out after everyone had finished eating. The serving staff were in over there head and whoever organised the booking over estimated their staff as the service was poor throughout. I have since had an email to say they are doing a goodwill gesture of a refunded discount, so glad comments were taken seriously

An excellent evening with some tasty substantial plates of well presented food. Despite it being full we had very good service from the staff who were clearly working hard but together to check in on their diners. Very reasonable prices for the size of plates presented.

My wife and I booked a Friday night table for two having eaten there a few weeks previous. We were given a nice table looking out across the river we really enjoyed. The staff were most welcome and very tentative we ordered drinks and decided what to eat, a good choice of Mediterranean meals were on offer. I chose the steak tagliatelle and my wife had chicken and mushroom pasta. The meals came out quite quickly even though it was getting busy and were absolutely wonderful. We only managed a main course which we washed down with a bottle of red wine. All in all the meal was very well priced and the staff are first class. In the main we were looked after by a young lady called Maisie who was really nice. We will go back again an again and strongly recommend this menus.

We had booked a table of 4. We arrived at 7-20pm for 7-30pm table.We were asked for our name & staff looked a little blank at us. I showed email confirmation. Advised had to wait as others had arrived late. We were shown upstairs and ordered a drink. 8pm we went to table. We were given a table it seemed for 2 made up for 4 right by the serving hatch. It was very noisy in room & we were squashed. Food ordered then we felt quite a breeze. Doors opened as large party hot. After a few minutes we asked if could close doors as 2 of us in clear draught. Party not wanting to shut doors & we saw a table empty of four & asked to move. We did. Food arrived & Superb Chicken, Dauphinois potato & Crispy Leeks for me. Super Steak too for my friend The Two Burgers however very dry and Chips under done. We did have one Burger taken off bill. Music started from upstairs very loud and we thought ooh entertainment..When 2 of party went up to dance advised private party & couldnt join in. A shame really . We felt our evening marred by hosting large group re private party & our booking possibly forgotten & then plonked on a tiny table for 2/_3 max not 4. Food hit & miss.

The quality of food at the Riverbank is always of the highest standard, the staffs are always polite and welcoming. The menu is varied to accommodate all if not most pallets and a good choice of cocktails.

Just got back from the Riverbank with my wife. It was a lovely restaurant, my wife had chicken wrapped in prosciutto with dolphin potatoes. Served in mushroom sauce. I had Stifado. It was all very nice

i came here for a date with a boy i was seeing and it was an amazing time! i had the steak and it was cooked to perfection and the chips were amazing! the servers were polite and welcoming. the only issue we had was having to move table half way through eating due to a larger table arriving but as i have worked in these kind of settings before i completely understand! i would reccomend!

Great food, good prices and atmosphere. What I liked least was that they asked us every 10 minutes if everything was going well.

The acoustics are terrible in this restaurant, at least where we were seated in the main dining room. It felt like we were in a loud cafeteria. The restaurant is set up for large parties so maybe that was the issue with that. Our drinks took almost 20 minutes to come out even though it was just a glass of white wine and a martini. They didn't have olives for the martini so improvised something from the kitchen with Greek olives. Not very good The grilled chicken salad had large chunks of bread, something like croutons. What there was of the chicken was dry and there was very little salad to go with it. The giant prawns linguine! well, the prawns were just smaller cocktail size. The garlic bread was a roll cut in half, covered with garlic, salt and some butter and toasted and served with wilted arugula on the side. The staff was pleasant. Overall a very disappointing experience and we got out of there as quickly as possible.

This was a pre theatre meal. We had an exceptionably good experience. The staff members we engaged with were friendly and courteous and food was delicious. We had rump steaks and they were superb. We are frequent Shrewsbury visitors and never been here before but will return and recommend it to others.

A party of 5 of us enjoyed an excellent meal here last night I had the chicken wrapped in Parma ham dish,with Dauphinois potatoes, it was truly amazing The staff were attentive and very pleasant , and above all efficient Well done, will definitely return

Had to sit outside because of our reactive dog! Indoors looked nice 🙂. Just ordered a light snack for lunch. Bruschetta was full of flavour and hummus nice but not amazing. Good local cider.

There are many good restaurants in Shrewsbury - we’re lucky - but this is our favourite. Good food, genuinely friendly staff and nice setting. Well worth a visit if you’re by the river. (Oh and important for us there are steps at the front, but also have wheelchair access at rear)

We visited whilst visiting the Shrewsbury Flower Show and pre-booked our table. We had a warm welcome on arrival and the service was fantastic throughout our visit. We were a little concerned that our table was right next to the bar area and there was a noisy crowd drinking next to us. Thankfully they quietened down so we could have a conversation at the table. The food was amazing and everyone on our table couldn't fault their meals. The total bill was a pleasant surprise as well. I would happily go back when we're next in Shrewsbury.

Awesome find in Shrewsbury. We were so well looked after (a large table wearing cowboy hats on a Sunday) 🤠 It was really busy, but the staff & service were excellent & food fabulous. Definitely recommend.

We had drinks and a meal here for our 25th wedding anniversary celebration, and it was fantastic. The food was delicious, the service very friendly and professional, and the setting was beautiful - we sat outside!

We weren't too hungry so we just got the garlic bread and halloumi fries and some drinks but they were both delicious and our waitress was lovely and helpful, great little spot with a super cozy and pleasant atmosphere too!!

Not bad at all. Everyone enjoyed their meal. My beef tagliata was rare as requested, but not tagliata! It should have arrived sliced. Good flavour, a little stringy in places. But not terrible. Another place with service charge added to the bill. Despicable! Pay your staff a decent wage and let the customer decide if they want to tip, not be embarrassed into it! Would I have tipped? No, service was okay, I didn't feel loved!

Had a lovely meal, steak, and burger cooked perfectly and a smashing tiramisu to finish it off. Definitely recommend.

Second time here for Sunday lunch and again it didn't disappoint. Fresh and generous portions, nice atmosphere and super friendly and efficient staff.

Chose the Riverbank after reading the reviews and we weren’t disappointed. Service was excellent, food delicious and good value for money. An added bonus was live music upstairs which founded our evening off perfectly.

After a walk in park, ended up here for a drink. Beautiful location in front of river Seven. Love outdoor seating so we sit here to enjoy the view and drink. Very calm and nice atmosphere. Didn't step in the but hope inside will be the same lovely. Btw good service.

We had lunch last Saturday and left disappointed. The “chargrilled” chicken salad, ordered by three of us, was not freshly chargrilled at all but chopped up chicken that had been wrapped in ham or prosciutto. The salad had only a few wilted and unwashed greens on the bottom, and I chomped on bits of grit. Awful. The meatball starter was very tough. One of our party enjoyed their fish and chips, but I don’t think we’ll hurry back.

We held a baby shower at the Riverbank on Sunday 23rd June. We had the whole upstairs area for 2 hours, with a little extra time at the start to get drinks. We were able to decorate the room in advance. I can not rate this experience highly enough, from the moment I booked the venue were very accommodating and easy to communicate with. The staff on the day were a delight to work with. We opted for the cold buffet and the guest all enjoyed there food, they also catered for vegan and gluten free. The price can for this can not be matched anywhere else in town.

This is one of my favourite places to eat steak in Shrewsbury. Always well seasoned and cooked exactly how I expect. If you eat steak a lot, it can sometimes be a bit of a lottery. At the moment, the chefs they have suit my taste!
