I was in the area and in need of somewhere to park up for the night, I’ve used coopers cabin once before but never tried Risby TruckStop and thought I’d give it a go. They accept SNAP so booking in was easy, I was greeted by a guy on the way in who took my name and registration then he told me where to park based on what time I was leaving in the morning. Having never been here before, I walked over to the toilets and saw there was a diner that was open so took a look what was on offer. The staff were very polite and helpful and explained I had £5 off of food as I was parking overnight. I ordered my dinner based upon seeing another ‘very happy’ truckers meal and within 10/15 minutes or so my food was bought over to me. It was very nice, hot and fresh and well worth the money. From the feeling I got, they sound like they are under new management and I heard a guy saying they are going to refurbish the driver facilities. I did use the facilities and they were clean and tidy. The restaurant was very welcoming and looked freshly painted. The Truck parking area is hard standing with no huge potholes and in good condition. They also have a truck wash here that’s open during the day. I will definitely use this place again and will definitely consider stopping for the occasional breakfast or lunch here when passing. Well done to everyone at Risby TruckStop who are clearly putting in the effort.

I reviewed this as Coopers Cabin but looks the same place. I had great food, two ladies working efficiently and the food was excellent, hot and out quickly.

I visited Risby Truckstop restaurant today. The place is impeccably clean, with clean shower facilities. The shower heads need replacing as they shoot out a spurt of water to the shower door. The restaurant was clean with a friendly staff member. The quality of the food was not good however and was overpriced. Nearly £10 for a breakfast in a place serving truckers means that a driver could be spending £50 on breakfasts alone during the week. My meal was a full English breakfast. The beans and tomatoes arrived stone cold suggesting they used a microwave to heat them up, a quick blast in a microwave will give the illusion that they are piping hot, yet after a few minutes they turn stone cold. The eggs, "sunny side up" had not had chance to cook properly. The top half of the eggs were raw. I was able to scrape off the clear uncooked egg with my fried bread. The bacon was luke warm at best. I generally got the impression that things were pre cooked and then heated. So, I left having had a nice shower and a bit disappointed about the food. There was, only one person doing everything. If there were at least two, the food could be cooked to order. I noted that it was still "breakfast time", however, although the fuel station and truck wash were non stop, not many people were stopping to eat. If the food is on par and priced for the clientele (you would pay £10 in a normal restaurant - not a truckstop) then word would spread and people will go out of their way to stop there during the day. My review is honest, not with any malice and constructive - I would like to see what can be a hidden gem do well. But in the spirit of honesty, it's fifteen years since I last ventured there - because the food was not up to scratch last time, and it will be a little while before I give it another chance. All the best

We were looking for somewhere to stop for breakfast on our way back from holiday. It is a little way off the A14 but well signposted so easy enough to find. I will be honest and say I did not expect much but I am happy to say I was so wrong. 10 tables at most and spotlessly clean. We were warmly greeted and chose from the breakfast menu. Not a long wait until breakfast arrived, well cooked and huge portions. Extremely good value for money too. So if you are in the area give them a try.

Stopped over night in the truck park and had a meal in the restaurant. Truck park is ok, next to the A14 so you get a little traffic noise but not so much as to disturb you, also the ground is just a dirt piece of land so as it was a dry day it was very dusty. Had to keep doors and windows shut which wasn't ideal as it was a warm night and could have done with them being open. On a wet day you'd struggle to keep the mud off your boots and out of the cab. No win situation really. Had the roast beef dinner and a cup of tea which was reasonably priced. The dinner was really nice and a very good plate full, well worth the money. Would stop here again if only for the dinner. Shame about the parking area.

Massive portion of tasty homemade lasagna, chips and salad for £6.95. Could have fed two people really.

Hours of service depends on the mood of the staff. Absolute dust bowl when it's dry and a mud pit when wet. The facilities are very old could use a disinfectant. Cannot comment on the food as the three times I've been here the food is either almost all done or the kitchen is closed. Dodgy spot........use a lay-bye instead.

Just had a lovely breakfast with 5 of my colleagues. The food came hot and was all very nice. My only criticism is the size of the large breakfast and the price. But all in all very nice. Thankyou!

10/10 for this place. Friendly bunch and they are always happy to welcome a huge group of us. Recently prices seem to be cheaper which was a shock on our last visit and the portion sizes very generous. (Visit - 23/07/2015 Breakfast)

Stopped overnight in the lorry parking area, it's a cross between a dust bowl and a quagmire, the restaurant staff are friendly and welcoming. Food was standard truck stop fair which is rather pricey. If you stop overnight you will get free tea/coffee refills all night. Wash rooms need upgrading as they are rather dated, shower cubicles were clean apart from the mildew on the ceiling and the shower push button that fell off the wall. Would I stop again, only if I had nowhere else to stay.

A while since our last visit, great to find the car park relaid and the place spruced up. Fantastic place for fish&chips (they let me substitute fries too), for £11 wasn’t expecting a giant fresh perfectly battered cod - best had in ages. Bumped into some neighbours who’d also made the journey to seek it out. Lovely decor and welcoming landlord and staff! We will be back and not leave it so long!

5 out of 5, lovely lunchtime meal with family, 2 lasagnas and 2 steak and ale pies, everything was homemade and thoroughly delicious, portion sizes were very large, excellent value for money would highly recommend. Will definitely return for more
