Came here for lunch. Was a lovely place to sit and the staff were lovely but the food was really poor. We both had a ploughman’s but we would have been better ordering a ham or cheese sandwich as we would have received more! Very small portion for the price and with stale bread and thin ham

Two of us eating. Poor quality ingredients, inaccurate menu descriptions, soggy, overcooked baked potato absolutely swamped with butter. Horrible slaw, not cited on the menu. Egg mayonnaise over-mashed and tasteless. Wet, packet ham (in Wiltshire!?). Ordered ham ploughman's but it arrived at the table as half ham, half cheese. Didn't complain for fear that the re-ordering process would be even slower than the first, which was very slow indeed. Also the only cafe or restaurant I've ever been in where there is a surcharge (50p) for gluten free bread. Couldn't finish our lunches. The sourdough bread and the building (and toilets) were the only thing that were nice.

My friend and I went for lunch, she had been several times before but it was a first for me. I was not disappointed, the server, a young guy, was polite and friendly, we both ordered tuna wraps and a cup of tea. The teapot was super sized, enough for us both to have several cups of tea, the wraps were delicious, they were very generous with the tuna and it came with a fresh salad and crisps. It was a thoroughly enjoyable lunch with a view of the cathedral.

If I lived in Salisbury, this would be my go-to cafe for lunch. We visited twice during our weekend break. Once for homemade soup and once for perfect cheese scones and coffee. Everything was top quality and delicious and the service was efficient and very warm. A gem!

Great place, not far from the cathedral, on the green. We had a lovely lunch served by a very friendly waitress who said it was her first day! We enjoyed some great food (mediterranean quiche and a fish pie) and felt very relaxed in lovely surroundings. Would definitely recommend and return.

Great hidden Gem, I’ve been to Salisbury so many time and have never seen this place . My partner and I visited today and selected afternoon tea and were so pleased we did . Deliciously filled sandwiches. Scrumptious warm scones with cream and jam , and some delightful cake that we brought home as there was so much . Excellent value for money . Will 100% be going back to try the other items on the menu.

Booked this afternoon tea in the beautiful grounds for a family visit. My partner had never had an afternoon tea so was really excited . I on the other hand had had many so kind of knew what to expect. After a long wait and having to ask if it was going to be served we was presented with the tier of selection.I was not impressed. One little finger each of egg, cheese & tuna, one large doughy in the middle scone and instead of a selection of sweets one large slab of cake and on middle size square of cake. The cafe is very busy and being run by young people who as efficient as they seem are very forgetful and not as attentive as I’d expect when paying premium prices. I ordered a quiche and after 40 mins asked where it was only to be told by the young man he had forgotten it as it was so busy ! So basically it was sat on the side and at £13.00 I end up with my quiche in a take away box as everyone had finished. Such a shame lovely grounds sloppy service and maybe a look at what is actually served on an afternoon tea may help in the future.

I passed by this cafe yesterday, and stopped by for a cup of tea- the staff were friendly and helpful, service was prompt & pleasant. Could not have been more different today… rude abrasive staff, seriously not interested in their customers. Items almost hurled onto the tables- to the point that I have almost pushed my opened can of soft drink back at the waitress & walked out. If the welcome you get on arrival is halfhearted, I’d cut & run. You’ll be better off heading to Pret a Manger!!

Lovely place, sunny afternoon & a lovely cream tea with cakes and sandwiches. Plenty to choose from and nice and fresh. The staff were polite and accommodating. The lady on the next table even allowed us to listen in to an ‘interesting’ and loud motorbike holiday video she was playing to her friend on her phone, 🤬😡🤬🤬😡 A welcome addition to the ambience of this peaceful setting. 🙁 Anyway, a lovely experience and we shall be returning…

A little gem, within the confines of the cathedral.. You would bet unlikely to stumble upon it, so seek it out. Probably the best cooked breakfast I’ve had, and I’ve stayed at many hotels.. The items were beautifully cooked and on a hot plate (a big tick box with me). It’s located in the corner of the Cathedral yard and as I wrote, you would be unlikely to stumble upon it. I found it through Tripadvisor and I’m f glad I tracked it down. Has a range from simply tex through cakes all the way up to a Full English (see photo). Superb.

Absolutely dreadful! Advertised a la carte menu replaced with a 'bar' menu. Took the waiter 15 minutes to bring a menu and ask if we'd like drinks 40 minutes for food to arrive which was not hot. The pork belly my colleague had was wrapped in gooey fat not crackling, the pumpkin sauce was a teaspoon of orange 'something' and the seasonal veg was mashed potato and some peas. The chicken burger was deep fried and tasted of old fryer fat as did the 'tepid' skin in chips. Presentation of the burger was non existent and the two tiny leaves of lettuce were brown. This was fed back to the waiter when he finally returned to our table his response was he'd mention it to the Chef. The after dinner treat of sticky toffee pudding was solid and rubbery, not moist. The tiniest bit of ice cream and a token gesture at the sauce all was tepid. The dining room was cold and drafty. The decor tired and wall paper peeling off the ceiling and walls. Utterly awful experience with nobody interested in the overall shoddiness of the service and food. Really disappointing, especially as this is the closest hotel to work. A real missed opportunity for this Hotel and Restaurant.
