Costa Coffee - Queen Street in Cardiff

I recently visited Costa and tried their maple hot chocolate and salted caramel frappe. While the hot chocolate was absolutely delicious, I was a bit disappointed with the frappe. It didn't quite live up to the expectations set by the hot chocolate. However, the atmosphere and service were still excellent. I'd definitely return to try other items on their menu

Given wrong drink girl not listening when taken order to busy chatting behind counter toilets really not acceptable for this size cafe one dirty toilet down dingy stairs disabled out of use I would give this Costa a miss in future as plenty of more pleasant coffee bars close by

I love drinking piping hot coffee, and Costa Coffee serves the perfect hot coffee! Tried white hot chocolate for the first time and I loved it. It was the right amount of sweet and they even provided extra milk. I topped it with some marshmallows and chocolate flake and it tasted amazing. Unfortunately they ran out of maple syrup, so we couldn't order Maple Hazel Latte. So we ended up ordering Hazelnut coffee which was good too.

Lovely unit, presentable at counter, and clean, polite staff, and helpful, slight issues with the state of disabled toilets, were not cleaned and maintained, tho was on same service level as toilets, some staff found to be on phones, Shame really, other then that nice little unit, could be better with changes put in place 👍🏽

Lovely sausage bap and stunning caramel frappe. Napkins in my bag but no straw for the drink which would have been nice. Overall happy with my order 😄

I received very bad treatment from one of the workers in the café. It was not good at all and disrespectful.

The person in charge of the coffee was not polite at all, and I did not receive good or disrespectful treatment

Delivery driver was very helpful and polite.

Security guard with glasses is a pure nonce, multiple occasions I’ve witnessed him staring at women and kids then when the women would turn around he would look away! Very shameful behaviour as a representative for Costa coffee. How he still has a job I’ll never know

I missed my bus because the lady on the cashier takes 25 min to process payment transactions and the staff are extremely slow especially in the morning. This was my first time visiting this branch and I regret it. The staff needs more training especially morning shift!

I already love Costa but this one really has to be my favourite! Absolutely lovely staff who even checked if the gingerbread was vegan (unfortunately not) without me asking. Definitely first-class customer service!

Awful. Security Guard walks around watching people as they drink there coffee. Not the place to go for a relaxing coffee

Very rude staff. Everyone waiting outside and no one even cared to open the door and serve people. The time displayed on the door is 7AM and the rude ladies inside of the coffee shop replied that we open at 8AM. Update your time so we don't have to wait for you to do your job. At least that. Tasteless coffee and cheese toastie probably made of toffee it was so chewy and also pretty tasteless. Although they serve M&S food, there is a limited range to the point of not worth going in there because they run out often. Only M&S best range I have found was a sausage roll, which was excellent. The rest of the offerings are hardly inspiring. Complete lack of imagination on food. Mainly the same as every other coffee outlet. Many better ones out there. I can make a better one.

Went out for a date with my first love for the first time , absolutely beautiful scenery and atmosphere , the table is small enough bonding but not too small for drawing and sketching , this place will be in my memory forever

Me and a few friends popped in for drinks, on a Sunday at 4.30pm.Not a welcome smile from any staff. We said we was sitting in,but given takeaway cups(glad now they did).the hot chocolates that we had tasted like out of a vending machine it ,best part was the cream ontop. The glass that the marshmallows came in was absolutely stinking, terrible price we paid for the product and the service we had, thought I had the attention of one member of staff, he only came to say we had 20 minutes left. At that stage we all left. Don't think I will ever visit again, or recommend

Great coffee and customer service.

Often go to this Costa in Queen St Cardiff. It is very popular so sometimes its difficult to get a seat at certain times. From spring to autumn there is seating outside which helps a lot. A good range of hot and cold drinks and also food, sandwiches, hot or cold and a great range of biscuits, cakes and pastries.

The toilets were disgusting and no one knew where the toilet paper was kept

Latte was perfect as was the cake.. definitely go again 😀

Air conditioning causing cold draft at some tables. People were seen to move to avoid.

Lovely staff, regardless how busy they was, they stayed calm and service was quick and efficient.

I think Costa HQ needs to review this place. I usually try to find something positive to say about everything. Employees have bad days, I have bad days so the reviews can be influenced by a “moment in time”. But when the chain (Costa) has a perfectly good product and one of their franchises is making it inferior, and their overall reviews are dropping, perhaps it is time to point out a weak link. Thirty some years ago when coffee was instant and lovingly referred to by visitors as “dishwater” they ordered tea to get their caffeine fix…..a couple of Italian guys opened a shop and we found out how real coffee tastes. Costa coffee became a success and has maintained their quality since. My latte this morning came with a dishwater taste (if you have ever experienced it, you will never forget it) no froth and was lukewarm. There are other coffee shops in the neighbourhood .. even another Costa a few blocks away…

Lovely Costa. Super busy, obviously, but the staff were calm, quick and friendly.

This place is going downhill. The quality, hygiene, and staff are awful. The staff are lazy, laidback and provide very slow service. My drink took 20 minutes to make and my friends and the people waiting for their drinks we’re very frustrated . The place is dirty and staff are not organised and have no time management. Tables are dirty and toilets are disgusting. Staff aren’t professional in making the drinks and look like they’re at work to talk with friends. I’ve been hearing from many friends that this Costa has not been meeting the high standards however I said I’ll give it a chance , and let me tell you it will be the last time I go to this Costa I recommend you all to go to the Costa near Tkmaxx which has excellent service and staff and not disappointing at all

Generally dirty. Empty cups and plates everywhere. Toilet had no soap. Hand sanitiser had run out. Poor staff seemed rushed off their feet.

New outside area set up not ideal to making the propose of it. All new tables which is great but they are setup against the side window. One customer blocks the whole table of 4 !! Outside area is quite big but need to be utilised efficiently. Pointed out this issue and was told that what the head office instructed them to do !! Not practical !

Shame a barista can't make a proper latte

We ordered two large cappuccinos to drink at the shop and were refused coffee mugs and offered paper cups instead, even though clean coffee cups were stacked in ample supply and previous customers had been given their drinks in cups. We were told that “there are not enough staff to clean the cups” even though at least three staff were on duty. We interpreted this as highly discriminatory, anti-customer service and clearly laziness on the part of staff. We left without completing our order.

Expected top class drink but was just average for the price. Had hot chocolate, may be it's not Costa's speciality. Hot chocolate was somehow was little too much sweeter than expected. Coffee might be good I believe, will try next time. Ambiance was good, easy reach. Good Staff.

I really can't believe how dirty it is inside an for the toilet well that's another story it is disgusting 🤮🤢 .Please ask your staff to clean before people com in first thing in the morning

Good staff but the place desperatly needs a revamp it looks rundown

Staff were not very welcoming, they looked like they all wanted to be somewhere else. It wasn't a great experience. Other visits have been good, but as soon as its a little busy, I always seem to have a bad coffee as its rushed

Worst Costa iv been too. Drinks were good but the place needs a good face lift ... Toilets didn't work and believe any dine in place should have access to a loo. For example there was a very pregnant lady looking for the loo. There was only one but it was out of service and she was told she had to go to M&S ... abit of a request for a pregnant lady.

Don't you take coffee? Come along

Called in for a break from busy shops had a hot chocolate asked for it extra hot and they delivered it was lovely

Staff very distracted by the visit of a friend, literally all at one point over chatting with them, no one attending to the orders already put in, or the people in the queue. So distracted that when they trickled back their service was random and not in the order of the queue. Products eventually served were adequate, manager tried to diffuse and smooth out situation but did not return to this location for the rest of the visit.

Really bust when we called in but the staff we so happy polite and friendly . They kept the tables clean to.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and, of course, great coffee! Wheelchair friendly, and rest rooms on site. Highly recommended!

Always look forward to the costa christmas drinks coming in! This year thought I would try the new 'Toffee penny latte' very sweet but still enjoyed! Staff friendly and welcoming, will definitely be returning🙂

Excellent coffee, superb service.

Plenty of staff, but I don't think they knew what they were doing at all. They need to spend less time staring into space and more time taking orders and making coffee. By the time we were served we didn't have time for coffee so we just got some cakes to go. Very disappointing.

It was OK. Fairly early and quiet. Staff were polite. The place is in need of redecoration but otherwise it did the job.

Costa coffee Queen St, Cardiff.. won't be going back to this particular one, sat at one table but moved because of all the marks on table.second table was no better..daughter brought back tea, capacino plus cake. Cup was dirty two forks were dirty too..table next to us was empty with dirty cups and tray on for some time. New customer came in and had to move stuff from table before sitting down..once she done that an assistant came over and asked if she wanted her table cleaned
