Down for the rugby...stayed at 73 previously and loved it: cocktail bar, friendly staff, lots of amenities. Clear that since then it'schanged hands. The website still talks of luxurios rooms and the pictures still suggest boutique hotel: the prices certainly do. But, this place is now nothing of the sort. It is an avergae coffee shop with massively over-priced rooms. There are no "hotel" staff. If you arrive later in the day and once the coffee shop has closed, there is nobody around at all. You can't even get into the building unless someone else staying there lets you in. Then you have to manually check in yourself using their stupid machine which then punches out a key card which doesn't work. A night porter (who was very personable) arrives at 8pm...before then you're on your own...in the rain. Once in, you have access to your basic room, which doesn't have many of the facilities you expect and which have been promised...and, that's it. Breakfast (which exaggerates the term) isn't available until after 8am and only then if the "order's been delivered). This smacks of a business either in financial trouble or unwilling to spend money: either way a bit of a con when you've paid nearly £400.

Amazing value for money. Booked a king suite and it was stunning. Beautiful building with a smooth check in system. Had a few requests that we forgot to mention before arriving but they were dealt with as soon as we raised them. Can’t wait to stay again.

Wow! Amazing two night stay. Gemma went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and help me in any way. The hotel is beautiful. The room was quiet and clean. Beautifully classic and luxurious. Yet modern and minimal enough to feel spacious. Lovely stay. Thank you to the gentleman who carried my bags. My room (735) was luxurious and very comfortable, a great night's sleep. Love the large windows (with - don't forget to close the curtains 😉) highly recommended! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 And would definitely book to stay again.

Stayed here for one night, and it was fantastic. The staff were very welcoming, and explained anything that we were unsure about. The room was fantastic, and a great price for a suite in Cardiff centre for a Saturday night! We also had a fantastic breakfast in the morning too, we are looking forward to booking again when we come back to the city!

Location was great - 5-10 mins walk from city centre. Though the rooms were a bit old, with a rather odd choice of using metallic bed side tables. The plastic kettle was awful - the water had a strong taste of plastic and we didn’t dare drink water from the kettle. Also lacked a hair dryer.

Service during evening party was appalling. Calling time at 10.10pm. Aggressive in manner. Assistant Manager then pestered and harassed me for everyone to leave. Tried to address these issues, in a professional manner with Operations Manager. Very unsatisfactory response. Paid £500 for hire of room and there was £1500 minimum spend at bar. Did not care at all about customer service and satisfaction. Great shame as great location but unfortunately would not recommend. Very stressful evening.

We booked the King Suite as a treat for my hubby’s 50th birthday. On arrival, we were given a key to our room and it turned out to be a wrong room. It was a 2 bedroom suite, with small shower room, kitchen unit& tv room. I went to inform the manager on duty about their error. The manager was already out and his deputy called him, to inform him about the error. He spoke on a loud speaker. He requested the deputy manager to check who has our room. It turned out, on the day, the manager upgraded another couple to our room! He then tried to tell me that the room we were given was an upgrade too!! Why on earth would we want 2 bedroom apartment when is just the 2 of us& why we would spent £175 for a King Suite and be happy not to stay there?! Further more, when you want to upgrade a customer, you tell them that is an option, and once they agree to the upgrade, you upgrade. That was an absolute madness. How can you upgrade another customer to a room, which we paid for and it was booked for us??? The booking system and management of that place is shocking. The manager, at some point, suggested to his deputy, to get the people they upgraded to our room out of that room, so we can stay in there. I honestly couldn’t believe what I was hearing!! As an apology, we were offered a complementary GLASS of Prosecco, breakfast& coffee. The room we had to stay in was dirty- broken blinds, dirty shower, dirty kitchen cupboards, dirty fridge& oven, dirty windows, dirty carpets. Bed was clean. This place could be as amazing as the photos on their website. But at the moment, it needs a top to bottom spring clean, change of management and better booking system. For £175 we could have stayed in many far better hotels in Cardiff. Whoever owns this place needs to be aware of what’s going on there, as it’s absolutely unacceptable. I don’t need to add, we’ll never be back or recommend that place to anyone.

I was looking forward to celebrating a night in Cardiff for my 50th birthday and proceeded to book a King Suite room in the hotel via booking.com a few weeks ahead of our arrival. Received emails of confirmation and even few days before again reiterating the King Suite. This looked a lovely room including a bath. We checked in and was shown to our room. After a few minutes I said to wife where is the bath? looking around it looked like a self catering apartment with a kitchen area and two bedrooms. I realised this was not the King Suite and the wife proceeded to inform the on duty manager of the situation. He had clocked off for the day and so the bar staff spoke to the gentleman via the phone. It emerges they had upgraded another couple earlier in the day to the King Suite. The upshot of it all was they offered a free breakfast and glass of choice to compensate for the over booking. The worrying aspect here is I have seen other reviews with similar issues and the gentleman at the bar mentioned this had happened the other week also. I bought and paid for the King Suite in good faith and this day and age with automated booking systems it should not happen full stop. The duty manager did offer a sincere apology in the morning but for me personally will not be re-visiting.

I booked the apartment no 73 by CoffiCo for 1 night and 4 adults for the 6th of December. We had a long trip from Cotswolds to London and from London to Cardiff the same day. The only thing we were expected was a good sleep. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen. The heating didn’t work in both bedrooms and the temperature outside was negative during the night. The apartment was left in appalling condition for its new guests: - Red leak in the fridge. - Dirty dinnerware in stinky dishwasher. - Sticky floor in the kitchen. - Blood on the wall in one of the bedrooms. - Crumbles below the oven (was to scared to open it). - Mouldy shower head. - Absence of heating in both bedrooms. - Black mould in the kitchen. - Absence of mattress protector and black hair on the mattress. Staff is unprofessional and inattentive. Took me 15 min to force someone to came over and had a look at the apartment. The night porter washed the dinnerware but left the rest of the issues unresolved. None member of staff/manager contacted me the next morning/day. I am not happy to pay a penny for the stay we had and will never recommend this disgusting place to anyone.

Fantastic room, beautifully decorated lovely size. Loved the fact that we could stay above our favourite coffee shop in Cardiff! All the staff were fantastic and breakfast was great, quick and excellent service. Only downsides were the coffee machine in our room leaked rather a lot, the bed could have been a bit softer (our preference) and the shower was a bit fiddly. Will definitely stay here again, as we loved the boutique feel to it and quite fancy trying it out in the summer as the secret garden looks fab!

We stayed here for one night as we had an early start from Cardiff the following day. After considering the city centre chain hotels we spotted this place in Pontcanna. Its ideally situated for anyone wanting to visit Cardiff; it's within relatively easy walking distance of the city centre and the picturesque Bute Park and Cardiff Castle. There was a really friendly welcome from the staff. The room itself was clean, quiet and comfy. We could have asked for anything more. As an added bonus Pontcanna has many lovely non-chain bars and restaurants if you fancy something different.

Wonderful service. Linens and towels were good. Road a bit busy during the day. Windows open for fresh air. However, bed comfort differed by room (3 different rooms as we were out traveling anf back three times). Two pubs across the street and highly rated and very tasty Italian restaurant Endola across the street and even more pubs within two blocks. Morning breakfast in Coffi #73 was very good. Would recommend but caution as not all things work in the rooms and bring you own handsoap, shampoo and conditioner as they, oddly, do not offer any.

Stayed as part of a group of friends for a long weekend and sporting event. Basically, we all just needed a place to stay for the night and get changed/showered before going out. In that respect, No 73 was perfectly suited - it's only a stone's throw from Sophia Gardens Coach Station and a fairly short walk to the Principality Stadium and castle. The staff were lovely - really nice in the brief interactions we had with them and they offered to keep our bags for us before and after check out despite our travel times being at odds with their check in/out times. There isn't a 24/7 service, but you're given a passcode to get into the hotel after the cafe has closed. The room itself was a bit basic and old fashioned. Quite spacious but it felt like it could do with a refresh. There was no in-build air conditioning but a fan/heater is provided; however, it was pretty much useless and in the unusually hot September weather the room was very hot and stuffy. All of the above also applied to the bathroom and shower too. For some reason we weren't supplied with towels on the first day but we were on the second, but we had brought our own anyway. I wouldn't have minded the basic room so much, had the price been lower. However, due to the sports event going on in Cardiff that weekend, pretty much EVERY hotel in the city hiked up their prices threefold. So while that isn't a specific complaint against 73 by Coffi Co, it is still something to consider when booking. As such, it felt like we were paying mid-range prices for an otherwise budget B&B.

This property is in a great location and just a 15 minute walk from Cardiff centre. There is an on-site cafe/restaurant and bar which is a great bonus as you have access to this for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks if you want to. There are also other pubs, restaurants and local shops in the area so there's lots of options nearby without needing to go into the city centre. We stayed in the 2 bedroom house and both bedrooms are double beds with en-suite bathrooms making it perfect for couples staying together. There's no dedicated parking, but there's a lot of free on-road parking nearby. We always managed to get a space within a 5 minute walk, however we did have to drive around at times until we got a space. The property was great, however it could do with a little bit of TLC. There's a few marks on the walls and carpets, but nothing a coat of paint and a good scrub wouldn't fix. A couple of the blinds also needed fixing. None of these things negatively affected our stay. We really enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay again if we come back to Cardiff.

Dissapointing. Looks lovely, so took my boyfriend for a surprise - tried to swap rooms on the Tuesday before the weekend so we could have a proper bath in the bathroom. They agreed and I asked to pay - but they told me to pay upon arrival. On the day they informed me that someone else had the room after booking it on booking.com that morning, and it was first come first serve. When I pointed out that I had booked the room that Tuesday, days before and offered to pay - they didn't apologise at all and inferred it was my fault. I arrived a little annoyed and frustrated at the bad attitude and customer service but looking forward to seeing the room as they are nicely decorated. The room was nice, good decoration, but on going in the bathroom it was still dirty, with literally - skid marks in the toilet! I went downstairs and asked them to clean it so that when we came back from dinner it would be satisfactory. They looked shocked when I told them about it and also like I was being difficult but said they'd clean it. Arrived 5 hours later at night and there was still skid marks in the toilet... Appalling. Genuinely disgusting attitude. Good points : good location for town and nice decor.
