It was a lunchtime, and food could be a little hotter, and there was a child's portion of chips, which is poor. It is supposed to be a meal. I should not need to buy an extra portion as was offered. The food was okay but nothing special.

Very pleasant visit. Quiet when we visited. Service was quick and all staff were friendly. Table service was great. Alex was our server and she was attentive and polite.

First time visiting in a long time and was so looking forward to our beef dinners, then after having had our starters and waiting a long time ( which we didn’t mind as it was quite busy ) we saw someone go to a table nearby and offer them a refund or extra food, I didn’t hear what for but they had their food and a refund, I soon learnt what for as a waitress came to us and said no roasties left and did we want extra whatever. But we were not offered a refund. Not really good customer service to give one group and not another. And also someone who ordered after us had a dinner with roasties. Pretty disappointing overall.

Customer service and food were excellent, great value for money.

Everything was going so well until my steak was over cooked not once but twice I didn't want to give you a 3rd opportunity to over cook it again so I had a refund.

Oldie type of place with a fireplace in one area of the pub. Veggie choices are very limited. Staff friendly. Parking; some spaces on the flat - other spaces up a slop then onto another flat area; Walking from this part of the car park can be difficult for those with walking issues. Leading into the pub, the paving slabs are uneven. Sometime ago, I tripped over them. I reported this to the staff; however at the time of writing this (2024), nothing been done to resolve the uneven slabs. Entrance might be difficult for those in a wheelchair/using a pram. Outside tables and chairs. Play area for the kids but keep an eye on the little ones as there's a main road next to the play area. UPDATE: 04.04.24, still VERY little vegetarian food. Was told the menu won't change until later this year. Won't be returning until more vegetarian food is on offer. UPDATE: 10.01.25: returned to see if the menu had changed. It had: even less vegetarian food on offer. The food in general had gone down hill - all the 5 meals we had, were below average. On the plus side, the staff is still friendly. But, we will not be returning. Shame because years ago we visited regularly.

Good food in a lovely atmosphere...booked online for 7 people on a Sunday a few hours before our arrival...we asked to change our table when we arrived which was no problem for them...I ordered at the bar but didn't give them the full order (my mistake)...some meals arrived and they must have realised some of us didn't have food and checked with us...realising my mistake they sorted it out with the kitchen straight away and the food came shortly after...so great service...very polite and efficient service...very happy...thank you to all the staff...will definitely be there again

Been here so many times only to be disappointed if it wasn’t walking distance from my house I wouldn’t bother. Burnt food, wrong orders, no condiments, ages for food to arrive all round crap, crap crap wish Mrs Hammerton would teach new team a thing or two.

Just come here for our work Christmas meal and drink. The staff were super friendly, the music was not loud and the food was phenomenal! Hats off to you chef. Only thing was we wanted a few snacky bits after the drinks but the kitchen was just closed at 9pm. Overall worth the visit :)

4 of us went here for meal,got told it was table service lady came over to take our drink order, them dumped the tray on end of table and left, someone else came back to take our food order waited 1hour 20 minute for our food to come,had to go to bar for a drink and got told it was table servies nobody to be seen, food wasn't that great so shell not be calling back.

Appalling. Agreed to meet friends for a boxing day drink website that says closes at 11. Turns up at 7, then a few hours later, the last orders are then 9, thrown out at 9:30. Excuse not busy this evening but have been busy in the day. Made their targets so off you go. 🍒 cherry picking me thinks. Easy money is not community focused. It's disappointing for a place we regularly support. Posting again because response was a standard simple AI reply.

Wow where do I start mate, what a place to be, great hospitality the food was exquisite, made with so much love and care, thank you Luci and her wonderful staff for making me feel so welcome, toilets were clean I done 3 trips to the toilet as I was getting on it with the Stella’s and not once I seen anyone getting up to some dodgy stuff, chefs are friendly didn’t catch his name but the one that listens to rammstein fp what a guy and the other one who’s a big blue birds supporter Cardiff is massive, service from the lovely Ray was so professional yh to be fair I’ve said to much here but I could say more but I need to feed the dogs so yh get down to the Ty-Nant Inn the best place in the world no joke why am I still going okay bye guys Merry Christmas and Happy New Year hope to see you down there soon

Just Back from Christmas Day Lunch which was absolutley appalling!!! I have never had such a awful meal in my life talk about disappointed They bought out starters which I can only say were passable,but as soon as we finished we were then five minutes later brought our sweet,when we laughed and said we had not yet received our main meal the girl laughed and walked away,we then waited a hr and fifteen minutes to finally get it Everything was under cooked the roast potatoes where hard in middle,the pigs in blankets under cooked colourless and raw in the middle and on top of our £68 they charged a extra £6.99 for them Parsnips were hard like bits of bards the rest of veg just soggy and over cooked I think as we were the last sitting of the day and were also lost somewhere in the system They had to throw us a meal together or if not that’s what it really felt like.we were not asked once if we needed anything or if everything was ok it really was just thrown at us 😡 I did complain and the person who seemed to be in charged said she would take the cost of drinks off the bill….But Considering that the meal cost us £442.00 I think we had raw deal.It really did spoil our day First time out for Christmas lunch and will be the last if this is the service and quality to expect 😡😡😡

We were 7 people and a baby, and we'd pre-ordered the Christmas menu. The food was good, honest pub grub, and the staff were all fantastic, really friendly, and very accommodating. I even forgot that I'd paid a deposit on the booking, which wasn't reflected on the bill so initially paid more than I should have, only for the staff to come back and tell me they owed me money - very appreciated!

This pub is the best, after you bought something in Pugh Christmas Market. We even did our exchange gift inside.❤️❤️ Definitely recommend it. 10/10

Excellent customer service and food was cooked to perfection

Unfortunately this experience at the Tŷ Nant was particularly disappointing - we had booked the Festive Menu online and had not received an email for us to pre-order our choices, as we had done 2 years ago, thinking it was odd I rang the pub 3 times in the 24hrs before our booking - no response. We went to the pub assuming that it had changed in the 2 years since our last Christmas visit. Upon arriving we were given a festive walk-in menu, upon questioning this I was directed to the manager who said that I should have been sent an email; after explaining that I had not she smugly went to check her system - on which it confirmed that no e-mail was sent. Leaves us with only the option of the Festive Walk-In menu (which has no Vegetarian options and is really bare) or the normal Menu - having booked Festive Menu and having paid a deposit this was really disappointing. Upon then going to the bar to pay, I politely expressed my disappointment and asked if there would be any compensation for the mess-up on behalf of the pub; the manager was reluctant to help and at times rude. When I told her about the lack of Vegetarian options on the festive menu she said I can “take it up with Head Office”. Overall, I am really disappointed with my experience and we will not be returning.

My wife and I visited to have a Christmassy lunch, so we booked a Roast Turkey dinner and Christmas Pudding. The food was both tasty and hot. The service was excellent.

Ordered on the app. Worst experience ever. We ended up collecting the drinks ourselves as we were forgotten. Food was warm but not hot. Sausages were undercooked. Server laughed at my husband when he tried to tell him how disappointed we were. We wouldn't recommend this place.

Fantastic portions and all fresh and piping hot. We were a party of 20+ and the venue full but no complaints at all. Servers took it all in their stride x

Went here on the way home and couldn't be bothered to cook. Nothing to complain about other than we had to leave before the quiz night got under way.

We had a very large tabel booking. All the food came out together and was presented lovely and all came out hot. Portions were smaller than i thought but sll teasted lovely. Staff were all really nice and welcoming.

Absolutely awful food meat and veg microwaved, I could see them remove the cling film off the plates as they where have the doors painted at 6.45pm, cancelled desert. Kitchen Staff you should be ashamed have some pride in your work!!! Only good point where the FOH staff

Food arrived hot, I did have to chase up a side order but that was delivered ASAP. Staff helpful and friendly. Ordering has changed since last visit and table service now not available, however ordering at the bar works better anyway.

The pub was nice and warm, we had plenty of space for a group of 6 and the staff were friendly. The food was also delicious. The only negative comment I have if I was being critical was that some of the dining chairs were a bit stained / worn.

First and last time! order a mixed grill had the option of how I wanted it cooked why because I asked for medium rare came out well done like a rubber ball ,chicken and pork was dry and watery my daughter ordered hunters chicken , had no cheese and hardly any sauce they must microwave the hell out of the food so tasteless ,never again, only plus was the area and staff

Even though food tasted nice the portion size of my hunter’s chicken is absolutely shocking! For an adult meal I expected more. (I had already eaten a few chips) my brother ended up having the exact same thing as myself and his was a lot bigger than my tiny chicken. One family member had their soup and the rest of us had to wait and additional 15-20 minutes before the rest of us can have food! (Party of 9) other people were sitting down after we arrived and their food was coming out before us which was quite annoying. First time I’ve visited and I’m quite disappointed.

£10.25 for a 175ml glass of wine! £6.25 for a pint of Peroni! I can understand why the entire pub only had one guy sat in the corner at 10pm on a Saturday night. Avoid

Excellent experience. First time at the inn, we landed up famished! But past the dining hours.. however we were not to be kept that way, the management and the Cook, Derrick, ensured that we had a sumptuous meal! And a great one at that! Very warm and welcoming place. Definitely revisiting (during dining hours!!).

Called by for a quick lunch as we had our dog and they are dog friendly. Soup was cold, I ordered a jacket potato and when my order came they served me a baguette and chips which had chicken that was full of fat. Disappointed, hate leaving a bad review. Nobody came over to ask and we don't go out to complain.

We had a lovely time yesterday, the pub was clean and the food looked delicious! The lady on the front of house was excellent and ran a very tight ship, she was very pleasant and helpful and although the pub was busy she made an effort to be friendly, we were very impressed and will definitely return.

Came in with my family and we each had an excellent time. The food was delicious, I'm vegetarian and I had one of the best veggie burgers I’ve had in a long time! The food portions were big and well worth the money. But to top it off, the staff here were so friendly and accommodating it really made the experience. They served us with a smile, checked in on our food and made sure we had everything we needed. Do yourself a favour and get yourself down to Ty Nant Inn!
