Julie is a great landlady, very welcoming. We visited her pub for a special birthday celebration where the atmosphere and Saturday night entertainment was really good. Thanks for a fun evening. Fine selection of beers and spirits.

Went here for an 18th birthday party, the pub is very cosy with a friendly atmosphere and a good variety of drinks. Good entertainment and everyone joined in.

Beautiful pub with a friendly atmosphere

It’s a small pub but with lots of atmosphere ,we watched the horse racing and go every year to watch it with a group of over 10 friends ,we are always welcomed with friendly bar staff even though we are a bit loud at times but never no trouble ,so if your after small and friendly this is the pub for you .

Lovely little pub with a great atmosphere and always greeted with a warm, friendly welcome. Also situated in a great little spot, backing on to the canal so perfect all year round, especially when big horse racing meetings are on. Definitely recommend a visit when visiting Stourport on Severn.

the rising sun in stourport is a lovely warm welcoming place with a great atmosphere we been in there a couple of times and had a great time especially over the jubilee weekend and the staff are nice and friendly they couldn't of help any more 100% we will be turning there again next time we are around worth a visit next time in stourport on severn

Very friendly small pub, with lots of regulars/locals. Called in during a hike, and chose to enjoy the sun by sitting in the yard/garden which overlooks the canal. Shared an excellent (large) pork pie with my wife, as well as a pint for me, and cider for her. Well worth a visit. Highly recommended.

Great little friendly local pub , been here many times. Usually have cobs on offer but settled on a pint of guinness and scratchings instead. Would recommend a visit.

Called with a couple of friends that live local for a drink. Found them to be dog friendly and very happy to oblige when asked any questions as it was,carnival day they were very busy Will definately visit again when visiting

We went in here today Friday 30th Oct. Went in for just one drink as been in few times before and is always a lovely drink, plesent staff and surroundings. Well, our one drink ended up a few! Penny who was serving today was a real gem! Hope the manager knows just how hard she works? So plesent and very friendly. We felt as if we could not leave as would be an insult! I used to run a very large and busy pub in Birmingham city centre late 70,s early 80,s and I do know a good pint when i taste one! I had the mild and how perfect was it? I have not had a pint of mild like this in over 30 years! What a fantastic and well run pub this is. Well done to the managers and staff. So nice to see such a friendly well run pub these days. Lets hope Marston realise what a cracking run pub this is too?

Called for drinks only and enjoyed what we had. The lady behind the bar was very friendly and helpful. Covid arrangements were good and the locals friendly too.

I enter the rising sun at 1/30 was greeted by an elderley man I placed my food order an was told no food I think because I was unlike the rest ov the people in pub I'd had a wash full ov in bread stourport tramps hence I won't recommend the pub to anyone

Went to have sunday dinner bear in mind open at twelve we went at 2 to be told got no pork beef chicken lamb or beef didnt think he wanted our sevice because we were not regulars what a joke how can any run out of all meats will never recommend it disgusted

Had lovely Sunday lunch really cheap but the barman let it down so ignorant my husband was first at bar but he served 3 regulars so we walked out end of cheap Sunday lunch change your bar staff so rude !!

Been coming here for a few years for Monday Night Bingo. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Has been renovated fairly recently and looks great. Also has a peaceful garden out the back by the canal.

Arrived late yet they still provided an excellant meal for 8 adults and 3 children. The atmosphere was wonderful and the locals very friendly. Beer selection was good.

After thinking there were only three of us, ten walked in for dinner just before the kitchen closed. Ten meals were served, including 3 kids meals served first, all really hot and extremely tasty. This is a hidden gem and if you walk past the door you are a going to regret it. Great beer, great food, great staff, great atmosphere...

To be straight, what you see is what you get. We wanted a nice english ale in an english pub and its exactly what we got. Friendly staff and locals looked like they were really enjoying themselves. I tried a Banks Mild and Bitter, first english hand pulled beers and they were pretty good! Will be back before i leave Stourport.

Love the pub, location ,staff, but ....... Smoke from the smoking area blows back in the pub from the always open door .

We tied up our barge right opposite the pub,across the little bridge and your there.There we five of us and evening meals are served after 18.30pm.We had a great welcome from all the staff good easy menu and plenty of food served the locals we very friendly as well.Food was served quickly and its was of great quality.Will certainly go again when we are back on the canal.

How do they do good quality pub grub at such low prices?

Only place we could find for Sunday Roast Dinner. Place was a Traditional Public House. Sunday Roast was ok. good value for the money and the lady who brought the food to us was nice and friendly. Was a nice relaxing pub.

We really struggled to find a pub in Stourport town centre that did a Sunday roast. The Rising Sun did! The ordering process was more difficult than it needed to be. It took a while ginger the food and drinks order through. The pub doesn't take cards and you have to pay for food & drinks separately!!! Very outdated process TBH.That said, the lady doing the food was really pleasant. The food was hot and okay. I've had much better Sunday roasts but it was certainly adequate and good value for money. The service in the food area was good and the lady was very attentive.

The brewery have put their hands in the coffers and provided tasteful decoration due, in no little part, to input from the new manager. Indeed, the Mayor of Stourport actually performed the official re-opening ceremony. All locals were saddened to see Rob Hallard retire as landlord but equally happy to note that he continues as barstaff and that the new manager (Julie), whilst making a few positive changes, has still maintained a very quaint, friendly and welcoming pub. The internal décor is good on the eye and the canalside patio has been given a positive makeover with a modern extending canopy with tables and seating for al fresco fans. The smoking area out back is far more attractive than some smoking pickets outside of front entrances in other establishments.Food is provided at most times day and night and is always well prepared and presented, as is the selection of guest ales added to the usual favourites with Saturday afternoon lunches and Sunday roasts particularly popular. Group breakfasts, buffets etc can be provided given advance notice and evening entertainment can also be provided if required. DJs, solo and duet performers can comfortably set up in the hearth area and be heard and viewed quite easily throughout the pub.On the regular social side Bingo is held on Monday nights with Dominos and crib to local league levels also once weekly features. Customers are welcome to play crib or dominos with table tops provided at any time outside of regular league functions. Satellite TVs around the pub cater for horseracing, Sky football, Rugby union and cricket with different channels available at the same time. It is still a popular venue for caravan holidaymakers at bank holiday and summer break times. It is also both child and pet friendly.One issue that some would see as a downside is that the pub is cash only but that is offset by the co-op cash point very close by. Customers, new and existing, are always afforded a warm welcome by all the staff therein,(Julie, Rob, Sandie, Tina, Rob, Sue and Ursula), and I have absolutely no problem giving THE RISING SUN PH top marks and would assure other visitors they will not be disappointed.
