Owain Glyndwr in Cardiff

Really nice pub, with enough tv’s for everyone to watch any sport you want.

If you're in Cardiff and need a break from shopping, the Owain Glyndwr bar is the perfect spot. This friendly pub serves up hearty, filling food that hits the spot. I tried the steak and ale pie, and it was delicious. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great place to unwind with a drink and some food. However, the toilets could use some TLC. All in all, the Owain Glyndwr is a fantastic choice for a casual meal and a refreshing drink in the heart of Cardiff.

Not bad, good laid back vibe and nice bartenders. Live music on Friday nights was a fun touch but definitely seems like more of a sports place.

Booked the owain again as we'd gone last year and was really good. Booked a table for 10 people at 1pm, waited at the bar and were ignored in favor of other patrons. There was a table reserved for us however only 8 seats in a crowded section, we were told to add a circular table at the end (on the diagonal). Our food took nearly an hour to come (where we were sat was busy the pub however was not) some bits overcooked and some cold! I ordered an all day breakfast and couldn't eat half of the plate tbh. We had to ask 3 times for a highchair. Halfway through eating, the bar server came to put another reserved notice on the table, reaching over us to do so. The reservation was for like 4pm! Just not impressed. Won't be returning.

A bit torn on this one. On the one hand... Very popular pub/bar ...perfect for sporting events... Screens everywhere and the fans are happy to come. On the other... We came on Sunday morning before the game... Seated at a nice table by the window. We tried to order food at 11:20 and were told that until 12 noon , only the breakfast specials were available (which I can understand). We waited until noon (with 2 more pints) and when we then tried to order... We were denied by saying that they were no longer serving food on the ground floor. By that time, the place was jam packed and there was no possibility to get a table on the 1st floor... We decided to leave (disappointed). I understand the difficulties of service during such a day (game day between Wales and France),... But I would strongly suggest you advertise the rules upfront than to change them at the last minute. I probably will come again... But this visit left me with a real sense of disappointment

A large pub with no less than 6 large screens showing sports all the time.... The cuisine is Welsh.... (Very good cuts of meat) Good selection of beer at a good price. Guaranteed atmosphere.

went out with my girlfriend for a drink, to which they were more expensive than we realised. the service was quick, however the workers weren’t very welcoming. the guy who took our order just placed the drinks down and stared at us without saying a word. however, the girl who was walking around with shots was extremely friendly. wasn’t nice having to walk up the stairs to the toilet and be greeted with sick on one of the steps. it wasn’t a busy night so it could have been cleaned, but the staff might not have been aware of it. didn’t try any food so cannot comment on that aspect

What a great pub near the heart of Cardiff's eating district. Extensive menu which seems reasonably priced - we opted for the 5*small dishes to share and were not hungry or disappointed. Easy going staff, comfortable seating and plenty of tables to choose from.

Went for a few drinks on a Tuesday night with four other people. Was quite quiet, as expected but the bar maid was not a happy bunny for some reason. Seemed like effort to serve us, no smile, not friendly. Shame as looked like it could be a nice little pub. So if you want service without a smile, this is the place for you.

Visited yesterday Feb 18th 2024 and sat upstairs...ordered food but our table was already full with dirty dishes and when the waitress arrived with our food I had to ask her to clear our table...this should not happen and should be done without asking. There was also a pile of dirty glasses from previous customers so I placed them all together to make it slightly easier for the waitress to take them and guess what she left them there...unbelievable!!!! Whilst we enjoyed our food the waitress service was very poor Would appreciate some feedback from management about this

Off duty staff will bully you off the pool tables and the good seats in the pubs.

A really great pub loads of locals were chatty nice friendly and very reasonably priced compared to other pubs in the area. The food was reasonable too. I will definitely look forwards to returning next time I'm in Cardiff.

I noticed they were having a kareoke night so decided to go along for a sing song. It seemed like the guy running the kareoke didn't really want me singing but luckily someone ele put their name down and I sang with them which was fun. Then I realised due to the bouncers informing me so that they sold coffee behind the bar and I thought I would treat myself. The young lady behind the bar stoot their waiting for paymet before starting to make the coffee so I politely pointed out that this is a bar and all the other customers are getting their drinks poured and ready before payment, that's how a bar works. She got very upset and complained to her manager. When the manager came over to tell me I needed to leave due to being rude to his member of staff I asked why, what did I say that was wrong? He couldn't tell me the answer and informed the doorstaff to remove me. I asked them why also and they too couldn't tell me but they are just following orders. However it wasn't an order to not let me go and get my stuff and to have 3 of them manhandle me out. I had to get a guy outside who I had chatted to earlier to go back in and get my stuff otherwise I was going to start punching people. Not a good experience. I experience this a lot when singing chareoke in pubs and I just have to put it down to jealousy and move on which I did.

Great spot for a night out thats not to much of a hassle, always enjoy my self here, the pub has great atmosphere and the staff are always great, ligia never fails to smile a smile on my face.

We were lucky to get a seat when we got in. Was a long wait for a drink at the bar but it was very busy so that's to be expected. Good atmosphere in there with it being the Friday before Christmas.

Nice pub but it's really quite overpriced for what it is you're easily looking at over £6 a pint for standard stuff and if you want something a bit more "exotic" then it's gonna be over 7. You can go to better places for less

Visited before a concert on a weekday for a pint and sharer style meal. All 3 platters were lovely and drinks good too. Service quick and no issues.

Always have gone in here for food but never again. Absolutely terrible food we received today. Hunters chicken had cheese burger slice on it tasted disgusting, peas were hard and not cooked proper, about 5 chips on plate and the fish well say no more. Would not recommend, I personally smdo not like big potions of food, but that would not have filled a small child. SHOCKING...

The bar is not fond of serving Irish people, and may eject you if the accent is noticed.I stood at the bar for a few minutes, recieving no service, but when a young lad walked passed the bar the barmaid asked him of he was waiting. I stated I was, then got informed I wasn't being served. The young lad sent I'd been waiting and we were both shocked. I can only put it down to my being Irish. After a minute the young lad ordered my drinks and I went outside, only to be refused entry when I wanted toilet. All in all, typical racist sithole.

Going back to the pub after many years finds it unrecognisable following refurbishment. Now very large and comfortable with upstairs opened out too. Modern updates mean little of the old character remains. Good service. The large number of TVs suggests this would be a good choice of venue on match days.

My favourite pub in Cardiff! Such friendly staff, the service is speedy and amazing. Food is always a 10/10. Absolutely perfect. Just a warm welcoming atmosphere to be in. Visit every time I'm in Cardiff. ♥️

Hadn't been here for years but popped in for drinks when my partner and I were passing. Very impressed with the atmosphere and the staff. We were served by Lottie who was really lovely and was chatty and helpful when we weren't sure exactly what we wanted and what was on offer! Will definitely visit again based on this experience. Our favourite spot on a Saturday night. We always come in for a quick drink and then spend hours here singing. Staff are polite and friendly. It's the only place we've been to where everyone is envouraged to join in the karaoke, not just the good singers (lucky for me!). The guys on the booth always create a great atmosphere and get everyone involved. We love the end of night group song!
