Rico's Coffee Shop in Peterborough

This was poor! The service did not listen to the order we told them how many shots we wanted it the coffee but they put more we asked for a tuna mayo salad in a baguette there was one cucumber and one tomato on the side!! They gave us the wrong bread when we asked for brown toast and gave us one mini jam even the cup was smelly!! The service was bad but the food was worse!

whenever I come to Peterborough from Doncaster (which is quite frequently) I come to Rico’s either just for drinks or to eat as well. I have always found the staff to be pleasant, hard working and very polite. The establishment is clean and the food cooked to order. I have read some previous reviews and feel they have to be taken with a pinch of salt. Keep up the good work and the excellent customer service.

jacket potato was proper dry, they offered a breakfast small or large, got the small one but it should’ve been called xxs they gave literally one sausage one egg one bacon and some beans

Only my second visit. This time we had lunch. The Cafe was very clean, nice welcoming atmosphere, we had a great waitress, Extremely polite, knowledgable and very friendly. She had other tables but never failed to keep a check on how lunch was going.

Lovely friendly staff, who handle any difficult situation positively and politely. I always pop in for a takeaway coffee at lunch. Quick service and lovely coffee. Love the fact that oat and soya milk doesn't cost extra.

My wife and I were in Peterborough for a day trip over from Leicester and were looking for somewhere to have lunch when we happened upon this eatery whilst wandering through the Rivergate Shopping Centre. It looked very clean and welcoming, so we though that we’d give it a try. The staff were friendly, the service was first-class and the food was cheap and very good value for the money, so just a great choice of somewhere to have lunch. I would definitely recommend this eatery.

I think it the best cafe in peterborough is clean and the staff are very friendly and the food is always hot and it value for the money and I would recommend it to anyone

The whole place is really dated, including the food. It isn’t bad, and is a good price, but it really needs work to reflect modern standards and tastes. The cheese in a cheese sandwich was very strange- almost like a paste

This place is great value for money The food was really nice we both had soup to start came with nice fresh baguette followed by home made steak pie chips and peas Nicely cooked and very tasty Coffee was really good really tasted like coffee should Staff very friendly. l also noticed there breakfast which was so cheap don't know how they could do it at the price if I lived nearer would go every morning Definitely recommend this place

Ordered lunch. Cheeseburger and chips and pot of tea. Man with personality of a dead fish served me, took money then said to a girl prepare salad for burger. She went behind the counter and immediately prepped salad WITHOUT WASHING HER HANDS . I challenged it and man said she said just took bags out the back , er what rubbish bags ? And asked her to wash her hands . Delightful . Food came up . Burger was repulsive , poor quality with grated cheese slammed in bun . Chips undercooked . Tomato sauce low grade . A very unpleasant lunch Enter at your own risk. How it gets passed the hygiene officers beggars belief

13 Jan / 14:45. Guy at counter severely lacking customer service skills, perhaps in need of some training. Ordered a coffee and a baguette and then changed my mind about the baguette where I ordered the burger meal instead. He asked me if I wanted any sauces, I didn’t really hear what he said, and before I had a chance to respond (like he didn’t give me two secs!) he ran off to make the coffee. He was clearly in a rush even though there were only five people in the restaurant, and then didn’t bother to produce the ketchup where I then had to ask for it. The burger… yea I mean it was palatable. As I say, when a paying customer comes into the business, you’re there to do a job. Do it properly. If you don’t want to be in the hospitality business, find another job.

Disgusting food and badly cooked. My first time and most definitely my last. I simply cannot recommend this place.

Yet another excellent breakfast before I go back to Doncaster. On this cold, wet and windy morning we were greeted with a smile and nothing was too much trouble. This venue deserves to do well.

The breakfast was smaller then the kids meal, never have i been so appalled and embarrassed to get my food, the tomato was rotting from the inside out and i’m surprised i made it out alive.

Excellent service and food. I cannot fault the service we received this morning when we went for the early bird breakfast. The gentleman serving was very polite and the breakfast didn’t take long to arrive although it was cooked to order. The breakfast was delicious and excellent value for money. I would most certainly recommend this cafe and will be visiting again.

This cafe is inside Rivergate arcade, there are seats inside and outside, we had a lovely pot of tea and also Teacakes, staff were very friendly and polite although we didn't have a meal, they did look good what we saw served, lovely atmosphere reasonable prices as well

The person that served us, seemed harrassed, yet there was only a few people in. The moment I spotted the server picking up the slices of ham with his bare hands, and putting them on a plate, I was concerned. As he had just been wiping down surfaces with a dishcloth, and did not wash his hands. Not very hygenic !!!!! we will not be returning.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. Great friendly staff. Lovely fattening. Highly recommended. Top class.

The food was overpriced, bland and not of the best quality. Cold drink glasses were hotter than the chips. Lasagne was microwaved to death, the salad was a poor excuse and the scampi and chips were luke warm

Looking for a coffee pre match and was recommended here Great little cafe, offering excellent value for money. Service was excellent.

What a surprise today to rediscover Ricos . Great friendly service and great food at such reasonable prices . Oredered all day breakfast with toast and lattes and was so quick and was perfect . Really is a gem and will be our go to for lunch in future .

This quaint coffee shop is a hidden gem hidden inside Rivergate shopping arcade. River arcade seems like quite an old building, so is a pleasure to step into & admire its archaeological merits anyway. We walked in & were looking at the menu where we rescued by the manager as we were debating whether to walk on by. I am glad that we didn't as we ordered a vegetarian big breakfast, carrot cake and tea. When they say big they mean it. 3 eggs, 3 hash browns, steamed tomatoes, beans and toast. All for under a tenner! Quick (breakfast arrived within 5-10mins) value for money service and wonderful courteous, staff. What is there not to just love about this place?

This has become our "go to" for a spot of lunch when we pop into town, after initiallly just planning to look at the menu we keep going back. Very friendly staff and welcoming.

Stopped by for a spot of lunch as having visited the city many times before we had never actually tried this place. We are glad we did and will definitely be going back. The staff were all fantastic, particularly the gentleman behind the counter. Very friendly and helpful and was the same with every other customer who walked through the doors. In this fast and crazy world nice manners and good service go a long way. A lot of other places could learn from this guy! The food was good, honest and tasty and the prices reasonable. Will definitely be heading back.

Son & I wanted an all day breakfast at lunchtime. Found Rico’s (not from area). Friendly staff took order. Desired table COVID-19 cleaned. Sat down. Within 5 minutes a hearty plate of cooked breakfast arrived. Superb service. A gem of a find.

The owner of this cafe is extremely rude. He shouted at us and gritted his teeth simply because we asked if the bacon had been cooked well. Will never go here again. The food is terrible anyway and the place urgently needs redecoration. Awful !

I went here at the weekend before going to the football; the queue for the counter was a bit intimidating, but the staff were friendly, and food was brought out quickly. It wasn't exactly anything special, but it was pleasantly cheap - I'd definitely go again.

Been here on at least three occasions now before going to watch Peterborough United play. Friendly cafe with very efficient staff and wide range of items availabe, including the obligatory all day breeakfast. Very reasonabe prices and always very clean.

We are regular customers of Rico's and always enjoy the food. Unfortunately today we did have an issue with part of the meal and pointed it out to a member of staff, it was dealt with very quickly, politely and professionally, the meal was replaced and a refund and apologies given, we then continued with our meals which we both enjoyed and will return again soon.

Wife & I, visitors to Peterborough for the day and found this café.Advertised Sunday lunch and thought OK will have a bit of that.What a joke, service was OK but the meal - meat (Beef) X 3 tissue thin (almost see daylight through them) - approx 2 square inches in size, Roast potatoes over cooked & one burnt, greens acceptable and you have to pay before you see the below value - below standard meal. Value for money NO.Certainly not impressed and will never go there again. Certainly not recommended.

We had a breakfast , the bacon was cremated the sausage tasted like soya, it just wouldn't break the bank to get sausages that taste nice, the tables are set for 4 people but 2 people fill the table, could do with a makeover and a decent chef

Breakfast consisted of 2 bacon, 2 saus, 2 eggs beans and toms + 2 rounds of buttered toast and as before noon only cost £3-95.

I visited 7th February, I queued patiently while the employee served a couple in front of me. When it came to my turn to be served the employee ignored me and served someone else. This was not only rude but very unprofessional.Later that day I did receive an apology from the manager, however, I felt it was too little too late. I will not be visiting this place again, and do not recommend it.

No frills eatery, serving sandwiches, jacket potatoes, soup, all day breakfast. Very good value for money. Quick service, all food freshly made. Cheery staff.

We found this cafe by accident walking through the arcade & we decided to stop for lunch. The food is very reasonably priced, the staff were all great & the food was delicious. What more could you want!

I am struggling to understand the people who moan about the quality of the food. You get what you paid for. Expecting to get the Michellen-starred quality food for Iceland price. We had a very tasty breakfast today, thank you very much.

The waiter taking our order was patient with my elderly mother - in - law and took our order with a smile. The food all came out in a realistic time and was hot and tasty. The coffee shop was clean and comfortable. The waitress serving us came back to check everything was alright and when we left the staff said goodbye. We were made to feel welcome.

Good quick friendly service excellent home made tasty foods available good beverages quite reasonably priced too! I would recommend you find Rico's if you don't like high street chain dinning.

Popped into this small family run type coffee shop while out with mum. What a nice place. It's intimate and friendly with reasonable prices and good size portions. Mum had lasagne, I had scampi. Both were excellent. The staff were friendly, and actually quite fun! Mum was opening sweets when food came, and the server was lovely, joking that she wouldn't let mum have sweets until she ate all her dinner-which is exactly what I had told her!! Lovely atmosphere and great food. Not actually what I expected. I thought it would be more like a corporate feed and bye place. Love this place. Will absolutely be coming again.

Very refreshing going to a 'non' chain coffee shop serving an excellent cappuccino served by friendly staff. Great menu choice too and very reasonable prices! Will definitely go again.

Popped into Ricos for my breakfast yesterday and got the big breakfast which included 2 sausages, 2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, tomato and 2 pieces of toast with various confitures. Worth every penny at £5.70 and must say it was the best breakfast I remember having in a long time and will certainly be going back again. Staff were friendly, helpful and thorough even though the shop was busy.

My first time ratings a rico's and got the traditional breakfast at an early bird price of £3.95! Food was delicious and staff were very friendly. Lovely cafe, very clean and a vast array of food and drinks! I will be coming back again:)

Waw must say worst breakfast ever 1 sausage 1 egg 1 few beans 1egg and 1 bacon. All was tasteless and vile sausage been re heated in microwave not worth the £4.50 at all avoid people!!!!!!!!

Had a breakfast the beans were dry had been in microwave to long,tomatoes tasted of tin, the sausage and bacon cold and for the toast it was warm bread absolutely disgusting no wonder other restaurant in arcade is so busy

We were impressed with the quality of food and service. Cafe has a nice ambiance and will visit again next time we are in Peterborough.

Popped in here for a pit-stop with the family, and, on a whim, decided to have a piece of the delicious-looking apple pie. Unfortunately there was no cream, so I opted for custard, and went to sit down with the kids while my wife paid. When she joined us she said the pie wasn't ready, and we soon deduced they must have been heating it up. I don't like hot apple pie so went to the counter and asked or a cold piece. I soon found out why they were heating it up - the bit I got was still frozen in the middle! Not terribly pleasant, and tinned custard at a guess.

Popped in here for a latte,pot of tea and teacake,service very quick and efficient and would defiantly visit when back in Peterborough .

been here several times and never been dissappointed menu has a great choice of food & drinks everything is cooked to perfection staff are very pleasant service is top notch when visiting area again we will be back in keep up the good work

Pleasant enough cafe but absolutely no gluten free sweet options, even the chocolate bars were biscuit based.

It was a delight on a day trip to Peterborough, to discover an independent cafe just when we needed some lunch! The menu is extensive and the food was plentiful. Never before have I purchsed quite so much lunch for two people for £10 including hot drinks. We were stuffed , but I could see that the hot puddings were very popular too! Grandparents with granchildren new the ropes. Have a small mains and leave room for oudding! The staff were lovely and the atmosphere friendly.

breakfast was megre not enough for a child... a TRADITIONAL breakfast was 1 bacon 1 sauasage, egg. tinned tomatoes and beans, no mushrooms, no hash browns or black pudding. the milk for the tea (cost extra) was uht.. yuk at over a fiver will not be going there again..

It is a shame I can't rate this cafe as 'Good' but this is not not a rating on Tripadvisor. Very friendly and quick service given. There seemed to be a good range of food on the menu and the coffee was fine. A good cafe which was certainly very welcome after a long day in Peterborough.

Was working locally and went in here a few times for coffee. By our second visit we were treated as regulars with a cheery 'hello'. It's cheap but the quality of the cappuccinos was good, and the meals on offer (basic food) looked good and plentiful. There were plenty of local pensioners and local policemen which is usually a good sign of quality and value.

My partner and I regularly pop in for a hot drink and snack, love the tea cakes which have a nice spicey taste and are always hot so the butter melts into them.you can have alternative to butter.

Great for lunch, their toasted sandwiches are lovely! The staff are friendly, and the service is quick.

Found this little coffee shop in the Rivergate Shopping Centre after running the Perkins Great Eastern Run. Nice atmosphere and plenty of seating. Coffee great, cake great too. They offered a full menu too.

My first visit to this coffee shop. Had the small breakfast. Well cooked. Staff grate. Well worth the charge.

I visit Rico's once a week for a belly buster breakfast (Served all day ), . . . . .been doing this for several years, so must be good . . . .great staff, and many other options , with less cholesterol .. . lol........highly recommended

I stopped in to Rico's while we were shopping in the Rivergate Centre. The shop is relatively large, and tastefully decorated. There is plenty of seating, and the service was courteous. The selection of cakes and biscuits was reasonable, and the atmosphere made it a nice place for a break. It is worth a stop in if shopping in the area.
