Rhodri’s by the Lake in Cardiff

We thoroughly enjoyed lunch today, both main course and dessert were delicious.... thank you to the chef! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming.

What a fantastic day 💖 I had my baby shower today and everything was amazing ! Afternoon tea was beautiful and the staff were brilliant all day 💖 looked after us and it was a pleasure 🙌🏼 Everyone commented on the afternoon tea and for the price for tea very good value 💖

We went as a family group to celebrate a 70th birthday I cannot recommend this venue highly enough The setting is beautiful and we were lucky enough to go on a very warm evening we sat outside for drinks and the view is stunning then went in for food which we pre ordered the table was laid beautifully the young man who served us was polite patient and charming The food is first class and the service was prompt but not rushed The staff are exceptional nothing is too much trouble We all commented how good service and food was ( usually with a big group someone not happy ) but everyone was It’s great value for money and would definitely recommend and return

I can not recommend Rhodries enough! The food is always delicious! And that is matched with the amazing service! Jess and her team do a fantastic job of not only making you so welcome! But also ensuring the standard of food is perfect! For us it’s a perfect go to and just around the corner.. 🥰

The location of Rhodri's is fabulous and my son and I had a delicious meal on Saturday night. Unfortunately the sun was not shining for us to have the opportunity to sit outside but the food really was fantastic, crispy duck salad and Thai Green Chicken curry was the order and it did not disappoint. The staff are very friendly, Jess went out of her way to make us feel welcome as did the young man who was amazing and I am really sorry I did not catch your name to give you the acknowledgement you deserve! We are so lucky to have this on our doorstep and I hope it receives the support from the surrounding areas as well as from afar. Thank you for a lovely night and delicious food.

Beautiful venue and location overlooking the lake. Went for dinner with my mum and a friend. The food was delicious, the chef was very accommodating with my vegetarian pasta dish which was just delicious. My friend loved the chicken burger and my mum loved the fish and chips. The portions were generous and the price really competitive. I have to mention the staff too who were absolutely lovely and attentive and did not rush us to leave. We also enjoyed watching the local wildlife which was an added bonus. Will definitely return. Gutted we are away next week for their curry night, however we were very pleased to hear this is going to become a regular evening at Rhodri’s.

To celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary, we have come back to Canada Lakes and dined at Rhodri’s to celebrate. The staff were amazing and would like to specially mention Georgina and Morgan who were amazing, professional and made our afternoon.

Had our wedding breakfast here the morning after our wedding and we was greeted by probably the most rudest woman I’ve come across. She was rude to all our guests, myself and husband and shouted at my nephew, who’s 9 because he asked for more juice. We could see the juice in the fridge but she refused to bring more out for the children, so one of my bridesmaids went back to the room to grab them all a drink. On arrival we asked to sit outside to which she said “well I won’t be taking your order out there” They didn’t have enough breakfast to cater for all our guests even though they knew how many were going to be there and no refund was offered. Admittedly, we all have bad days but her customer service really was shocking. I’ve worked as a waitress before and even on my bad days I wouldn’t dare speak to anyone how she did. We won’t be returning.

Lovely location, service sadly mediocre, serving staff had little or no knowledge and it did seem we where invisible for a while, would I go back?, probably not. The menu was very basic but was due for an imminent revamp apparently.

Setting out of this world staff are so friendly 2 ladies made us feel so welcome ! Food was 5* no complaints will become My new local even just for a drink

A lovely evening with great food and efficient, friendly service. We are a regular wedding supplier at Canada Lodge, we have eaten breakfast and lunch at Rhodris previously, and had a sleepover in one of their gorgeous apartments. So, we knew it would be a great experience to have dinner at their newly opened evening restaurant. We really enjoyed. All courses were delicious with a special mention for the chips! Chips are a big thing for me. It's so disappointing when you go out to eat and get frozen chips! These were home cooked and delicious. We shall be back. Highly recommended by us!

Beautiful location: service & food didn’t match Wow factor of location dissolved over time. Service was ok ( felt sorry for server as she seemed to be the only staff member on duty) They got our order wrong plus the menu was pretty average. Simple changes and introduction of fresh local produce ( not ‘chips with everything’ which they ran out of) would make all the difference. 5 star location 2-3 star food offering ( coffee was fine) Such a shame.. Plus better signage from main road & main car park ( nr narrow lane down to Rhodri’s) would help customers - plus get you noticed. Location is a hidden gem. I might go back for a coffee but would think twice about a meal..

Visited with some family members for a Sunday lunch. We all opted to have 2 courses, and all went for mains and desserts. One party member had pork belly, and another steak- the portions were very big! The other two had chicken, and all meals came with potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. The waitress also brought us over some seasonal vegetables. The food was really tasty- the roasties were lovely and cooked so well! The whole meal was faultless. For dessert I had the chocolate torte and it was amazing- really rich and chocolately with cream to accompany it! The sticky toffee pudding was ok, and so was the sorbet. The fire was on so a lovely cosy atmosphere in there.

My husband and I wanted to have a late lunch as we finish work at 2pm on Fridays. We decided to give Rhodri's by the Lake a try. I checked the website to make sure that they were open. I could see that they closed at 4.30pm and that tables could be booked online up to 3.15pm. We arrived at 3pm and were told that no food is served after 3pm as the cook leaves at that time. The girl who spoke to us was unapologetic and extremely unhelpful. I suggested that this information needs to be made available on their website to save people a wasted journey. She eventually said that she would pass this suggestion on. Uninspiring choice of food on the menu so definitely won't be returning to Rhodri's by the Lake.

We have eaten here quite a few times over the years and have enjoyed the setting, the service and the food. However we tried our first Sunday lunch here recently and sorry to say that it proved very disappointing. I ordered the belly pork which unfortunately I could not even cut let alone chew. The staff were extremely helpful when this was reported to them and offered to replace it with something else. I asked for what ever was quickest as the rest of my party were already eating. A roast beef meal arrived but unfortunately that meat was rather chewy too. This resulted in all four of us taking over half of our beef home for the dog! The member of staff did give us 10% off the food bill, equating to £2.50 each but it just seemed such a disappointment when we have enjoyed some good food here in the past. The chicken tika masala the week before was gorgeous, plus the chips are scrumptious.
