Rigby Cafe Lounge in Barnsley

After seeing this place in the barnsley chronicle scoring a 1 out of 5 for the kitchen food preparation the week before we went.We were apprehensive about dining here.But the mother in-law had already booked it.There was no drinks service at the table to start with.There was ten adults and two children.The veg were poor.I think they had microwaved dairylea slices over the Cauliflower.The potatoes were smash.They had never seen a potato peeler.the presentation was awful potatoes in a cereal bowl.No options for the choice of meats.Just put on the table and you get what you're given.We asked for condiments after not being offered them.They turned up after we had all about finished our meal.Not enough food to go round constantly asking for veg and meat.l felt embarrassed for the mother in-law who had booked the family gathering for her birthday.I thought it was going to be bad enough thinking about what was going on in the kitchen.But front of house.Standard of food and the lack of.To go with the service.What a let down IN ALL AREAS.We will never visit again.VERY VERY POOR!!!!!!

We called in after a swimming lesson with a family member. The restaurant is nice and inviting. The young lad serving.. wish I got his name, but he was so lovely, attentive and friendly. The food was lovely also. I had a wrap with a side of chips.

Had a cup of tea whilst waiting for my daughter. When she arrived, we decided to try a festive coffee (Nutcracker). Requested due to an intolerance one of these be made with very little coffee. On eventual arrival (the three young women were relentlessly slating another absent female member of staff the entire time I had been there) both coffees were literally cold, which we realised straight away. I had to go and find a mmber of staff as all had disappeared to far end, there was only a couple of other customers in there. The young lady with the false eyelashes was non-apologetic, stated she hadn't made them, and all she could offer was to warm them up. When I pointed out this would spoil the cream and various toppings and embellishments on top, she shrugged and said it was all she do, she could not re-make the drinks. When she brought drinks across, they were hot, but all melted into just what looked like hot milk. When I asked her which was the one with very little caffeine, she said she had no idea and walked off! This is appalling customer service to say the least. These coffee cost almost £4 each and were disgusting. We would never return here. I would also hate to be the poor woman they were talking about.

Been for first time today food was beautiful and staff was lovely couldn't do enough for u definitely recommend I be back again soon

What a disaster this cafe/bar/Restuarant is, if I owned it I would be embarrassed. We where a party of 8 and one of 3 tables in the place which should have give me the heads up on how bad this place is. Anyway we had 4 adult carvery’s, 4 children’s paying for them was a nightmare but in case you do go here is how it works: 1. Sit down at the table 2. Get up and go place your order at the cafe till 3. Collect your drinks from the bar on the way to your table 4. Wait at your table for someone to take your food order that you have already paid for 5. Wait a little while for dry meat, microwaved roast potatoes and other hard veg. 6. Order desserts from the table while they close half the restaurant wall (subtle get out I think at 3.30pm on a Sunday) 7. Desserts delivered no spoons and one incorrect, 8.wait over 10 min for spoons 9. Have the waitress come argue with you that what she brought out incorrectly was correct and that the cheesecake we actually wanted wasn’t cheese cake. 10. Consider walking out and not paying for the stale desserts but then feel bad that they had 11. members of staff they will need to pay for standing around being useless. 12. Pay for desserts mention you wasn’t happy in return for a “sorry” , then clarified if the cheesecake was cheese cake it was so we where correct. 13. Leave the place and never look back! I think this is a very fair review if your the owner you need half the number of staff to give this experience so either save yourself the money or make your staff work for it. Also tell your “chef” they need to learn what a cheesecake is because it’s embarrassing for the waitress to try and argue with us about it.

Awful, it took nearly an hour for our carvery to come out, when it did half of our dinner was missing. Yorkshire Puddings were undercooked and the meat was cut into tiny pieces. We've been coming regularly for years but won't be back again after today. Extremely bad organisation and staff were lacklustre

Food was just OK starter board was lovely but the rest was nothing special and pudding particularly poor. This was supposed to be a party night with live entertainment but the view was obstructed and no thought given to the positioning. Staff not masked which was very disappointing as it is also a covid vaccine centre.

Fabulous meal. Staff were really helpful and polite. Reasonable price for what you get. Liked it better that you were served at the table than helping yourself.

They have it sorted here. Tables apart, staff very organised and really lovely. Pay at the table as you order, tick list of what you want but can have the lot including all 3 meats if u want. Super fast service fetched to the table in serving dishes there was so much we couldnt eat it all and the gravy was lush. Even better it was 50%off but was so good we will be back soon as it's well worth paying full price for.🥰

Loved the new style carvery the food was fresh and hot, portions sizes generous. We actually preferred this to the normal style. Table ordering via a QR code and plenty of distancing meant that we felt very safe too

Good customer service. Your order is taken at your table and brought to you in dishes so you can serve yourself. Plenty of space to socially distance. Will be returning. Well done all

Visited Rigby Cafe Lounge for Sunday Lunch. Good choices of meat I had Turkey and Beef home made Yorkshire Puddings. Good choice of vegetables and Mash and Roast potatoes very tasty gravy. We really enjoyed our visit good value for two course and efficient service in a large bright restaurant we had a window seat. Will certainly be returning. A high quality fresh Sunday carvery.

Having not been for many years we went as a family group for Sunday lunch having pre booked we arrived and were pointed to our table by two ladies wearing black we were looking at starters however nobody came to serve us or explain how we went about ordering or paying we never had a member of staff come to our table or speak to us despite three girls wearing black and white two wearing black and one in grey and purple we decided to just go to the car very as we arrived the chef was leaving so we stood about again nobody spoke after being served our table wasn’t cleared I ordered a sweet and was asked if I had paid for mains I paid the bill stating nobody had approached us during our visit we left after two hours during the majority of the time the waitress staff were huddled together chatting by the bar the food was good although the Yorkshire pud was like cardboard however would no go again due to the shocking service

We decided to try the rigby suite for a carvery as we haven't been for a number of years. The choice of meat was good - gammon, yurkey, beef or pork the beef is cooked well done which isn't to my tastes but all very tender. The crackling on the pork particularly is delicious. a couple of minor grapes the roast potatoes won't grow some of them could have been done with being cooked for a little longer and the gravy is actually too thick I love the gravy but that was almost solid as it cooled. It was a nice touch to have gravy boats where you could take extra with you though

Just been for another good Carvery, meat cooked well, all veg spot on. Only issue is gravy , it was far too thick. Apart from that it was excellent.

We visited after swimming and decided to have lunch. The food was excellent and portions generous. We ate the giant Yorkshire puddings and the children had macaroni cheese and a burger all were equally as good. Will definitely be visiting again.

The Carvery was excellent, the meat plentiful and all piping hot. There were an endless list of deserts to choose. Within our family we had 3 different deserts and they were very good. Great value for money. The staff were all very nice.

I was surprised how lovely the carvery was to be totally honest. Really enjoyed it and was given plenty. Will definitely return.

It was an xmas meal which was excellent from the starter to the sweet could not fault the quality or quantity ,we are on our own christmas party this Saturday and they are going to have to go some to top it.
