It took them a long time to serve us although it is true that there were 20 people. They also gave us a table that was a board on trestles. Maybe my bad experience was due to the number of people. Very good food and wonderful atmosphere.

It's a lovely pub but when we visited for drinks on a Friday lunchtime and got a cider and a Fursty Ferret. The Fursty Ferret was horrible and vinegary. The lady behind the bar kindly swapped it for a Badger Best beer but that was also foul. Didn't bother asking for another different beer as all the beers were off. Been to this pub in Bath before and always disappointed by their beer.

We entered the pub, looked very nice but was soon to be disappointed! We wanted to sit in the roof terrace but there were no signs to say if you order downstairs and take your drink with you or there is a bar upstairs. The member of staff I asked said she didn't know! I asked another member of staff and they said order here ....I ordered our drinks, they were out of Outland Tropical and sparkling water. I carried our drinks upstairs, to the terrace, the floor and table were filthy and sticky.....also the seagulls which I know you can't avoid but it would help if there was a member of staff on the terrace permanently clearing the tables as soon as the customers left...loads of empty plates and dishes encouraging the gulls! Lots of complaining customers mainly saying they had their food but not their cutlery! I'm in hospitality and rule one before the food goes out, make sure the customers have their cutlery!

Thoroughly disappointed, avoid these scammers! The service was incredibly rude and slow. The roast was dry and small, the Yorkshire puddings were just air, and ultra crispy. Moreover, they lied about the unlimited Yorkshire puddings on the menu, and refused to serve them. The menu was also extremely limited, most options were not available, even the pizzas. Will not be coming here again.

Had a family meal for four here today. Atmosphere was nice, looked great. Very disappointed with the food which cost me 85 pounds for four. I had a satay burger. the chicken was a tiny portion no where near even half a chicken breast. On top of this it was dry and tasteless. And the satay for this was a small spoonful of satay sauce atop the chicken. Not very inventive there. They fries were ok, but hey it's fries right and the chilli jam was tasty, but when the small pot of sauce is the tastiest part of your 18 pound meal, it's bad. Not exaggerating but a meal deal of the day McDonald's chilli chicken wrap for 1.99 beats this for taste and value hand's down. My partner had mac and cheese, and a small dish of this came with a scrunch of salad leaves, that also is not a good values meal for another 18 pounds. Sorry but in today's world they need to try harder.

The food was nice and we used the wheelchair lift for our buggy. When we visited the place was busy with good atmosphere. Worth a visit.

The meeting place for a weekend of festivities and it was perfect for some time in the sun. The drinks tasted cheap, but did not have a price tag to match. The food was genuinely not good and felt like they could have come from a school cafeteria. The food service was very fast but the drinks just took forever as there were not enough staff to meet demand. I would return, but mostly because it has the best rooftop in the area (although they could put some effort into sprucing it up).

I visited Hall & Woodhouse Bath on a Saturday evening for dinner and drinks with some family. The restaurant and bar is spread over several levels, with the ground floor mainly a bar, then a restaurant level on the first floor. They've also got a rooftop terrace, which would have been nice to enjoy a pre-dinner drink if it wasn't being a typical British summer and raining. The meal started off very strong, as I shared a Baked Somerset Camembert - which was very well flavored and had plenty of things to dip in it. I opted for the Nduja Chicken for my main course, which was very disappointing. The sauce with the rather small chicken breast was essentially a spicy oil - but it was completely over-powering and just made everything greasy. It cost nearly £20 too - so not cheap 'pub grub'. The drinks at Hall & Woodhouse were good, and I must say the Long Island Iced Teas were very well made and good value too. The service we had in the bar was quite slow and the waitress who served us looked like she wanted to go home. However, the service once we were sat in the restaurant was much better. The staff were friendly and attentive, and made sure we were well looked after. Overall, it was a mixed bag whilst visiting Hall & Woodhouse. Parts of it were good, parts of it were bad. It's definitely a place to visit for drinks - however I would potentially think twice before visiting again for food.

MORE AT Google

If you find yourself meandering through the picturesque streets of Bath, bathed in its classical elegance, you'll stumble upon Hall & Woodhouse. Now, this isn't just any run-of-the-mill boozer. No, it’s a masterful blend of old-world charm and modern flair. As you step inside, you're greeted by a warm, inviting ambiance that says, "Yes, you are indeed in a traditional British pub." But then, just as you're settling into this comforting notion, you spot a spiral staircase. Yes, a spiral staircase that whisks you away to a rooftop terrace that’s rather nice, I must say. It's the perfect place to gaze over the rooftops of Bath while nursing your pint or getting slightly tipsy on something a bit more effervescent. Now, let’s talk drinks. The beer selection is robust, reassuringly British, and designed to please even the most discerning ale aficionado. But here’s where things get interesting. Come Saturday night, the place transforms. Suddenly, you’re surrounded by ladies in their finest attire, sipping cocktails and Prosecco like there’s no tomorrow. It's like a scene from a film – utterly brilliant and completely unexpected. But wait, there's more. For those early birds or, dare I say, the peculiar breed who don't appreciate a good pint, there's a coffee bar. Yes, you heard that right. A coffee bar, catering to the caffeine enthusiasts and the morning shoppers who pop in for a quick fix. In short, Hall & Woodhouse is a bit of a gem. It's got the traditional pub feel, the modern bar vibe, and a rooftop terrace that’ll make you the envy of your mates. Whether you’re there for a beer, a cocktail, or even just a coffee, it’s definitely worth a visit. Cheers!

We booked for a table of 8 for Father’s Day. Upon arrival we were stood waiting to be shown our seats, then were left without any service. Had to go out to the bar to ask for food and drinks menus, as well as asking for service to take our orders after sitting there for half an hour . We were surrounded by a few different tables who all were experiencing table service, and due to the high number of us, we chose not to follow the QR code route as could see that table service was an option. After waiting half an hour to get service we finally placed our orders, 20 minutes later our drink orders were then lost and had to wait another 10 minutes to finally get our drinks in which the wrong drinks were bought several times. Upon the drinks arriving, one of our two shared starters came out and the second nearly 10 minutes later. Then when our mains finally started coming out nearly a 15 minute wait between the first and last plate , half the food was cold, we mostly ordered beef in which was all very chewy. i was the last the receive the meal after being asked if I even ordered a main as they had only another one to bring out even tho 8 mains were ordered in total. following this, after asking for cauliflower cheese when ordering and being told they had sold out, we opted for pigs in blankets instead, which were forgotten about and brought out later with a side of cauliflower flower cheese on the house due to the disrupted service, even tho we were told they were sold out? Incredibly disappointed with the service, especially after recommending my family to dine here and being met with staff ignoring our table and being stared at multiple times by servers once we complained about the lack of attentiveness to our table as well as being ‘ we will deal with it, pleas sit back down’ when going up to ask about the problem with the drinks when waiting 30 minutes. Would not recommend here, seems that other reviews have shared similar poor service even when the restaurant was not full.

We paid using the scan barcode which I later regretted paying in advance. Our food came out at different times so we didn’t eat together, beef was really chewy hard to even cut through and the potatoes were hard. Was going to complain at the end but got fed up of waiting for someone to even come over to clear our plates so didn’t bother, loads of members off staff stood at the bar when we left and not one said good bye or anything like normally they do in a restaurant. Our meal at Hall and Woodhouse was disappointing for three reasons. 1) Inadequate/lack of gluten-free options. Their answer to make a roast dinner gluten-free was to remove the Yorkshire pudding rather than providing an alternative. If you are going to take something of someone’s plate, provide something else or amend the price. When we queried this, we were just told that the Yorkshire puddings had gluten in. Yes, we know. 2) Poor service. Waiting for drinks menu, poured our own wine as the waitress left it at the end of the table, plates were taken while someone was still eating. There was also a bit of a bad atmosphere being caused by another table and the staff. 3) Lack of acknowledgment of booking notes. We had written on the booking notes and called to say that there was a gluten-free member of the party, but we were not provided with a gluten free menu, and the waiter could not point to the gluten free options on the menu without checking. Similarly, we stated on the call and booking notes that this was an engagement celebration. Why provide the option for booking notes if you’re going to ignore them?

We came here for brunch. The decor in here is interesting in a good way, lots to see. I loved the light up tree in the centre of the room, and the copper walls on the way to the toilets are really eye-catching. When we arrived we were greeted by two friendly staff members (males) and allowed to choose our own table. During the time of ordering, the restaurant wasn't busy. Therefore, food was cooked and served to us promptly. We had to wait a couple of minutes for the last meal to be bought to the table, which was a bit of a nuisance. You expect all meals to be bought out together, especially as there were only three meals. The food tasted great, and the portion sizes were good. I do not order salads at restaurants, but I couldn't resist the salad after reading it on the menu. And boy, I was not disappointed! There were plenty of croutons, chicken, and bacon. It was really lovely. After eating, I fancied a hot chocolate. Unfortunately, they did not have any in stock. We did not order any cocktails but saw a few being delivered to tables nearby, and they looked nice. Overall, we all had a pleasant visit here and enjoyed our meals. I have given four stars as it felt a bit chilly in here and for the fact they did not have any dark or white hot chocolate (we visited an hour after opening). So, I was surprised they were out of stock.

Feels so lovely to be able to take your dog out for a restaurant meal. Really great service and yummy food.

Visited for lunch and was very happy with the special ham and chicken pie ! Excellent quality and well presented . Quite a few things sold out on the menu but managed to find a suitable alternative . Love the book at table option as can reserve my seat without going to the bar ! Important when dining alone

Lovely venue..loved the staircase lit up! Nice food although I would have liked vegetables with my duck and the amount was little. The security was a little over the top aswell when me and my pal were fooling around a little and just trying to enjoy ourselves.

I live in Bath and the service across many bars and restaurants is really very good and makes the City a great place to visit and experience with family and friends. Tonight was the exception and the experience was very poor. We arrived without a reservation and took a table in the lower bar at about 6pm. At about 7pm one of the waiters told us the table was reserved for 8pm. Not a problem we said. Then at 7.50 a different member of staff asked us to vacate the table as the guests had arrived. He was rude, unfriendly and basically didn't care about us as customers. He made us feel unwelcome, inferior and when we said it's only 7.50 he said "well, the previous waiters should have told you, you need to vacate the table 15 minutes before". Truly dreadful service from this individual. The Manager on duty did apologise, which was appreciated but the damage was done.

Lovely venue. Victorian/Edwardian botanist/, explorer vibe in decir. With plants and antiquities on wooden shelves and cabinets We sat outside on the rooftop terrace as it was such a beautiful day. A variety of drinks on offer. We didn't eat there so I can't comment on the food but the drinks were lovely. There's a variety of non alcoholic drinks on offer too. Staff were really fast and friendly and helpful.

If you’re looking for a good place to have a drink and enjoy the atmosphere this will do the job. However, if you’re looking to eat I would avoid the sandwiches. The steak ciabatta was filled with off cuts of fat and not much steak

Preordered for 21 people for a special birthday dinner & they couldn't have got it more wrong. I felt sorry for the staff as they tried their best but were woefully under staffed and briefed.

Great location, lovely interior and good food. Had an early evening meal before the rugby. Food was good and portions generous. Views from the rooftop are great and definitely worth a trip up even if the weather isn’t great. We were served by Holly, who was friendly and attentive from the start. Nothing was too much trouble and she definitely contributed to our positive experience

We came for lunch on a Saturday whilst visiting the city. Despite the whole area being empty, the waitress took a long time to find us a table as all others were booked. We enjoyed a salad and a drink in the pleasant environment however, I did the get the feeling that I was visiting a chain restaurant. The staff were on hand and helpful when approached.

Nice restaurant with great variety of food and reasonable prices. It has two floors and it's very spacious. There is even an afternoon-tea-like room on the left as you go in with nice decoration and quiet atmosphere.

The service I cannot fault however the food was appalling. Everything had been pre cooked/hanging around the pasta was rubbery and soggy, one of my party had the confit duck which was tough and inedible. We did get refunded for this but that’s not the point. How a chef lets that’s food out to paying customers is shameful. The toilets were beyond filthy. All in all it was a real shame as we have eaten here before and it was good. As I say our waitress and the front of house staff were really attentive and I cannot fault.
