We paid an eye watering, £1000 for 2 nights to get an absolutely terrible service, very average food and below average hotel facilities. Most of the staff seemed extremely unhappy, which was very obvious in their rather lazy / unhelpful attitude. The restaurant staff seemed too busy behind the scenes with no genuine interest in checking on the guests or their needs. The high tea was a major rip off- no real decent options for vegetarians or gluten free guests! The massese was a pot luck. Whilst my massage was lovely, my husband had a terrible experience with his masseuse - she had sweaty hands all along and couldn't go past a light massage despite requesting for a firm massage. She didn't bother reading any of the forms they made us fill! The spa needs a proper uplift- it's quite run down with hairs and mold in the showers. We paid huge amounts of discretionary service charges on non existent service and feel extremely ripped off. The owner and management really need to get their act together and shake up things. Absolutely substandard hotel and service.

Incredible experience from start to finish in this truly unique hotel in the heart of the New Forest. The location is breathtaking, service faultless and hotel has so much character. Really nice touch that the hotel put a balloon, card and banner in the room when I mentioned in the booking notes it was my wife's birthday. Not something you get often. Dinner in the conservatory and breakfast in the Armada were brilliant.

I took my fiancé here for his birthday as a surprise. I’ve always known of Rhinefield but never been. All the photos on line looked fabulous and all the reviews were 5 star. However I was really disappointed when we arrived. It is a very grand looking building but the property is dated, tired and the decor is really in need of a refresh internally Some observations and things that may help - - Bathrooms - it is advertised as a luxury hotel and spa, however the bathrooms do not have any lotion which I would expect at this level. Our bathroom had grout missing in the tiles and by the bath. - Bedroom - we had the classic room, I couldn’t see these on the website. However very pleasantly surprised at how big they were. Thumbs up - Conservatory - it was really quite cold and the only option of where to eat unless we wanted fine dining or eat in the lounge. The lounge however had low tables which isn’t great to eat. - Food & drink - the food was fabulous, really good. The Gingerbread moscow mule is delicious and their breakfasts are wonderful and the lovely waiter who served us - Staff - what wonderful staff Rhinefield have! They are just lovely and couldn’t do enough to help. The location is good and the staff are lovely, the food great, however I think what they charge for the rooms is high, I paid £245 a night and the food prices are high as well. In my opinion It’s 4 star prices for a 3 star hotel. It just needs some tlc and to be updated.

A grand setting for a hotel. We received a super welcome here on a cold afternoon with some hot spiced apple drink at reception and escorted to room. The staff were all excellent. Really friendly. We stayed for the evening meal. It was OK. The dining room was too cold really and not the room we were expecting. There was a solitary heater on wall on max, but still it was a large room so made little difference . Shame the huge fireplace wasn't operational. The lounge bar was also not warm. I had to turn the radiator up! A warmer, cosier environment would have meant a bigger bar spend too!

We have just come back from our stay at this spectacular hotel in every way possible. We originally booked a king room and were ungraded to the most beautiful suite with two rooms adjoining and breathtaking views of the forest surrounding by beautiful trees, deer, horses and rabbits. That was such a lovely surprise and created so much excitement for the little ones. The rooms are clean and beautiful- very comfortable and Morden. All snacks and refreshments were included and they even bought the kids little VIP robes and a welcome pack with activities and milk and cookies! All inclusive. The breakfast was fantastic with a massive variety of choices and we even came back to feed my son who was not hungry in the early morning at end of breakfast and they went above and beyond to feed him. The receptionist was so lovely I didn’t catch her name , she made our stay incredible as well as her college who I also did not catch he’s name but I think he may have been from Greece. Both so lovely and welcoming. The hotel is unbelievably stunning outside exterior and interior. The grounds are fantastic and my kids had so much fun. They have ponds with huge koi carp who were really friendly and deer grazing on the grass, unreal. This hotel is deep in the forest, so magical. Soooo calming and relaxing. This place is the best hotel and it deserves so much. Nothing is too much and everything was fantastic. Thanks so much . Sylvia

The location is lovely and the hotel is beautiful to look at, but I would say it’s quite over-priced for what you pay. The bar isn’t great and needs an update and unfortunately our breakfasts were both cold when they turned up after quite a long wait. When you’re paying £350 a night, you’d expect more. The staff were lovely though.

I wish I could put 6 stars at least as this hotel in my opinion is one of the best (I’m struggling to think which can be better) in the country. We’ve been staying there 4 times in less than 6 months just because you want to come back because of: 1) amazing grounds which are the best in New forest 2) the service and staff is just the next level of excellence, above and beyond . I see that many people mention Jerry who is just one on earth type of person - unbelievably polite and nice. All the hotel staff is fantastic and make you feel at home 3) food - not just why they haven’t got a Michelin star yet but I’m sure it comes. Best breakfast ever as well 4) Xmas decorations are absolutely amazing These are just a few reasons but this is very family friendly hotel and after having been to Chewton Glen I have to say that I’d keep coming back to Rhinefield which wins in all the categories for me personally and at the price few times less. Best hotel, thanks a lot for an amazing stay as always and can’t wait to come back. Gareth, you and your team are doing an amazing job!

We enjoyed a fantastic dog friendly stay at Rhinefield House recently. The hotel is a fantastic place in the New Forest surrounded by great walks and also within an easy drive to the local towns. The hotel staff were great and very welcoming throughout our stay and the grounds are also spectacular. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience, especially breakfast and dinner being served by Jerry. Would highly recommend.

The location and hotel grounds were breathtaking, offering a unique experience surrounded by wildlife such as horses, deer, squirrels, and even a fox. While the prices are on the higher side, the experience is absolutely worth it.

Rhinefield House is in a great location, very close to a lot of the walking/cycling paths. The staff are extremely helpful and the room staff work very hard to keep the main areas clean. The food is decent and they have vegan options as well. However, I will probably not return. The hotel portion is very dated -- at least 20 years old and needs an upgrade. Our room did not have a smart TV so we couldn't watch Netflix or Amazon. The staff said "some" of the rooms have a smart TV. The window only opens a crack (there's a child lock on it) and the room was very stuffy and stale. The bathroom has no vent either making it damp and gross. The room itself was very much like a Holiday Inn room in Orlando and the walls are thin. The Wi-Fi worked well. Final thought process is, if you're going to spend 1500 for four days there are better options (The Pig, for example.) Thank you to the staff for looking after us. They are the best part of this hotel.

We had afternoon tea to celebrate a birthday on 22/09/2024. Unfortunately we were let down by a few elements, Mainly poor service. We felt like we had been forgotten about a few times and twice we got up from the table and went to the waiter station outside the room to ask for something. We had to request to order some tea!!! The food was mostly good but for the price we expected better, two different batches of lemon tarts were served to our table, one perfect and the other scrambled eggs (overcooked and lumpy) I showed this to the restaurant manager who came back and said the chef had to make more and changed them to a lemon curd tart (not true) and the savory course was under seasoned, rest of the food was pretty good. For afternoon Tea for 5 people at over £300 we expected better.

A really pleasant stay! The grounds of this venue are spectacular with deer and wildlife around every corner. Our room itself was big with a very comfy bed. The bathroom was slightly dated but lovely and clean none the less. We had room service for dinner in our room which we were pleasantly surprised by. The staff were all really friendly and accommodating. The Hand Picked Group just seem to knock it out of the park when it comes to offering a relaxing and reliably pleasant experiencing at their hotels.

Fabulous. Only lost a star on the rooms as they suffer as nearly all hotel bedrooms, with no natural breeze. That's being extremely fussy. Very comfortable and quite room. Dog friendly inside and out. Effortless walking from the room and around the property. I'd like to give SIX stars for service. ALL staff very good natured and friendly, while being professional. Hence super relaxed for us, while they worked super hard, making it look easy. Great food. Stupendous choice. Magnificent venue. Worth repeating... wonderful staff. :)

Attended as a wedding guest and I can’t fault the location and venue, so beautiful. I do however feel this venue fell well below the mark when catering for those who don’t drink alcohol. My friends paid £150 per head for guests, which included drinks on the lawn and with the meals. I was pregnant at the time and while my friends got to sip champagne, have gin and tonics and a wide selection of beers… I got orange juice, I was told that was the only option but I could purchase other soft drinks from the bar. When seated they had a nice selection of wine… I was initially told there was nothing for me but water and then eventually got a pitcher of children’s squash when I pushed the pregnant card. I cannot fathom how such a prestigious venue can get it so wrong, why on earth don’t you have a selection of adult none alcoholic drinks included within the wedding package, to think my friend paid £150 for me to drink a glass of orange juice and some squash… disappointing. Especially I may add when there was so much excess wine it was behind the bar for free for most of the evening. For the pregnant ladies, the designated drivers, the recovering alcoholics and those who just don’t want to drink… do better.

Looking for a suitable backdrop to propose to my partner whilst on a break with friends in the area, my local friend recommended this hotel where his sister was married. I contacted them and, whilst they usually make arrangements primarily for guests, they were very willing to host us for an anniversary celebration where I could propose. They tailored a unique deal towards my needs, wants, and budget, and when we arrived we were waited on and attended to beyond my expectations. We had a spa treatment for an hour after wandering the grounds and exploring, and the full body massages were fantastic. Much better than our previous experiences elsewhere. We had the “Alhambra” 1-1 private dining room booked and it was atmospheric, they scattered petals and had flowers arranged for us and it was fantastic. And I think reasonably priced considering the extravagance! Not sure what else I can write but thank you! And that I strongly recommend this hotel for that something special.

Booked a night away at the Rhinefield and was treated to something really special. The setting in the new forest is stunning, the hotel and hotel grounds are gorgeous and the room was beautiful, immaculate and spacious. What made our trip truly memorable was the staff. Very polite, knowledgeable individuals who seem to have physic abilities to address my needs before I even speak. Every interaction went above and beyond any of my previous experiences at other 4, and even 5 start hotels. Will undoubtably be returning again.

I was here in the summer with my husband and parents-in-law and with had coffee and cake in the garden which was delicious, but i especially enjoyed the handmade the cookies that came with the coffee 🍪😍. My father in law bought a box but it wasn’t the same cookie 🙁. The surroundings were lovely and peaceful (until the helicopter arrived 😄) I am writing this review now, as will be going back over Christmas, so have my fingers crossed for the cookies😜
