Went for the first time on a Saturday evening. Four adults two dogs. Amazing service - super efficient, very friendly, brilliant. Food was incredible! Absolutely amazing. Can’t wait to come back!! Deffo a five star review.

Lovely menu, lots of choice, something for everyone

Had a lovely steak and enjoyed the quiz night held on the last Thursday of each month. By far one of the best pubs in the chew valley.

Booking was easy and the staff were really helpful when we decided we’d prefer to sit inside due to it being a little chilly. All of us had roast dinners which were amazing and really hit the spot.

There’s a huge gap in the market for a decent pub with a play area for children, the pubs out there are usually really rough with terrible food. This place is an absolute GEM! Great food, beautiful garden with a large play area for children and lovely helpful staff. An absolute hidden gem.

Absolutely delighted we were lucky enough to get a table for Sunday lunch. The staff were amazing, the food delicious and the wine exemplary. Only drawback a couple of very noisy table with children who were obviously having a “who can speak louder” competition. It is the luck of the draw as to whether you have a normal day or a shouty day and we drew the short straw on the occasion. Would say it wasn’t just the children who found the need to keep raising their voices. That said just the best and so good have just booked for an overnight stay which will factor in another Sunday Lunch, light supper followed next day with an amazing breakfast! Thank you!

We booked a joint family birthday party for 11. From the start communication was exceptional. We arrived and were greater by staff who took us too our table. The were so friendly and accommodating and attended to our every need. As we had pre ordered our food choices, it was ready as soon as we were. What a marvellous team the kitchen staff are. From starters, main course and onto puddings, each course was a delight and taste sensation, beautifully presented. I honestly can't wait to visit again. We were so well looked after and the food abd drink was superb. I heartily recommend a visit for a meal, drink or as a venue for group celebrations. Our family will return very soon. Thank you to all the team, you made our day!

What a great pub! A bar and a BBQ smoker in the garden - plenty of attentive and able staff to look after us - we had a fabulous time and will definitely be back. Many thanks Stewart - you run a top notch establishment - best food and staff we’ve come across for a long time.

We all really enjoyed our meals - the beef burger, fish and chips, chicken Milanese, truffle fries, biscoff donuts and after eight desert. Genuinely the best pub food I’ve ever had (and I’ve been to many!).

We enjoyed everything about the Ring O Bells in Compton Martin. Chicken Milanese was generous and full of flavour, fish was light and perfectly cooked and the batter was crispy. Our grown up daughter said this was ‘the best burger I’ve ever had’ (and she has extensive experience!) Mini puds also delicious (biscoff donuts and minted chocolate ice cream [two dishes not a combo!]) Service and ambience very pleasant. The fact that we happened to be visiting on a Wednesday when the brewery offers 25% off food if you join their loyalty scheme was the icing on a very tasty cake.

The food was excellent although a bit pricey

We had a great lunch here after visiting Cheddar Gorge. The food and service were first class. A beautiful place for a pleasant meal.

Great find and stop off point on our way back home from holiday. Food is really really good, attentive service and spacious rooms. Nothing much in the village but the pub is very popular with locals filling the large garden area on the evenings we were there

We really enjoyed burgers, fries & MASSIVE onion rings. One serving of onion rings is enough for 4 people! 🥳 The carpark is big, the pub garden is huge and you will be served by very friendly staff. We can recommend the beef burger and vegetarian burger. My partner said it was the best vegetarian burger she’s ever had!

Beautiful place, great atmosphere. The rooms are really nice with a great shower. The manager was fantastic, very helpful and a really friendly guy 😀My wife & I will definitely visit again 😀 Full English breakfast was beautiful 👌

Had a lovely meal to celebrate our dog’s birthday. Food was served promptly and beautifully presented. It tasted even better. Nice surroundings and garden space.

Great pub garden with lots of seating, an outdoor bar and kids playground. Cosy pub interior and lots of options on the menu - we really love the BBQ food they do on Fridays and Saturdays!

Lovely pub. Great food. Nice staff. Lovely garden and quality play area for children too. Broader selection of mains on the menu could be advantageous, but regardless what we had was delicious. Will return in the future.

This is a lovely pub! In the summer with the sunny evenings enjoying a pint! I love the pub quiz each month as well! A lovely chilled place to go to!

Amazing local pub, wonderful friendly service and great food!

Obviously a very popular venue as it was absolutely heaving, and we couldn’t park for ages. We were asked if we wanted to order as soon as we sat down but declined as we hadn’t seen the menu. We were asked again but felt we were being rushed. A table next to us of elderly gentleman got up to ask the bar manager where their drinks were that they had ordered half an hour before and the reply was “well, what did you order”! Not an utterance of apology. We ordered our food about 8.30pm and it finally came out at quarter to ten! We had to go up to the bar to chase up our bottle of wine that didn’t materialise. And three of us were disappointed with our choices - pork rib steaks that were fatty and chewy and undercooked, and a piece of chicken with some rocket and nothing else. The chicken was a tasty dish but needed potatoes or something with it (I think everything was extra). Both were expensive dishes (£21). Puddings were miniscule at £8.50 each. We felt sorry for the waitresses apologising to everyone all evening but they obviously couldn’t cope in the kitchen. We were charged an extra £1 for asking for some custard with one of the puddings and we were kindly pointed out to that the service charge was already included. Great atmosphere on a sunny summer evening in the garden and probably a good choice if you’re out for a burger and a pint, but chaotic restaurant with disappointing and overpriced food.

Ordered the ring 'o' meats platter from the bbq specials menu yesterday. Everything tasted great and was more than enough for two of us to share, and was a great way to sample several of the options available. Thanks to Chef Nik for the great food.

Excellent night. Super service and always a warm welcome. Food was good but I struggle with £5.35 for a pint of shandy - maybe I am out of touch. We'll still keep coming, as it is definitely the best Butcombe pub in the group and we love it there.

I don't normally do reviews but I thought they deserved one. Lovely B&B, with great staff, good food and excellent value for money. Nothing negative to say really.

Once again the food was absolutely first class. we had a party of 11 and nothing was to much trouble. definitely the best Butcombe pub in the valley. its a shame the Langford inn doesn't follow this example!!

Very enjoyable stay and staff very attentive. Easy to get to the airport only a15 minute drive away. When next having an early flight would stay again.

Stayed here following a last minute decision to spend the weekend visiting Wells. Very comfortable well furnished bedroom, polite, friendly, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Pub was genuinely dog friendly. Would definitely recommend.

We had dinner on a sunny Wednesday eve - enjoyed the garden and the generous 20% discount. Food was great, as usual. The service unfortunately wasn't, on this occasion. Four members of staff presented a friendly but muddled, lack lustre experience, largely found milling about at the end of the bar mostly. Friends of staff being served before customers already waiting, no consistent staff present in the garden, (despite it being almost full and only five customers inside). Meaning you were up and down chasing sides or drinks etc, ultimately dampening the whole experience. People were being ‘served’, but there was no ‘customer service’ to talk of. Shame.

A sunny Saturday evening , great young vibe

Had a 1 night stay with dog enroute from Cornwall back north. The Ring o Bells was a great find, country pub with a well appointed room, great food and great service, all the staff were really helpful in every way - service with a smile, would happily go back there.

We had a lovely stay whilst walking the Butcombe Trail. The room was comfortable and well appointed and the food was delicious. Stuart and the staff were excellent.

Myself and my partner had a really lovely evening here (25/5/24) the staff were great and very accommodating, we had the bbq food which was amazing! The whole evening was just wonderful and the food was to die for! Very quick service, great conversation with the staff and the atmosphere was really pleasant. Can’t wait to go back 😊😊😊😊😊

Overnight stay after landing at Bristol Airport. Great video direction to our room, thank you Stewart as we didn't arrive until 1am.

Exceptionally good tasting food. This was too delicious to be described as a burger. Certainly not like any burger I've tasted before. Melt in your mouth stuff!! Very helpful and welcoming staff. Everyone seemed happy and relaxed, staff and punters alike. Will definitely return.

Had a wonderful meal I had the aged steak cooked in garlic butter with the chimichurri sauce and it was out of this world, the best steak I have ever had! I would recommend the ring o bells to anyone lovely pub friendly staff wonderful food

Stopped off here on the way to Newport and what a great find. The girls on the bar were super friendly and helpful and food was lovely. It was nice and busy for mid afternoon which was nice to see in a pub these days.

Very nice place to eat. Had the roast dinner chicken and it was delicious. Fresh with a lovely home cooked feel. Ordered the cauliflower cheese extra and it was one of the best I have had. Presentation makes it look small but plenty of food and I felt full. Yorkshire pudding was lovely.

Cosy pub in a beautiful area, with friendly staff and some decent pub grub options for vegans! The chef kindly prepared an off-menu pie option for us which was delicous, but on menu there are some lovely dishes too, particularly the biscoff doughnuts dessert!

Mother's Day meal. Good menu, plenty of choice across all the courses. We had beef for main - exceptional. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Celebrating our 42nd wedding anniversary. The food was amazing but on this occasion the service was chaotic long wait between each course, wrong drinks and the bill was wrong but easily resolved.

Wonderful country pub with friendly, attentive staff and a fabulous menu, with creative dishes and traditional favourites alike. The food was amazing, especially the fine selection of pies for National Pie Week. Took my mum here for an early mother's day lunch and we had a great time. Thanks again!

We had a really enjoyable 3 night stay here. Stuart the manager was great and all the staff were helpful and friendly, and it seems obvious they are happy to work there, nothing seems too much trouble. We ate breakfast every morning and two evening meals which were lovely, with plenty of choice on the evening meal menu. If we are that way again we wouldn't hesitate to re-visit the Ring O Bells! The rain made the pub look cold but the inside was SO welcoming. A warm crackling fire, woodsmoke smell with a comforting atmosphere. The beer was well worth tasting. Although short staffed on that day, we were made very welcome with smiles all around. There are steps down from the car park and from the front door only one inside up to the restaurant area though you can eat anywhere so easy for wheelchairs too. We arrived for lunch and couldn't decide what to have. Steak and mushroom pie (pie of the day) met every expectation - full pastry pie (not just on the top) there was lots of pieces of fall apart steak in a tasty gravy with mushrooms. My husband chose steak sandwich and a bowl of chips, he too praised the tasty, well cooked slice steak and toasted bread. When you go you must try the chips. 5*. You HAVE to go and decide for yourselves. We will be going back again and taking friends with us next time.

I love this pub, the decor is stylish and comfortable. The staff are friendly and very attentive. The food is fab, I always have a pie when I go, you won’t disappointed.

Nice atmosphere although the table next to us thought their dogs should be allowed to lie wherever they wanted to despite polite hints that perhaps our chairs might at some time hit them? Food is nice, not outstanding and I think a bit overpriced. Portions could be bigger too on some dishes. Not sure if we’d bother again, just wasn’t as good as we thought it would be.

Been for a few meals here, last was a Sunday Roast. The beef was excellent, the vegetables were great, but the roast potatoes were bland and the Yorkshire was flat as a pancake. I could have forgiven the Yorkshire but not the roast potatoes.

We went for a meal last night. The food was first rate. The staff were attentive, professional and polite through out (even to a man who was being EXTREMELY rude and argumentative to them for what appeared to be no good reason - probably one of those who complain to try and get a discount!). Definitely recommend for a lovely meal and great atmosphere.

Food bland and stodgy. Menu remains the same for months on end. Ingredients are not seasonal. Majority of staff are clumsyand clueless but well meaning. Manageress was rude, condescending, passive aggressive, argumentative and incapable of resolving a minor issue.

Food was very nice and staff were friendly, despite looking a little short handed they did a fabulous job.

My first visit of many more. Gorgeous pub, friendly staff and food to die for. The mini Biscoff donuts, pumpkin spice ice cream and roasted toffee apple was out of this world! My best meal out in a very long time. 👌

You were very busy and I did not get the tsble I asked for when I booked over a month go. We thought your menu was less good than previously. We had 2 vegetarias with us and you only had 1 vegetarian option. The level of background noise made conversation very difficult. All in all a disappointment compared with previous visits.

Had a delicious roast dinner here on Christmas eve lunchtime, two of the party had chicken and I had beef. Our dogs were welcome and settled in very well, the blazing open fire cast a cosy glow throughout the pub and the service was excellent too. A very pleasant atmosphere in which to enjoy good food and a pint, we will definitely be going back soon for more of the same.

We went here for our Christmas meal last year and we have talked about how amazing it was all year! We visited again yesterday and again it was fantastic. The food is delicious, beautifully presented and generous portions. The staff are really polite and friendly. The pub is clean, beautifully decorated and welcoming. Would absolutely recommend.

Met 2 friends from W-s-M here for lunch on Thursday and we were having such a lovely time in a fabulous atmosphere we stayed all afternoon. Food was fabulous. Beautifully cooked and presented... Staff were all lovely. Really Christmas-y cosy feel to the place. Definitely coming back....

Met up with friends for lunch today and we always try and find somewhere 1/2way between Bristol & WSM. We weren’t disappointed with our choice the young lady was very good and kept coming to our table to see if we’d made our choices. When the food came it was all nicely presented, my husband had the venison faggots this he found to be very tasty. Our friends husband had the burger and again this was huge, myself and his wife had the large fish and chips, this is large be warned, again very tasty and the chips were delicious. We weren’t rushed in anyway whatsoever there was a log fire I think as I could smell wood burning.

Great atmosphere. Excellent food and service, including great choices for the kids. Good range of wines by the glass, beers, ciders and non-alcoholic beverages. Plus if you're a Butcombe member (just need the app), you get 25% off food on a Wednesday and as it was my wife's birthday, she got a free bottle of prosecco too!

Great food well cooked. Lots of really attentive and friendly staff. Had one of the two rooms for the night, nice rooms even come with a complimentary beer and small prosecco.
